Great hosts with lovely welcome pack, the accommodation was spotless and cosy and the peaceful surroundings made this the perfect spot. Easy walk via footpaths and blue bell woods from rock house mews to the village and fab location for walks and the coast, highly recommend
We were warmly welcomed and everything was just right. There were brownies, milk from the farm and all the basics necessary to set up our temporary home in perfect comfort. My husband is not very mobile, but he was able to come and go with ease. There were just two of us, so a bathroom each, really comfortable bed and even small torches to see our way around in the night. The weather was very cold, but we were cosily warm by the fire, with the dogs. We will book again when we come to Sussex next year. thank you Janice and Alan for your thoughtful care and letting us stay in your fascinati...more
We picked Dairy Cottage in Burley for location and advertised info .on website. We found the cottage to be very clean and well looked after. The owners were very welcoming and happy to give any help we needed about the area.
A delightful stay in the Old Town of Hastings. The accommodation is first class and in a lovely location with delightful views from every window; we could have been in the Forest of Dean. The Old Town is vibrant with a host of fascinating small shops and masses of places to eat and drink. We loved it. Elisabeth and Bernard.
The cottage we stayed in was just as it was advertised, it was very well equiped, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The hosts were very attentive with just the right level of contact while we were staying there, the location is very good, just a few minuets from the shops and beaches, The cream tea on arrival is a very nice touch. If we travel in that area again we would definitely stay there again.
The property was perfect! The owners wanted you to feel at home and we certainly did. The property was immaculate and everything was there that you needed, so much so we wished we could buy it! It was also in a fantastic location, walking distance from several pubs and cafes, only a 20 minute drive to the centre of Chichester and we spent a fantastic day at Arundel Castle and Gardens which we would highly recommend a visit to. We would definitely recommend this property and the area.
The owner was very pleasant and helpful, we found the accommodation very comfortable and had everything we needed and also exceptionally clean. It is in a good location and there are plenty of Places of Interest nearby to visit.
We had a wonderful stay at the Cow Hide for New Year Eve. It was the perfect peaceful getaway we were expecting. The area was lovely and worth exploring, with some trails easy accessible from the cottage. The cottage itself was impeccable and nicely decorated, with all the amenities you would need. Underfloor heating was really nice, keeping our feet warm. The views from the cottage leave you in awe and feeling blissful. Our host, Caroline was great, she looked after us and was very kind, made sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely come again in the summer as we didn't get to see t...more
A very well equipped and maintained property. Conveniently situated near the restaurants and shops of Rye. An idea base for a short family holiday.
The Reading Rooms was perfect for us to stay in, clean, warm, comfortable and situated in a lovely village. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
A superb property in a stunning location at the foot of the Beacon. Ideal for walking the downs. Chris and Eileen were both lovely - they left us to ourselves but were there when needed.
Jubilee House is situated in a cul-de-sac, a short walk away from the centre of Chichester. The property was exceptionally clean, beautifully presented and was very comfortable. We stayed in a cold week in December but were warm and cosy in the house. The owners live next door and called around shortly after we arrived to welcome us and made it known that if we needed anything we were welcome to call on them. The house was really well equipped with everything we needed, including many DVDs, games and books. There was a large table and chairs outside which I could imagine would be very nic...more
We had four of our engineer stay at this cottage and got great reviews on how nice it was and how welcome they were made to feel. Defiantly recommend staying at this cottage.
This cottage was presented to a high standard and made for a very enjoyable and comfortable stay with our family over Christmas.
Was lovely relaxing quiet property set in a great location with easy access to the beautiful New forest, and also close to the lovely town of Lymington. Great pub(East End Arms) nearby and very friendly owners who just let you just enjoy their lovely cottage. Will be back.
A very quiet hidden house, with some enchantment in the atmosphere and wonderful walks from the door.
Had a lovely short break at Honeysuckle Cottage, everything needed was provided plus several other very thoughtful extras. Beautiful views and lovely location ideal for visiting the surrounding countryside and also for walks into Petworth and the park. Would certainly book again.
The Potting Shed is located in an enchanting hamlet in West Sussex (car is essential), surrounded by countryside, streams, fishing lakes and villages (excellent walks). The owners, who live in the main house on site, are all that is friendly and helpful. We liked the cottage, which has a very well equipped kitchen and cosy living area upstairs and two small bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs. Great central heating (well used during an October half term), good wifi. My one quibble was that the bedrooms were a bit damp (lots of rain the week before). All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would rec...more
The property, location, owners, village, and hospitality were excellent. We will definitely be back!
....and well equipped. We had some trouble with the TV but the owner helped us out as soon as we asked. The oven is also pretty hi-tech, but we won! If we had to quibble about anything it would be to say that some climbing plants up the fence between the cottage and the main house would make that outlook more attractive. Well situated for walking and visiting places of interest.
This was our second visit to Shona's as we loved the location, the cleanliness of the property & the helpfulness of the owner, Shona. A most enjoyable 2 weeks.
Very stylish house, great interior, design bathrooms, very clean and in a superb location right across the Arundel castle site.
A very well equiped apartment which was comfortable and clean. Well positioned for seafront and shops. A wide range of resteraunts to suit all tastes within easy walking distance. Parking was ok but could be a little aukward at busy times like the airshow. A very considerate welcome pack on arrival along with a very useful personal greeting. Overall a great stay in an apartment that I would recommend.
An excellent second stay and home from home. Good base from which to explore Rye on foot and Sussex/Kent border around Romney Marsh.
Fantastic little place for two people to stay! The cottage is modern and well-equipped and everything is right outside your door. The owners were wonderful! We'll be back for sure!
Brooke's Cottage at Jevington is in an ideal location for walks heading in all directions - especially as the South Downs Way is a few steps from the door. The views from the accommodation are also spectacular across the open countryside. Just horses, birds and a few rabbits to interrupt the scene! Our week stay was also improved by daily blue skies and sunshine. Although we did have a rainy start to one day and headed to the hills for the afternoon. A brilliant holiday indeed.
Mountsfield Lodge is a very well presented cottage, warm clean and with everything provided. There are some very interesting books and pamphlets on local history and it's a three minute walk into town, perfect.
This is a lovely cottage in beautiful location. The property is well laid out, well maintained and run by really nice people.
Swan Cottage was the best self-catering property I have experienced. It was beautifully furnished and decorated and ideally situated overlooking the River Arun, just a short walk from the centre of Arundel. Two car spaces meant we didn't have to try to park in the narrow streets of the town. The owner welcomed us warmly and explained everything we needed to know. She had also provided basic essentials eg bread, milk, butter, etc (much appreciated after our long journey).
The Stables is lovely spacious accommodation which is beautifully furnished and well planned. It was spotlessly clean on our arrival. We would not hesitate to recommend it and certainly hope to return.
We loved this little cottage. The kitchen and seating area on the ground floor were very well equipped and it was lovely to be able to open the french doors onto the sheltered outside seating area. Upstairs the bed was very comfy. The upstairs sitting room was a bonus for some quiet web browsing. Lots of public footpaths literally from the door take you around fields, along streams and through woods. The lane from the road to the cottage seems longer than you expect and is a little narrow and needs care but this just adds to the charm. All the surrounding villages are worth exploring and ...more
Very comfortable home. Quiet and peaceful area whilst being an ideal base to explore the surrounding countryside, also close enough to the coast to enjoy a visit.
We had a fantastic time here at Rosemary Cottage. Great cottage lovely and clean with everything we needed and more. Fantastic walks on your doorstep and great base for nearby coastal towns. We are planning to return again next year.
We had a lovely few days in this well appointed cottage in a quiet location. Well situated for walking.
Had a lovely stay in the cottage, nice touches from the owners, including bread, eggs, butter and wine and fresh flowers. Would definitely stay again, and hopefully it won't rain as much.
Lychgate Cottage is very well equipped and is within a short walking distance of Henfield and all it's amenities. The owners were welcoming and helpful and also kindly provided a very generous welcome pack. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Great place to base out of for mid Sussex. Easy access to A23 and Brighton. Well equipped and modern cottage. Good communication with owners.
This house is a relaxing comfortable place to stay. My daughter loved the mezzanine bedroom. The kitchen is well equipped, with a lovely welcome basket with local produce. A very warm welcome from the owners, who made sure we had everything we needed. Great location for Lewes, as well as many other local attractions. We would happily return.
The house was very good for 6 people, unfortunately the weather was bad so could not use the pool. It is very near the shops and centre of Petworth an excellent location for an area with masses to do and see. This was our second visit we like it a lot. Owners very helpful and welcoming.
Very modern and spacious cottage with a warm welcome in an wondervul environment and only a few minutes to the coast.
On arriving I was shocked, I knew the house would be beautiful but it was far beyond my expectations! We had fabulous weather so spent alot of time in the charming pool. The gardens are gorgeous with speaking hills for miles and the house interia is full of amazing art. The perfect house for a large group with lovely kitchen and lots of compfy nooks to relax in. Could not have enjoyed our stay more, would love to come back! X
Ideal location and property to get away from everything with family and pets. Just chill out or a short drive away (or long walk) something for everyone to do. Local shops were great for food and within easy walking distance. Nobody wanted to leave!
The cottage is lovely - just what we wanted, quaint and cottagy! It is very well equipped and everything is of high quality. Marian had put up Christmas decorations which were wonderful. We were also left welcome gifts and lots of supplies. The cottage is very near the town centre and in easy reach of everything. We will definitely be going back if we want somewhere not too far from home.
We had a lovely week, the cottage was lovely, the kitchen well fitted and the welcome pack very well received. Hilary was very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday
The cottage was lovely, big enough for us and our three children. It was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was really well stocked, all the home comforts you need on a self catering holiday. It was a real home away from home, we had a brilliant time and hopefully will be back next year!
Tarante had everything we want from short-break self-catering accommodation; it was clean and comfy, quiet and cosy. Perhaps more importantly it was within easy walking distance of the town centre with its great bars and restaurants, and had parking. The owner was friendly and helpful (the milk was a nice touch, so we could have a much-needed cup of tea on arrival) and every detail seemed to have been thought of in the accommodation. The garden was available to us and it was nice to have an early morning coffee in the sunshine on the decking. Highly recommended.
We had a nice welcome of the hosts. On everything is thought: Filled fridge, fresh bread, cookies, drinks, shower gel and shampoo... The place has all the comfort you can think about. Good and well equipped kitchen. Very comfortable bed with view over the terrace. A lot of information about East-Sussex is available. Good place to start walks along the footpaths in fields (with friendly sheep and donkeys) and woods. A good spot to explore the county, cities with nice antique shops, and the coastal area.
Everything is in good location, second time at tail end cottage will be back again. Dog friendly, pubs and restaurants all excellent.
This cottage was booked for my daughter and family from Australia. There was 5 of them in all and were comfortable all they needed. Owners very helpfully with letting us view in advance and explaining all about the cottage. Would reccomend.
This property is simply wonderful. Extremely spacious and very well presented and of high quality. The garden immediately around Little Barn is beautiful and very well kept and the view from the elevated terrace over the water meadows is breathtaking. Carol and Peter are great hosts, very friendly and knowledgeable without being intrusive. Loads to do in the surrounding area if you want an active holiday and a very comfortable cottage for relaxing in if you don't. Highly recommend Little Barn.
Yes this was our second stay this year at Croft Cottage. We were delighted with everything at this well equipped cottage
Quail Cottage is light and airy, well furnished and equipped. Everything you might need on the domestic front is provided so you really don't need to bring anything but some food with you. The bed and the big sofas are really comfortable. The situation is lovely and the hosts (Margaret and Dick) are most welcoming. It is an ideal base for exploring the coast, beautiful houses and gardens and for walking. Highly recommended.
We loved staying at The Mint. Superbly equipped and lots of attention to detail. The location in the centre of the town is perfect for accessing shops, pubs, cafes, walks, trains, etc., but there is a small trade-off - it can be noisy late at night as people find their way home from the pubs - more so on Fri/Sat nights. Also the deliveries, refuse collectors and street cleaners come early (6.30am), the latter every day. Having said that, it is a small sacrifice for staying in a wonderful cottage in a lovely town.
Our stay at the property was lovely. Excellent conversion to the property. comfortable with everything you need. Sue and Rob are very friendly. Lovely walk into Hastings as well along the coast. Thanks Sue and Rob.
We really enjoyed our few days at oak Grove. Lots of good walks through the woods towards Haslemere and over Black down without having to take the car out. House itself was clean, cosy and warm. Good enclosed garden for the dog too! Nice to be able to walk into the village for bits and bobs, and easy drive into either Haslemere or Midhurst for supermarket. Would recommend the Red lion in the village for eating out.
Quiet restful holiday break in very pleasant surroundings. Excellent accommodation. Warm welcome from Mrs Wiseman set the tone for the holiday.
A very nice cottage, with lovely bedrooms, a super bathroom and a great lounge/kitchen. We did not spend too much time in the cottage, but when we were there we found it warm and very comfortable. The log burner was great in the evening. The surrounding area was delightful and the travel time to Rye, in a car, was fine. It wasn't cheap, but you get what you pay for in life.
Poets barn is a lovely property in a countryside location near to town for shopping and plenty to do locally and further afield.
Both my partner and I thought that the apartment was wonderful. We both enjoyed staying there. It is very well laid out.
Copyhold Barn is extremely spacious with a lovely comfortable lounge and well equipped kitchen. We were very pleased to have large bedded twin room with disabled shower for 2 elderly relatives. The kind owner put a bit of heating on for us even though not normally needed in September to keep our elderly folk comfortable. Well situated for exploring Chichester.
What a delightful, peaceful, clean & comfortable Cottage. Everything had been thought of, a perfect 'home from home' A perfect base to visit such a delightful county. Thank you
An absolutely stunning property in a fantastic location with such welcoming hosts. Would highly recommend.
Lambles is perfect accomodation with everything for a very comfortable stay and Seaford and surrounding areas never fails to please.
A delightful cottage in which to stay - in Autumn as it happened. As Keats might say in "a season of mists and mellow fruitfulness". The owner's garden is outstanding. And if it rained there was a most extensive library to enjoy.
The cottage was lovely and warm and very convenient for us visiting family in Sheet. Will definately be using it again.
We were delighted when we drove in, and even more so when we opened the door into the Barn. It was so welcoming and warm. Such a lovely location. Very quiet and relaxing, yet still close to everywhere we wanted to go. It was so nice to return to such a peaceful place after a day out. Don't worry if you forget anything because Kip has thought of everything, even down to a new toothbrush or a pair of reading glasses! Amazing place. We will definitely be going again.
We spent two weeks at Selden Black. The studio was very well equipped with everything you might need. Owners were very lovely and helpful and on hand if you have any problems. We had a lovely time!
Relaxing cottage with huge garden. Ideal location for Glydnebourne! Warm welcome from the owner and a very FULL fridge!
We were lucky to have stayed at Marine Drive for Christmas which is in a very good position close to the village and the beach. Lovely en-suite bedroom with a fantastic shower also the main bathroom had really good shower. Fabulous well stocked kitchen with thoughtful touches like milk and teabags and a bottle of wine thankyou!. I was a bit worried about the stairs as there was a 2 year old in the party but the owner Lucy kindly organised a stairgate and a cot.
Hayreed Barn is a small, very lovely stone cottage on a wonderfully located farm. Ideal for 2 - 4 guests. The area is beautiful, the farm is surrounded bei old trees and fields. The owners are super nice and friendly and help whenever you need them. Thanx a lot for the welcome breakfast - this was a very special and warm welcome. We will definitively come back, because we want to spend our next holdidays in Sussex.
Very comfortable stay. Everything worked well. There was always plenty of hot water and good showers. The property was in a quiet residential area with woodland walks opposite and also a 10 minute walk into New Milton. The owner was very friendly and welcoming and helpful.
I would recommend this cottage to anyone. Our contact was extremely helpful without being intrusive. As everything was perfect there are no complaints. Thank you.
Wonderful cottage that sleeps 10 comfortably with lots of space inside and out for a family occasion.
Brilliant stay at Regency House. Lots of character and comfort in a great location! Great space easily catering to a large group. A little worried about parking but we all found a space just outside. Definitely recommend!
This is a perfect peaceful location - there is beautiful countryside all around that you can just walk out into. It is also close enough to be able to walk into and enjoy the amenities in Arundel. The A27 nearby enables you to easily travel along the coast in both directions. John and Karen were delightful hosts.
We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas at Ockman Cottage, which had been beautifully decorated and heated before our arrival. The house is comfortable and well equipped, and the owners are very friendly and helpful. We would love to return to explore the area further.
A very modern and uniquely styled place to stay, there's a great view both front and rear of the well kept gardens. It is situated on private road so there's very little traffic going past, both the owners are very friendly and helpful and made us feel at home from the minute we arrived. A supermarket is less than 10 minutes drive away with a good pub/restaurant about 15 minutes walk along the private road, all in all we had a very enjoyable7 days stay.
Lovely location with scenic walks on your doorstep. A very quiet and peaceful setting within the grounds of the owners house. Friendly welcome by the owners. The accommodation is very comfortable and supplied with all that you need for your stay. This was our first visit to West Sussex and we were truly captured by it rural beauty and will be returning again, would be more that happy to come back to the Print Studio.
Lovely cosy cottage with a gorgeous inglenook! very comfortable sofas (no throws were there but we brought 2 for the dog!!) The bed was probably one of the most comfortable we have slept in! The kitchen was very clean with 99% of things that you would need (no corkscrew however!!) The bathroom was great with a large bath. The heating worked very well which was good as it was a cold weekend! The owner was extremely helpful when we contacted him at the beginning of the holiday, and was so kind to leave a birthday card and sweets!! There were lots of walks a stones throw from the cottage and...more
Freeland Stables has been expertly converted into a 2 bed holiday let. Warm & welcoming interiors. Ideal for our dog because it was detached with a secure garden. Lots of great Public Footpath walks on the doorstep & the S. Downs a few minutes drive away. Thank you for the brownies & jug of milk on arrival. The only downsides were lack of serving spoons/ casserole dish in the kitchen. Also the bathroom was draughty under the sink- we plugged it with a T Shirt. Think there should have been a fire guard & tools for the log burner. It is the first place we have stayed in that didn'...more
We very much enjoyed our stay at Cowslip. The cottage looks small on the outside but is much larger on the inside and is fitted out to an impressive standard.
Apple Barn was centrally located for us to visit family and friends during our weeks stay. The Barn is spacious, comfortable, warm, well equipped and unbelievably peaceful being located in farm land, whilst being only a few miles from Chichester and the A27 .
Lovely, well equipped cottage. Would definitely book again. Good location - easy to travel out to places
I didn't visit the cottage myself, it was an anniversary gift for my parents. However they were both thrilled with everything, from the gorgeous cottage itself, to the personal touches left by Janet the owner. Janet got in touch herself and gave thorough info so that my parents knew how to access the internet, where to get logs for the woodburner and even said they could arrive as early as they wanted to on the first day. There was a note left in the cottage that says Janet is going to stop renting out the cottage due to a change in circumstance which my parents were gutted about, as they ...more
We have just come back from spending Christmas at Brewery cottage with six of us and i cannot fault it. The house itself is lovely and full of character - just what you would wish for in such an historic town. The low ceilings, original beams, working open fireplace and furnishings are perfect and in great condition. The kitchen was well equiped and incredibly clean and the large cooker was perfect for cooking Christmas dinner on! There were lots of little touches which shows just how much the owners have thought about people’s comfort, like the torches on hooks as you walk into each ...more
We found such a warm welcome from Ann & Phil for us and our 4 legged friend at Priory Cottage. Terrific location. From the road the house and cottage cannot be seen. From there we could explore the coast from Beachy Head to Chichester harbour and so many beautiful downs villages. Loved the 900 yr history of the main tower. The cottage was nicely tucked away in the beautiful garden and had everything we needed for a relaxing week away. Hope to return to see more of the area.
The cottage was comfortable, well-equipped and clean and the host, Dora was very accommodating indeed. She was was friendly and helpful. The one slight improvement which we thought could be made would be to provide lightweight duvets for the summer months. We have already recommended Courtyard Cottage to family.
We stayed here early in December, when our home area suffered heavy snow. Luckily for us Lazy Meadow had none. The weather was awful though, with either a lot of rain, frozen ground to walk on, or cold winds to endure. The house was warm and the furniture cosy. The owner Alex quickly sorted out some minor problems we found and couldn't have been more helpful. The kitchen was very well equipped. The garden is in need of a good tidy up.
Excellent. Vast space to relax in . Very comfortable. Helpful hosts. Great position in sussex. Go now!
The Mouse House is one of three cottages located on the owners farm, constructed by converting former barns / cattle sheds. The cottage has been thoughtfully and well appointed and provides comfortable and cozy accommodation for two persons. We were staying in early December to visit friends and family in the area, and appreciated the really excellent electric heating in the cottage which meant it was lovely and warm whenever you needed it. Some minor negative issues for us were : WiFi reception is not very good and no mobile phone coverage; the parking area can be tight when all three cottage...more
Very friendly host but still felt private. The cottage is small and cosy but had all we needed. Lots of places to explore within a short driving distance.
We stayed at River Cottage due to renovations on our own home, so we know the area! Cottage is cosy and warm and the wood burner is very efficient if you need an extra boost. Lovely location amd beautiful walks. Clean tidy and everything we needed! Thanks Vanessa
Admittedly only 2 of us (not 4) but this was a great find and was so well appointed. Lovely property.
The studio was tucked away in a quiet, private little spot which somehow also managed to be close to the train station and high street - making it very convenient for both relaxing exploring. It was a lovely base from which to explore Rye and the surrounding areas. It was straight forward to book, the key pick up and drop off went smoothly and Sharon, the owner, was very welcoming.
A simply lovely place - beautifully maintained, welcoming and warm - even at the cold end of November: snowflakes drifting past window on last morning, yet drinks on the deck in earlier days' sunshine. The technicalities of electrics were challenging at 80, but even the towel rail heating (very necessary in the bathroom) got sorted with help! A possible extra would be some brighter lighting in the "snug" to add cheer. The walk to family living in Cuckfield was/is so very convenient that I'm sure I will be making future visits to The Granary. Very many thanks to all concerned.
Lovely break away, shame about the weather but the cottage was perfect. Ian made sure all was well. Would go back!
We had a lovely stay at Ivy Cottage, which was our base for days out with the children. The cottage was comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. A good time was had by all!
Paines Cottage is a nice place to stay ,covenient to lots of coastal towns and not too far from london. As it was rented out for two adults and two children, a double bed for us , and two singles or bunk beds for the children would have been more suitable.
Daisy cottage had everything we could need and more in a perfect location. Really comfortable and clean.
We enjoyed our stay very much. No problem at all to stay there with nine people, plenty of room, The kitchen is well equipped for large parties, with large pans, and lots of cutlery, glasses and plates. Good beds. Beautiful surroundings, we made four walks nearby. Especially recommended: the South Downs, near Ditchling. We also had a nice meal at the Crabtree, a pub just across the (busy) road. Used the gym of the hotel a few times, a nice extra!
Excellent stay in this nice cottage un Arundel. Very clean house. Close to the city center. Nice garden. We always found place in the street to park. We won't hesitate to come back.
Loved the cottage full of charm, warm and cosy. Would be good if a washing machine was available but other than that it is an excellent place to stay. The Gardener's Arm in the near by town has great food and very popular. Located on a quiet street in a beautiful country setting, I would love to stay there again.
Parkhurst Cottage provided an ideal location for us to visit the places of interest we wanted to see in West Sussex. The cottage was well equipped, homely and a good size, with comfortable beds. The welcome goodies were much appreciated and the housekeeper was available to deal with any questions promptly. Parking was nice and easy. Altogether it was a lovely quiet place to stay.
Very comfortable cosy cottage. Thank you for adding the Christmas decorations (and the bottle of wine for our arrival). Perfect location to wander into Arundel and to access the park for walks into the Downs. Everything on our doorstep - no need to get into the car.
A very comfortable cottage, with warm efficient heating, in a very peaceful setting. The general standard was very high, with every kitchen appliance and utensil you need. The central heating was very efficient and the wood burner a nice extra. Our only two minor negatives were: a) the lounge sofas were very low and quite hard. b) the bathroom would benefit from a shower (or shower attachment) rather than a bath, although we realise a bath is good for young children. Overall a comfortable cottage in excellent condition.
The flat was very clean and comfortable. We made a few requests (early check in and a late check out) and the host was very accommodating and prompt response. It really felt as if the property was cared for. Would definitely recommend this property.
We stayed at Hunters Cottage for a long weekend. We loved the location and had great walks and pub visits. We went daily to Glyndebourne which is very close. We loved the cozy kitchen. Excellent for post opera suppers. Lovely sitting room with open fire. Wonderful friendly welcome - we were well looked after. We have already booked again!
We had a lovely long weekend here with our two young children. Very comfortable, warm and homely house with everything you could need. The only suggestions we would make are that a shower woukd be nice, and a microwave. Other than that, it was perfect. Loved the decor, the log burner, the super kitchen, oh and the beds are the most comfortable we have ever slept in!
My dog and I stayed over the Christmas period and absolutely loved this rural gem! The hostess, Emma, is so lovely and welcoming. I recommend to all!
Lovely little cottage very nicely fitted out, warm and welcoming. Would say though that it would be a bit of a squeeze for 4 people, especially sitting downstairs but perfect for a couple. Clean and comfortable, thoroughly enjoyed it.
A well appointed and clean cottage in a quiet location. A carton of milk on arrival would have been welcome
Our 3rd stay at Tackleway Cottage, we love the location and the local amenities. The house is really well kitted out and suits 4 of us (children aged 5 & 7) perfectly. There is plenty of space for us all and it have everything we need. We hope to return again! The spiral stairs may make it difficult for some but they do at least free up floor space.
The house was very comfortable and warm. Exactly what we wanted for a family weekend for a Special Birthday celebration. It was very well equipped and we had everything we needed.
The house is full of charm and feels like the residents have just gone out for a stroll because it's full of art, books and music. Kitchen is well-stocked for cooking and baking, and the barbeque set made a welcome change from the Aga. Beautiful location and lush garden allowed plenty of space to stretch out and relex without getting in each other's space. The second bathroom could benefit from some modernising but the seasonal spiders didn't seem to mind! Must have a car to overcome its relative remoteness. In short, a lovely location that feels like a home, not an anonymous modern box.
Garden Cottage was the perfect location for our traditional and cosy Christmas. It was probably the best presented and equipped cottage we have stayed in so far and was spotlessly clean. Towels, bedding appeared new and the mattress was of very good quality. Furniture was an eclectic mix of styles and periods, but added to the charm of this beautiful property. The provision of wine, milk, mince pies and biscuits was a nice touch. The log burner was particularly welcome on cold evenings and helped to supplement the heating system. A couple of small issues - The Aga was used daily, but strugg...more
Beautifully presented and comfortable converted barn, warm and cosy. We have rented many holiday properties over the years but have never before had to provide our own towels. At this price we would expect there to be wi fi available, a dishwasher, a decent sized TV, heated towel rail and a better shower. The lack of wi fi was particularly irksome. Having said that, the beds were comfortable, we appreciated being able to take our dog, and the property was spotlessly clean and the location ideal.
Quaint place to stay very cosy with lovely outlook lovely present for a special birthday present they loved it.
Great location friendly atmosphere very welcoming touches such as milk tea and biscuits...and high standard of facilities...would love to return soon and stay for longer
Just enjoyed a long weekend at Celebration Cottage with friends. The house is fantastic! Lovely large, clean, bright, modern rooms. Huge kitchen and utility with lots of fridge and cupboard space and great big table everyone can sit round. Two sitting rooms with TVs. All bedrooms were really spacious and warm with lovely views. The set up was perfect for us as all rooms are single or twin. We were 7 adults but it didn't feel crowded at all. Even managed to get 4 cars on the drive!! Sadly, too cold to enjoy the beautiful outside space but it would be brilliant in the summer with its outside ...more
From the moment we arrived at Little Timbers we felt at home. The house is not pristine but it was warm, cosy and perfect for us. The lounge was the perfect size for six adult and the kitchen/diner over looking the garden was perfect too. We all said we would love to return again in the summer to enjoy the beach and garden in warmer weather but that we would also look to see if we could book again for another Christmas holiday. Thank you Little Timbers
Near the Cathedral and wonderful parkland 2 minutes walk away this was ideal for us and our dogs. Loads to do and see in beautiful Arundel
Swallowfield is a lovely cottage with all mod cons, the kitchen was very well equipped, we especially liked the separate fridge and freezer, the sitting room was very comfortable so were the beds, the cottage has everything you need. Within walking distance of shops and nice pub serving good food. Although near a road the cottage was quiet. It has a small garden sufficient to sit out and hang out washing. We have booked again for next year. The only downside is the road as the cottage exit is on a bend and it's difficult to see traffic coming from the right. If there was a mirror on the road t...more
Excellent property, everything works, comfortable and quirky. It being winter we could not really take advantage of the outside space. Would hope to return in warmer weather to take enjoy long leisurely bbq's. Would recommend for family gatherings.
Enjoyed our long weekend at Fisher Dairy, it's in a great rural location with lovely walks from the doorstep but also close to town. We had a dog with us and the enclosed garden was perfect. Beds were fantastic...extremely comfortable, though better bedside/reading lighting would have been nice. Kitchen was fairly well equipped but missing some basics like a baking tray which we needed to heat up the ready meals we had brought with us! Could do with a more comfortable sofa too! So, a few little niggles, but overall a nice, well maintained property and a very enjoyable stay overall.
A perfect location to access lots of beautiful circular walks. The charming cottage had all of the amenities we needed.
Perfect location near the station and several supermarkets. Lovely cottage, very clean and comfortable. Friendly owners.
We were very comfortable. BUT I have never lived in or visited a property with so much air freshener, either plugged into sockets or spray canisters placed around the house. Considering the fact that pets were not allowed I do wonder what all the toxic fumes (and they can be allergenic) were trying to hide. It obviously does not bother some people but there was no getting away from it as bed clothes and everything seemed to be sprayed. I wonder does the owner know that the cleaners use so much of it. I therefore have to say I would not stay here again under the present circums...more
We enjoyed the cosy house on the Weir, the kitchen was well equipped and the bedrooms were comfortable. The parking was a little tricky as you need to reverse out of a tight slot in front of the house.
we stayed at the old tractor shed for a week whilst visiting Sussex in January. it was the most perfect location in lovely countryside and on arrival we were so pleased with the actual cottage, it was homely, beautifully furnished and as it was winter we were able to light a fire with the wood that was kindly supplied by the owners.David and Toni were perfect hosts giving us local information but leaving us to do our own thing most of the time. A great weeks stay and would definitely stay again if ever in the area in future.
Mostly good/excellent and we enjoyed our stay. The 'ok' re condition relates to lack of carpeting in the sitting room and main bedroom which made those rooms less cosy than single bedrooms. Better lighting in the dining area of the front room would also be an improvement.
The house is charming and with plenty of space both on the ground floor with a good separation between the kitchen, the dining room and the living room, as on the first floor where the bedroom and bathroom are. Everything prepared for you to feel better than at home. In the house, there are several books in case you forgot to take a reading, and in the room, you have all kinds of guides for the area. Near the house, there are several routes for those who enjoy walking and want to forget the car for a few days. Also, the owner will give you all kinds of extra information you may need about t...more
My second time in Whippingham. I have friends and relatives on IOW and the Creek is a great base from which to see them all and to have peaceful solitude when needed. It is well placed for ferry access, Newport shops , Osborne etc.
We enjoyed our holidays in the old and very nice little house in the heart of Hastings Old Town just at the time of Old Town Carnival Week (we didn't know before) with a lot of opportunities to learn about Hastings history. There was a short walk to the rail-station, so we went for sightseeing also to Brighton, The Seven Sisters near Eastbourne, Rye, Canterbury. Returning home in the evening we relaxed at Old Town Bolthole. We didn't miss a car at all. Lovely place!
We had a wonderful stay. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. The location was excellent too. A home from home and a thoroughly enjoyable stay in the beautiful countryside.
It's a lovely place to stay if you want peace and quiet but the road was very narrow for out big car and too far away from a village .would have loved to walk to a local put with out driving ,It's great if you want to get away from it all .
Perfect location. Nearby the park and its further surroundings to walk the dog (for hours, including nice pubs for lunch). Inside the older village (which brings you back two centuries). Very close to the best an most hospitable pub (the dog definitely agrees). The cottage is clean, complete, warm and offers all the facilities you can wish for with four adults and two dogs. Didn't miss anything, although i make it a habit to bring my own cooking knives, tea glasses and filter coffee (which was not necessary). There is a sufficient amount of cleaning tools (including consumables). Towels, be...more
We had a very enjoyable holiday in this well equipped house. It had everything we needed. And its proximity to the beach meant even our young children could walk there.
We booked Little House as it was near our son's home, we live in Cornwall and our other children live in Essex and Hong Kong. We all wanted to be together for Christmas and so the location was ideal. It was spacious downstairs with two bedrooms and a bathroom all of a good size and a further ensuite bedroom upstairs (couldn't work the heating upstairs so it tended to be cold). The open plan kitchen and living room allowed a very sociable space. The games room is a great addition when you have a lot of people around and is equipped with a table tennis equipment and a few board games. Al...more
In the middle of the town for a couple it was a good stay Visiting Goodwood and also Portsmouth Arondel as a base is a fine place
When we arrived it was just getting dark. The house was warm and welcoming with a delightful display of fresh lilies. An above average welcome pack was provided. The cottage was quirky with difficult stairs which could have posed a problem should we have been slightly infirm. To our surprise the London to Brighton vintage car rally happened on the Sunday and passed right outside our front door. I was a real treat. Only problem was that the dish washer kept on blowing the fuses. I phoned the owner after the week end, who was very courteous, and we agreed that the repair would be made after we ...more
I absolutely loved staying at Beach Reach. Not only was it an ideal house to spend my 70th birthday with my family but I personally felt there was a spiritual calmness about the place and I honestly didn't want to leave.. I could have stayed forever.
Inside the cottage is cosy and finished to a high standard. Both bathrooms have fantastic powerful showers! I only gave comfort good not excellent as inside there was only room to seat 5 people to watch a film (a 3 seater sofa and two chairs) but it can sleep 6. Outside there was a nice patio area and large table with chairs but the property is not quite finished and it was a shame the grass area is like a ploughed field, full of ruts and the driveway isnt fully finished ( it looks like another property is being built 100yrds or so away but no building was done while we were they so it was sti...more
We normally book Air BnB and this experience has underlined why we do. The location was excellent and had the property matched the location it would have been lovely. However, on entering it was clear that whilst it may have been cleaned - it wasn't to an acceptable standard. There was rubbish remaining from previous occupants. There was no basket of logs (as detailed) the matchbox was empty so even if there had been logs it would not have helped. We therefore had to go out and find somewhere to buy the logs - not a major issue but on arriving the last ting we wanted to do after driving f...more
We had a superb weekend in South Stoke, one of the loveliest hamlets in Sussex. Glorious walking, and the cottage was very clean and comfortable - thank you. Two points: it was rather tantalising to look at the open fire and not be able to light it. Just over the next few months, I would recommend that mid-week visitors in search of peace check how the building work is going next door. It was all beautifully quiet at the weekend, but work started on Monday morning and I was very glad we hadn't booked a mid-week stay.
Very comfortable stay in Fantasy Cottage. Well located for everything Steyning has to offer. Owner very helpful with a minor key problem! Would definitely stay here again.
A memorable holiday for all of the right reasons! What could be better than staying on a vineyard nestling a steam railway! The accommodation was excellent, clean and very comfortable. It seemed fully, and well, equipped however the fridge struggled to keep its contents cool. The only person we met on the farm was Don who seemed to be Mr Fixit. He was very welcoming, friendly and helpful! Fortunately we chose the hottest week of the year to visit Sussex and this meant evenings were spent on the patio with BBQ food followed by a short stroll to the lakes to watch the leaping fish and other wild...more
We could not have chosen anything better for our week exploring West Sussex. The centre of superb walking country especially for the Sussex Hants Border Walk and such easy access to the train network was a real bonus. The cottage was ideal for 2 couples, the welcome pack much appreciated and everything was spotless, beds comfortable and generally a well equipped kitchen. We particularly appreciated spacious bedrooms and shower rooms. Lots of facilities on the doorstep yet quiet and relaxing.
Very comfortable and relaxing stay, very friendly and helpful owners. Really enjoyed our stay. Would recommend to friends.
The cottage is clean, comfortable and well equipped. The bedrooms are spacious, the upstairs bedroom being particularly attractive. Negatives? The upstairs shower was occasionally hit and miss, sometimes running hot then cold. We were not so keen on the downstairs toilet being entered from the lounge and the dining room door has to be closed in order to open the fridge. The courtyard is good for al fresco dining but would not be suitable for anyone wanting to stretch out for sunbathing. These are all small points however, and did not detract from a very nice stay.
Had a lovely weekend stay at this beautiful cottage close to the town. Very well equipped and newly renovated
Nice character cottage. Good parking. Nice kitchen. Comfortable beds. Step hazard at foot of stairs needs better highlighting. Hot water far too hot. Whoever cleans the property really should move the lounge furniture when hoovering ... there was rubbish and grit under the settee. Low beams in places were difficult for our 6-foot member of party.
The cottage is situated right next door to a children's adventure farm on a quiet lane, so in terms of location, it was just what we were seeking. The cottage had all mod cons and was aesthetically pleasing. However, we were dissatisfied with the comfort of the beds and also the place clearly had not been thoroughly cleaned in a while, as there were pet hairs and clumps of dust around the place and bits of rubbish under the beds. The property also would benefit from a decorative touch up. That said, the owners were very welcoming and helpful. We would recommend to others if the above...more
The terraced cottage was welcoming and had a fantastic welcome basket when we arrived. The location was unique because it's in the heart of historical Rye. Just a few steps to the infamous Mermaid Inn and an array of beautiful buildings that will charm you. However we all had trouble with the door key and entering sometimes, we then realized you had to turn the metal ring with the key to enter, this was a little frustrating at times. There is no outside light so when you return at night you can't see to get in unless the neighbour has their outside light on, this is a necessity because the ste...more
Nice little well kept and placed cottage. Great for walking dog, Very peaceful so great for a relaxing holiday.
The Well House takes a bit of finding, but when we did all our hopes and expectations were realised. If you've chosen to stay here you presumably want peace, quiet, remote and countryside. It's all here in abundance. Then we found the key went in and fell in love with it. There is a Lovely cozy lounge area, dining area looking out over the field, nicely fitted kitchen and bathroom and the bed in the ceiling, which, was so comfortable. Plus some lovely quirky pieces and ornaments dotted around. We had a wonderful relaxing week in The Well House.
Our stay was really lovely. It was very peaceful, and the perfect place to recharge the batteries. The scenery and walks were beyond beautiful, it brought so much contentment and happiness.
Lovely, cosy house with stunning views. Friendly and helpful owner. Kitchen large and well equipped, lounge large and comfortable. Bedrooms comfortable, bathroom adequate but needs some tlc. Newly installed heating in lounge and kitchen is very good. Had a lovely few days stay, lucky with the weather and the dogs loved the walks and swims. Would definitely stay there again.
This is a nice property let down by poor maintenance. When we arrived one of the bedrooms was not made up and there was a mattress on the floor making it look very unsightly. The toilet flush in the downstairs bedroom was not working properly and the shower in this room was constantly dripping. The kitchen area needs some attention with a loose and delaminated door and some of the chairs in the lounge need cleaning. The owners were very nice and apologetic but we felt these problems should have been addressed prior to our arrival. I think this property could be top class but the owners need to...more
Modern house well equipped. Shame about the limited parking. In general house style suits only 2 adults and kids due to only one shower and small kitchen/dining area. Office/lounge extension was a plus.
Very Nice and cozy little cottage. We had lovely Weather so used the patio a lot. The only drawback was the noise from a busy Road close by.
With someone living below, we found it almost impossible to walk across the hard wood floor quietly. A carpet or large rug in the bedroom would have been very helpful. In the kitchen some basic items we have normally found in other properties were not available. A washing up bowl, hand-wash, small sharp knife for preparing dishes (the very large sharp kitchen knives were too clumsy) and a microwave. We were not sure whether the one towel in the kitchen was intended for drying dishes or drying hands..
The property was very clean and comfortable and in a good location. Parking was an issue though. The house is situated on a side road on a hill. Some of the neighbours put traffic cones outside their properties to stop others parking. Luckily, I have a small car and managed to squeeze into a space in the first day. There is "four hour" free parking opposite the property on the main road but it was impossible to find spaces. There is a car park at the bottom of the hill which charges £9.50 per day. I had my elderly mother with me and being able to park close to the property was importan...more
