We had a lovely time over the New Year with our family. The accommodation was excellent and well equipped. We would have no hesitation in recommending Melfort Village to anyone thinking of booking a stay there.
It was a very well run resort. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in Garden cottage which was warm and comfortable and well equipped,so avery pleasant stay.
I was ,greatly impressed by the charm and peace of the location and the obvious thought that has gone into the furnishing and equipping of the accommodation. The weather was perfect, but if we're otherwise there were plenty of indoor activities to entertain all ages. All the members of staff were welcoming and dedicated to making our stay memorable. I look forward to giving them an opportunity to welcome me again, soon! Kind regards, George Paterson
All great at the cottage and we enjoyed our stay as usual. We would like to suggest the following relatively low cost maintenance tasks to be addressed: 1. The floor boards upstairs in lounge and bedroom are very squeaky at several points. This really disturbs persons sleeping in the 2 bedrooms below. Remedy should be relatively simple as was done in Haybarn cottage several years ago. 2. The shower door in downstairs bathroom needs attention 3. A good garlic press and a salad spinner would be welcome additions to the great kitchen.
Stayed for 2 nights of peace and quiet in this well equipped cottage in beautiful surroundings. We didn't use the facilities on site but will hopefully be back in the summer months.
My wife and I found the cottage warm, clean, well equipped and well provided with documentation. The view over the grounds is most attractive. A minor criticism we would draw to your attention is the approach by car to the rear of the cottage. This is rather steep and the space for turning restricted. Pre-warning about this and advice on use of the use of the side track to reverse onto would be helpful.
We enjoyed 2 full days staying at Melfort Village and on the whole, we really enjoyed our stay. The house was beautiful, clean and comfortable and in a beautiful location. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and took every effort to make us feel welcome. Our children had the wonderful opportunity to get swimming lessons which were brilliant and reasonably priced, Olwynn could not have been nicer or better for our children. Unfortunately at the time we were there, the pool was cold as there was a problem with the heating and the jacuzzi was only usable on our last day. The play r...more
Stayed in Farm Cottage 3. Very spacious well equipped cottage. Top quality fixtures and fittings. Loved the open fire. Kindling, coal and logs readily available to buy at reception. All staff we encountered were so friendly and helpful. Lovely meal at Shower of Herring restaurant on site. Great music night with local musicians again in the Shower of Herring . We loved our holiday in Melfort Village. A peaceful and beautiful setting. Home with batteries recharged! Hope it won’t be too long till we return!
Its a great place to get away and live with nature for a few days,... very comfortable, clean and a good drive...
Had a wonderful week in melfort village location was great beautiful cottage with log burning stove perfect for winter evenings and great facilities on site would definitely return !!
Wow what a great place, on checking in (hassle free) we opened the door and from kitchen to bedroom everywhere was clean. We had just come from London staying in a 5 star hotel and I can say Melfort village was cleaner. It also felt that they wanted dogs there with a dog box from bowls to biscuits and TOY great magic touch. The dog field is amazing been able to let a beagle off in a secure field is a bonus to us. They are lovely walks and only 20 minutes away from Oban its in a great location too. The games room was good for the kids and will return as soon as we can.
I booked at Melfort to have a week with my Dad. He has just finished cancer treatment and has a few weeks to wait for results. This break was to help take his mind off things and put my mind at rest that he was coping. The communication with the Staff before and during our stay was great. WG2 is in great condition and very clean upon arrival. We used the pool, sauna and spa pool 6 days out of 7 a great way to relax. I had brought 1 of my dogs along and it was a great suprise to have a welcome pack with treats and a toy included, another thoughtful touch. Cant wait to return with my wife and ou...more
Melfort Village is a wonderful resort. From our viewpoint it is both disabled and dog friendly - even to providing an arrival pack for our dog. The staff at Melfort couldn't be more helpful and I particularly appreciated their support when we had to cut our holiday short on the Wednesday because our daughter was taken into hospital back in Leeds. Walled Garden 9 had everything you could possibly ask for and all of very good quality and in more than adequate numbers. The cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived, which was nice after an 8 hour drive. The pool area, yet again, was e...more
Excellent holiday beautiful scenery lovely staff and facilities.comfortable accomodation and very well kept grounds
First visit to Melfort Village and hopefully not our last! We stayed in the Walled Garden Complex and enjoyed comfortable and cosy accommodation with a great view of the loch. Great little restaurant on site. ...freshly prepared and reasonable food served by owner Kat who was a pleasure to deal with. The swimming pool was lovely and warm and had it to ourselves almost everyday... luxury! Staff were extremely helpful and friendly.... great advertisment for Scotland. Thoroughly enjoyed our week there.
Again another peaceful quiet and relaxing Xmas break. Great Thursday night Live music with the “locals”
Resort is wonderfully relaxing , perfect for a chill out . Scenery is breathtaking. Front desk are warm kind nothing is too much trouble. Can’t wait to return
My family and I (4 adults + 4 children) stayed here for 4 days at the end of November. All the rooms in the house are a good size. The kitchen & lounge are lovely and bright with fantastic views. The "village" (Melfort village) is a short walk from the house. I have stayed in a few different houses within the village and it was a nice change to be slightly outside the village - much more private. Make sure to take a torch with you as it's pitch black in the dark, you won't be able to see a thing! Make sure to check the pool is open before you walk up as it was closed unexpectedly one day we we...more
What an excellent location and great facilities for the grandchildren especially if the weather wasn’t so good
accomodation great log burner a must at this time of year but adds to the ambiance facilities good staff helpful will return again maybe summer and winter
The only real problem lay in the fact the hot water system is very poor with practically no hot water at bath time despite use of the booster system. It needs power to heat the water every afternoon for say three hours. It would be better if wood burners replace the open fires as heat not great.
A relaxing and very enjoyable stay at Melfort. Lucky with the weather and the scenery was spectacular.
Another quiet relaxing break in a beautiful area of Scotland, Mefort village development is a wonderfully run and well kept little village, Staff are extremely efficient and helpful and went out their way to help us any time we needed them.
the accomadation was perfect for our pre xmas get away, you will need a car but the scernery round about was beautiful. Highly recomend for a taste of the west coast of scotland
Stayed for five nights over the New Year period. Very comfortable apartment. Shower of Herring restaurant very good and very welcoming.
Thanks so much for a wonderful stay in a beautiful location. Cottage was lovely easy to find, we will be back.
From start to finish, we couldn’t fault our stay at Melfort Village. Receptionist very welcoming and helpful. Cottage was ideal for us with two young sons and our new 5 month old puppy. The enclosed garden was perfect for the dog. Cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Grounds and facilities are kept very well and bonus of pool tables etc all free. Very quiet and peaceful but plenty for our two boys to do. Extremely dog friendly, so perfect place for a few days away with your family/pets. Will definitely recommend and hope to return
The shoal of herring really is very poor now. That’s plenty of characters submitted. No wonder the restaurant is so empty.
Charging £10 a day for electricity is a bit cheeky but over all a lovely place to get away from it all and relax. Was nice and clean and nice loacation. The shower definitely needs upgrading however. We also had a very relaxing massage on site.it was superb. Overall i would recomend melfort to others.
As always Melfort Village proved a big hit again. Stayed in a different cottage as there was more of us and also took over another cottage for two nights. Scattered my husbands ashes and planted a tree/bench in his memory. Everything was perfect.. The company the views the family Scottish music and even the weather. Melfort Club was brilliant very helpful lovely and kind to all of us throuout our stay. Thankyou everyone
This resort was very comfortable and the staff very helpful and pleasant The food outlet onsite reasonably pric d which is good if you have children.A lovely location and complete peace.
Had a very relaxing time at Melfort Village. Beautiful views, comfortable and well equipped accommodation, log burning stove and lovely staff. I especially liked the fact my dog was also welcomed. Towel, treats, toy, bowls and throws for him. What a great idea. Hope to return soon for another stay.
