Ruan Dinas is the perfect location to escape the mayhem of everyday life and indulge in casual luxury and serene estuary views. There is the added bonus of a drying mooring, which you can book at no extra cost, and a slipway at Roundwood Quay 10m from the garden where you can launch your boat. There are few better spots to have a fantastic family holiday or romantic getaway.

After booking for a short stay last minute we were delighted to find that ruan dinas was available and what a find- such a magical spot,so quiet and peaceful with views to die for. The bungalow was warm and comfortable, lovely for relaxing in after dark and the welcome box of fudge and apple juice was much appreciated .The lovely woodland walks just outside the gate encouraged you to walk around the next corner just to see another beautiful aspect of the river.Everything was perfect- we will certainly be back again .

A slice of heaven

When we rounded the final corner of the rather bumpy lane to find the creek at high tide lazily gliding by, a shimmering green that has to be seen to be believed, we thought we'd taken a wrong turn. Can it really be here? Is Cornwall really still this unspoilt? But when we entered the cottage itself, we were absolutely knocked out by our welcome: the warmth from the Aga (Heritage Stove) embraced us and waiting on the table were locally-made scones, jam, cream (in the fridge), apple juice, coffee and fudge. For two ravenous travellers this was so appreciated! After refreshment we began to explore and found the house tastefully furbished: comfy sofas, big, luxurious beds, two bathrooms and space to breathe... Fabulous as the cottage is though, it is the location that is just stunning. Right beside a branch of the River Fal (which can be seen from the house and gardens) there are fabulous woodland walks to explore; there's a little jetty where we launched our kayak, and a public quay where people come to fish and canoe and although there is a public right of way in front of the cottage, the road to the quay is long enough and pot-holed enough to keep all but the hardiest at bay, so it's never really busy! Our time at Ruan Dinas went too fast and we loved every moment. We have stayed in very many holiday cottages, Airb&bs and hotels in Cornwall, but this has to be amongst the finest of places there is. I have left a bit of my heart there, so I'll definitely be back!
