Railway Crossing Cottage is a charming detached stone cottage, situated in a peaceful rural location in The East Neuk of Fife, close to the villages of Crail and Anstruther.

There are 2 bedrooms at the property, a double and a twin/double, and a lovely characterful open plan sitting room and kitchen/dining area. The accommodation is very accessible, as it is all at ground floor level, with easy access to the garden via double patio doors.

There is a private hot tub on the decking area, with wonderful views to the surrounding countryside. The garden is secure and fully fenced and we are pet friendly. There is the added benefit of free wi-fi.

Railway Crossing Cottage is a perfect location for exploring the quaint fishing villages of The East Neuk, the historic town of St. Andrews and the scenic coastline of Fife.

Perfect cottage, hidden from view of onlookers but easy to find and with easy (vehicular) access to Anstruther, Elie, Crail and Pitenweem. Well administered and also dog-friendly! Nice to find milk and wine in the fridge for us. And a simple but effective hot tub under the stars.

We enjoyed our stay at the above. The cottage was welcoming, cozy, very clean and beautiful throughout. The beds were super comfortable and garden space was excellent. We would like to visit again when the nights are lighter and would recommend to others.

Lovely little cottage ideally placed to explore the east Neuk of Fife. Plenty of everything to make your stay homely. Interesting to watch the farmers at their day too. Would recommend coming up the road from the east as the western stretch is very bumpy.

We had a great stay exploring the East Neuk from this lovely cottage. The kitchen was one of the best equipped that we have seen for a good while and the rest of the cottage was just as we had hoped from the photos. A welcoming bottle of wine was a lovely touch along with the welcome card.
We used the eating out suggestions from the information pack and had a lovely meal at The Dreel Tavern in Anstruther. Loved being able to walk down to the beach each evening and sit listening to the waves.
We would definitely come back to Railway Crossing Cottage.

We have been returning here year after year as it is so quiet and relaxing. Everything you need is thought out and you are only a short ride away from Crail and Anstruther.

We had no issues with the cottage. The only problem we had was with the access lane which was about 500 yards from the main road.There were large pot holes and mud on the road. Persistent heavy rain on our first day and the state of the lane meant we could get our car out into the lane. ( I appreciate that this was not the fault of the owner but we did lose the first two days of our stay.

The location is superb, the cottage is spotless and nothing has been overlooked.
The three of us were of the same opinion, it is perfect heaven! The hot tub putting the cherry on the cake. Absolutely fabulous views. Endless beautiful coastal villages and then there’s St Andrews! We had a wonderful week and didn’t want to leave.

We were delighted with our stay at this charming holiday cottage. Peace and quiet and everything you could possibly need for a relaxing break. Cottage was a delight to stay in.It is so well designed blending the original cottage into the new section. Which lets lots of light into the kitchen area. The cottage is very well fitted out to a very high standard to ensure you have a comfortable stay. The hot tub is a big bonus and with no real light polution its wonderful to be in at night watching the stars and relaxing. The owner is easy to contact and very helpful.
When it got a bit cooler at night the woodburner was great at heating up the cottage as is the very good cebtral heating system. The large enclosed garden is safe and secure for young guests also great parking space available. Best access to cottage is from main road to Crail turning in at farm campsite entrace.

We hope to be back to stay again in the near future

We found the road down to the cottage was not great ,but the cottage itself is lovely ,it was warm and clean.One good thing was the heating there was no limit on it and you could boost it whenever you needed to ,the hot tub was great nice and warm for when we arrived ,which was perfect as we had been on the road for about 7 hrs and to relax in the tub for an hr was just what we needed.Only problem was the wi fi there wasnt any till Thursday and we were leaving next day .We dont use it alot but like to look at the places we want to visit to see how far they are and check parking and facilities etc.so it was slightly annoying .

My Husband and I and dog , stayed in this five star cottage with every amenity you could ask for . It is a very loved and cared for property . The owners have thought of every detail . Beautifully situated with all the country side around , but near to so many beaches , good eating places . I left a document behind and Kate sent it back arrived following day what a service is that . We will be returning very soon to this gem of a cottage .

The wife and I had a great week away in the railway crossing cottage for our honeymoon. Easy to find and fantastic location for exploring the kingdom of Fife. Hot tub was amazing, especially when it did not rain for the full week. Great garden area to have a BBQ on a sunny day. Hope to stay again in the future.

All I can say is about this cottage is wow, what a perfect place to stay, location brilliant, cottage brilliant, hot tub and patio brilliant, to be honest we never really did the holiday cottage justice as we were out all day every day of our stay, and we missed the opportunity to really enjoy this cottage, relax, bbq and soak as much as it deserved.

We all loved the cottage and especially the hot tub. Everything was clean and ready for use. Ian and Kate are fantastic hosts and respond quickly to any queries. The isolated position works well for us- away from artificial lights and the noise of day to day living.
We have never been anywhere that has reflected our needs more

This was our 3rd visit here with our dogs. The cottage is in a great location for exploring the surrounding area and just a short drive from Crail/Anstruther. The cottage is immaculate and the hot tub an added bonus for relaxing after a day out exploring. Lots of lovely beaches for walks with the dogs and St Andrews not far away either. Would definitely recommend a visit!

The cottage is in a good location, the hot tub is great, everything you need. The coast path is great for walking from harbour to harbour, lovely break.

We enjoyed a relaxing weekend at Railway Crossing Cottage, our second visit. The cottage itself is well appointed, clean, cosy, cared for and has everything you need. The location is perfect - beautiful countryside all around but still close to local amenities. The log burner and hot tub are both fantastic - a real treat! A lot of thought and detail has been put into this cottage by the owners and I would highly recommend a visit. We can't wait to stay again!

Have stayed in Railway Crossing Cottage a few times before for a short break this time we booked for a week
We love the fact the cottage is off the beaten track but close driving distance to all the East Neuk Fishing villages.The two dogs love the huge wrap around garden and it is a lovely place to sit on a nice day.
The cottage is well equipped for a self catered stay and is very clean lovely comfortable beds makes for a good nights sleep
Fantastic place to be for a getaway. Looking forward to another visit next year.

We have stayed at the Railway Cottage on many occasion now. We go there because we have busy working lives and want to recharge our batteries. The location is fabulous with great facilities. The local towns of Crail and Anstruther are great for lunch or high tea but, to be honest we tend to take all we need with us, lock the door and relax in the hot tub and on the loungers for the week. Can't wait till our next trip which we are already planning.

This is our fourth or fifth family holiday at this beautiful cottage which I think says it all.

The location is fantastic. Equidistant between Crail and Anstruther but very, very private with just one other house in view and that some distance away. There are walking routes to both villages however a car is essential as it is a fair distance especially with children in tow.

Ideally located for exploring the East Neuk, it is a great base.

The facilities are perfect. A large, safe enclosed garden for kids and dogs to play in, a well equipped kitchen and a bathroom with all you could need. Lovely comfortable lounge/dining area with doors to the terrace and hot tub. The bedrooms are small but comfortable with good storage. Everything was immaculate on our arrival.

The hot tub was spotlessly clean and very comfortable.

The broadband speed supported our firestick to stream a couple of films with no issue if anyone needs that information.

The hosts are top class, Kate and Ian send welcoming texts and emails and reply promptly if you need anything. They even leave a bottle of wine and some milk in the fridge for your arrival.

Just superb and we will undoubtedly be back.

An excellent cottage in an ideal location in which to explore that entire area of Fife.

The cottage was well screened with fencing to give the added privacy when dining alfresco, or in the Hot Tub.

The kitchen, which had a number of Velux roof windows giving great light and brightness, had good modern appliances, and excellent space for dining.

We had a relaxing week here with the cottage acting as a quiet, stress free haven after walks and exploring the East Neuk of Fife. The hot tub is in a lovely sun trap setting and we were surrounded by fields of beautiful yellow rape seed plants which was stunning. The lounge, kitchen, dining area is so comfortable and bright and warm - no need for the log burner.
A great find and we would highly recommend a stay here .

This is our 3rd visit to the Railway Crossing cottage.
The cottage is ideal for a relaxing time away and is spotlessly clean and tidy. Even as a dog owner myself you would never know they accept dogs as you never smell any dog odour upon entering the cottage.
The hot tub at the side of the cottage is an added bonus and coming out of the tub and into the warmth of the cottage with the log burner burning is so comforting.
It’s a beautiful cottage and we will look forward to returning again next year.

This is a lovely cottage in a very nice quiet country location,but with easy access to places of interest.The cottage itself is very comfortable and well equipped ,and the hot-tub is a real treat !! Kate had left a bottle of wine in the fridge for us as well as tea-bags,coffee and biscuits,so we felt very welcome.
We went for a week with two friends,and had a really great week..we can recommend it to anyone who wants a bit of peace.There are lovely places to visit without having to travel too far,and the local scenery is beautful.We would definitely go back.

Had a lovely relaxing week at the cottage, it is spacious with plenty storage places. The hot tub was very relaxing and was ideal to use after a day exploring. Plenty places to visit along the coast.
Helen who prepares the cottage for your arrival does an excellent job, and notified us by text when it was ready.
The welcoming bottle of wine was nice as we sat on the patio with it after unpacking, the views are nice, and if it is peace and quite you are after this is the place for you.
The directions said on leaving Anstruther you would come to a bridge with traffic lights, the traffic lights are no longer there. We passed the entrance road to the cottage at Bankfoot Farm as you come on to it quite quickly and it has a high hedge, so turned around in Crail and got it on the way back.

The second week of July 2020 was I think our 3rd stay at this beautiful cottage and I think that says it all.

It’s a perfect location with a large and fully enclosed garden surrounded by farmland which our dog and children love and we barely saw them indoors.

It was beautifully clean on our arrival and the cleaner had done an excellent job particularly given the lengthy Covid requirements.

The location is superb, right between Anstruther and Crail and less than 5 minutes to either and about 20 minutes to St Andrews. There is also a path off the access road where you can walk/cycle into Crail and another path over the farm fields at the bottom of the access road taking you to a beach.

The facilities, including the hot tub and BBQ on the decks are great.

It really is a lovely cottage and apart from the occasional passing tractor and cyclist it feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere and so peaceful I can guarantee you’ll relax.

The cottage was absolutely perfect for us in every way. Quiet remote location yet an easy walk to Crail or Anstruther. Lots of beaches within minutes drive, and all of the East Neuk to explore. The cottage is beautifully appointed and has everything you need and more for a relaxing stay. The garden is perfect for dogs and the walk up the track right outside gate is ideal to give the dogs a run. And the hot tub is a real bonus. The owners are very attentive and the one small problem we had was fixed immediately. The wood burning stove was lovely and cosy. We had such a good time here despite the world beginning to fall apart with the Covid 19 virus but where better to be 'isolated'! Thoroughly recommended and we will go back.

Our stay at Railway Crossing Cottage was really relaxing. It had everything you could ever need.
The location was great, only a mile to the coastal path and a couple of miles either way to Crail or Anstruther.
It was ideal for the dog as the garden was fully enclosed.
The owner was really helpful in accommodating us at very short notice.
We would definitely return.

This is our 6th time staying at Railway Crossing Cottage and we absolutely love it!
The location is perfect, nice and remote so you get peace and quiet while out relaxing in hot tub.
We take our dog with us every year and he absolutely loves the garden, which is all enclosed and an excellent size.

This cottage is perfect for a quiet getaway. The cottage itself was gorgeous and the owners had thought of everything you could need and more. It was so warm and cosy even in mid November. The bed was very comfortable and the hot tub was a great way to relax at the end of the day.
Anstruther and Crail are lovely and only a short drive away they don't have a huge selection of shops but you could get everything you needed.
I would love to return to this cottage and I would highly recommend it to friends and family.

Upon arrival after a long drive the cottage was welcoming and comfortable.
It is situated perfectly for the Anstruther to Crail stretch of the Fife coastal walk as it is basically central to the two places. It is also only a short drive from St Andrews.
It was ideal to use as a base to explore the local area and also for just staying in and relaxing.
The hot tub was a joy, especially after long days filled with lots of walking!
We hope that we can return one day as it was a lovely, relaxing week.

Fantastic Cottage in a superb location. The weather for our week was brilliant. We walked into Crail on the Fife Coastal walk, ate Lobster from the shell fish hut in the harbour, had a few drinks in the Golf Inn, were the hospitality was great and got the bus back to Railway Crossing Cottage where we relaxed it the hot tub, then had a few drinks. Sounds good, doesn't it, well trust me it was.
We visited St Andrews, Kingsbarns Distillery, Anstruther Harbour where we ate the famous fish and chips. Theres lots do do and see.

Will definitely be back.

This is our 5th stay at Railway Crossing Cottage for the New Year break, and we have already booked to come back next year. It is without a doubt our favorite place to spend New Year. The cottage is beautiful and very homely, and the hot tub is fantastic.

This was our second visit to Railway Crossing Cottage and was a fantastic break. The cottage is beautiful, set in a remote location, it's very peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed walking down to the Fife Coastal Path and walking into Crail. The scenery is breathtaking and the town stunning. After the long walk what better than relaxing in the hot tub, with a glass of wine. Believe it or not, the weather was superb.
This will definitely NOT be our last visit to this fantastic cottage and location.

This cottage is fabulous. So well looked after & immaculate too. Everything is provided & of high standard too. Dog friendly. Hot tub is just bliss. Ideal location for seeing the fife coast.

This was our 2nd visit and won’t be our last we love the peace and tranquility this place gives you we enjoyed every minute from the coastal walks to the hot tub at the end of the day

Booked a weekend here as i work in St Andrews and came straight from work on the Friday and just went straight there Monday morning ( saved me a couple hours commute!) Husband met me there and we enjoyed a thoroughly pleasant weekend despite the wild weather! Everything as advertised and was lovely to shut the door on the outside world and chill out!

Fab cottage with everything you need for a relaxing stay, best of all the hot tub! We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed a walk along the Fife coastal path to Crail. Would definitely recommend this lovely cottage for a relaxing holiday.

We spent a week in this idyllic home. We were lucky to have decent weather so didn't use all the facilities to the max but we are certain no one will be disappointed with what Railway Crossing Cottage has to offer. Honestly the nicest holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in.

Had an absolutely wonderful stay here for a week over new year. If I could rate it higher than excellent I would!! The cottage is gorgeous and has everything you need. The log fire makes the winter nights lovely and cosy and the hot tub is perfect to sit in and relax.
Garden is big and fully enclosed which was great for my dog as he loved running around with this toys and cottage is only a short drive away from some beautiful beaches!

Fourth time staying here at New Year, have already booked to come back this New Year and I cant wait!!

Super week over Christmas. Cottage so lovely and cosy, made special by the Christmas tree that had been put up. A great place to stay, made use of the hot tub after playing golf. What a treat. Just what we wanted for a nice quiet Christmas.

Beautiful cottage and garden with hot tub- many extras which were much appreciated.
It was amazing sitting in a hot tub on the 4th December feeling safe , warm and relaxed.

Lovely cottage, very warm, comfortable, tastefully furnished and equipped. Log burning stove was an added bonus as was the hot tub. We felt that the owners had thought of everything to make our stay perfect. All the arrangements from booking to travel were straightforward and simple. We would certainly book again and recommend this cottage to family and friends. We all had a very enjoyable, relaxing break.

I am having such a hard time right now with work and personal issues, however the Railway Crossing Cottage sorted me right out. we have stayed 3 times. Since coming home just over a week ago we have already booked to stay again the same time next year. Love it Love it Love it.

Family of 4 celebrating my daughters 21st birthday. We has 2 inlaws join us for one day and they stayed at a near-by B&B. It was a lovely relaxing long weekend. The lovely cosy and spacious open plan kitchen/sitting area meant you were all together. The hot tub also in view and just a few steps away from patio doors. The log burner was amazing and a welcomed warmth when transffering from hot tub to house. The beds were comfortable but did midd the space of king size bed. This little diamond of a place is beautiful,got open countryside, an enclosed garden and a peaceful location. We do hope to return and we all enjoyed our stay.

A lovely cottage with a bright and spacious open plan living room that has far reaching views over countryside. A great location for a stay any time of the year, cosy on colder days when the logburner is lit and star gazing from the hot tub makes it very inviting.

The best wee dog friendly cottage we have ever stayed in and the perfect location .....have stayed in manyniver the years but this cottage was by far the best! Many thanks to Ian and Kate for accepting the booking and so glad we decided to book far ahead, as we would never have found this gem. So quiet, an abundance of wildlife on the doorstep, just (as delboy) would say...PERFIK! Will be back..

We enjoyed our stay at Railway Crossing Cottage very much. Everything in the cottage was of excellent quality and taste, and so comfortable we could not fault a thing. The kitchen was very well equipped with all you could ever need. We loved the garden which was totally secure for our two dogs, Deano & Danny. The garden furniture was again of good quality, with table, chairs, umberella, sun loungers, and ofcourse the hottub. We would highly recommend Railway Crossing cottage, and we will definitely be going back. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

Excellent location for exploring the coast. Facilities very good. The hot tub was a fun bonus. The garden is dog proof, and you can walk up the track from the door with no traffic.
