Strathmore Lodge sleeps 6 and is part of our collection of luxury holiday homes in the country village of Wooler, otherwise known as 'the gateway to the Cheviots'. 'Strathmore Lodge' is actually part of Strathmore, with some of the bedrooms made unavailable to use so instead of sleeping 10, Strathmore Lodge sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms. This grand home has a private hot tub, lawned garden and private gated parking on the driveway. Wood burning stove, a short walk to the village centre, and 2 dogs are welcome. Free Wi-Fi and Digital Guidebook.

I cannot help but give this place five stars. The customer service began with a phone call in the afternoon of our first day, telling us that the cottage was ready for us. We were walking around the village with a couple of hours to spare, so this was great news. We walked in to fresh flowers, a handmade cake (delicious) and everything else we could wish for.
The beds were comfortable, the sofas were comfortable, there were plenty of cups and plates in the kitchen, together with a coffee machine, and lots of books to choose from.
We went in the hot tub, and were surprised to find flipflops and towels to use. They have literally thought of everything.
We were both sad to leave.

Communication prior to arrival with the cottage owners was great .
We loved the sociable space . The house was spacious yet cosy and welcoming .
The hot tub was a firm favourite and was enjoyed by all. It felt very private and we were deranged by the garden blackbird and robins
I loved the history of the building and the amazing old veterinary books which were a nod to the houses past . We liked the close proximity to Wooler and enjoyed lunch at the Blackbull and a dinner at Milan - everyone was very friendly .

We stayed here as 5 adults, 2 couples and elderly father. As we walked in the cottage we were delighted with the initial impression of the property, however we soon noticed faults which should have been identified and put right!! Curtains falling off curtain poles in 2 rooms. Cobwebs and dust in all rooms, the downstairs shower does not drain for hours so can only be used by 1 person for a short shower leaving a few hours for it to drain. The shower head on upstairs shower needs replacing! We couldn’t get the main sitting room warm because the window was extremely draughty! We spent all our time in the ‘snug’ which was very comfortable except for the broken leg on the footstool. The main bedroom was very draughty, the blinds moved with the wind so this room was pretty cold. The ‘en suite’ was filthy, the toilet didn’t empty without plunging and the extractor blew in black bits. The main toilet upstairs didn’t empty well either which is not ideal when it services the needs of 4 people (due to the downstairs bathroom flooding from the shower) I think this house could be amazing as the decor and furnishings are fantastic and the beds were super comfy. The welcome pack was fabulous. I feel it needs a really good thorough clean and the drainage issues looking at. We did mention the drainage and footstool to the owner who said she was aware of these issues, clearly maintenance is required. The property is ideally located for access to all Northumberland has to offer.

Large spacious character property, large enclosed garden with hot tub, beautiful master bedroom, great kitchen that had loads of cutlery, crockery, glasses, utensils etc and an American fridge freezer and range cooker. Tasteful decoration & furnishings. Open fire in lounge and stove in the snug. Good central location for exploring Northumberland. Very generous welcome pack. Very dangerous getting in and out of the driveway in your car because it sits on a blind corner - so you really need someone with you all the time. Would be an ideal property for a large family get together as the house is so spacious.

We had a lovely 4 night break with the family. The house is large with enough space for us all. We all like to cook and the house has enough equipment to meet all our needs. The bedding and beds were all high quality which really makes a difference and adds to the comfort. The hot tub was also a winner!! The hamper and cake baked by Catherine were all fab and a lovely touch.
There are however a number of things that could’ve made this house better.
- cleanliness which I gave a 3 for is not what I would expect for a luxury cottage. The oven and the showers in both bathrooms were particularly dirty. I had to clean the shower head before using and there was also grime around the trays.
- the toilet seat and toilet roll holder in the downstairs bathroom were also on the brink of breaking
- lastly whilst i love and appreciate a cottage garden, the garden needed some maintenance, the flowers and shrubs were over grown and the grass needed cut.

This all being said did not ruin our week away and I am commenting so this can be sorted for future guests.
