Great holiday in lovely cottage. Very well appointed with equipment required. Hosts are very friendly welcoming and knowledgeable.
The grounds are lovely and children really enjoyed the trampoline and swings and playing tennis in the village.
The local area is beautiful with plenty to see and do for everyone. It's a short drive to the coast and the sun shone the whole week.
The information link shared of things to do in the local area, places to eat and activities etc was very useful.

We booked this cottage for my Dads 80th birthday and had a lovely time. The cottage was very cosy, the kitchen well equipped and a real treat as farm house kitchens go!

It was warm, in a beautiful location with very lovely views in every direction. Loved the swings and pond (and ducks)!

Any queries were answered quickly leading up to the holiday and we knew how to contact the owner if any issues over the week.

Thank you so much, would love to come back!

Our family love coming to the Haybarton. A quiet idyllic area to chill out but with easy access to other locations.
Excellent value for money holiday. Superbly kitted out kitchen with large family sized table. Comfortable beds with all bedrooms have ensuite bath or shower.

We have stayed in both the Haybarton and Cowbyre on several occasions over the last 10 years, each one being a delight, and our latest visit was just as lovely.

The condition of the cottage is always immaculate and inviting; it is more than a home from home and a real delight to be guests there. For anyone seeking either a small getaway, or looking fir somewhere to hold a larger family gathering, Bidwell is the perfect venue.

The Haybarton at Bidwell Farm is a beautiful, comfortable and well appointed cottage set in a very rural location.
We thoroughly enjoyed out stay at The Haybarton, Caroline and her family have thought of everything to make a stay at their property memorable, for all the right reasons. Caroline's parents are on hand in the farmhouse; welcoming but not intrusive.
The beds are very comfortable with lovely linens and soft comfy pillows. On change over both bedding and the mattress and pillow protectors were changed which doesn't happen often!
Downstairs the lounge is spacious with 2 big comfy sofas and a log burner. The kitchen is a lovely big farm house style with a large table and plenty of work surfaces, large fridge freezer and range style cooker. There is everything you could possible need in the kitchen and one thing we particularly loved was the number of mugs, cups, glasses, cutlery and crockery- so when the dishwasher was full there was always a clean cup on the shelf.
There is masses of outside space with outdoor furniture, BBQ and fire pit. Owing to being late in the season we didn't sit outside much as the back of the house is north facing but I did manage have a lovely hour reading my book up by the duck pond, and there are sunny spots to be found if you seek them out! There is ample parking for 3 cars.
The location is very rural and other than walking to the pub in the village all trips out were by car but the scenery from the property in stunning, as is the sky on clear dark nights.

From the moment we arrived at Bidwell Farm we knew we were going to have a great break.
Patsy and Richard were warm and welcoming and the cottage immaculate. It has everything you need, including a lovely welcome pack. Just what we needed after a long drive.
The views and location are just spectacular. It was easy to walk to the local pub and we enjoyed a meal and quiz night there.
The area has so much to offer from stunning beaches, safe cycling, walking and lots of lovely towns/villages to explore. The only thing we wished we’d made room for in the car is our paddle board. But there’s always next time
We absolutely loved the Pig at Coombe and The Hive beach cafe.
Caroline was extremely helpful and the guide to the cottage is well worth reading.
We hope to be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Haybarton. It is a beautiful big house in a fabulous setting with great views of the surrounding countryside and provides lots of space both inside and out. The kitchen was very well stocked and had everything we needed for our stay. The owners, who were also our neighbours were very friendly and accommodating and made us feel really welcome.

We would definitely stay there again.

We had the most wonderful, refreshing stay at Haybarton - a warm welcome from Richard and Patsy, some lovely local treats to welcome us in the kitchen, the house was the perfect temperature and everything we needed for the week was there, in easy-to-find places. We were lucky with the weather so spent more time out of the house than we had anticipated, but it is perfectly placed to explore East Devon, with some handy walk suggestions printed ready for us that took us further afield to the wonderful Teign Gorge. The cottage is surround by beautiful hills and countryside but close enough to visit the beaches without having to make a whole day trip - Beer, Branscombe, Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth to name a few with fantastic cliff edge walks. Big enough for a family who needed their own space for holiday-encroaching work and revision yet the right size for some very welcome family meals. The house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable, in great condition and the communication from Caroline before and during our stay was much appreciated. Would highly recommend this cottage.

We've just returned from another very pleasant stay in Haybarton at Bidwell Farm after a gap of a few years. This must be our 4th stay in 10 years, and things have changed a bit since our last visit. There is now an EV charging point and a new patio with seating and heater which will be fantastic for use in the summer months. Otherwise, things remain much the same, namely parking right outside the front door making it easy to load/unload; clean, spacious accommodation; a well-stocked kitchen and bedrooms with pocket sprung mattresses making for a comfortable night. The welcome pack on this occasion consisted of a bottle of Devon wine, some cheddar cheese, pickle and a packet of sweet biscuits.

It's difficult to find anything to add to what has been said before by us and other visitors. Haybarton holds lovely memories for us and it was wonderful to be back - particularly as our visit happened to coincide with beautiful spring weather with temperature of 17 degrees, blue sky and sunshine. We indulged ourselves with not just one but two visits to the Otter Valley Field Kitchen at Monkton (just off the layby) for their delicious ice cream, and visited the Sidmouth Arms just a few minutes walk away from Bidwell for a meal or two.

Richard and Patsy still live in the farmhouse adjacent to the cottages and are as friendly and welcoming as ever although never intrusive, but it's their daughter Caroline who now deals with the business, and she responded promptly to contact.

Thank you for having us once more. We hope it won't be so long next time before we're back for another dose of Devon magic.

A fantastic home, spotlessly clean, full equipped with high quality furnishings, crockery & cutlery,

The cottage and location are so beautiful to visit that we keep returning year after year. In fact we have already booked next year.
The surrounding countryside is wonderful for walking but if you wish to go further afield Dartmoor and coastal walks are within easy reach.
Added to that there is a lovely friendly country pub five minutes walk away. Great!

We were a party of three couples {60 somethings}, this was the perfect holiday cottage for our needs. Tranquil location but loads to do with the use of the car. The cottage was spotless had everything you could require, The beds and furniture were extremely comfortable, not slept so well for years. The cottage is within some lovely grounds which you can walk around. Patsy and Richard live within the farm and were on hand to offer advice and assistance, they were wonderful hosts. I can highly recommend the local pub Sidmouth Arms in the village and it is within walking distance.

We thoroughly enjoyed our family holiday at The Haybarton cottage. Kids had a great time playing in the vast garden. Location was great for getting to Exeter and exploring nearby beaches.

Tesla charger was very usefull or us - meant we didn't have to plan ahead to charge the car for day trips.

Cottage was excellent. Lots of space for us and everything finished to a high standard.

Would absolutely recommend.

We stayed at Haybarton. The house is beautiful, clean and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need in the kitchen, which was fantastic and a refreshing change. Sofas and beds are of high standard and very comfortable. The grounds are beautiful too. Caroline was always on hand and very helpful should we need anything. The only thing we would change is the kitchen could benefit from a bigger fridge as we really struggled to fit a weeks worth of food in for a family of four. It did not detract from a wonderful holiday though. In fact we loved it so much we have already booked again for next spring. Thank you so much.

nice place with plenty of room for a family had wonderful weather so very lucky would benefit from some fencing around patio area as had to keep chasing after our 18month old grandson so couldn’t realax until he was in bed also downstairs bedroom would be more suited to a double bed than 2 singles which unfortunately weren’t suitable for us oldies because of large walk in shower would have been great for us too as can’t get in bath but apart from that it was a lovely location and we had a lovely time

Caroline replied more than 1 year ago
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and I am so pleased that you had a lovely week at Bidwell. We try and make sure all guests are accommodated with our layout but we appreciate that it won't suit everyone. Our downstairs bedroom with the twin beds is our most accessible room and frequently used by our older guests as it has a handrail and large walk-in shower. The beds are full sized singles with extremely good quality mattresses so are not just for children. The two kingside bedrooms upstairs have a choice of either a walk-in shower or a shower over the bath. A floor plan can be found on our website. We made the decision not to put a fence round the patio areas as for us, the beauty of the views is part of what makes Bidwell special, and also unique, setting it apart from so many other holiday cottages. We felt a fence would spoil that. I appreciate an enclosed garden may have suited you better with an 18 month old toddler but hopefully in a few years, if you return to us, you will be able to appreciate the value of open space where children can run free. We hope you come back and see us again in the future.

Wonderful stay, we will definitely be back!

Upottery is an area of Devon our family know well. This was our first visit to the excellent Haybarton and it did not disappoint.

From the initial efficient correspondence with Caroline and the welcoming from Richard and Patsy, we had a wonderful week in this well equipped and excellently situated cottage. Everything was very clean and organised with large comfortable rooms and lovely views of the Otter Valley. It was so peaceful and relaxing.

With easy access key roads, this is a great base to explore East Devon.

With covid restrictions we were only half our original family group. But we will surely return.

We had a lovely Christmas at Haybarton. Caroline was extremely helpful and prompt in all her communications with us, both ahead of and during our week there, decorating the cottage prettily for the festive period. We also met Richard and Patsy who were warm, friendly, and welcoming. The cottage is quietly located in easy walking distance of the attractive village of Upottery. It is in excellent condition and extremely comfortable, spacious and cosy at the same time with the best welcome pack we have had in many years of cottage rentals . The sitting room in particular was a welcome retreat, with an excellent log-burner, comfortable furnishings, and lovely views on three sides. Bedrooms and bathrooms were of a high standard, and the kitchen was very well-equipped, and very clean (though the fridge could usefully be a little larger!). Haybarton is very peaceful, with views to open country, and manages the tricky feat of feeling like a home from home. We would happily return.

We stayed as a family of 4, mum, dad and two daughters aged 7 and 5. We had a brilliant time. The cottage is beautiful with excellent kitchen (sharp knives, quality pans, range cooker). Good showers and comfortable beds. Caroline the owner was super helpful providing us with information prior to our stay and after. The wine, cheese and chutney in the fridge was a nice touch. The highlight of our stay was looking after the ducks on site, our children loved looking after them and caroline's parents who live next door were really friendly nice people. Lots of beaches within 30 mins drive, so a good location for exploring devon. We enjoyed our stay so much we booked to return again for next year.

Caroline was very welcoming (as were her parents who live next door), nothing was too much trouble. It was perfect for 3 couples as the separate en suites made things easier - great kitchen which is well equipped and lovely to have the woodburner in the lounge. Fabulous garden/grounds/pond and good local walk that we found so we didn't have to use the car on day 1. Would definitely recommend this place.

We could not fault our stay at The Haybarton cottage. It is very spacious, beautifully decorated, and warm. Everything has been considered to ensure a comfortable to stay - we did not want for anything. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked with crockery and kitchenware to ensure you have everything you would need to prepare meals. The outdoor setting is pretty and we enjoyed meals by the outdoor fire as well as by the pond. The hosts are extremely welcoming and friendly. The communication with the host up to and during our stay was excellent. The local setting in an AONB is truly beautiful. The hosts provided a very helpful list of recommended activities and restaurants which we found to be very useful. And most importantly, in the era of covid, we felt the hosts had taken every care in deep cleaning the property and making us feel at ease. We will definitely return.

The cottage was cleaned to an extremely high standard and was even better than the pictures. The location of the cottage is gorgeous, sitting outside with the log burner looking out to the hills was one of the highlights of the stay. It’s an extremely peaceful location however the owners stressed that us having fun was the most important thing and that they didn’t mind a bit of noise. The owner is lovely and was available to answer any questions we had at any time. There was an issue with the wifi one of the days and they worked quickly to fix this and keep us up to date with what was going on and I was able to work remotely from the cottage whenever I needed to. The cottage is extremely good value for money and I would definitely return.

We had a lovely week in the Haybarton, 4 adults & 3 children. Everything was very clean & very orderly. The kitchen was very well equipped & the added extras of the washing machine & tumble dryer was a great addition. The area was idealic & we enjoyed the otterbourne vally pizza & ice-cream cafe down the road. The house was very comfatable & the patio was great for relaxing after a long day exploring. We also liked that every bedroom had an ensuite. The only added extra we would like would be TV's in the bedroom. We would love to return again in the future. Thank you :)

We have just had a lovely week staying at the Haybarton. It is the most comfortable, stylish and well equipped property I have stayed in for a long time. Booking was easy and Caroline was so helpful and accommodating. Richard and Patsy from the Farmhouse were absolutely lovely, it was a pleasure chatting to them and I’m sure that if we had had any problems, they would have been sorted immediately.
Apart from the weather......... we had a super week and would definitely recommend to friends and family.
Thank you so much for such an enjoyable stay!

A really lovely spacious and comfortable cottage set in beautiful gardens. My son loved running around the garden and chasing the ducks back into bed in the evening! The owner’s parents live next door and they were extremely kind and very welcoming and made us feel very at home. The location was great for doing some great day trips to local beaches and we would definitely go back again and maybe hire both cottages for the whole family next time!

My friends and I had a fantastic stay at The Haybarton - the cottage was sparkling clean, very comfortable and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Everything was very easy to use, and we really enjoyed the fire outside and exploring the area. Caroline was very responsive and friendly when arranging this stay, and her parents, who live next door to the property, were very friendly and helpful.

The lovely Haybarton, which is fabulously appointed, set in a green valley with stunning views was our home for the last week. Everything we needed was provided including a welcome pack of local produce with milk for a hot drink on arrival.
The new patio area makes a lovely spot for relaxing and watching the swallows, buzzards and other local wildlife. Plenty of seating and a table and even a chiminea for cooler evenings
Thank you Caroline, Patsy and Richard for making us so welcome.
We're already looking forward to our next visit.

Wonderful property in a fabulous location. Surrounded by countryside that made for a very peaceful stay, well, apart from when it rained! The owner is extremely kind, and helpful, and is usually on hand, but not intrusive, if you have a problem.

Compared to other properties we have stayed in of a similar quality, The Haybarton kitchen was extremely well equipped. I took my own roasting pans, and microwave containers to make sure we had everything to rustle up a Christmas dinner, (based on previous experience), however, I could have left it all at home. Everything was there, even a food processor, and electric whisk! It was also great to find decent sized mugs for tea, as well as plenty of smaller ones. The kitchen is a lovely big room with a huge farmhouse table, so plenty of space for everyone, and would be great in warmer weather as double doors lead out onto a patio, and the garden.
The very large outside space is shared with one neighbouring cottage, and the owner’s farmhouse, however, all have their own private patios and garden furniture, which we couldn’t take advantage of due to December weather!
The bedrooms, and bathrooms are very comfortable, well furnished, and equipped, with 2 having their own shower, and the other, a bath with shower over. The living room is a lovely room, and very comfortable, and we put the wood burner to good use every evening, as there were plenty of logs to keep it going. The living room is also home to an impressive collection of board games, and things to do, if you don’t want to venture out.
Places of interest, and the coast are not far away, so, all in all, the property is lovely, and in a wonderful spot, and we would love to return in warmer weather to explore the immediate area on foot, a great holiday all round!

We just return from a fantastic stay at Bidwell Farm; we stayed in the Haybarton Cottage and it simply offers everything one should wish for when going anywhere. The cottage is very well laid out, so we never had issues putting our young ones to sleep while the adults would go on in the evening playing games and making noise. ALl 3 bedrooms are very spacious, each with an ensuite bathroom. Caroline and her parents are very welcoming and always on call to help with anything. But there is nothing really one might need as everything is provided!

The location is excellent as a 30 mins driver takes you to various amazing places (we spent 5 days and went to Exmouth, Lyme Regis, Beer and explored the countryside).

All in all a great find and an address I will retain for the future for sure!

It's a few years since we last stayed in the Haybarton at Bidwell Farm, but we've stayed there well over a dozen times. It was better than we remember. Not only is it a fabulous setting, but the cottage is very comfortable, with everything provided that you could possibly think of. Caroline has done an excellent job with the cottage, and Richard and Patsy are, as ever, perfect hosts. Whether you're relaxing by the pond, enjoying the view or taking a stroll to the village for a bite to eat and drink at The Sidmouth Arms, relaxation is definitely what it's all about here. The large rooms and comfortable beds contribute to a great holiday. We will definitely return, and the gap between visits won't be as long next time! Thank you for an amazing stay!

Our decision to 'get away' for Easter was incredibly last minute and yet Caroline was extremely accommodating, ensuring we had the correct set up for our three young children and providing plenty of local knowledge.
When we arrived we were very impressed with the welcome pack and overall layout/cleanliness. Richard and Patsy were very welcoming and went above and beyond by arranging fun activities for the children like duck feeding, nest spotting and treasure hunting! By the end of the trip, our eldest son did not want to come home!
The setting of the cottage is simply stunning with beautiful views; we enjoyed local walks, a pub lunch in the village and even a day trip out to the seaside.
The house was very well equipped which made the stay very easy.
Overall, we had a wonderful visit and would thoroughly recommend it - we'll be back!

I have stayed in the cottage several times over the last few years and have always had a wonderfully relaxing time. The farm is easy to get to but set away from the road among the fields. It is the perfect place to get away from the workday week and relax in comfort. The cottage is well stocked with everything you might need over your stay and the local pub is friendly and welcoming. I look forward to returning soon.

We had a lovely stay. Richard & Patsy were very warm and welcoming and we all greatly enjoyed the homemade bread and marmalade and fresh duck eggs. Lovely cottage with all the facilities you could need - large kitchen with every kind of cooking utensil. Toy boxes and jigsaws and games in the lounge and outdoor toys for the children. Lovely bedding and good size rooms. Lyme Regis, Beer & Sidmouth all easily reachable by car. The location was lovely and traditional Devon views from the cottage over fields. Would highly recommend.

We enjoyed a wonderful week's holiday (6/7/18) at this cottage and could not fault it in any way. The place is so well equipped and the level of cleanliness was superb. the grounds are lovely to walk around (especially to see the ducks on the pond). There were three of us staying, each using one of the bedrooms, but for a family of six, the accommodation is ample size wise. We would not hesitate to recommend it and hope to return ourselves some time.

Where to begin with the compliments?Me &my family visited Bidwell farm & cottages on 17 th June & we had the most amazing 4 days here.it it definitely a hidden gem in a beautiful village upottery village.we stayed in their Haybarton cottage. The cottage was beautifully furnished, classically decorated with a contemporary twist, and sooo comfortable. All the rooms were spacious & kitchen was fully equipped. They have a huge ground with a beautiful duck house &pond as well .They also have kids play area. The cottage was clean and simply luxurious. It was very relaxing to listen to the birds chirping in the morning. In total they have everything what you are looking for a relaxed holiday in Devon.
Last but not least our host Richard & Patsy are really great. They make you feel comfortable and have all the information you might want to know about the place. We really enjoyed our conversation with them over tea. Richard baked us a loaf of bread & and made marmalade as well and we totally loved it.
Thanks,
Vipasha & Mohit

A very lovely cottage in a very quiet village and perfect for us family of 5. The rooms at The Haybarton are of good size and even better they all have their own en suites so no arguing over who gets the bathroom first. The large kitchen and huge dining table are fabulous. The welcome pack we received on arrival was greatly appreciated.
There is lots of information available to you on places to visit which we found very helpful, especially on rainy days.
Our children absolutely loved caring for the ducks each morning and getting to collect eggs.
I would recommend taking slippers as the floor can get really cold, especially for the little ones.
The cupboard in the lounge was full of games, puzzles and a few DVD’S which was great.
The Wi-fi was a little touch and go when we stayed, which wasn’t a huge issue as it meant my children couldn’t get to distracted with the tablets.

All in all the cottage is lovely and we would definitely recommend.

My husband and I traveled through Cornwall and Devon in September and October . We are both
retired, so our perspective on this review may be slightly different from others. We stayed in Haybarton Cottage, which is delightful. The furniture was above the average holiday house. The house has 2 bedrooms upstairs with beautiful country views, each with an en suite. The third bedroom is downstairs near the eat-in kitchen with all the conveniences - even a Leisure stove. Very nice laundry room with washer and dryer as well as room to sort clothes and fold them. We chose the downstairs bedroom with a large ensuite. The bed was very comfortable with both a cotton spread as well as a comforter. We each have CPAP machines to use while we sleep.
Therefore, bedside tables and power outlets are important to use. This room had a large
bedside table which stood between the twin beds. We found power outlets behind headboards. The bath is large and airy with a large walk-in shower and a towel warmer.
Internet connectivity is important to us. The WiFi was download 7mbps: 0.3mbps upload, which is a very useable speed. Checking email surfing the internet are easy. Parking for our car was next to the cottage. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed for almost 3 weeks. We contracted with person who cleans between occupants to come twice a week for a fair rate. It made life easier. If you plan to stay for a week or more, We recommend you ask Caroline when booking for this service.

Had a great few days at Bidwell. It's just lovely - quite luxurious with every bedroom en suite. It feels remote but the village (and more importantly the pub) is a really short walk away. Yes there is another cottage next door and the owners are close by but you wouldn't know. The surrounding area is beautiful, with the sea at Sidmouth and Lyme Regis only 50 mins away. Go!

Bidwell Farm cottages are located around beautiful countryside, are furnished to a very high standard and offer a quintessential English country cottage experience. The owners couldn't be more helpful, and it's an ideal place to stay whether one wants to curl up by the wood burning stove or to use as a base when exploring the delightful surrounding area.

"Devon, we're in Devon" we sang (to the tune of "Heaven, I'm in heaven" - from the old Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers film Top Hat) as we crossed the border into Devon from Somerset on our journey to Bidwell Farm. We'd been to Devon before and were really looking forward to staying in the Haybarton, right in the heart of the Devon countryside.

Now, before you rush to book please be aware that a stay here can have a significant impact on your health and well-being. If you're into stress, noise and bustle you'll not find it here. As you arrive, the property seems to envelop you in peace and tranquility. It's as though all your cares and woes just melt away as you relax. What's that sound that I can hear? Nothing. There is no noise. All around is quiet - except maybe a bit of birdsong. The view from the windows over the Blackdown Hills is stunning too. The Haybarton is very well-furnished and comfortable. There is good wifi, and free sky TV too for those who just cannot pull themselves away from the trappings of modern life for a few days.

There's no doubt about it, Bidwell Farm is a great place to stay. It's very well-situated for visiting many places. This time, we went to the Fleet Air Arm Museum (booking online the night before to save us some money), made a return visit to Lyme Regis and enjoyed wonderful fish and chips from Herbie's (freshly caught haddock from Brixham) and visited the Willow and Wetlands Centre. We thought this was excellent (and amazingly, free too!). They have a great little cafe there as well with freshly prepared food. Then, of course, if you don't fancy cooking there's the local pub in Upottery, the Sidmouth Arms, that's within easy walking distance. They offer very good food at really reasonable prices (including a special winter warmer offer of 2 meals for £13.50 before 5pm).

We must also mention that there's the welcome from Patsy and Richard, (Caroline's parents) who live in the adjacent farmhouse. We were given 6 freshly laid ducks eggs from the Khaki Campbell ducks, a loaf of Richard's freshly baked bread, along with homemade marmalade, and lovely yummy Otter Valley Ice Cream to mention just a few of the goodies in the welcome pack. (Do visit the lay-by on the A30 just outside Monkton for more Otter Valley Ice Cream by the way).

What's not to like about Bidwell Farm? Nothing that we can see, and this was our third visit. It won't be our last either. I can hear that "Devon, we're in Devon" tune again already...

Wow ladies, I think must be my best review to date! Thank you for taking the time to write such lovely words about the Haybarton. We know it's a very special spot but it makes me very happy when our guests notice too. Thank you for coming back to Bidwell Farm again and we look forward to seeing you again in the future. They keep making new flavours of ice cream so there is a real incentive to return!!

We have stayed in many holiday properties and this is one of the best. Top marks for easy access, great views and close proximity to local pub. Fresh home-baked bread as part of the welcome pack was a nice touch. Owners parents are on-site with a warm welcome and "nothing is too much trouble" attitude. Did not want to go home....

The Haybarton is a great space for a family of six, has a well equipped kitchen, lots of board games and the bonus of an open fire!

Enjoyed a good meal at the Sidmouth Arms on the first night of our stay, well recommended by the Owners.

The Haybarton was all we could have hoped for and more, prior to arrival Caroline was very obliging and helped us with all the information we needed to plan our Christmas away from home.
From the moment we arrived we felt at home, we were greeted by Patsy and Richard who made us feel very welcome. The duck eggs, local cheese and wine provided were all delicious and the mince pies were a nice festive touch.
It seems that everything we needed to make it an enjoyable Christmas had been thought of and the week passed by too quickly.
Our Granddaughter was particularly delighted with the Ducks that came to visit at the Kitchen door in the mornings.
The Haybarton is situated in a beautiful part of Devon, the local village of Upottery is very picturesque and has a good local pub.
All in all it was a perfect package that we would highly recommend, The Haybarton itself was spacious, well presented and very comfortable.
Thanks again to Caroline, Patsy & Richard for a lovely stay. We hope to be back in the future.

We had a lovely time in the The Haybarton! We came with 4 children, but the spacious cottage gave us more than enough space for everyone to breathe. The garden is magnificent, our children went out and couldn’t be seen for hours. Patsy, Richard and Caroline were more than helpful and provided us with anything we needed: Crab fishing net, coal for the barbecue, tons of wood for the log fire, and many more lovely surprises. Great: Two tennis courts in the village, Richard organized the key. We especially liked the fully equipped kitchen with direct access to the garden: A wonderful, massive, and solid table, a great oven for full English breakfast every day (we gained a couple of pounds though) and every kitchen utensil you can think of. The fridge however could be slightly larger for 6 people. All in all a perfect week, we will most certainly come back all the way from Hamburg!

The cottage was all that we hoped for a holiday in Devon. Everything in the cottage was of a high quality and covered all requirements,(even Sky TV). The grounds were simple but pleasantly laid out and the views from the cottage were beautiful.
For us the location was ideal, being within easy reach of the coast (Lime Regis, Beer etc.),Taunton and the Blackdown Hills. As a coarse fisherman there were also several suitable venues for day fishing.
I would like to add that the owners were friendly, very helpful but not intrusive.

Our first visit to Bidwell Farm was fantastic. Our cottage for the week was The Haybarton, which was extremely comfortable and in a beautiful spot. Richard and Patsy made us very welcome and were very helpful, especially with the fly fishing tuition. Nice to be within walking distance of the village pub where excellent meals were served. Plenty of places to visit, Sidmouth, Beer and Lyme Regis were our favourites. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to others.

Excellent accommodation in a quiet rural setting. View of the countryside was beautiful with rolling hills and
farmland. Close to quaint villages and easy access to major nearby city of Exeter. Well located for day
excursions to Sidmouth and seaside villages. Owners were most welcoming and very helpful in assuring
our stay was comfortable and pleasant. We appreciated their assistance in helping us have repairs made
to our rental vehicle. We highly recommend this property and would return.

This was our second stay at Haybarton, having visited last September. We phoned to let Caroline know we were about half an hour away as we passed the Fleet Air Arm museum, and she was there on the doorstep to welcome us when we arrived and had turned the heating on for us.

Sadly, March didn't deliver the same balmy temperatures as we'd enjoyed before, and we were very glad to have the heating on in Haybarton (radiators throughout) in addition to using the wood burning stove in the lounge. Caroline had provided a tub of Otter Valley blackcurrant ripple ice cream for us, and this was as delicious as the other flavours we'd tried on our last visit.

Due to the chilly, blustery and sometimes wet weather, we didn't go out and about as much as last time, but we enjoyed 3 excellent meals, including Sunday lunch at the local pub (The Sidmouth Arms), that's only a 5 minute walk away. If you want to partake of Sunday lunch we strongly recommend booking. During the week we enjoyed two main meals for an astounding £12 as a special offer until 5pm. Their home made banoffee pie and clotted cream (£5) is to die for!

We also visited Exeter, using the Park & Ride. There are 3 separate P&R services. It's an easy journey down the A30 and the P&R (red line) stop is just beyond the M5 and well sign-posted. Currently, buses go every 12 minutes, and a return fare is £2.40 for the 15-18 minute journey into the centre of Exeter - right by John Lewis.

Later in our week in Devon, Patsy and Richard (who own the farm house adjacent to Haybarton and Cowbyre) returned home from their travels abroad and we were greeted like long-lost friends. We were really sorry to hear that Lucky (the drake Khaki Campbell duck) and three of his 6 lady friends had been lost to the fox since last time we visited, but this is part of being in the country. Sadly, it meant no freshly laid duck's eggs for us this time either.

We feel very much at home at Bidwell Farm and we hope to return - perhaps at a warmer time of year though! You can't feel anything other than relaxed in this lovely peaceful place.

We had a wonderful week at Bidwell farm staying in the Haybarton Cottage. Patsy and Richard were fantastic in every way!! They brought us freshly baked bread on arrival (which was worth the trip on its own). We stayed over the Xmas period which was magical for our two children as the Cottage is very homely and welcoming. They settled in very quickly and loved getting up early to let the ducks out with Richard in the mornings. The surrounding area is stunning. Being a professional landscape photographer it takes a lot to wow me these days when it comes to scenery but this place truly is beautiful!!! we will definitely be returning with the inlaws in the near future.

This was our 11th consecutive visit to Bidwell Farm and the Haybarton.
There's a very simple reason for this. It's the perfect spot for us.
Quiet village to chill out. Pub on the doorstep, beaches and plenty of local attractions a 20 minute car journey away.
Eating out in the area is a must, as there are many fine dining experiences close by.
The property itself is idyllic. Beautiful grassed areas surround a stocked trout lake (fishing available) Great for families who love to play out. The bedrooms and bathrooms are all tastefully decorated to a luxurious standard.
Huge kitchen area with dining table to match. Comfy Lounge with flat screen TV and sky package.
Wi-Fi available if you can't leave the laptop at home.
It's absolutely stunning and the welcome is as warm as you would imagine from an establishment that's certainly at the top end in its category.
It's Perfect.

What more could you ask for?

We arrived at Haybarton, one of 2 properties at Bidwell Farm, to be warmly greeted and shown round by the owners Patsy and Richard who live next door in the farmhouse. First impressions were excellent. The accommodation was clean, well-equipped, beautifully furnished, comfortable and spacious. There was a wood-burning stove in the lounge, although we didn't need to use it as we were blessed with good weather (even though it was late September). Central heating is provided by radiators throughout for the winter months.

Richard and Patsy provided a welcome basket of local produce, including fresh duck eggs laid by their own ducks, Richard's home-baked bread and Otter Valley ice-cream. We enjoyed this so much we bought some more from the Otter Valley Farm shop in the lay by on the main road into Honiton to take home!

The accommodation is situated in a delightful, peaceful spot with wonderful views over the Devon countryside. There is a large pond with trout in the grounds, and as we'd never done it before, Richard kindly showed us how to cast a line for fly fishing. It is only a few minutes walk to the local pub, the Sidmouth Arms, where we had a couple of very enjoyable meals at a reasonable price.

We found the location to be perfect for travelling in various directions, and we were out and about every day. The Dartington glass works at Great Torrington was well worth a visit. We also enjoyed Lyme Regis and the wonderful fish restaurant, the Beach Cafe, run by the National Trust at Burton Bradstock (be aware that you have to pay to park even if going to the cafe). They serve locally caught fish, and is clearly a popular haunt. We advise getting there early.

Bidwell Farm is a 5 star gold property. We've stayed in other 5 star gold properties in different parts of the country on previous occasions but this knocks the opposition into a cocked hat. The only downside about recommending a property like this is that when you want to come back another time someone else has already booked it. We'd love to go back for another visit - so long as you haven't got in first of course!

We were a party of 5 people who had a most enjoyable 2 week stay at The Haybarton in September. The location was peaceful and the grounds were beautiful. The accommodation was of a high standard throughout. We would have no hesitation in recommending a stay at Bidwell Farm Cottages and we all look forward to returning next September.
