We came to the Big Barn to celebrate my Mum's 80th celebration - 4 families totalling 15, with an age range of 7 - 80 years coming together for 3 nights. We were delighted with the house which gave us all the space we needed - the large, well equipped kitchen where we all came together for meals, the 2 comfy living rooms which were great for games, reading or relaxing and the 5 clean and comfy bedrooms, all with en-suites. The games room with hot tub was an extra treat and enjoyed by all the family. Location was perfect for countryside walks which were easily accessible from the pro...more
It was the first time spending Christmas away with the kids, I took a risk as was a minimum if a 4 our car journey with 2 kids, 3 dogs and 2 adults to fit in the car along with luggage, presents and food for only 3 nights including Christmas day. But it was so worth it, the farm and landscape was stunning with amazing walks and a beautiful little house for us to stop in. The family were amazing, they were more than happy to take my kids around the farm to meet the animals, including a 6 day old highland cow which was amazing (holly the baby highland was a delight but Bruce the Highland was...more
Had a lovely relaxing break, well equipped for everything we needed for our stay, Highly recommend as Shaun and Kath are great hosts. We plan on returning for another holiday in the future
We stayed for a week in this lovely cottage. The kitchen was amazing and had everything you could possibly need. It was light and airy and spotlessly clean. It was very centrally placed for visiting all North Devon has to offer without travelling too far. The owners live next door and were very welcoming, kind and helpful, especially with suggestions of places to visit and eat. We would love to stay again one day.
When we first stepped in we were amazed at the home, and it was a fantastic base for a long weekend in North Devon. Everything was clean and of a high standard, the hot tub was warmed up, it was a cosy cottage to relax for a morning and evening. A very peaceful place to stay, we will be back at some point soon.
Seaweed Cottage was a very comfortable, clean, bright and roomy home from home. It was spacious for a family of four (adults) and dog! Beds were comfortable and the cottage was well stocked with all we needed, including bed linen and towels. Showers were decent and there is a handy porch for coats and boots. It was literally a 5 minute walk to Combe Martin beach, shops and cafe's. The Black and White chippy was great (3 min walk), and the Ice cream parlour Sugar Rush was amazing. There is not much of a garden, but we didn't feel the need to have one as were so close to the beach. ...more
Our extended family rented four of the cottages for a long weekend and we had a lovely time. The swimming pool, games room and conservatory are such nice sociable spaces and cater for kids and adults alike. The views are gorgeous, the cottages are cosy and the owners are super friendly and helpful. Can't recommend enough!
A last minute decision to go away for half term led us to Ford Hill Cottage and it was wonderful. On arrival we were met by Adam who showed us around the property and presented us with the most generous of welcome hampers. Adam and Janet were always available but never ‘got in the way’ - perfect hosts. The cottage is far more spacious than the pictures suggest and is furnished to a high standard and we particularly liked the extremely comfortable beds. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need but with a fantastic range of pubs and restaurants within a 20 minute drive you may find ...more
We stayed with extended family in this beautiful and spacious house. Poor weather but great place for exploring Dartmoor. Games room very popular will all!
Had a wonderful week away despite the rain- enjoyed the lovely log burner and the great hot tub that we enjoyed everyday. Beautiful location, tranquil and a very relaxing break away
We probably chose the wettest week ever for our holiday to Lynton so our first impressions of Coachman's Quarters were not great. To avoid getting drenched we used the kitchen entrance at the bottom of the property accessed past all the bins for the whole building. The kitchen was dark and slightly damp smelling but beautifully fitted out and immaculately clean. The spiral staircase to the bedroom floor is very narrow and it's quite a challenge carrying things up. The bedroom and bathroom again are very pleasant and clean but no view from the window. Going up a second normal staircase b...more
We had a fabulous week at The Shippen despite the very wet weather. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and very well equipped if you are self catering. Due to the clever layout of the cottage there was plenty of space for 3 adults and 2 dogs. The walk down to Readymoney Cove for the dogs was great followed by a lovely stroll into the centre of Fowey. Lots of lovely places to eat and drink. Visited lots of places around Fowey, Cardinham Woods was a favourite with an amazing, dog friendly cafe. We would definitely return. Wood Family
This cottage provided us with a lovely stay for a week’s break. It is comfortable and well equipped. Comfy beds, lovely hot tub, fab walks in the area and a well equipped kitchen. Fantastic view from the hot tub, out over the estuary. A thoughtful selection of goodies were left by the owners which was a lovely touch. A couple of minor niggles only: The curtains in the bedrooms did not block all the light, however this did not bother us in winter. Also one of the bedrooms has a moderately loud noise from a water tank and pump housed in the loft space adjacent to the room which is disturbing i...more
We have lost count of our visits to Number 8, DBC! We like to visit out of season and somehow we always seem to get good weather. We just love the view and sound of the sea from the balcony. The accommodation is warm and comfortable with all the essentials provided including wine and biscuits. The apartment is a short walk from the village centre - perfect for a pre breakfast stroll to the Beachcomber Cafe followed by a bracing walk on the beach. Thank you to Jenny for another lovely stay. See you next year!
We stayed at swallow cottage for a week over the Easter break. The weather wasn't the best but my 2 boy's aged 7 & 11 had plenty to do including dips in the indoor heated swimming pool and fun in the well equipped games room. The hosts we're brilliant and helpful but not intrusive just leaving us to enjoy the stay. They even put on a Easter egg hunt for all the kids staying with cakes and drinks for both children and adults, even the adults had suprise egg's in the hunt! Basically we had a brilliant stay and will almost definitely return for another great holiday.
Excellent property, idea for a large group. We were a large family looking to have a week celebrating a milestone birthday, the property was everything we were looking for, clean, well equipped, excellent location. We had a minor issue which was resolved extremely quickly. The kitchen area was perfect for family meals. The bedrooms were spacious. We will definitely return.
Perfect accommodation for a family of ten,. Lovely well maintained large garden Everything we could have needed was provided.
We found Coast View to be cozy, clean, well equipped and everything we were hoping it would be for our family get away. The house is finished to a high standard, the bedrooms all comfortable and clean, and the kitchen had all the utensils and equipment we needed during our break. The hot tub was a real bonus and was well maintained during our stay.
The accommodation was very well presented with every detail thought about to help our stay, we will be back !
We had another wonderful weekend away at The Piggery, this was our second visit. The facilities are great just what we need for all the family members, ie a ground floor bedroom with an ensuite wet room with hand rails etc and separate bedrooms and shower room upstairs. With such amazing weather being able to sit outside on the comfy garden chairs was an added bonus. Also the location is great in the countryside, but with Barnstaple quickly and easily accessible with plenty of choice of shops and supermarkets and then also having the beautiful Exmoor on your doorstep as well. We highly reco...more
Immaculate, spacious and comfortable cottage, in an idyllic location for exploring North Devon. Well nigh perfect.
Found the property comfortable, homely and very clean and warm. everything we needed was provided. It was unusual not to be able to get Any Radio reception inside the property, and more importantly No mobile signal indoors and around the property we had to climb the hill above or drive to nearby village. This was on EE and O2 networks. We feel it should have been pointed out when booking in case of emergency situation. It should be possible to get phone connections via the internet /wifi but my phones would not accept these. We had to contact the Caretaker twice firstly as one of the heaters...more
We had a lovely time at The Tallett. The kids really enjoyed the hot tub and games room and the cottage is cosy, very clean and well equipped. Very comfy beds. Thank you!
Luxurious family accommodation - big open living room / kitchen, with wood burner ( ample free wood) as well as excellent central heating. 2 huge double bedrooms with enormous windows overlooking the beach, both with excellent shower / bathrooms. Bedrooms on top floor small, in comparison, but ok. Deck with hot tub, already heated when we arrived, and outside seating overlooking beach. Clean gas BBQ available. Parking for 2 cars (sometimes competition from residents of adjoining properties. All in all, a super place. We immediately booked a week for next year!
Decided to book a stay as a friend large family stayed here last year and recommended highly. Lovely house with everything you need for a great stay. It was spotlessly clean and the bedrooms were large, light and airy with comfy mattresses and good quality bedding. The garden was well used by us all and is big enough for football and French cricket, a nice suntrap and we were also visited by deer! The Wi-Fi was fast enough for us to stream movies and the kids to use as well. It's a short drive to Saunton Sands which the kids and dog loved. We would also all highly recommend, we had a gre...more
Wow! What a view! The cottage has an amazing view from the lounge across to Appledore and is ideally located for exploring north Devon. The sofas are comfy to enjoy the view. The kitchen is well equipped to cook at home, but there is also the option of 3 pubs within close proximity. The shower is great for reviving after a day out. And we slept well too in the good size bedrooms. A lovely stay. Thank you!
Talland Croft is a beautiful property in a perfect location for exploring Crantock village & the surrounding areas. The village is idyllic with two of the best pubs in the area in the Old Albion & the Cornishman. Crantock beach is absolutely stunning and it is within walking distance of this property. Although in some rooms in the house, the decor & furniture is slightly outdated, this is a minor compromise in my opinion. Bedrooms are large & comfortable with plenty of space for the family of 10 + baby that we had. The garden is stunning! Overall great value, we would definitely recommend.
A lovely old manse (I presume) full of character, plenty of room to spread and chill, demon heating system and open fire kept us toasty. Amazing amount of wildlife in the garden and just up the path by the river ... All in very enjoyable
Sunnycliffe has fabulous views and it is in a great location. Money spent on the property could bring it up to a very good standard. Unfortunately there were a few things that caused unnecessary issues.
Firstly we had a lovely holiday, the location was perfect for us. The house whilst needing a bit of updating (old rusty microwave etc.) is overall okay, with good bathrooms/showers. We had a number of challenges with 7/8 adults staying, which may not be an issue for smaller groups. There is only a very small under counter fridge, which wasn’t working well, certainly not large enough to cater for a week or two for 8 if you plan BBQ/cooking. One of the eight beds is actually a ‘camp bed’ so for an adult was not practical and thus was squeaky. A number of pieces of garden furniture were ...more
Old world charm country cottage , good size rooms . Limited access to upstairs. Staircase steep not suitable for the elderly. Quiet location with good access for parking but only limited roadway to cottage. I.e only room for one car on roadway on lane.
Loved the holiday, getting it away from it all was fantastic. The view from every window is amazing.
Perfect location, lovely house and a great week. The cottage was the perfect base for all of our activities with 4 kids. (The Big Sheep/ Watermouth Castle/ Tintagel plus huge beaches; Saunton Sands/ Crowe Point/ Greysands Beach) It was clean, the beds were very comfortable and it usefully had 2 toilets. It was very well set up for the 2 families that made up the 6 of us. Local pubs and restaurants were very good too. The local deli was expensive but Aldi only 10 minutes away. Would definitely go back.
We stayed at Highbullen last year only to find a change of ownership and rebranding. The boys (10/12)loved it, as did the dog! Plenty to keep everyone entertained. Constructive comments: the bistro menu needs to be more like the old one in the cellar bar, soups, sandwiches, fish and chips, ( a look at The Exeter Inn menu fab) etc. There was nothing on the menu that appealed to me, and as the only eatery open at lunchtime we went elsewhere! The shop was very expensive and had little in the way of essentials. Otherwise the staff were very helpful and friendly, activities were unusual, accommod...more
The location was great but overall the cottage was a bit grubby. Floors under beds really dirty. Towels smelt, bedding was clean though. Attention to detail poor. Clock on wall not working. Only 3 decent sized mugs for 4 adults!? Sofa/chairs very uncomfortable. Walls scuffed. Think it needs deep clean and lick of paint.
Upper Instow Beach Cottage is the perfect place to stay. Fantastic view across the beach, very comfortable and well equipped apartment, they even set up a Christmas tree to make it feel very festive for us.
It’s a comfortable and well-equipped house with some wear and tear, especially some issues with moisture in the home. Overall would recommend.
A nice spacious holiday home, in a scenic quiet location, with friendly host. Was great to have 2 parking spaces, right next to the property and a small enclosed garden to let our dogs run around in and the welcome pack was a nice touch. The level of cleanliness was a bit disappointing, all floors and surfaces has been thoroughly cleaned, but the walls and ceilings were full of spiders webs and spiders. So we spent the first 2 hours of our stay cleaning. The 2 couches were extremely soft and the kitchen tap constantly dipped. Also there was no toilet paper, luckily we had brought some with u...more
We wanted a cottage that was cosy, warm dog-friendly and in a good location for a short break over New Year. From photos and description as well as existing feedback, Diana's Cottage seemed to fit the bill. However in our opinion it fell some way short of our expectations. Firstly, on approaching the cottage and searching for the parking, we passed a derelict stone building with open storage area piled full of rubbish, open to the elements. This was not only unsightly, but a hazard, given it was on a farm. Directly next to this was the 'parking' - a small tight stone barn barely big enough to...more
We stayed at Stag Lodge for my 50th. Had a great time. I've stayed here several times before and will do again.
