A quaint mid terrace cottage sitting in the hamlet of Kilmahog on the outskirts of Callander. The cottage sleeps five with two double bedrooms and one single room and a family bathroom. With a comfortable lounge, dining area, modern kitchen dining area and a utility room. The cottage overlooks open fields, a lovely garden patio area where you can sit and relax and enjoy the surroundings. A great base for enjoying the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and surrounding areas. Follow the Trossachs Trail where you can stop and see Loch Katrine and the Sir Walter Scott Steamship or the David Marshall Lodge where you can Go Ape are popular visitor attractions. Closer to the cottage you have the Bracklinn Falls and Callander Crags for lovely walks. Callander offers a variety of shops, small supermarkets, bars and restaurants. Summer season sees a good timetable of events including the Highland Games.

Nothing short of perfect!

We had a lovely time. The cottage is very well furnished, spaceous and equipped with everything you might ever need! A nice table in the back garden allows you to enjoy a meal surrounded by beautiful nature. We can highly recommend a stay at Mid Cottage east!

The area of Scotland where Mid Cottage East lies is very beautiful. The air is fresh. It makes you feel good. There are mountains and hills, streams, burns, rivers, lakes and lochs. It is very green. It is not surprising, therefore that it rains a lot! BUT... that didn't stop us. The old railway line runs through the beautiful countryside from central Scotland to Inverness. It is great for cycling and walking; for folk of all ages. There are many lovely villages and small towns along the route ( and fresh raspberries and bilberries on the bushes along the way).
You don't need to be a cyclist, but if you are it is 'heaven', safe and peaceful.
Callander is a quiet tourist destination. Lots of cafes; shops with gifts; small hotels; a craft shop and a selection of interesting charity shops. Plenty of parking spaces and a river with swans and ducks with walks and a play-park for the children. Family bikes for hire locally with trailers for the very young. Plus the lovely, modern, well-equipped cottage 'Mid Cottage East' where we stayed. I took books to read but even though it was raining, I didn't read any of them. We really enjoyed our stay.

One hitch was that we were given the wrong code on arrival and couldn't get in! We had to ring up and find out why, and eventually were oven the right code. We suggest that guests might bring a torch if arriving after dark as without this it is extremely difficult to read the code.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay as you had related in our phone conversation. When you phoned at the arrival time we managed to resolve the key code within five minutes which wasn't ideal and we offered our sincere apologies. We had left the outer door open and the outside light on but a kindly neighbour had been along and turned off the light and locked the door. We are glad this got resolved within minutes of your arrival time.
