Peaceful views and starry nights — but flies were a real issue

We stayed for four nights at Red Kite View and were initially blown away by how stunning the place is. The hot tub overlooks fields, and the interior is beautifully modern with high-quality furnishings. The upstairs decking offering lovely views and a real sense of privacy thanks to the surrounding bushes that shield neighbouring cabins.
We especially enjoyed sitting out in the evenings, the stars were incredible, and the Milky Way was directly overhead. Although the sunset was partially blocked by trees due to the time of year, it was still a lovely spot to unwind.
Unfortunately, the fly problem inside the property really impacted our experience. I’m quite sensitive to flies, and while I expect the odd one or two, we were dealing with twenty or more at a time — every day. We spent the first hour of our stay trying to get rid of them, and although there were plug-in traps and sticky tape, they weren’t very effective. One tape strip was placed directly above the dining table, which made eating there quite unpleasant. We kept food covered and doors closed, but the flies kept returning.
The house itself is very modern, but some of the appliances were tricky to use without instructions. We eventually figured out the oven, but the gas fire stumped us until Clare (the owner) kindly sent over guidance. She was very responsive and helpful with a couple of other small issues too, which we appreciated.
We gave a 4 out of 5 for comfort, mainly because the fly issue made it hard to fully relax indoors.
Another factor that put us slightly on edge was the £200 deposit scheme. It made us feel we had to report things we might otherwise have overlooked for example, the oven wasn’t cleaned properly on arrival, and we were concerned we might be charged for it. The optional insurance offered to cover the deposit was also quite expensive compared to other platforms we’ve used, so we chose not to take it.
Overall, we did enjoy aspects of our stay, the peaceful setting, the starry skies, and the quality of the accommodation but the fly situation and deposit setup are things that would make us think twice about returning.

We had a wonderful couple of nights at Red Kite View
The site was well maintained and quiet.
The lodge itself was stunning and everything had been thought of. The hot tub was a lovely touch too.
Thank you for a wonderful stay. We can’t wait to come back!

Lovely lodge on a working farm
Lodge clean and well laid out
Beautifully decorated and furnished thorough out
With it being on a farm there was a lot of flies so when cooking you do need to cover everything and when relaxing having a drink again you do have to waft the flies away
Could do with Netflix or something similar for when relaxing in an evening only had free view play which wasn’t great, couldn’t get any live tv

The whole place has been furnished to such a high standard and was so comfortable to stay in. We required a high chair and cot and these were ready upon our arrival. The hot tub was perfect both in the sunshine and rain. The location was fantastic, close to a local farm and some beautiful walks. Would recommend and hope to return again! Thank you for a lovely stay.
