Another excellent stay at Sea Urchins cottage. Its an absolutely gem of a house with all the little touches that really make it feel like home. It has two generous bedrooms both with their own bath/shower room with the primary bedroom having a balcony that overlooks the sea. This was our dog's favourite place to sit and watch everyone go by! It has a really well appointed kitchen with everything you could ever need (including dishwasher and coffee machine) as well as lovely lounge area with wood burning stove (though it is fully centrally heated) for those colder nights. Situated on The Bay holiday village right on the path down to the beach - you can be on the beautiful sandy Hunmanby end of the beach in 10 minutes from the back door. It's quite a steep path on the way back from the beach but knowing you have this cottage to get back to makes it worth it! The Bay has lots of facilities such as pub, pool, tennis court etc and has a really nice atmosphere as it is full of people who are on their holidays. In general the condition of the property really is excellent but I did notice on this stay that its starting to show signs of wear and tear here and there - really only minor things though and with the amount of people that have stayed here its no real surprise. We will definitely be back soon.

Booked on Christmas Eve and the assistance and customer service from Filey Bay Direct (Paula) was fantastic. The cottage is one we have used before and it could never disappoint. The comfort and cleanliness are exemplary and the location ideal for a short walk onto the beach path.
There is everything you could wish for within and around Sea Urchins to enjoy a stay at Filey Bay.

Quiet location, very close to the beach path.
Very clean, well equipped. Beautiful en-suite bathroom and shower room. Comfortable mattress and great sea views from the main bedroom. Fourth time we have been to The Bay, this was the best cottage we have stayed in. Great customer service from the moment we arrived. Thank you for a much needed holiday after a very close family bereavement.

Just returned after our first stay at sea urchins cottage. We couldn’t recommend this highly enough. It is in a great position close to the main facilities but also near the beach path and sea views. The cottage was super clean and the beds and chairs were extremely comfortable. Everything you could think of in the kitchen for cooking and eating. Lots of little touches which make all the difference. We shall certainly be back again.

A lovely cosy cottage with everything we needed for our stay. Comfortable sofas and beds. We chose sea urchins because it had two ensuite bathrooms and a TV in each bedroom. And most importantly it was close to the beach and walks for the dogs. It even had a sea view. We all had an amazing stay and would go back again. Very dog friendly.

The cottage is a great space in a brilliant location. Well stocked with everything you need. Paula is great! The only disappointment was that the fantastic balcony wasn’t clean and could benefit from updated outdoor furniture. We would also have benefited from a property that doesn’t welcome dogs

This is a lovely property, excellent condition through out and high spec of furnishings, towels, bedding, kitchen appliances etc. Very well presented and thoughtfully designed - a real home from home.

Location is excellent too just a five minute walk to the beach, we really like The Bay as well as not stayed there before.

Will definitely look to re book this property.

The place was very pleasing. Just a couple of issues, but it didn't spoil the holiday. The large bedroom wardrobe was difficult to open, because it was positioned near the bed. Perhaps moving it around to somewhere else would solve the problem. Where the table and chairs are near the front door there was dust on the skirting board. Putting these issues to one side we loved the place, we would still recommend it to other people.
All the comforts of home and everything you could possibly need.

Really lovely home in a great location. Sea Urchins cottage has all the amenities you could need for a great stay. It was nice and clean and well looked after and the little touches of books, puzzles, charging cables and super duper wi-fi made it perfect. Its a great size for 2 adults though there is a second bedroom that can fit two single beds too, so space for children or a third adult too. Both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and there is a downstairs toilet too. The balcony overlooking the sea was extra special too - that was our dog, Bailey's favourite spot! Sea Urchins cottage is also close to the pub, shop, pharmacy and leisure facilities on The Bay so everything is just a short walk away. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be back.

The Bay Filey is a fabulous spot for a relaxing stay. Follow the beach path right down to the sands and turn right for a walk towards Hunmanby (great beach cafe at Hunmanby gap!) or left to walk to Filey. The walk to Filey takes around 45 minutes though you can make it longer if you want to - just join the Caledonian way, a way-marked route that goes all the way along the coast, and you can walk to Scarborough and beyond.

No complaints at all, lovely location with a fantastic view. Second time at this property, last time we were there we mentioned that the key safe was in a awkward place, reading the numbers was difficult, so it's been moved to eye level, much better

Very clean and tidy, has everything you need and more for a cosy relaxing stay.
Location on the bay is perfect.
The walk in shower is an added bonus, didn't want to get out..

This cottage is the best one we have stopped in at the Bay , The only gripe was getting into the key safe when it was dark , it took over 20 mins to get it opened .

We have been coming to the Bay for several years, during that time, we have stayed in some beautiful properties, but this has to be by far one of our favourites, if not the favourite! On arrival, the property smelt very clean and fresh and once inside, it was obvious to see that the property was immaculately maintained! Perfect property, with the most stunning views from the bedroom balcony and situated in the most perfect place, within a stones throw from the beach path.
Would we stay again…..absolutely!

Great place to stay, would highly recommend it. There was just a couple of small cleaning issues but I appreciate the teams are very limited for time and things can be missed but perfect other than that. The only downside for us was that there was a problem with the pool when we were there but we could use one 10 minutes away but it would we would have used the one on site more than the other due to our plans meant we struggled to get there within the times provided

This was our 4th visit to the Bay and this cottage was the best house we have stayed in. The location is fantastic being close to the beach and the resort centre. There is limited traffic so it is ideal for children’s safety.
The cottage was spotless on arrival and was very well equipped.
We had a sealed bulb go in the downstairs toilet and Paula sent someone out to sort it straight away.
All in all a great cottage and a great holiday, despite some dodgy weather.
Our 4 year old granddaughter loved the cottage so much she asked if we could stay. She did 3 activities whilst here, slime making, build a bear and tie dying a T-shirt and she loved them all and Jordan who took the sessions.

We loved this cottage, everything we needed for a home away break was in the cottage. Location was fabulous for the beach and the local pub on site and the log fire was the perfect ambiance in the evening (fluffy socks & cosy toes). Loved the balcony in the master bedroom, open the blinds to a sea view with a nice cuppa. We will most definitely book this cottage again

This cottage is ideally placed only a short distance from the amenities on site and the beach walk. The cottage was very comfortable and had all you could need during a break near the seaside. We have used The Bay a number of times and this cottage was the best so far.

I have stayed at The Bay resort several times but this is my favourite. The quality of the fixtures and furniture is excellent. A very short walk to the beach with plenty of open areas to exercise my dogs.

We had a great stay at Sea Urchins Cottage. There were 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 young children. The cottage was very clean, spacious, and decorated beautifully. The beds were so comfy and having an en suite on both bedrooms was great. We had everything we needed. It was a short 2 minute walk to the main area where the pub was. And the coastal path was also a short walk so the location was brilliant. I would recommend this cottage if you were looking to stay at the bay. It’s also pet friendly but sadly our dog passed away before our holiday.

What an excellent modern, clean house with all the mod cons you would need to make any length of stay a good one. Good Wi-Fi, excellent TV. The decor throughout is lovely and the bathrooms are superb. The location is great and only a 10 minute walk to the beach. The bay is a lovely quiet place and we will be back.

Everything was catered for and the goody bag and chocolates on arrival were very much appreciated after our journey. We were all impressed with the carpeted upstairs including the dog and my granddaughter was over the moon with the blue bathroom her favourite colour. The sea views from the verandah and the nearness to the beach enhanced our stay immensely. We enjoyed it so much we have already booked it for next year.

Another stay at the bay and always as fantastic as ever. House was perfect and location was amazing. Great views from the balcony overlooking the sea. Will definitely be returning.

This bay never fails us, great for the kids with all the amenities.

Just what we needed for somewhere to stay for a local family wedding. A very clean and comfortable property with all of the equipment etc which you could want for self-catering and close to the huge beach.

This is our 4th year at the bay. This was the most expensive. It was probably well worth the extra money, and I may come again in the future. Beautiful house with everything you need is there. You really don’t need to bring anything but your clothes. Paula was very easy to contact. We stayed for 2 weeks and the cleaners came after the first week and gave us fresh towels and sheets. Really good service.

Lovely location, cottage has everything you need and more.
Just tough with toddlers trying to keep them out of the knife drawers!
Just on arrival there are lots of plug in smelly things which are actually really bad for your lung health especially little ones.
I also really hate having the lawns being mown so often ( twice a week! Then the come round with a blower to clean up the massive mess!) and a path was being lain as we arrived last time meaning it wasn’t the most relaxing location to let the kids run around.
Is in all a wonderful cottage would just be great to have a few more things thought about to make it more child friendly.

Thanks for your review. Unfortunately we don't own the outside of the property so can't install a dog wash. However, an extended patio and a path is being laid in May 2023.
