Hedgehog House has been beautifully renovated into a luxurious, contemporary haven in the quaint Northumbrian coastal village of Embleton. Sleeping up to 5 guests, Hedgehog House has been furnished and equipped to an excellent standard and boasts an excellent central position within Embleton Village, just around the corner from a choice of 3 great pubs and in close walking distance to the beach. A short break only, but we wish we had been able to book longer. Beuatiful property in a beautiful location within easy walking distance of the beach. Plenty of places to eat in the village and nearby. Property is finished to a very high standard and was absolutely spotless. It is very well equipped and thought through. Touches like the outside hose for washing off your dogs, or in my case fishing rods, make all the difference. Thank you Michelle and the cleaning team

We had a lovely time in Hedgehog house. Embelton Village is a good location from which to explore all the castles and beaches in the area. Its great to be able to walk to a beach and a castle without using the car. The local pubs and welcoming and the shop is stocks local foods.
Hedgehog house is very comfortable and very well equipped especially the kitchen. The welcome pack goes above and beyond including stuff for our fury family members and toiletries. Parking is good and the garden patio area very useful.

Absolute bliss from the moment we walked in. The beautiful flowers and welcome hamper were such a lovely surprise - and very welcome for hungry teenagers having some food available immediately on arrival. The cottage is just beautifully appointed - like a boutique hotel and superbly equipped. Location wise it is excellent. 20 minutes walk down the hill to a stunning beach and blue seas there are also great facilities in the village. The village shop is excellently stocked and the staff are so helpful. The Greys Inn was a firm favourite meal wise with all of us and the Bluebell gave an excellent meal too. Lots to do nearby and having such a gorgeous cottage to retreat and relax to was heaven. The owner even checked in with us via message to make sure we had everything we needed. Really could not have asked for anything more....other than a longer holiday!

Genuinely dog proof and extremely comfortable single storey cottage in small village with two shops and two pubs. Walk to the beach and golf course. Great kitchen. Comfortable sofas. Choice of TV channels. All positive. No wonder it gets booked up so quickly!

We had a very enjoyable stay at Hedgehog House it has everything you need for a perfect holiday. We booked the last 5 years with Coquet Cottages all have been very good but this was best we can definitely recommend it.
The location is very good for the beaches and excellent restaurants and pubs. We enjoyed visiting Alnwick especially Barter books and the coffee and cake. Rothbury is worth a visit Craigside House is a must lovely Arts and Craft House plus an excellent tea room.
All in all we had excellent holiday.

We stayed at Hedgehog House in Mid March this year and were so impressed that we wanted to re-visit as were so impressed the first time. The house is extremely comfortable with lots of great touches. We have stayed in a number of Coquet Cottages properties over the years and the is without doubt the best house so far. It is comfortable, very well equipped and a great location with a hotel, pub and beach within short walking distance. Michelle, the owner , provides a great personal service on top of the good Coquet support. We will be back.

From arrival to departure the whole experience was fabulous. We completely relaxed as soon as we arrived at the house. The first thing you notice as you enter is the gorgeous smell and then you are drawn through to the kitchen where a delicious welcome basket awaits- and one for the dog too. The kitchen is incredibly well appointed- the boys even managed to bake cookies. The snug is cosy and very comfortable. The bedrooms are all lovely and quirky. The bathrooms similar- and with really great showers. The back garden is a sun trap- we even managed to sit out there despite the stormy weather. Great places to eat in the village and many more within a 20 minute drive- and the village shop sausage rolls are a must! Superb walks in every direction and a small nature reserve just across the road for shorter dog walks. Biking, surfing, paddle boarding, a golf driving range and lots of walking were all crammed in to 4 days- oh, and lots of eating. Thank you Michelle- we will be booking again.

The place was clean, tidy and well presented. The was plenty of equipment, can’t think of anything they didn’t have, we enjoyed our time here and walks in the area. Only thing that would have improved our stay was the weather, and if embers pizzeria had been open, they closed for the week as had a wedding booking

having stayed in the area over a number of years this is the best property so far. It is comfortable, well located and has great facilities, significantly more than you would normally receive. The well stoclked welcome basket was a nice touch as was the welcome call from the owner. The local facilities are also good, reasonable walk to the beach, very short walk to a small nature reserve and dog friendly.. The Dunstanburgh Castle hotel and Greys Inn are very close by offering good value food and refreshments.

Such a high end spec property. Everything you might need & more besides. Only used the bed in main bedroom and it was extremely comfy. Fabulous welcome hamper & also a great hamper for our 2 dogs. Lovely phone call from the owner to check that everything was OK. Really nice touch. 10 minute walk through the dunes to the beach. House is perfectly placed to visit all the amazing villages & beaches on the Northumberland coast. We will return.

Staying at Hedgehog Cottage was absolutely home from home. The attention to detail was unreal. Extremely clean and we wanted for nothing and the tasteful nod to hedgehogs was perfect. The host was lovely adding a lovely touch for my wife's birthday. A special place !!!!!

What a perfect, luxury, yet cozy January break.

Cottage equipped and furnished to a 5 star standard, definitely has the wow factor

Fabulous position near eateries, a useful little shop and the beautiful Embleton beach

We had an amazing week at Hedgehog house. The property had everything we needed for a fantastic break. The location is brilliant, we walked on the beach each day and even had a swim in the sea on Boxing Day. There are lots of nice pubs to visit, our favourite was the joiners arms which did amazing food. The kitchen at Hedgehog house was huge and well equipped. We enjoyed sitting around the kitchen table playing board games over the Christmas week. We also enjoyed snuggling up in the front room with the gas log fire on. It looked just like a real log fire, but without the associated mess. All beds were comfortable and the night lights in each room are a nice and useful touch. The owner Michelle checked everything was OK on arrival and had some great advice. I think the owners have gone above and beyond what is expected, to make sure anything you may need is available in this cottage. It has to be the best cottage we have stayed at in Northumberland. We will definitely be back again in the future.

We enjoyed our stay and found all the items left in the cottage for dogs inc towels, bowls and treats very useful for our week away.

Lovely welcome basket provided and the motion activated torches in the rooms were great touches.

Kitchen facilities were ideal with everything you could possibly need, including a heated clothes airer which came in very handy.

The handles on the doors were all a little wobbly and 1 bedroom handle kept coming off which wasn't ideal, a previous family had also mentioned this in the note book provided for problems.... The Handles could really do with some attention for safety purposes.

The Mattress in the double room was not deep enough for the bedframe leaving the edge of the bed sticking up above it which was awkward to get in and out of the bed, it was also not very comfy to sleep on too soft and wobbly! It would benefit from being upgraded for a more comfortable nights sleep.

Hedgehog House was the perfect location to visit the whole of Northumberland.
The kitchen had every utensil you need for a week away and looked amazing.
Beds were very comfortable.

An excellent well maintained and comfortable cottage (bungalow) in a super location in Embleton village. 15 minute walk to the expansive beaches. There is a post office/village shop and a petrol station (with small integral shop), a couple of pubs and hotel/restaurant within 2 minutes walk.
