On arrival at the property we were met with a wall of heat. Every room was uncomfortably hot, we assumed this was because of the wonderful weather and triple glazing. However after our first sleepless night even with all the windows vented we discovered the temperature of the floors in the morning and found that the underfloor heating was set at 28°! One of the rooms reached 31° even with the windows open and the curtains shut, no one could have slept in there. It took 5 days for the temperature to come down but that was venting and opening all the windows, we appreciate the weather contributed and the good insulation of the house, but a fan in every bedroom should have been provided. We ended up having 5 sleepless nights until it cooled down.
On arrival we found the cutlery draw was distinctly short of cutlery and we struggled for 2 days with 2 teaspoons until we opened the dishwasher and found it all in there! (We couldn't use the dishwasher because not even the customary couple of dishwasher tablets had been provided fif a rental 8f this calibre). Obviously no checks were made prior to our arrival on either the dishwasher, the cutlery draw or the heating.
The outside areas were totally unmaintained and the grass hadn't been cut in a long while. This made the management of clearing up after our 2 dogs very difficult not withstanding the extreme steepness of the ground.
The decking is subsiding towards the front right hand side making it unsafe for anybody let alone children or the elderly especially as there are no steps off it and there is then a steep slope down to the garden.
For the cost of the property for 1 week we expected a welcome pack not just a solitary bottle of red wine between 4 adults.
You get charged £100 per dog, no issue with that but expected the garden to be secure and dog friendly, it wasn't. There was no gate.
There was no outside furniture apart from a hard wooden picnic bench that could not be moved as it was screwed to the decking.
Both Tv's were a waste of time due to them failing to connect to the internet, this was obviously known due to the extensive DVD collection. It would have helped if this was stated on booking that the Tv's are there solely for the watching of DVD'S.
The house itself was lovely, comfortable, well presented and in an awesome location, the views were stunning, it is just a shame the outside area didn't complement it and make the house worthy of its inflated price. The outside area really does let this property down. This is the most expensive in the area, possibly the reason it's not getting many bookings.
This is a house resting on its laurels, it does not appear to have been maintained or presented in accordance with its luxury price tag.
