We have stayed in 4 Bootham Row from 20th-23rd August and genuinely have really enjoyed ourselves. The location was perfect, literally a 2 minute walk before you find yourself in the main area of York. The apartment itself has everything you might possibly need, really lovely outdoor seating area. The room was super clean and really well presented. We can’t thank you enough for helping us when we needed you to and helping us to find this place under the circumstances! The ONLY thing I would possibly comment on is the pre-set thermostat was a bit annoying because it was a really warm night a...more
We loved this property. The owners are very welcoming and they have done a fantastic job of making a property that feels like a home whilst you stay there. The decor is superb and many little details have been thought about, such as providing dressing gowns, good mirrors, and flowers on the dining table. The outdoor space is wonderful with a relaxing view at the back of the property and a comfortable and lovely outdoor space. The property is so well equipped and just beautifully done. We were very happy with our stay and will certainly be returning. It is very convenient for York but give...more
Really can,t fault this place, great location with a lovely view of the river. Very clean and modern with everything you need provided. Would love to stay again and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of staying in York.
Great place to stay; fantastic location right next to the Minster, spacious, well equipped flat with everything we needed supplied.
The property was ideal for our weekend stay with three children. A television in every room impressed the latter
I would have no hesitation recommending this apartment for your stay in York . It is spotlessly clean, beautifully presented throughout and easily accessible to all amenities. I look forward to returning in the near future.
Such an amazing property - where do I start!? Large rooms, comfortable beds, lovely court-yard. Everything you need in the kitchen from good quality cooking utensils to wireless chargers, coffee machine to iron. The owners obviously care about their guests' stay and this is shown through such thoughtful touches like a welcome hamper, washing up liquid & washing capsules, nice toiletries, great selection of books to read, fragrant reed diffusers in the rooms. Great location within walking distance of all the York attractions and restaurants. The only downside was the end of our holiday mean...more
We had a fantastic time in York. The house was absolutely immaculate, clean and perfectly located within easy walking distance of the city centre. We will definitely be back.
Small but great studio with all you could need and more. Spotlessly clean. Fabulous having parking. Only minutes walk from the minster.
Located in the city centre in a really nice and quite area. Close to local shops. The apparent is modern it provides all the things you might need. The bathroom was huge!!
Unbeatable location and very clean. Thank you for hosting us. We were also allowed early checkin for free after calling day of which was super helpful
Brilliant apartment, clean and comfortable. Highly recommend and would definitely stay at the apartment again.
Comfortable, clean accommodation for our stay (parents+2 adult children). Outdoor table at back a bonus. Parking fine. Stays York info and welcome pack great.
Had a wonderful midweek stay here. We found the apartment to be very clean and well equipped. The location was excellent, only taking us 5 minutes to walk into the centre of York, but very quiet. Great to have parking at the front of the property too. The apartment was spacious enough for ourselves and two children. Given the high quality of the apartment and convenient location we felt it was good value for money.
Lovely clean apartment and outside patio ideal for having breakfast before setting off for the day. Would use this apartment again.
The cottage was refurbished this year so everything was brand new. It was well equipped and comfortable with its own private patio and garden looking out over fields with sheep and horses. A very rural feel but only just outside the outer ring road of York. There is a bus service (1 or 2 an hour) to the city centre close by, or alternatively the Park and Ride at Rawcliffe Bar is a couple of miles drive away and from there the buses to the city centre are fast, frequent, and run until late - around 10.30 pm. It is also worth noting that the accommodation is very close to the Clifton Moor Retai...more
I absolutely loved staying in this apartment. It's close to the City and is extremely comfortable. It's also beautifully furnished.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in York. The unit had fantastic views , was nice and central and the unit was very clean and very well appointed. The instructions were very clear and very good communication with staff. We will be back again.!
Lovely, ideally situated house with parking. We visit every year, after trying many others in York. Perfect.
The wardrove in this room is a bit small. It is a bit complicate to go in with so many codes. Furthernore, I did not receive them the firs day
Lovely brand new apartment really well equipped with hotel style fit out. The car park is fab. Two bathrooms is great. Location is perfect for city centre and lotsa of bars and restaurants. The instructions to find and enter the property were really good. Only small thing is the spec on apartment is really high but found the mattresses to really cheap and could feel the springs. With such a lovely finish and good quality linen it was a little bit of a disappointment.
This says it all: we planned to be there for a month but ended up staying for almost three. The condo is in the middle of the city and a short walk to everything - grocery, shops, restaurants, tourist sites. No need for a car. The kitchen is well equipped, the place is bright and airy, and the owners very nice. Would be hard to find a better place in a more central location that this one. We hope to return in the future!
Stayed at Castle Chambers for 3 weeks The location was ideal - 5 mins from the City Centre and all attractions The apartment was well maintained and beds were comfy The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and appliances Would highly recommend staying here Suggestions 1. Wish there was a Dryer in the apartment as ours was a long stay 2. Essential supplies like salt & sugar could have been there ...
Excellent apartment just a short walk from city centre. Only reason for 4 points instead of 5 is the close proximity to the railway line which could be intrusive when trains go by. We were blessed with good weather so we're able to use the lovely sunny roof terrace. We did have an issue with the burglar alarm going off one evening and we didn't have the code. However after ringing the emergency number Amanda called us back with the code so we were able to turn it off. Would definitely come again.
We loved the apartment and were really pleased with our Welcome Hamper courtesy of Stays York. It was a fantastic, luxurious trip to York, in such a fabulous apartment.
A lovely stay in York in a fully equipt comfortable house. Good location, 10 minute walk into the city centre.
Located in a great place, next to the castle. The flat was very clean and slept comfortably. Value for money
Enjoyed my stay at 10 the tannery the flat was cosy comfortable and in a great location Thanks for a lovely stay
102 Westgate is a lovely flat in a large modern apartment building, overlooking the River Ouse. The location is excellent, and the flat itself is modern and well-equipped. It is kept impeccably clean.
This is a great little flat in a relatively quiet part of York. Someone has gone to great effort to make it as comfortable as possible with excellent little touches we left some private feedback in the “oops” book which if implemented would make this place amazing. Just a word of caution regarding parking, we did not see at time of booking the risk of the private car park being flooded - thankfully it was not an issue however I would advise other guests who intend to use the private car park to check for flood warnings in the area before arrival.
Very quiet bolt hole to explore York. Great location with everything on your door step makes it easy to come and go as you please. Only Addition would be to have a couple of sets of stair gates as families travelling may be little ones.
We had a week here in August. The location of the house is great, and everything you need is within a short walk. Parking on the street is much easier than we thought it would be. The street is very quiet and there are plenty of parking spaces. The house itself was very clean, and had everything we needed. The beds in particular were extremely comfortable - I had the best night sleep in a long time!
Overall, very good and very pleased we chose this accomodation. Location was superb with secure parking. Flat itself was lovely, very clean, spacious and modern and compared to other properties in the area, to me the value vs what was on offer was excellent. Would recommend and stay again and liked the touch of a welcome gift, thank you. My improvements which is better suited than a negative left for no other reason than for the company to perhaps use as constructive feedback for future guests, although appreciate one of these is perhaps out of control on a new build appartment. No locks o...more
A beautiful location right in the middle of the river, furnished well and very comfortable, perfect for the two of us. Great location for the city center which is only a short walk away. Had all the amenities that we needed. Certainly a great base for a fantastic week in York. It is along way from the entrance to the suites to the apartment, so if you have a bit to carry take a trolley. There is no parking space but you can unload outside for 30 minutes for free. For a short cut into the city there is a walkway on the side of the building (runs above the apartments windows). Book it and try ...more
The apartment is really new and very well equipped. Since we've got our bikes with us the trip into York's center took only 3 minutes, on foot perhaps 10. So the location of the apartment is very good, Also a supermarket is only 5 minutes away on foot. The apartment is really nice. There are only two suggestions concerning the equipment: An extractor hood would avoid false alarms of the smoke detector in the kitchen, even if is only a circulating air model. An a fan would help to move the air in the rooms. Because the windows open to the same side, no natural "cross ventilation" is possi...more
Beautiful well thought out place just near the shambles. Well equipped extremely clean & will be back in December for the Christmas market
The Smithy was excellent everything you need in the property for a great holiday, I would thoroughly recommend anyone looking for a quiet place to stay and relax. Having a bus service running in to York every few minutes is perfect no need to take your car.
Small but perfectly formed! We stayed as a family of four (2 adults, 2 children). Great location, very clean and all the home comforts you need for a city break. On street parking was great, but the street is very narrow so a bit of a squeeze for wider cars. All and all, a great place to stay.
This is our 3rd stay at this beautiful apartment and it won’t be our last. The location is perfect and the view from the balcony is fantastic. Can’t wait for our next visit.
Apartment was clean on arrival. There was some noise from the street as the apartment is located in the city centre but not enough to keep us awake/ wake us up! Fab stay 10/10 would come again
Amazing property, good location. Amenities were well provided, they had everything. It was a cosy place, garden is a bit small but the property itself is very modern - highly recommend.
We enjoyed our stay and loved the splendid views from the penthouse, it is a comfortable and we'll equipped place to stay. There was an issue with ventilation, there was no way to secure open windows and it became very hot during the day with windows closed.
We really enjoyed our week at this beautiful apartment. The location was beside the river - close to lots of restaurants, pubs & cafes. It was very near the railway museum, which is a really enjoyable visit. (just allow at least 2/3 hours - maybe more} It is so interesting! And we are NOT train enthusiasts! The walks around the city walls were very nice - but windy! The apartment itself is so comfortable. Really well presented. And very modern. A lot of thought has gone into the interior design of the proprty. The balcony is lovely. (such a pity that we went while the river was in flood & the...more
Liked the short walk to the main York highlights and to Tesco Bathroom, bedroom and kitchen were well equipped. Would recommend to friends and also York as a interesting, manageable and historical small city to visit. Bill from Sydney, Australia
Very comfortable even if access arrangements were complex. Shower cubicle needs a new gasket to avoid flooding.
We stayed here for the last 6 nights of our honeymoon and it was a great place to stay. So modern and everything you need. It is literally on the door step of the city. It has the bonus of a secure car park included. Very comfortable bed and living area. Would definitely stay again. Also the staff at Stays York were fantastic, they sorted this apartment out for us as we had to leave our other accommodation (not booked through them), We had a slight problem on check out but they sorted within minutes (we couldn’t get out of the car park, it’s that secure). Nice touch was a bag of bits includin...more
Great location with a car park about 20 minutes walk from the apartment. Comfortable and modern and well equipped. There is a lift to the first level then a short flight of stairs to the actual apartment which has lovely city views.
We really enjoyed our stay at 48 Fairfax Street, York. The property is in excellent condition and perfect location for easy access into York. The property was well equipped and clean. Parking was a bit tricky, large vehicles will struggle through the narrow streets. The owners made us feel welcome, with some treats. Will definitely stay here again.
Overall excellent, but arrival info from YorkStays did not arrive until I called them on the morning of the arrival - but no issues otherwise
A lovely 2 bedroom apartment that is just a 5 minute walk into York Centre. The apartment is very comfortable and finished to high standards. I can recommend it.
Great location very clean 2 bedroom flat . Nice little touch with the goodies very close to all restaurants and shops
Cocoa suites is next to the river. It's a nice place. Everything was great! The apartment is really comfortable and the value for money it's really excellent, because York it's an expensive place.
We greatly enjoyed staying at this apartment. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to use and the bedrooms were roomy and comfortable. Mark and Liz were very friendly and helpful at our arrival and provided plenty of information about how everything in the apartment worked.
I've stayed at the property and it was brilliant: clean, comfortable, plenty of space and a lovely terrace where one can have drinks or dine in a peaceful back yard garden setting. Booking system and people I've dealt with were kind and very responsive.
We enjoyed staying at Queen's Court again. Great location, well appointed apartment. Couple of maintenance issues but otherwise excellent. Deposit returned quickly
Our second stay, we have visited York many times before and this is now our favourite property, ideally located just outside the city walls. Would definitely recommend!
Definitely would stay and recommend to friends and family, Was in the perfect location, the welcome package was also a lovely touch
Locate about 10 minutes walk from city centre. Quiet and private. Convenience as nearby supermarket and shopping area within 5 minutes walk.
Excellent location, spotlessly clean. Perfect for walking into York with everything you might need for a short break. Would definitely use again.
We haven’t had any cleaners come since we’ve here.Other than that it’s an absolutely amazing apartment and the agents at stay city have been so helpful throughout, really wonderful customer service. The location is beyond good, it’s is extremely convenient and town centre is less than a minute away.
Moat side Gate was the perfect property for our stay in York, especially with private off road and secure parking which was the reason we chose this cottage. Everything about the property was spotlessly presented, I would certainly chose to stay there again, but only if prices were at pre 2021, I was fortunate to have booked when I did in December 2020. The current charges are extortionate.
10 Summerhouse Mews is the perfect location for those wishing to explore York. We parked the car within the gated area of the mews and didn't even use it during the five days we were there. The apartment is within a few minutes walk of the city centre yet is very quiet. The property was very clean and had all the facilities you would hope hope for including free Wi-Fi and smart TV. Although we didn't need it there was central heating throughout the property. Our only gripe was that we found the beds to be rather lumpy and uncomfortable. However, apart from that small problem we found it a ...more
apartment was local to all amenities. excellent communication from the letting agency. Would definitely recommend a stay here. Very quiet area. I will certainly stay here again
We stayed at the apartment for the purpose of visiting the races and sightseeing in York, and the location of the apartment was great. We were a little apprehensive at first as it overlooks the Royal Mail sorting office, but if the windows were closed there was very little noise. The apartment was clean and was very well equipped. Stays York we’re extremely helpful with a query I had prior to arrival. All in all a very pleasant stay and would recommend and book again.
The location is excellent for exploring all the main sites in York centre and there are lots of good eating places very near. The apartment is well equipped and is very quiet. Would recommend it and would stay again on a future visit to York.
We were very pleased with this property. The location was perfect as we had rail passes and the station was about a five minute walk away, and the centre of the enchanting medieval city was only a five minute walk across the river where there is a Marks and Spencer's food floor and most other types of retail outlets. A beautifully renovated flat, with a very spacious and comfortable feel, and we felt we were coming to a relaxing "home" every evening. The kitchen is beautifully appointed with lots of counter space and very well equipped with kitchenware, dishes, etc. The master bedroom was...more
I highly recommend this place. Very confortable with everything you need. Perfect for couples and families with children. It is the second time we stay here. We Feel as in Home! Perfect location in the centre of York.
We have stayed here 4 times and the apartment is well maintained, in an excellent location and very well appointed. Ideal for 1 or 2 couples and very quiet and completely secure with on site parking a real bonus.
Stayed here for 4 days visit to York and it was ideal. Great location 5 minutes walk to centre of York. Very quiet and peaceful you would never think you were in a city. Apartment was spotless and very comfortable. Exactly like the pictures. Loads of hot water and great shower after sightseeing all day. Had everything needed including milk tea and coffee left for your arrival. Having a secure parking space made all the difference as we travelled from Scotland and didn’t know the area so knew our car was safe in locked car park on premises. I would highly recommend this apartment to friends and...more
Fabulous apartment in central location. Only short walk to York city centre. Apartment was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Staff at Stays York were easily contactable and helpful. A lot of stairs to go up and down to keep you fit! Loved our weekend here.
This apartment was fabulous. Great views of York Minster and very close to the centre. Was very spacious and well equipped and very safe. There is a lift to the first floor. We had a small balcony overlooking York Minster and another larger one off the main bedroom. Would definitely use again. We parked in Marygate car park, it’s about a 10minute walk.
The house really suits us in layout and especially city centre location. It is clean and well equipped. Cant park on street and Nearest car park very expensive we used just park app but it was a long walk to fetch car but didn’t need it much. Recommend ice cream in front of art gallery by Bootham Bar, Everyman cinema, museum gardens. We had a lovely stay.
We stayed for one week in early August. We arrived at 4pm (keys are collected and returned via a key safe near the entrance lobby) but unfortunately the apartment had not yet been cleaned or beds changed, it was also very hot and stuffy, so we opened the windows and the cleaners arrived a few minutes later, were apologetic and asked us to vacate until at least 5pm. When we returned the apartment was clean, it feels new, modern and tastefully appointed with artwork on the walls. The master bedroom with en-suite is the room which converts to twin beds so our two teenage sons took that room, ...more
Recently refurbished, clean, quiet flat close to city centre. Second bedroom was smaller than depicted on the website, with the pull out bed erected there was only half a metre space between the 2 beds which were against each wall so really not big enough to be a twin bedroom, ok for smaller kids perhaps but a bit tight for my 2 teens! Ideal as a single bedroom however. Flat was well equipped with iron, ironing board, hairdryer and all kitchen utensils required. Towels, sheets etc. all good quality, new and clean. Kitchen immaculately clean and new, likewise the bathroom which had a good, p...more
Great location for town. Nice apartment. Fantastic to have washer dryer. Lovely shower. Bed ok but did not quite fit frame, there was a gap between the mattress and the frame which was a bit uncomfortable. Carpet a little dirty and could do with a clean. Lovely stay though and enjoyed it would definitely come back
A lovely property and great family stay. Would return and also recommend. It’s a new property with a great location and the safe parking was a huge bonus.
I stayed in cocoa suite 11 for 2 weeks. It is an axcellent accommodation, brand new, near the city center though in a very quiet area, in a former industrial building on the river completely restored, on the river which make all this a charming stay as well. It is fully equipped, perfectly clean, with WiFi, new tv. I would recommend it certainly. The only trifle is the bed a little too small for two people and the amount of money paid for a two week stay. They should offer discounts for long period . The rest is perfect.
Great location, lovely modern apartment. My only criticism is the sofa and bed are not so comfortable after a week or two.
Nunnery Lane was the perfect house for our stay, 3 adults and 2 children. Great position & immaculate .
Perfect for couples. Nothing was open in the town due to covid which was disappointing however it’s located between York/Scabrough and robin hoods bay (40 min drive each way). wish they would of had blinds on the skylight windows as the daylight woke us up extremely early every morning. Other then this the stay was lovely and comfortable.
This is a great cottage, very comfortable in a brilliant location. I would give it 4 out of 5. It would be 5 out of 5 if the kitchen was a little better equipped as there are not many dishes available if you want to self-cater, and if the internal lights that have failed were fixed.
The flat is in a fantastic central location to explore York while at the same time being set back away from the road so there is no street noise. It has clearly been recently renovated and there are large windows to let in plenty of natural light.
The apartment was very clean, although a bit of attention to detail was needed for the cutlery and crockery. The welcome pack was really thoughtful with some lovely touches. The location was top notch and even though you had to walk through a dentist surgery to get to the apartment, this wasn’t a problem. The ceilings were low with it being a loft apartment, but you quickly got used to this. Overall, we would recommend staying here and we know we certainly will be again
The house was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and spacious. The street is very quiet and ideally located for walking into the town.
Stayed here Monday to Friday, family of 3 including 16 year old and had a fab few days! Apartment has a great layout over 3 floors with lovely spacious bathrooms and bedrooms and a comfortable lounge diner which is well equipped. Wifi was superfast so teenager happy! Lovely garden area with outdoor seating, perfect for early evening chill outs. Parking area just a few minutes walk and so able to just park up and walk into city centre in around 10 mins so great location, our fave bit(& one of reasons fot booking!)was Dough bakery literally just next door & serving delicious breads, pastries, ...more
Needs a/c.. in the bedrooms. 1 skylight is very poor...sauna like. Open it and loud road noise. No air flow. No sleep.... Also poor communication.
Great stay in York fantastic location Small issues encountered faulty lock on one of the doors Loose carpet on stairs Very high bar stools under kitchen island difficult eat comfortably Extremely low bed in main bedroom need good knees to rise from lying down but may be due to sloping ceiling on both sides (watch your head)
The holiday let was beautiful exactly as pictures etc. However, we couldn’t get in before 4pm on the Saturday and had to vacate the property by 10pm on the Monday. Therefore, this was an expensive stay when we only got one full day!!! Disappointing.
Immaculately clean throughout, with a well equipped kitchen, two spacious doubles, and an adequate twin room. It had a nice atmosphere and was in a good location with easy access to York Centre and Bishopthorpe Road. Whilst there was plenty of on street parking it was a tad tight. The house was functional and equipped with the required basics for our stay. The mattresses on the beds were very soft, with feather duvets and pillows - which might be an irritant to some.
Booked at the last minute but not disappointed. Super location, lovely accommodation and very clean. Would highly recommend!
We had a great week in York staying at the Annex and would consider staying there again but there were areas that did not meet our expectations and we would probably look for something else nearby. The house is comfortable and well furnished and the location in terms of visiting York attractions probably could not be beaten. It was however the outside space that sold the property to us and unfortunately there were some issues. The wild garden look at the rear of the garden by the amazing city walls was great and the beehives really interesting with the old walled turret a unique view, however ...more
Generally I found it a very decent studio flat. The facilities were what I was looking for and the specification of the interiors is good. The location is very good in terms of its vicinity to York city centre and the local retail park with supermarkets and it is also quiet. There were problems with the quality of the wifi connection for a few days so this is something that should be looked into, as good quality wifi is an absolute necessity for most people in this day and age.
The house is in a great location and is comfortable and generally well equipped. A great spot for exploring York.
Great location just inside city walls with 5 minutes walk to local shoos and 10 minutes walk to city centre. Quiet and easy parking. Comfortable and decor like stepping back in time (in a good way) with thousands of books adirning the walls. Everything you could need in kitchen and bathroom. If being picky, tv a little small by today's standards and limited space to hang smart clothes. A welcome pack detailing how to use facilities ans getting on wifi would be useful but easy enough to work things out. Perfect for a city break.
Very central good position, very secre. The patio windows hadn’t been cleaned for awhile, dust on window ledges,f dried food on underneath of oven handle
The location was fantastic and brilliant that every bedroom had an en-suite. The downstairs is lovely and we really enjoyed the facilities. One of the bedrooms had paper pealing off the ceiling and we moved a bed to put a cotbed in and there was a lot of dust and dirt that I had to clean. All in all a good stay just think a bit of TLC with a lick of paint and a deep clean in bedrooms wouldn’t go a miss.
The apartment was lovely and clean with plenty of utensils , crockery etc. and a 10 minute walk from everything. The welcome hamper was much appreciated as was the cloths, washing liquid, washing and dishwasher tabs. A lot of places do not supply these. The only criticism is that it’s a very hot house with no air flow even with all the windows open so difficult to sleep, so maybe providing air conditioner units in the bedrooms would be helpful. Also maybe another 2 seater sofa instead of the tiny chair would be more comfortable for 4 adults.
Brilliant location, comfy beds and high spec appliances all made pheasant house a real pleasure to stay in. A few additions however would really help, no where in any of the rooms to store your clothes, no air drier to dry clothes, no extra towels or sheets in the cupboard. Extra sheets were requested as a night cover due to the hot weather but no one ever got back to me. Overall a lovely stay made even better by the glorious weather, some of the comments above would have made the stay more comfortable.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Discovery cottage. Beautiful accommodation in a great location. Only slight grumble, 1x TV does not work in the down stairs bedroom. When I raised this with Stays York they were aware of this however no solution to fix this was made. This room was used to get ready for my wedding day preparations also which was a little frustrating.
This flat is very well located for York, and it generally well appointed. However, it is let down by two poor quality mattresses and poor quality polyester bedding - the stays York team did their best to resolve whilst we were there, but sent two cheap polyester toppers. Additionally, this is a ground floor flat without security straps/catches on the windows, so it is vey hot overnight. Cleaning was average, some litter under sofas and crumbs on the carpet. Quick fixes would make for a better stay.
Me and my girlfriend stayed in studio 44 for a week and it’s the best week away I’ve had. Lovely apartment with all the necessary appliances and modern interior. Would recommend for anyone especially couples. 10/10!!
Apartment quite spacious for 2 people.Central position. Fairly quiet apartment considering it’s proximity to a bar . Bedroom carpet was dirty and no water glasses, limited crockery ,poor quality.Freezer was totally iced up & could not be used . The state of the carpet was reported & the condition of the freezer . cleaners were sent a couple of days later ( as it was a bank holiday) and cleaned it well, defrosted the freezer also & provided 4 tumblers. The apartment should have been checked prior to our arrival ,instead we used part of our holiday reporting these problems - not a good start ...more
Loved everything about the flat. Two things I wasn’t happy about. One is my booking was initially confirmed for another flat which showed it was available on HomeAway then the owners cancelled saying the property was already booked by someone else. Second time I booked this property it got confirmed and again it got cancelled by the owners saying there was a problem with the scheduling. Ultimately they gave me the property for a day less than I wanted. Other than that the check out time being 11 am was not convenient but that’s their rule so I guess acceptable.
We have stayed at the Raithwaite cottages 3 times this year and love the position they are in near beautiful Sandsend beach but our last stay there on 18th August 2021 there was no welcome pack at all and no toiletries which although this maybe due to covid restrictions we were given earlier in the year and so were disappointed when there was nothing at all.
Excellent location to city center. Parking was easy. The house when first walking in feels like the owners have just walked out the door. Their personal belongings are all over the house from clothes to mail and files of paperwork. When you read the handbook all the rules of what you can and can't do were explained in a nice way but these should be explained when booking.. Any cupboard or door with red spots your not allowed to be used which is OK but empty your clothes out the wardrobes you can use. Not allowed to sit on the chair in the master bedroom to do your make up, so provide one...more
Lovely stay at city walls apartment. Excellent location 5-10minutes walk into the centre with many shops and restaurants even closer than this. Apartment itself was comfortable. It was very hot while we stayed, one fan provided which was great a further for second bedroom would have been helpful. Well equipped although no hoover/long handle brush made it difficult to clean up during stay. (Roller brush did not work). Our main issue was the rather odd smell of the apartment. On opening door hit with a smokey/musty smell (not cigarettes) which was present throughout and remained, although less...more
I stayed in the cottage for three months and I was very sad to leave. It's very comfortable, private and secure. The team at stays york were really nice to communicate with. Always quick to reply to emails and answer questions. Would definitely recommend this cottage and this company if looking for a short term rental property. It's right In the centre of York with everything needed on the doorstep
Fantastic location and a nice modern room, but bed/sofa etc quite basic and cheap for the price we paid.
The apartment was great overall and in have a fantastic time location. The overall cleanliness really could have been better, but with a pair of old socks found under the sofa, the along with a mountain of dust. Also with the windows not opening and no air conditioning or fans, the the apartment was stuffy and overly hot. The bed was also very basic and quite uncomfortable, with it even more stuffy when trying to sleep. Some air conditioning, and a comfy mattress and professional cleaning and then it would be worth it's value.
Cons: I marked cleanliness down 1 as whilst there we spilt milk on the hard floor and in wiping it up, the wipes came away grey. We also happened to stay in the hottest July week (28oC at points). The whole living/dining/kitchen area faces onto a balcony with 3 sets of double doors along the wall, but only 1 door was able to be opened. The other 2 sets of double doors had had their handles and locks removed (hinges still in place) so they wouldn't open, and the other door from the set that would open seemed stuck - all in all making it very hot and stifling in the living space and less comfort...more
This was a great base for our three night stay in York. The house was smart, clean and very comfortable. The location is excellent- local shops and cafes but with the city centre an easy walk away. We had no problem parking and the permit was very useful. We will definitely stay again!
Firstly and most importantly the studio was spotless when we arrived, very good cleaning, as you'd expect while still in a pandemic. A rather nice hamper awaited which added to the wow when we got there. The bed was lovely and certainly no problems there. Plenty of plug sockets, more than anyone could need. But general decor was lovely and welcoming. But unfortunately there are a few things I would pick up on, that all in all really did change my opinion on the stay. Firstly, I could hear every movement from the people upstairs. I wouldn't expect full sound proofing but when it comes to wo...more
The apartment was as expected however the main problem was car parking. The information pack that is supplied by 'Stay York' suggests the closest car park is Shambles Q Park which isn't correct. Having taken this information at face value and having pre-booked with Q Park and paid pennies short of £70 for 3 nights parking it was extremely disappointing to find that parking was available outside the apartment block. Admittedly the charges would have been similar to that at Q Park however it would have been more convenient given that the walking distance of approximately 500 metres from the apar...more
