We were met with a lovely warm welcome. Cottage was perfect and comfortable with everything we needed. Weather could have been better. But our four legged friend loved every minute of his holidays. As did we. Liked it so much stayed for another week.
Lovely cottage, in wonderful surroundings. Had a lovely short break with plenty to see and do a short drive away. Wish we had stayed for another night or two.
I was ,greatly impressed by the charm and peace of the location and the obvious thought that has gone into the furnishing and equipping of the accommodation. The weather was perfect, but if we're otherwise there were plenty of indoor activities to entertain all ages. All the members of staff were welcoming and dedicated to making our stay memorable. I look forward to giving them an opportunity to welcome me again, soon! Kind regards, George Paterson
All great at the cottage and we enjoyed our stay as usual. We would like to suggest the following relatively low cost maintenance tasks to be addressed: 1. The floor boards upstairs in lounge and bedroom are very squeaky at several points. This really disturbs persons sleeping in the 2 bedrooms below. Remedy should be relatively simple as was done in Haybarn cottage several years ago. 2. The shower door in downstairs bathroom needs attention 3. A good garlic press and a salad spinner would be welcome additions to the great kitchen.
Enjoyed our stay restaurant very good we felt that paying £9.25 for 3 days electricity expensive we did not know that this would be an extra charge.
Very dog friendly; a special large fenced field for owners to play with their dogs. Comfy beds. Well equipped house. Staff very helpful & friendly. Worth going to morning meeting as masses of information about the area. Beautiful drive around bay to main road. Setting scenic. Only gripe was house needed more wet weather mats inside front door as lots of leaves and fresh grass cuttings treading through house. I put one of my dog towels down to protect carpet. Couldnt use back door as stuck but we should have informed reception as they would have arranged for it to be fixed immediately. Didnt e...more
A great week or the family. a lot to do on site and great walks. Cycling immediately outside the village was limited and not suitable for kids. Lots of good extra activities, we enjoyed kayaking, boat trip to corryvreckan and the horse riding. The staff at the village were superb.
The cottage was perfect, light and airy and at the same time cosy. We had friends for supper on two nights and sat down 8 people very comfortably, it was a well equipped kitchen and I was able to cook very easily. It was clean and tidy when we arrived, and we were very comfortable there.
A beautiful cozy family accommodation. One can drown into the beauty of nature, exciting walking trails..
Amazing as always. Great facilities fatastic scenery and very comfortable as always. Have come for over 30 years and so look forward to our trips.
My wife and I stayed in the village (in the Walled Garden for a week followed by a cottage for the following week) back in 2002 and have tried to get back there several times. This time was successful and reminded us why we wanted to return. The doggy pamper pack is an especially nice touch and the cheap fishing in their own loch is icing on the cake. The staff are very friendly and helpful and even though we had weather which was more like what we would expect in Corfu, we had a great time (though the heat curtailed long walks with the dogs).
Despite typical January weather we spent a lovely week at Melfort Village with friends. Our unit was located close to the shore of the loch with beautiful views over the loch. All staff at the resort were friendly and welcoming but I would make special mention of Olwyn from Customer Services. She provided excellent information about the surrounding area and places of interest and if you attend the musical evening and the gin tasting event you will find that she is very talented. We had an enjoyable dining experience in the Shower of Herring. The unit is well equipped and very comfortable. I ha...more
Lovely welcome at Office, then a very comprehensive welcome meeting on Sunday by Olwen. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Mews, tried hard to find something missing... but failed! Everything catered for and spotlessly clean... Thank you..
Melfort has a unique charm. The walled garden has units with terraces, all except this one, which is an upstairs flat with rear access from the parking area. That was a disappointment, and something not made clear by DAE when it was offered. It has the best view of the loch, though, which partly makes up for it. Quality comfy beds, and lovely bathrooms. Well equipped - you would never have to run out of essentials like loo rolls or dishwasher stuff [some resorts are very stingy on this]. No books or games though. Only two small criticisms: the kitchen/living room has no cooker hood or extra...more
We have visited Melfort Village many times over 25 years. It is is still a stunning location but standards have fallen in cottages - not as pristine as it used to be which is probably partly due to it being a very dog friendly place.
I can only decsribe Melfort village as utterly delightful. I have never known such helpfull staff and the standard of cleanliness as excellent. Our lodge was well equipped with high quality products and the beds and bedding first class. The area has so much to offer we only just scratched the surface, but we packed loads in during our stay. We have been before and have every intention of coming back. In brief, we saw otters in the loch, beavers - yes beavers on a wildlife project nearby and a couple of red squirrels. This has ignited our passion for wildlife watching and the area will no...more
Lovely accommodation in beautiful surroundings. Very well equipped with all mod cons provided. Dog friendly with dog welcome box supplying dog bowls, toy and treats even poop bags ! Also perfect place for families. Not great if you want to sit out in peace and quiet on patio as depending on when you visit eg school holiday period can have lots of kids running around . Not usually a problem but due to close proximity of units in walled garden 2 can be a bit loud particularly if have swing ball game provided by parents ! Perhaps management should not allow ball games in communal garden area o...more
Another fantastic week at Melfort. Enjoyed kayaking on the loch, fishing and crabbing. Super time in swimming pool and great trips out and about. Hope to return next year
High standards maintained all round, alongside friendly, helpful staff make this resort perfect. High quality accommodation set in wonderful surroundings. Music nights are a real plus as is the Shower or Herring restaurant.
As an owner at Melfort already this week confirmed how good Melfort Village is. A must visit for the discerning traveller. Very high quality accommodation and excellent customer service.
Hot water pressure in shower very weak. We were surprised that we had to pay an additional amount for the wood and kindling for the fireplace.
Walled Garden cottages 1& 8 were in my name but friends of mine were in no 1. We both filled questionnaires in and gave them to Reception when we left.We all enjoyed the week and look forward to another stay there. The only criticism was that we were unable to use The Shower of Herring as it wasn't open until our last night. Jean Swain
Though only a week at the site we found it very convenient to visit local areas, North, South East and West. (Oban, Campbelltown, Inverary and Crinan) All worth a visit and have there own attractions. The scenery in Argyll is amazing. The planning of each day was made easy by the information available at Melfort and the excellent introductory talk, which provided plenty of insights and local knowledge of the whole area. The accommodation was very comfortable, clean and well appointed. There are plenty of good places to eat, that will accept two dogs. We would especially recommend ...more
We spent a lovely week in a lovely location. The holiday was so relaxing, just what we needed. The accommodation was spot on.
Very relaxing stay. Elderly Mother with me and she enjoyed the break. Many activities if you had wished. Staff absolutely lovely.
We felt very comfort and at home an Alison was very helpful and our neighborhood gave us tips were to go to and to have dinner, it was very familiar and the landscape very pretty. We made lots of tours and will surely return Svenia Hawi and the kids
Our family have just returned from a wonderful week at Melfort Village. Weather was amazing and the Melfort Village was just as good. Relaxing and so much to see and do. Onsite facilities were excellent. Staff were always pleasant and helpful. Definitely recommend eating at The Shower of Herring the restaurant onsite, Kat and her team were warm and welcoming and food delicious. Will definitely be back.
We had a beautiful cottage containing every possible piece of equipment one might need, from comfortable furniture to logs, crockery, pots and pans, fridge, freezer, dishwasher etc. The lounge had a lovely picture window looking out on the green paddock and trees. Bedrooms were spacious, one with large double bed, and two with twin beds. Plenty of wardrobe space. Wonderful walk-in power shower en suite for the double room, and shared bath with shower for the twin rooms. Car was parked at the front door, which was close to reception, and the back door opened onto a large lawn with two picnic t...more
Excellent place for families and exploring beautiful Argyll Limited local shopping but Oban less than 30 min away
This resort was very comfortable and the staff very helpful and pleasant The food outlet onsite reasonably pric d which is good if you have children.A lovely location and complete peace.
We had a great stay at Melfort Village. Our cottage was cosy and comfortable and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful.
On our tour of the highlands this year, our family of four stayed a week at Melfort Village to explore the countryside around Oban. This was our favourite week, because of the incredibly beautiful environment, and because of the quality of Melfort Village. Clean, spacious, quiet, good facilities, and great location. We look forward to a return visit.
