There's a gentle magic to Pollaughan that is hard to put into words but a brief scan of the guestbook proves it has cast its spell over many a visitor. No one seems to come just once and it seems everybody books their next trip the minute they checkout, which explains why the cottages are booked so far in advance. It's clear that owners, Valerie and Tim Penny, know very well that it takes more than a high chair and a travel cot to make a child-friendly holiday. Tim leads daily egg collecting and animal feeding rounds for junior guests, whilst Valerie cooks up a storm making delicious ‘room service’ meals to ensure your holiday really is a holiday.

Accommodation is in a choice of four award winning cottages that are as stylish as they are homely and well-equipped. All are scenically set around the lakes (safely fenced) and meadows of this peaceful coastal farmstead on the lovely Roseland Peninsula, home to some of Cornwall’s most beautiful beaches. The t

We actually stayed at Willow, but had a chance to tour the Fallow cottage. The cottages are beautiful and located in a beautiful farm a mile from Portscatho. Easy walking distance to great food. Both are well-designed and fully equipped for a self-catering unit. Anything you might need is provided, including hair dryer and flat iron. The beds are comfortable, the bedding cozy. Willow and Fallow are sparkling clean and well maintained. It is calm and peaceful with opportunities to mingle with farm animals and enjoy gorgeous Cornish sunsets. We were greeted warmly by Fleur on our arrival with a delicious Cornish tea. Our whole week at Pollaughan was relaxing, informative (our family lived at Pollaughn for over 150 years until 2001.) and just perfect. I am looking forward to staying with Fleur, Steve, and their lovely boys again!

We had a great time. Location excellent for Portscatho beach and visiting other beaches on roseland. Animal feeding was fun too!

The location, farm facilities and atmosphere at Pollaughan is fantastic. We have a 2 year old and she loved the tennis court, play area and animals (all brilliantly kept). The views from Fallow are amazing and the kitchen is well fitted with everything you would need. The house needs to be redecorated, starting to look a little worn, especially downstairs. We were surprised not to get a welcome visit from the owners to check everything was ok, and when we did query how a couple of appliances worked we got an unhelpful response. However, we met them across the course of the week and they were all friendly. If we were to return we would rent Meadows or Willows cottages, more modern. Overall we had a lovely time with amazing weather and really enjoyed our stay at Pollaughan.

A wonderful Cornish experience!

I stayed in Fallows Cottage in October with my partner and our dog. The cottage was very clean and well equipped as well as being fabulously cosy. We found Pallaughan a great location for rediscovering childhood Cornish haunts. Steven and Fleur were great hosts and provided delicious home-made treats, including the most delicious coconut scones. There was even doggie treats for our four legged companion. We loved the quiet location which was within walking distance of a beautiful beech. We were very pleased to find Cornwall was so dog friendly and we were welcome in shops and restaurants. We loved our stay and plan to return, next time with more of our family!
