This was our fourth visit to The Sheiling by the Bay, so we feel we know the cottage and the area pretty well now. It’s a beautiful modernised blackhouse in a quiet peaceful location, but with easy access to South Uist, Benbecula and North Uist as well as great day trips to Eriskay, Barra and Vatersay. In good weather it makes a great base for walking, cycling, running and swimming and in bad weather it is warm and cosy. The facilities are of excellent quality and well maintained and the history of the building is reflected in the artefacts in the rafters. It’s our home from home escape, and h...more
