Normally we only need one bedroom when we stay in Painswick (usually a couple of times a year) but this time we had a third person staying with us and so we chose Stable Cottage which has two very comfortable bedrooms both with ensuite. We were delighted with our choice. Everything worked perfectly from making the booking, to the communication leading up to our visit and including our stay itself. Stable Cottage is nicely furnished and the kitchen very well equipped (a bread knife would be a nice addition and we couldn't find a dustpan and brush to keep the kitchen floor tidy). The parking s...more
Lovely cottage with excellent accessible facilities in a beautiful location. The friendly owners are on hand to give any support or advice.
Absolute fantastic place to stay, great with the children, so much freedom would definitely recommend. The cleanliness was immaculate. Attention to detail is 2nd to none, lovely couple who run the accommodation. Wish the family who are running it all the best in the future. Absolutely brilliant very homely The Theakstone family
We checked in for the long weekend and it was just spectacular! The location the views and above all the hosts. They made us feel at home and literally took care of us throughout. I would highly recommend this place for a short trip or even if you are looking to get married as they have done up their new barn now!
What an amazing time we had on our recent holiday In devon. This self catering accommodation was absolutely fabulous and we will definitely be returning. The location was brilliant. The views were incredible, the owners and the lady who works for them they were all absolutely brilliant with our whole family They looked after us so well and couldn’t do enough for us , the man even brought a little cow to see us and the children, it was just so lovely. Our place was spotless and they had thought of everything. Thank you for a fabulous holiday. We just wished the sun ☀️ would’ve shone a little b...more
We stayed at Poppy's Barn. The cottage is lovely and the interior feels very high-quality. It had everything we needed (washing machine, pans, cafetiere, etc.). We went in November, so lots of stormy weather but the cottage was warm and cosy. You'll need a car, but if you have one there are lovely walks and beaches only 15mins away.
Great location and amazing place to stay. Kick back and sit and admire the views. Enjoy preparing the hot tub and look forward to a warm welcome from your hosts. So clean so easy to use. Relax and take time out. This is the perfect place to stay.
Our needs for this property wasn't for a holiday unfortunately, however mika and Mark were extremely kind helpful and very accommodating for our situation. The views from the property are great and there are multiple areas for seating to have a drink and something to eat. The accommodation is only a short drive from various towns and seasides. The property is highly recommended its comfortable warm and very well equipped the underfloor heating is great and the log fire a bonus. I'll be back again for a visit under different circumstances without a doubt. Thankyou mika and Mark.
We would say that the Shippon is a very high end holiday let. Everything has been well thought through and is very warm and comfortable and done to a high standard. The outside space with hot tub and plenty of comfortable seating. It makes a really lovely place to sit at the end of a day exploring all of the North coast line not far from you. Also the bonus of being dog friendly. Plenty of thought for your pet is catered for. Looking forward to a return visit .
We all had a beautiful holiday in seaweed was such a lovely clean & pleasent home to stay in was great that there was a downstairs bedroom & bathroom was perfect for my mum who is 94 yrs the location was perfect.was made even more special to be welcomed with a welcoming pack the Swedish chocolate cake with clotted cream was delicious including the bottle of Prosecco & other treats thankyou to the lovely Nikki & Mark for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home would definitely return again love Maryanne,Eileen,Craig & Joan xx xx xx xx
Our extended family rented four of the cottages for a long weekend and we had a lovely time. The swimming pool, games room and conservatory are such nice sociable spaces and cater for kids and adults alike. The views are gorgeous, the cottages are cosy and the owners are super friendly and helpful. Can't recommend enough!
This is our second stay at Seagulls, and we hope to return. It is a very comfortable, clean holiday home in probably the best location in St Mawes. Everything you could need is provided and there are spectacular views from most rooms and the terrace and garden. Lovely that they allow dogs to stay. Huge, dog proof garden, that runs down to the sea. A very pretty and quiet beach just a few minutes walk along the coast path at the bottom of the garden and St Mawes centre just a very pleasant 10/15 minute stroll away. Great value and highly recommended.
Stayed for two weeks in August. The mids aged 8 and 12 love the cottage. Different rooms to hide and play in. A short drive to Woolacombe beach, and Exmoor Zoo and a bit further to The Milky Way Adventure Park and The Big Sheep, both of which the kids loved. Back at the cottage we had a couple of barbecues and the kitchen was even easy enough for Daddy to navigate and cook! 20 minutes to Barnstaple if you need to get supplies in. Bedrooms were great. Beds nice and comfy. They came and changed bedding and towels for fresh after week one. It’s in the countryside and you can see sheep wonderin...more
We stayed with extended family in this beautiful and spacious house. Poor weather but great place for exploring Dartmoor. Games room very popular will all!
A really lovely stay in nicely located accommodation. All very clean and tidy. A nice short walk to the centre and to the beach. We have already booked for next year.
Nice cottage down a long narrow country lane. Very warm with underfloor heating Kitchen very small with modest fridge, we made the mistake of doing a Tesco shop prior to arriving. Pubs a 4 mile drive.
We had a wonderful stay at the Shippen - the location, just a short walk away from town and Readymoney Beach, was perfect for us and our kids aged 9 and 11. The house is well equipped and had everything we needed for the week. The only thing we hadn't expected was that access to the kids' bedroom is through the double, making for very little privacy for parents!
A super cottage which provides an excellent base for our extended family holiday. The cottage was very well equipped and spacious enough to allow 9 of us quality time together but also for each of the 3 family units to have its own space. Spacious inside and outside.
We stayed at swallow cottage for a week over the Easter break. The weather wasn't the best but my 2 boy's aged 7 & 11 had plenty to do including dips in the indoor heated swimming pool and fun in the well equipped games room. The hosts we're brilliant and helpful but not intrusive just leaving us to enjoy the stay. They even put on a Easter egg hunt for all the kids staying with cakes and drinks for both children and adults, even the adults had suprise egg's in the hunt! Basically we had a brilliant stay and will almost definitely return for another great holiday.
grill pan left in a disgusting state in the oven upon arrival. Stain on pillowcase and outside terrace steps covered in leaves potentially slippy if wet. Spiral staircase more tricky than expected.But,. Overall a fabulous holiday and the issues raised should easily be rectified.
We loved our visit to Coast view. Brilliant location to visit with 3 Babies under two and a teenager. House clean and comfortable and plenty of space for us all. Wonderful to have beach on the doorstep and the wonderful garden to the rear. Only two negatives would have loved a bigger fridge and the sun beds needed a bit of a clean. But these are small things and really would not deter us from visiting again. Thank you My Favourite Cottages you were helpful, informative and nothing was too much trouble. Always quick to respond to any queries and we’re always so professional.
We fell in love with this cottage from watching the beautiful video on YouTube and were not disappointed. We were delighted to find a cottage that had all the accessible features we required for my husband's disabilities. It was our first holiday with the challenges of a wheelchair but we experienced no real difficulties staying in this property. It was warm, comfortable, clean and cosy, tastefully decorated throughout. It was useful having the owners, Sue and Tom, next door, on hand to answer questions and respond to requests. They were always friendly and approachable. We hope to come back i...more
A well converted farm building. Big beds, very comfortable. Could do with storage space for empty cases during the holiday. Prompt response to hot water problems.
A very enjoyable stay , despite the weather. All that we needed was available .Would recommend stay for a family with easy access to beaches and towns .
Stsyed here with my extended family and had the best time. The kitchen/lounge spaced worked really well for us as we were able to keep an eye on the little ones whilst we cooked etc. The kitchen was really well stocked with all the equipment you could possibly need. The outside space was beautiful and very peaceful. The kids loved running around the play area, it provided lots of entertainment. Location was great, short drive to both Ilfracombe and Woolacombe and quick drive to a big shop.
We have two young kids and staid in the Tallet Upper. It’s a very beautiful spot with views from every window!!! The house is warm and well equipped for cooking. The shower has great water pressure and always had hot water. The kids also loved the big bath tub. The surrounding grounds are beautiful, clearly well maintained with space for the kids to roam and an outdoor eating area. Easy parking near the house. Lots to do and see within an easy drive. A great holiday spot!!
Our second stay here at Talland Croft. Everything was set up according to our wishes, thanks to Lisa for this. Very clean, spacious and very accommodating house. The utility is an absolute godsend when you have so many wetsuits, cozzies and towels to sort daily. Fabulous kitchen with quality tableware with 2 fridges....1 for the beer and wine! Bedrooms all really good. The family bathroom would definitely benefit with a fixed shower over the bath, but we managed by sharing the en-suites. Superb, safe garden for the family and dogs, for bbqs and star gazing. We took an extra washing l...more
Great views, very comfortable beds, and brilliant showers. Just what is needed in any holiday cottage. The oven was a bit complicated to use but sorted when we found the instruction book
We loved the location of the cottages and grounds and beautiful lake. However the downside to Blare Cottage is that there was no view from any window and it was quite dark downstairs. Good for short stay and ideally located for the wonderful beaches that are not far away In a car and the surrounding countryside. But disappointing because of positioning of Blare Cottage.
We have stayed in better accommodation for less money so we will probably not visit north Devon again and stick with property on the south coast .
We had the most wonderful time at Biallid House - it was the perfect place to bring the family together, and the perfect location for exploring our family history in the Cairngorms. We had a fantastic time and are already planning to come back! Thanks for everything
Haven’t been to Woolacombe for 4 years after previously going annually for 12 years - still a lovely family resort with fab beach but we thought some places had gone downhill unfortunately and without The Beachcomber to go to next year we think we might give Woolacombe a miss as there isn’t an abundance of eateries - we did enjoy Miss Fea’s Bistro in Morthoe, The Jube and The Meraki Coffee Co. The house is probably in the best location - it has wonderful sea views that I don’t think can be beaten by any other Woolacombe property. The bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely although it would have...more
Firstly we had a lovely holiday, the location was perfect for us. The house whilst needing a bit of updating (old rusty microwave etc.) is overall okay, with good bathrooms/showers. We had a number of challenges with 7/8 adults staying, which may not be an issue for smaller groups. There is only a very small under counter fridge, which wasn’t working well, certainly not large enough to cater for a week or two for 8 if you plan BBQ/cooking. One of the eight beds is actually a ‘camp bed’ so for an adult was not practical and thus was squeaky. A number of pieces of garden furniture were ...more
This holiday homes views are amazing, beds are comfortable, I felt a pint of milk a few teabags and a couple of sachets of coffee would have been in order, house felt basic, still enjoyable, however I do have to comment on the parking issues. I rang before booking to check about parking for our VW, I was told it was fine. It was far from fine, the first night we nearly burnt the clutch out , then we felt grounded because we didnt want to keep risking the same situation, then we were asked to move from where we were told to park, so all in all a mess, fine if you have a small car there is a gar...more
Old world charm country cottage , good size rooms . Limited access to upstairs. Staircase steep not suitable for the elderly. Quiet location with good access for parking but only limited roadway to cottage. I.e only room for one car on roadway on lane.
We had extended family together of 23 in total staying at the property. Plenty of space for all of us. The views are amazing and the property has large spacious rooms.
Warm, comfortable stay. Quiet and family friendly. Lots to do locally. Really enjoyed our holiday. Many thanks!
Very comfortable, and in a great location. The countryside is magnificent. The fishing is mostly dependent on spates.
The cottage was nice, but dark inside always needed a light on in kitchen, very clean and comfortable beds very comfy only downside no mop and bucket no vacuum cleaner, nowhere to hang damp coats or damp towels, could do with some hooks at the back of the doors in bedrooms, but still enjoyed our stay.
Well out of the way, a relaxing break. Village shop and pub a credit to the residents. 25 minutes to a choice of beaches. Give it a go!!
Enjoyed our stayed however I did experience some mobility issues with ie with steps up to the cottage and obviously the stairs. Would also have preferred a firmer mattress on the beds too , Thank you
Overall we were very happy with our week at Nuide House. It is not walking distance into Newtonmore but easy access out to the main road for visiting everywhere by car. The furnishings are a little tired but comfortable and I would have liked a bigger kitchen but it worked well for our family. Thank you
Good accommodation great location House was opposite beach and Instow being a small village was close to everything in Instow Great view from balcony were you can sit out and admire beautiful views also great at night time with the lights from Appledore town Would stay again and off road parking a big help just a little tight to get on to drive from road but achievable over all a good stay
It’s a comfortable and well-equipped house with some wear and tear, especially some issues with moisture in the home. Overall would recommend.
Just returned from a week at the Byre. Very nice property, well positioned for exploring North Devon.
The cottage was very clean and well stocked with cleaning materials. The kitchen has everything you need. The place is cosy and welcoming. The narrow road to the cottage is typical of Devon lanes so care is needed. A small friendly shop in the small town. A short drive to a large Tesco where you can stock up. The mattress in the main bedroom is appalling and must be changed. I slept terribly! The Wi-fi is intermittent bear this in mind if it is an integral part of your stay.
We arrived on a cold and wet Friday afternoon to a clean and warm cottage. The cottage had good WiFi coverage but no mobile coverage as it is in a valley so if you want to plan a route out do it before you leave the cottage. Also beware of unmade roads close by that some navigation apps may try and take you down. Fortunately we have a good 4x4 with adjustable suspension so we didn't loose the sump and didn't get stuck.
Excellent location for hills. Helpful & efficient staff. Lovely views. Cottage was well equipped & comfortable for 6-8 walkers with 3 twin rooms & one double & 2 bathrooms.
We booked Diana’s cottage for a weekend with grandchild of 10 months to attend a 90th birthday party in Braunton. First impressions were that we’d walked into faulty towers…it’s a very old building and it looks like the decor hasn’t changed much either …reminded me of my grans house when I was a kid. The views are great and it’s a large property with a huge garden area so if you want quiet then it would be great. The bed linen was clean and crisp. The house was very warm heated by a number of storage heaters and mobile heaters, some of which set too high with a toddler roaming. However f...more
