We had a very comfortable and cosy few days in lower cooperage cottage. The staff were so welcoming and helpful. A lovely restful break before the rush of Christmas.
Would have all been all excellent if the autumn leaves and mud had been swept away from the front door, to prevent them being trailed in and onto carpet during unloading,
Very nice stay, excellent location. Was a shame about the weather but this did not mark down the amazing scenery. Bliss having no phone signal but wi-fi worked well so not completely cut off. Thank you very much!
Melfort Cottage was small but perfectly formed! It has everything you want for a short stay and more than you need. The log burner was a real bonus and made our evenings a pleasure. There is little or no mobile signal unless you are on O2 or Vodafone and the wiFi is a bit slow but free so can't complain. Oddly, there is no telephone in any of the cottages so you can't phone the office or make a call on a landline. You have to physically go to the office which wasn't bad for us but a little inconvenient for those in cottages farther away at the Pier or in the Walled Garden. The bed is very ...more
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay but wish it had been for longer! Facilities even better than described as there was a walk in shower downstairs. Exactly what we required. Perhaps updated information about this put on website. Weather fantastic and we were able to take advantage of the spectacular countryside and views! Swimming pool and changing area spotlessly clean
The fifth time we have stayed at Melfort Village, but the first time in Quarry Cottage. It is the highest property, and the outlook is excellent. Maintenance of the cottage, and of the whole complex, is of the highest order. Despite a very poor weather forecast, our week was not spoiled by rain. There was a little, but not enough to stop us from exploring the area, and our day on Luing was exceptionally bright. All members of staff we encountered were very helpful and anxious to please. We ate in the Shower of Herring on our first night and the quality of the food was superb. We did n...more
We had an excellent holiday at Melfort Village. The surrounding area is very picturesque with views of the loch. We found the cottage extremely well equipped, and clean . A bonus was finding a games room right next door which my grandchildren made good use of in the evening. We would certainly go there again.
Very homely cottage and suits us very well. Bed linen was a bit tired and when I stripped the bed the mattresss cover was a double on a king size bed so much too small. Unfortunately we were plagued with wasps in the cottage. This resulted in getting rid of around a dozen every time we went out. We could not see how they were getting in. We did mention this to the maintenance man but he was unable to locate the source. Disappointed the restaurant closed after the Monday but we coped.
We had an excellent time, not really wanting to leave. Every member of the staff was extremely helpful but also unobtrusive. Our cottage was probably the smallest two bedroom unit and with visitors for a couple of days we struggled a little with having only one bathroom. However, this did not spoil anything because there was so much to do in the area and the weather was excellent on the whole. The scenery is terrific. We used the swimming pool and the Shoal of Herring - fish and chips and home made tartar sauce the best consistent meal at a good price. The local walking guide wa...more
Loch Melfort village lived up to all our expectations. Pity that the weather was inclement so we couldn't take full advantage of the surrounding countryside..
Melfort Village is simply a wonderful place for a family holiday. The range of accommodation is excellent, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly, and the location is stunning. I cannot recommend Melfort Village highly enough!
kids loved being right beside the loch, playing in garden, games room & den building. (dad enjoyed the open water swimming & off road running) not too many midges. great service from Olwen @ reception (including brilliant kids swimming lessons). lots of other excellent things too numerous to mention. many thanks.
The staff at Melfort were extremely welcoming and informative. The facilities were good. Great having The Shower of Herring on the doorstep and we ate there a couple of times. Kat made us very welcome.
This has been one of the best holidays we have spent at Melfort, and we have been coming for 20 years or so. Nothing was too much trouble to the Staff, the Cottage was very comfortable and clean and we had a mid week clean extra and they did a magnificent job. So much so that we have just posted a thank you card to them. They have improved in leaps and bounds, The internet is poor there, but considering where they are located it is a miracle it works at all.! The Shower of Herring was shut on arrival on the Saturday, due to illness, which may have been a problem to some guests expectin...more
It’s not often that our grown up, far flung daughters and Dad get together these days. So where better to rendezvous than the familiar surroundings of Melfort Village. Invigorating walks on the hill & beaches, wonderful food and cozy movie evenings with a dram in front of the log fire, perfect!
This was our third exchange into Melfort Village in the space of the last 12 months and we are booked to return in 2018. An excellent resort with friendly, responsive staff and superb facilities including a very good on-site restaurant. And when you add in the magnificent west coast scenery and the fact that Melfort is a dog-friendly resort this represents our idea of a perfect place to spend a holiday.
Excellent place to have a family holiday with pets .Could not fault it. Plenty to do and see. Staff very friendly and provide an excellent service to guests.
Been coming to Melfort for over 20 years Children are now older and the quiet of Melfort not so much their thing now. We enjoyed our four nights at the Walled Garden and my husband and I will continue to come back.
This part of Argyll is a joy to visit The weather was frosty and clear The welcome was warm and friendly. All the staff gave excellent service.
We would like to come again! it is a very silent and calm place in a very fine area of Scotland. The landscape is fascinating.
Scenery, as always, spectacular. Staff so friendly and Musical night a treat. Found the bed a it too solid for me, but that's a personal point of view. A cheap 3 day break, just what was needed.
We spent an amazing week in Melfort Village with our son and his wife, plus 2 small children. Weather was mixed but that did not matter as we had the option of the indoor playroom and the swimming pool on the couple of poor days; and lovely walks round the grounds, playing on the swings and kicking a ball in the big field on good days. The staff really "make" Melfort, as they are so friendly and helpful, with lots of ideas of places to visit and things to do. The atmosphere in this pretty little "village" is so nice, with all the guests chatting to each other when they meet. I highly recomm...more
Our 50th week here, so goes to show just how wonderful this place is. Great range of cottages to suit all needs, great for families, a safe haven for all
We were lucky with the weather which certainly helped give a good impression but all our dealings with the staff were excellent with all being very approachable, friendly and efficient. The lodge itself benefitted from being slightly raised and (very slightly) remote from the main resort as it had very good views of the Loch. The on site bar/restaurant closed just after we arrived so we only made one visit but found the food good and a lively atmosphere as it was Music Night. The welcome meeting was well worth attending as we were given some excellent suggestions of places to go that we may ot...more
This cottage provides great comfort in this idyllic setting. No problem chilling out here. Paradise.
This was a last minute holiday through D A E. and we hoped it would be just O K at this time of year..... we neednt have worried.... from the time we booked in till checking out we were treated to a wonderfull and very comfortable break...we were allocated COACHMANS EAST a very comfortable 2 bedroom upper lodge with superb views.. the log burner was a lovely extra as the weather was a bit chilly but the lodge was very cosy...we have stayed in many apartments in europe and this country and i can honestly say that MELFORT VILLAGE is the most comfortable stay my wife and i have ever had..well...more
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Warm and friendly atmosphere with staff always on hand to help. Very very informative introduction talk about the area. We would like to see prompts to open back windows for ventilation and info for recycling. Extremely well equipped and comfortable units Lovely area with much to explore. Will be back we hope.
Our stay was made all the more enjoyable by friendly staff at reception and at the pool. The Monday night music was a bonus.
Lovely lodge in a beautiful setting. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Food in the Shower of Herring was excellent and very good value for money.
Staff, helpful, efficient and accessible. Location superb with many places to visit and many good places to eat, with most of them being "Dog Friendly". Grounds attractive and well maintained despite significant amount of rain. The cottage is well equipped with good quality cutlery and crockery but a few plastic storage boxes would be useful. When a problem was experienced, it was instantly addressed by a very helpful maintenance person and the failed item, a heated towel rail, replaced. The only criticism is the occupancy time. 5.00 pm is unacceptable as a whole day is lost. 2.00 wou...more
We had a very enjoyable stay at Melfort Village. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. The only 2 slightly negative points were: on arrival at reception, the welcome was rather offhand; and the water pressure in the main shower was very low.
Quaint but modern facility in a rural area. Great staff and wonderful onsite restaurant with great entertainment. Beautiful location. Close to several tourist attractions.
