Everything at The Old Workshop was as described. We used it as a bolthole when helping our son to move house and it was a perfect haven of calm. The owners were very welcoming and helpful and provided some extra little touches that were much appreciated. Located in a pretty little village with a pub open walking distance. We would definitely use again.
The barn is in a lovely location with beautiful views and a great place for walking, we did a 14 mile circular one from the barn around Amberley. Lovely big main room with extremely comfy sofas and a log burning stove, very well equipped kitchen and big bar and dining table so perfect for families or groups. Boot/utility room very useful for muddy things. Lovely comfy beds and soft blankets to snuggle with. Bathrooms all new and nice. Everything was immaculate and very new. We loved staying here and think it must also be amazing in fine weather when you can sit outside, although also a great p...more
Beautiful straw house in a beautiful surrounding. Our dog loved it walks are amazing. Spent Christmas week here would highly recommended it. The owners are lovely very helpfully. It is a working farm and if you ask the owners you can look around the farm. Would love to visit. Again.
Warm welcome on arrival with fresh homemade cakes on the table in the kitchen. The owners and staff were very kind and helpful throughout my stay. Plenty to do and see and well located for visits out. I definitely want to go back it’s such a good place to be. Many thanks to Mandy persuading me to see the animals even though I had my dog with me, just loved it. Thank you everyone.
We can honestly say that the cottage was the most perfect one that we have ever stayed in. Louise and James had thought of every detail to make our stay comfortable and welcoming.
We cannot recommend this place enough. Brilliant accomodation, thoughtful touches & friendly owner .
Jubilee House is a great place to stay as it is so handy to shops and theatre and surrounding attractions in West Sussex. I recommend it highly.
The cottage we stayed in was just as it was advertised, it was very well equiped, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The hosts were very attentive with just the right level of contact while we were staying there, the location is very good, just a few minuets from the shops and beaches, The cream tea on arrival is a very nice touch. If we travel in that area again we would definitely stay there again.
We had a delightful 4-night stay at Daisy Byre. Very comfortable cottage, clean and modern, with everything you need for an enjoyable, relaxing break. We received a very warm welcome from the owners and were made to feel at home right from the start. Lovely hospitality by all, including the staff working on the adjacent farm. The complimentary passes to the farm were a bonus (as was a delightful evening in the theatre located on the farm watching a production of 'The Wind in the Willows'). A thoroughly enjoyable stay. The village of Wisborough Green and the surrounding West Sussex area has ...more
The owner was very pleasant and helpful, we found the accommodation very comfortable and had everything we needed and also exceptionally clean. It is in a good location and there are plenty of Places of Interest nearby to visit.
Stayed at Byne Cottage for 5 nights. Five adults and one baby stayed here and cottage was very spacious, well equipped with everything you could possibly want. A welcome hamper was a nice touch and much appreciated and enjoyed. Location was beautiful with views over the countryside, nice and quiet too. Local shops are only a few minutes drive away - small co-op that sells everything and a fab fish and chip shop too! Would definitely recommend this gorgeous cottage and host John was very helpful and friendly. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
The House is very clean and great equipped, except for a stove there is everything you need to feel comfortable. The Landlords are very nice. I highly recommend this property.
Little Marshfoot is comfortable, cosy, very well equipped and ideally located for exploring the surrounding area. Pat was a friendly host who made us feel very welcome, suggesting attractions we might enjoy visiting nearby and recommending places to eat. Little Marshfoot is beautifully decorated and the little extra touches such as the fresh flowers and wine made this place even more special. We had a very relaxing break and hope we can return in the future.
This is a lovely cottage. Much thought has gone into making a newish build look 300years old. Clever quirky bits inside and out, even in the brickwork. It showed the thoughtfulness of the owners even as they were renovating. There are mod cons where you want them in the kitchen and bathroom, but they were tastefully done to fit the building. Beds were very comfortable. Heather was very friendly and attentive to our needs even though Roger was very ill. The courtyard planting encouraged butterflies. There were wrens just outside the window, and a cleverly placed mirror meant I coul...more
Beautiful location and property. 20 minute walk through peaceful countryside to reach the Griffin pub..really good pint of Sussex ale. The owners were very welcoming and helpful and gave us some good pointers. We went to Burling Gap on their recommendation and as a family who aren’t keen on crowds, really enjoyed this part of the coast. My family and i found this property very relaxing to stay in and would definitely stay again.
Clean, well appointed and comfortable with many thoughtful extras including basic groceries, ice, toiletries and an awesome tv with movies included. We had a lovely chilled out stay- many thanks to Ann the owner who was both friendly and entirely unobtrusive.
Eve’s cottage is lovely and is even better than the photos show. Ian was great to deal with and have us lots of recommendations for walks and eating places. The cottage is immaculate and was spacious enough for the 6 of us. It is extremely well equipped and we especially enjoyed the wood burning stove. It is well situated in the centre of Arundel where there is lots to do and explore. I would definitely recommend it !
Just back from a very comfortable stay. Although the weather was a little mixed, we had everything we needed in the accommodation. Kitchen was well stocked with crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, cloths, tea towels and some cleaning products. Good heating and plenty of hot water. Parking outside was fine, if a little busy at school time with parents parking to collect children from school. The village shop had all the basics, the Cricketers pub was friendly, but the other pub was temporarily closed. We did one walk from the village, but generally we explored further afield. The deer park at Pet...more
Beautifully clean and fitted out cottage in a lovely village. We came here to escape a new bathroom being installed at our home and we feel so lucky that we chose to come here. If it was possible to give it more than 5 stars we would .
A lovely house extremely well equipped. Close to country walks and NT houses and the coast. Very hospitable hosts. Delicious cakes on arrival. Toys books and games left for guests. We had a lovely week.
I've been to Beacon Cottage before - loved it last time and loved it again this time. It manages to be both compact and roomy and is well-equipped and immaculately turned out. Always snug too. I was using it as base for a weekend walking on the South Downs, for which its situation by the foot of Ditchling Beacon is perfect, allowing me to start my walks from the front door. Although in quite a quiet place, it is only a few minutes off the A23, so is easy to get to, and only a few miles from Brighton. The owners are so kind and friendly too, and always make me feel welcome. Highly recommended.
With our friends of over 40yrs we have a weekend away at this time each year. We have been to many locations & accommodation but none as good as The Barn and surrounding area. We all agree we will definitely be back.
Great little property that was not very little. Whilst only set up for two, with just the one bedroom, there was plenty of room for us and it felt almost spacious. Very tastefully fitted out with decent quality furniture and an excellent bed. Pippa was a delightful host and made us very welcome. Location good in a lovely part of the country. We had a great week.
This was our second visit to the cottage. It’s a charming place in beautiful surroundings and the hosts are lovely.
We had an excellent fortnight in this quality property. We look forward to returning in the near future.
We loved our stay in Longwall House at the weekend. It's a cosy house in a great location with stylish features and all mod cons and we were extremely comfortable there; it also had lots of considerate additions and helpful notes from Nick the owner. Please pass on our compliments.
The title says it all. Also we will return next year for a longer stay because the accommodation is so good.
Lovely neat comfortable cottage. Adjacent owners helpful but not obtrusive. A quiet hideaway location with great walks from the door. No local facilities, but walk to pub across fields possible.
An excellent barn conversion with stunning views over the countryside. Really comfortable, cosy cottage with everything you could need and furnished to a very high standard. Owners Carol & Peter provide a warm welcome and are very helpful. As birdwatchers we loved it, we seemed to see more wildlife from the cottage than we did at the nearby RSPB reserve. Location is great with lots to do nearby both in good and bad weather. Lovely village setting with a good local shop, tearooms and pub. Will definitely be returning.
This is a lovely comfortable cottage, perfect for one or two people. Very good position to explore Storrington and the South Downs area. Would highly recommend it.
The Cottage is very spacious and comfortable in a beautiful location. We were attending Goodwood Revival and it was a lovely peaceful haven to come home to. We loved sitting outside watching the wild life. The hosts, David and Lucy, were very welcoming. We will definitely be back. Dave and Grace Stevenson, Allithwaite
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this beautifully modified granary building which every modern comfort you could wish for. The setting and grounds are magnificent. We had a very warm welcome from the owners and enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing and peaceful stay.
Little Willow was ideally situated for exploring Rye. It is convenient, comfortable and quiet. We hope to return sometime.
Really good and well furnished property. So nice to find that things like tea towels clothes washing up soap etc all provided. So often, u go to places and nothing like that. Also special touch with the tea coffee choc basket as well. Owners were lovely to my mum. Only little thing was the sofas could be updated as getting a bit ‘saggy’ but otherwise, a perfect property with a fantastic location. Xx
This is our second stay at the Stables. Everything was excellent except the weather! Vyvyian on hand if you have any queries or problems, which we didn’t. Highly recommended.
Made to feel very welcome with an amazing welcome hamper! The accommodation is stunning in beautiful surroundings, we had a great stay!
Very stylish house, great interior, design bathrooms, very clean and in a superb location right across the Arundel castle site.
The cottage is in an amazing location with such a spectacular view from the living room couch! The property had everything we needed for a short stay and was very clean and well laid-out. The owner was super friendly and helpful and made sure we felt at home in the cottage. Even though the cottage is in the middle of beautiful countryside with incredible views, it is still easy to access with it only being a couple of miles up wide country lanes from the A27. Arundel is a short drive away and has plenty to see and do, including Arundel cathedral and castle which I would highly recommend visiti...more
A very well equiped apartment which was comfortable and clean. Well positioned for seafront and shops. A wide range of resteraunts to suit all tastes within easy walking distance. Parking was ok but could be a little aukward at busy times like the airshow. A very considerate welcome pack on arrival along with a very useful personal greeting. Overall a great stay in an apartment that I would recommend.
Buttercup and Daisy are lovely compact holiday studios ideal for a couple or single person stay. We found the property to be in good order, clean and equipped, although crockery is at the minimum (2 mugs, 2 wine glasses etc..). The layout of the studio works well and the bed was really comfy. Parking at Buttercup is a bit fiddly to get your car through the gate into the allocated space/reverse out. The best feature of this property is its location - a 20-25 minute walk into Rye or a 10 minute drive. Rye itself is a beautiful town with many lovely features. Rye Harbour reserve, Dungerne...more
We had a lovely return visit to the cottage. It’s a fantastic location for exploring Sussex, near some beautiful gardens (and the one on site is gorgeous), handy for Brighton and the coast, and also convenient for London from nearby Balcombe. Spotlessly super clean and amazing hosts too.
This was our third stay at Brooke's Cottage, which rather indicates that it is a great holiday home. It is certainly a super comfy base for walking the South Downs Way, which is literally on the doorstep. There are also other walking opportunities too in Jevington. The weather for our holiday was also perfect, as well as the views from the cottage. Also, there was no fear of getting chilly at Brooke's Cottage: it is certainly a cosy base!
Lovely cottage in an idyllic setting just a mile or so easy walk from Lindfield village with plenty of shops, cafes and pubs. Cottage is small but perfect for a couple and is spotlessly clean. Outside space with garden and seating. We enjoyed visiting all the national trust properties and numerous gardens in this area. Would not hesitate to recommend it and would certainly return ourselves.
This apartment was great for 2 people. Plenty of space and good facilities. It was nice to have your own car parking space.
Our third Autumn break in Sussex, and by far the most welcoming cottage - well stocked kitchen and comfy rooms. Good location for walks and very interesting museums at Amberley, Fishbourne and Tangmere...and Petworth House within walking distance. A very pleasant stay!
My friend and I had a wonderful stay in this lovely house. Fantastic location in the centre of Rye ideally placed for all amenities. We will definitely return.
lovely area to stay with a lovely cottage xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Oak Grove. The Cottage is well appointed with everything you need. Ideal base for walking the many local footpaths and The Witterings are not far away.
We booked Rose Cottage as a base while we negotiated on a new home, having sold our house in Cornwall. It proved an excellent choice, providing a very comfortable and well equipped base to return to each day. Pat and Nick could not have been more helpful. We would thoroughly recommend this as a great holiday home.
Adjacent to owners' house and moments from town centre and Petworth House this is a well equipped and comfortable house. The prosecco for my birthday was a lovely gesture although it's the first place I've rented for a long time without a few tea bags or a spot of milk.
The cottage was lovely, big enough for us and our three children. It was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was really well stocked, all the home comforts you need on a self catering holiday. It was a real home away from home, we had a brilliant time and hopefully will be back next year!
Excellent property run by very helpful and thoughtful family - thanks for the Lemon cake! Great location to explore West Sussex, with an abundance of nearby vineyards, quality pubs and historic towns all on walking routes.
Spacious and beautiful house, great views, secluded, but close to South Downs Way and local villages.
An excellent base, roomy and well laid out. An ideal spot for walking, cycling and chilling out. Road access to Maidstone or south to the coast is good and generally trouble-free. Headcorn the next small village is quaint and worth visiting for shopping and eating.
This converted garage has everything two people may ask for: it is quiet, spacious and sparkling clean. The owners are delightfully friendly and helpful. It has a kitchenette with two bar stools - while we did not use it, it is equipped for i.e. breakfast or simple cooking. Good bed, though not too large. The bathroom is somewhat on the small side and there is not much space for your cosmetics, no shelves apart from the mirror's. Decent towels. However, the shower is large. No bathtub. WIFI is stable and fast enough. There is a sofa and a large enough TV, but we did not use these.
On arriving I was shocked, I knew the house would be beautiful but it was far beyond my expectations! We had fabulous weather so spent alot of time in the charming pool. The gardens are gorgeous with speaking hills for miles and the house interia is full of amazing art. The perfect house for a large group with lovely kitchen and lots of compfy nooks to relax in. Could not have enjoyed our stay more, would love to come back! X
It was a real pleasure coming back to the cottage each day while exploring Sussex. Our 16-month daughter loved the walled garden and was fascinated by all the art. It was great being able to borrow a high chair as well. We hope to come back again next year.
We had a lovely week, the cottage was lovely, the kitchen well fitted and the welcome pack very well received. Hilary was very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday
Ideal quiet cottage with lovely furnishings, gorgeous garden, french windows, glassed in roof just as in web pic. Wi fi available, small TV, lovely bedroom and flowers arranged beautifully for you, with welcome cake and fruit. Book lover's paradise, books for every taste. Helpful and friendly hosts but may be selling so check you get Liz and Chris! Own parking, very relaxing place to stay.
We have stayed here on several occasions and will definitely be coming back. It's ideal for us when we visit from Wirral to see all our children, all of whom live in East Sussex Lesley and Paul are great hosts always welcoming us and nothing is too much trouble for them. It is definitely a home from home for us. Thank you Lesley and Paul for everything.
Very nice cottage in an inspiring and amazing landscape, 100% old Engeland. Perfect view on the Arundel Castle from our bedroom window and beautiful in the early morning with a misty ribbon above the Arun river.
Lovely comfortable property with friendly helpful hosts in a beautiful setting. Secluded but close enough to towns for everything one needed. Couldn't fault the accommodation.
Very beautiful barn conversion, comfy and cozy with everything needed. Lovely village, great pubs and great walks. A great base to explore the area within a 30-40 minutes drives. We had a very relaxing stay. We recommend it!
The Apartment was exactly as described on website and supplied details/ photographs. Close to the station.
Very comfortable and perfect for the Downs. ..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Yet another very enjoyable stay at Lazy Meadows. Wonderful location and comfortable house. Surprisingly peaceful spot
This is a very lovely cottage right in the centre of Rye. It’s cosy and warm (stayed in November) and very homely. The furniture is comfortable and I loved having Alexa to play all my favorite music. Nice touch! Great power shower too. However, I found the pillows very uncomfortable and I write this because it’s a very easy fix and then everything will be perfect. Some soft fluffy comfy pillows please!
Quiet restful holiday break in very pleasant surroundings. Excellent accommodation. Warm welcome from Mrs Wiseman set the tone for the holiday.
The property is lovely and comfortable, with nice modern appliances (with instructions available for all), and fantastic views! The location was perfect for me seeking a quiet break away from it all. It was really nice to find bread, milk, butter, fruit and wine left for me, but I wish I'd known about them in advance, as I bought all of the above with me, and ended up taking a lot of it back home again. My only real criticisms are that there wasn't enough toilet paper provided (only around a third of a roll for four days!), and the main bin in the kitchen was still half full of the last res...more
Had a fantastic long weekend. Beautiful location with the countryside and amazing walks right on your doorstep. Ideal for those with dogs.
The apartment "The Nest" is very tastefully and high-quality furnished. The owners live in the same house and are very friendly and helpful. The equipment is complete and there is very little missing, as a continental European maybe a coffee machine, but that's how it is in England. The surroundings are very beautiful, especially the Hastings Country Park is only a few minutes walk away, so that our dog also had fun. We have seen a lot: Brighton, Birling Gap, Beachy Head and Hastings etc. are all within easy reach and yet driving on the "wrong" side is not so bad. All in all a very nice...more
Beautifully furnished extremely comfortable and very well equipped cottage. Great location Highly recommend.
Well placed for visiting family. Comfortable place to stay Enjoyed the eggs for breakfast. Everything we needed
We have been coming to this cottage for the last 15 years and it is always a home from home to us . The owners are very warm and helpful and the welcome pack they provide when you arrive is outstanding and most appreciated. The cottage is well equipped should you need the washing machine, tumble drier etc and is ideally located for visits to Brighton , Arundel , Eastbourne and Hastings. Locally Lewes Town centre is worth a visit if you are interested in Antiques , collectables etc there is the Flea Market and a couple of Antique shops. Both my partner and I thought that the apartment was wonderful. We both enjoyed staying there. It is very well laid out.
An excellent week at this lovely cottage. We used it as a base whilst walking the South Downs Way.Very peaceful and quiet and the owners were extremely helpful.
All ok and service appreciated though extracting key from key safe was not easy to do but we figured it out with some help. Thanks
Set down a mile from the main road and surrounded by fields, a lovely warm cottage, ideal for relaxing.
Where to start with Priors Barn - probably one of the nicest, most peaceful stays we've had. The barn itself is tucked away down a winding country road within Maresfield and surrounded by huge conifers, which makes it all the more peaceful and tranquil. The amount of outside space is just right with a good sized gravel drive and an amazing decking area with a small stream running below. This was the perfect place to have a coffee/breakfast in the morning, or a BBQ in the evening. It has all the mod cons you could want, even down to an Amazon Alexa device, which was actually extremely han...more
Wonderful cottage that sleeps 10 comfortably with lots of space inside and out for a family occasion.
We spent two weeks at Selden Black. The studio was very well equipped with everything you might need. Owners were very lovely and helpful and on hand if you have any problems. We had a lovely time!
My husband and I were very happy with our stay at Calceto. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and recommended some good local restaurants and pubs. The apartment was very comfortable, clean, quiet and well-equipped. It is also conveniently located, a short walk from Arundel station and just a 5 minute walk from the centre of Arundel, which made it easy for us to explore the town. There are also some nice walks close by along the River Arun.
Great cottage that had everything we needed. Helpful owners who where there if we needed them but left us alone.
Roomy and comfortable property in a good location. Hosts very welcoming and helpful without being intrusive.
We have stayed here 8 times whilst visiting friends and family in Sussex and think of it as 'our cottage'! It is always very welcoming and in a lovely location. The only non positive I can think of is that the lane to it is quite a ride being very pot-holed but that wouldn't put us off staying again.
Lovely house, everything we needed for a comfortable and practical base for the beach and exploring the areas attractions.
A most welcoming accommodating and considerable host. Bungalow in excellent condition with everything functional and in excellent working order. We had a great nice relaxing stay. In short walking distance from some excellent South Downs walks. Brighton is an hour away; a nice country side drive especially on a rainy day. Amenities- Tesco, Sainsbury’s & Waitrose all in 3-4 miles driving distance. A very nice countryside retreat.
Great base, cosy and comfortable. Lovely welcome from the owners. Spent the week catching up with family and friends, the afternoons at Goodwood races.
This property is a beautiful retreat with wonderful woodland walks and a gorgeous garden. The property manager was incredibly helpful in welcoming us, showing us around and responding to any questions. The house is large, but cosy. The only thing that could improve it is a bigger bathtub!
Brilliant stay at Regency House. Lots of character and comfort in a great location! Great space easily catering to a large group. A little worried about parking but we all found a space just outside. Definitely recommend!
We reccomend this beautiful place in UK ! Very nice Place to spend holiday time and Ideal place for artist !
Lovely location within walking distance of everything in Arundel. The cottage was very well equipped and tastefully furnished. Beautiful views from the top bedroom. Parking tricky during the Festival, but we enjoyed joining in with lots of events.
Lovely cottage in a beautiful part of the country. Great base to explore the wonderful countryside of the South Downs.
Lovely cottage. Beautifully presented. Really homely. Beware the low ceilings. The only down side is it’s a bit noisy with the pub right next door, but the solution may be to go in the pub! The parking can also be tricky but this is outweighed by being so close to Arundel where you can walk easily everywhere. We’d happily visit again.........
Lovely place to stay very peaceful and perfect garden for our little dog. Owners very welcoming and helpful, good base for exploring the area from would definitely recommend.
We have stayed in numerous cottages all over the UK and this one rates very highly indeed. It was exactly as described in the brochure, very comfortable and very clean. The owners were both welcoming and helpful. It proved to be an ideal centre for what we wanted with the bonus of having a good number of National Trust properties within striking distance. As an added bonus the village pub was good and served excellent meals
We enjoyed our stay at Tarante. It is a comfortable and spacious flat with easy parking. Well placed for enjoying Arundel, and all the town offers. The owner was very helpful and considerate. We make regular family visits to this part is sussex and will be very happy to return to Tarante again.
It is a very peaceful place to stay Nigel our dog loves it and all the walks he has. We find it great for us and will be back again before the new year looking forward to our next visit Garry
Perfect location to get around the area. We had a lovely relaxing time at Clare’s Cottage. We were given a warm welcome by the owners and they had treated us to a lovely ‘fresh farm welcome pack’ - eggs, bacon, bread, butter and milk. The cottage had lovely soft beds and bedding. We loved stoking the fire in the evenings for extra cozy feel, although the underfloor heating was lovely and perfect temperature. Our son loved the chickens in the farm and visiting the farm shop to buy their fresh eggs. We visited the local pub lovely food - a great plateful! If you love castles (as we do) this is t...more
This cottage is in the perfect location, footpaths straight from the door across lovely farmland. Wildlife abundance, I.e. barn owl, deer and Fox. The cottage is reasonably well equipped but a basin would have been good.! Lots to do in the area, or just sit and relax with a glass of wine - perfect.
Great location.Close to places of interest. Owners of property very approachable.Helped us sort out a minor problem.
A lovely stay at echo house to celebrate a family birthday. We loved the open plan kitchen and the amazing central fire. The house was well equipped and very comfortable. We loved being able to enjoy walks from the house on both days didn’t use the car at all, thank you
Very clean, comfortable and well-provisioned cottage in great location for Rye, Dungeness and Camber Sands itself. Quiet, though with easy access to a couple of shops and pubs.
Property is good for short term stay 2 - 4 days. Cooking facilities limited and suffered problems Fine if you are eating out in the evening Stairway access difficult if you have heavy luggage Fantastic gardens and view
We picked this cottage as it was close to a meeting we had to attend. It was very handily placed for this and associated visits around Ashdown Forest. Hosts are very friendly and left us a generous welcome pack of food and drink on arrival. It is a well set out cottage which suited our party with a ground floor double room and ensuite and bedrooms upstairs with a bathroom.. There are some very low beams but this didn't detract from our stay. Sitting outside the view across the valley is so secluded and you can just hear the Bluebell Railway trains tooting as they approach Horsted Keynes...more
We had a lovely time at this neat and tidy cottage. We had everything we needed - and more - and the house is great for a family of 5 like us. Perfect location, we hope to be back!
A delightful homely cottage, clean, light and spacious and very well equipped. Would highly recommend this cottage which is ideally situated in the beautiful South Downs.
As we have traveled all over Great Britain during the last years, and have seen many cottages, we can judge the quality of a cottage within the first 30 seconds. We can be short about this cottage: excellent! - Remote and quiet location - Friendly owners - Large enough cottage for 4 grown ups. - Countryside and lots of trees, plants and flowers surrounding the cottage - Interesting places to visit close by - Perfect locations for walking - Supermarket close by - 2 Hour travel distance from Dover (if you come from abroad by car) - No WiFi though, but if that is the only minor we could...more
Wonderful in everyway. It is a beautiful location and cottage. Amazing,
We all enjoyed our stay at River cottage the location was excellent to visit several National Trust gardens , it was also a very peaceful location with no passing traffic, the added bonus was the short walk to the river which was a wildlife haven we saw barn owls on several occasions flying early evening and late morning , two badgers and deer. The walk along the river was wonderful all you could see were meadows and the South Downs we would definitely return as the property had a nice atmosphere and was light and airy.
Really lovely, cosy cottage with a friendly and helpful owner. We would definitely come back. Highly recommended.
Generally very clean and well presented, beds very comfortable, sofas not so much. Heating worked well when it was on, unfortunately arriving on a chilly October day to find out from the owner that the heating didn't come on until two hours after we arrived, so we entered the property which is quite cavernous and was quite chilly and was a bit disappointing, not very welcoming; it also unfortunately went off during the day, OK if your out but not so good if your in.The main entry door could do with some draft proofing However we enjoyed our stay and would probably return at some future date.
Nice cottage with good facilities and useful supply of food items on arrival. Suited us well (retired couple) - quiet, minor road noise sometimes (not night), sitting out area and encouraged to use garden by owner. Many pleasant walks from cottage door around the footpaths of Henfield. We enjoyed ourselves!
A very comfortable barn conversion in an excellent location for visiting places of interest around the Sussex Coast and South Downs
Third time coming and we feel very at home. Everything is looked after. Excellent housekeeper. Absolutely comfortable
What a wonderful find! Booking with the company was straightforward and staff extremely helpful. The cottage was gorgeous. Clean, stylish and comfortable. Close to the town centre, a matter of minutes, made our stay accessible to all the amenities. All the pubs are dog friendly, a bonus, and the food served was lovely. Because of its location it meant exploring the area was easy especially if you enjoy walking. The Black Rabbit is a good walk along the river but well worth it. We came away feeling refreshed and ready to plan our next stay at the cottage. Thanks to all the staff at Amber...more
This property was beautifully located and very comfortable. It has every home comfort and appreciated the extras provided by the owner as a welcome. The setting on the outskirts of the town was stunning and very peaceful. Would definitely stay again. Highly recommended.
Two couples wanted to complete their walk of the South Downs Way from Amberley to Eastbourne, and the location of this cottage, a few minutes drive from the trail, and about the middle of the walk, was ideal. The cottage is very clean, comfortable, well-equipped and tidy, with everything we needed for our stay. In fact, there were quite a few "extras" which enhanced our stay. Not only a large and useful collection of books and maps of the local area, but thoughtful touches like the welcome pack of wine, coffee and biscuits to help us settle in. The village has decent shops and faciliti...more
Really lovely cottage. Owners provided great information on Rye & where to go, what to see as well as tea, coffee and welcome hamper.
We stayed there for the second time at this lovely place.Everything was very cosy and personal, one felt welcome and warmly invited.Everything you need is there-including books-which I need and read.English at its best.-one felt cared for! Best stay in this area! many thanks Brigtte
Lionel met us on arrival, told us what we needed to know and then left us to it. Perfect. The cottage is lovely and was really clean. There's plenty to do near by. We had a great time and would like to go back.
Harbinger's large, airy living space with its Eames armchairs, its B&O tv and beautifully designed log burner make relaxing, after enjoying the many delights of the South Downs, a real pleasure. The property is placed within easy reach of the many seaside resorts, not to mention Petworth, Arundel, Chichester, Goodwood etc. There is so much to see and do that I found that a week is no where near long enough to fully appreciate this astounding area.
We had a very pleasant stay in this flat overlooking the church and Petworth House. The location is very convenient for the shops and restaurants in Petworth and for exploring further afield. The owner made us feel very welcome and left us treats and ideas of places to visit. The flat was extremely comfortable, the only drawback is the lack of a parking space.
This cottage is excellent. Everything spotless. Beautiful garden. Is in a lovely village. Would definitely recommend a break in this cottage.
We had the most delightful stay in Martins Cottage. Though quite small, it was extremely comfortable. Well equipped and everything of good quality. As a ‘senior couple’ we did find the shower handset slightly difficult to use. Rosemary, the owner, made us so welcome and offered much helpful information. Bury, is lovely little village, and is a really good center to explore the Downs, without having to travel far. The local pub, The Squire and Horse, served lovely meals. If we ever came to this area again we would definitely stay in this charming cottage.
A lovely setting in a working farm. Great walks for our dog, lots of fresh air, and, above all, peaceful. Only a short distance from the city and a host of shops and a wide variety of interesting places to visit. We fully intend to return one day soon.
A comfortable stay and met our needs .We were made to feel very welcome. Comfortable and clean bed ensured we had a good night's sleep
WE HAD A LOVELY STAY AT IVY COTTAGE WHICH HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR A COMFORTABLE STAY. SUSAN WAS VERY HELPFUL AND ON HAND PROMPTLY TO DEAL WITH ANY ISSUES,
The cottage is extremely homely and is well-equipped. The sitting is spacious and the sofas are comfortable. We used the conservatory to dine in the evenings, as we wanted to enjoy the views and see the moon coming up. The parking is on the level and there is a good area for it. We could not fault the cottage and the views from the bedrooms are breath-taking.
This was our second stay at Apple barn. The barn is spacious, clean and very welcoming. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable. It is equipped with everything to make your stay enjoyable. Although in a rural location it is not far from the towns of Arundel and Chichester. Our hosts, Becky and Simon are only too pleased to be of help. Thank you very much for the food gifts, which were much appreciated. We look forward to visiting again in the future!
Annie and Phillip are excellent hosts and make you feel really welcome. The location of the cottage is great for exploring West Sussex and it is a only short walk into Arundel, and an event shorter walk to the station. It's close to the A27 and the railway but you don't hear any noise in the cottage from either, so don't be concerned. If you are talking a dog there is a short walk you can take through a paddock and field without going on a road. Perfect for that early morning or late afternoon stroll. The view towards Arundel from the field is lovely. The cottage is well equipped and we enjo...more
Excellent short stay accommodation, very hospitable friendly accommodating owners. Easy access to the property and well suited for travellers to the Sussex downs and the cities of Chichester and Guildford. Unpretentious but unique property of good value.
We had a very warm welcome from the owners of Roo Cottage and it is in a beautiful, quiet setting. The cottage had most things you would need, the kitchen was well equipped, the wi fi worked well and the bed was big and very comfortable. We found it an excellent base from which to explore. There are lots of stately homes, gardens, the seaside and pretty market towns near by. We enjoyed our stay very much!
There was nowhere to store food, other than the fridge, and a lack of cooking pots. However, we did enjoy our stay and will be happy to return.
Thank you for our wonderful stay in the enchanting, historical Lavendar Cottage. It has a happy family feel about it and sitting in the sun trap patio relaxing with a book was just perfect. Butterflies and bees busying themselves around the well kept, thoughtfully designed garden was quite therapeutic. Then the conservatory which was just brilliant when the breeze was just a bit chillier. The entrance into the utility room was just ideal, we so wish we had this at home. We fell in love with Lavendar Cottage and the fascinating village it resides in, a step back in time with it's quaint shops,...more
It was a wonderful place for a family gathering. Excellently located to picturesque Rye and Camber Sands. It had wonderful views across fields which made for a peaceful setting. It had all the requirements for a lovely relaxing stay with plenty of space for all the family to enjoy.
Double bed uncomfortable and a spring poked through the mattress which could have caused injury. No facilities for drying washing indoors, only a rotary dryer behind garages enclosed by walls so little sunlight or breeze to dry washing. A clothes airer would have been most useful. Double room has no mirror or anywhere to sit to dry hair, apply makeup, etc. Twin room has no hanging space, our daughter had to share our wardrobe, which wasn’t ideal. Single room has no mirror for hairdrying etc, very important for a teenager. No shelf space in en-suite bathroom or in shower, which meant bending do...more
Rosings was a perfect choice for a Long weekend stay in West Sussex . It is wonderfully positioned and equipped , in a very peaceful and picturesque setting. The church nearby and the River Arun provide great walks and views from the doorstep. The location is also perfect for exploring the Sussex Coast and Brighton. We were delighted with our stay, and Rosings cottage in particular. A warm and romantic cottage to return to after a long day .
We had the best week at Shepards Cottage. The setting is perfect, to the front of the cottage is the village and to the back the view of the South Downs and the green fields. The bed was very comfortable and the new huge TV was perfect for us. Loved sitting in the conservatory in the evening. We would highly recommend a stay at Shepards Cottage when visiting the area.
A well equipped and comfortable base in the heart of Hastings Old Town, this is a ground floor flat of a five storey town house, just yards from the house used in Foyle's War. There is a small terrace out front to enjoy a view over the Old Town and a courtyard out the back, dominated by the cliff edge but cosy nonetheless. There is no parking nearby, but you have to expect that in a tightly packed old town. Clothes in the cupboard became damp, perhaps difficult to avoid in a house tight up against a cliff. It's a bit confusing that the nameboard by the door (Garden Flat) is different from the ...more
The cottage is a great base for attractions in Sussex by car. Lots of room for a large group and everything you need for a self catering stay. However the cottage needs a little attention we were unable to use the garden chairs as in disrepair, one room had a half built bed and one other had slats that were not in place which meant my husband slept the first night on a slant. The microwave has seen better days and probably unsafe to use. The TV in the front living room was not plugged in and the lead was not long enough for the nearest plug which was disappointing with such a large group. Th...more
Very disappointed with this property located in a family compound where guests needs were very much secondary. Heating not on when we arrived and none in the bathroom at first until we asked the owner to check and it was adjusted but this should have been done beforehand. There were no instructions on how to regulate the temperature. Mattress was well past its due date to be changed. Insufficient noise barrier between property and adjacent garage and pool area where children played very noisily. Informed that someone left for work at 5.15 every morning and started car in garage ri...more
A very short walk to the sea, fresh seafood, comfortable cottage - very cosy and sea-sidey. A very cosy and sea-sidey cottage only a few minutes stroll from the beach and seafood vendors. The accommodation was comfortable and clean. We were a party of three so had ample space, but I do not think it would be suitable for 6 adults (only 1 bathroom/toilet).
The cottage was clean, modern & mostly comfortable. Poor lighting in the living area especially nighttime. Bed in the main bedroom was so close to the floor difficult to get in & out of. If an elderly person had been staying they would have found it awkward. Needs new mattress. We felt the kitchen needed more equipment...cups, mugs, cutlery. If there had been more of us staying we would have run out of things after every meal. Good spot for visiting Lewes, coast, NT properties, Charleston & Monks House. There was road noise but as we had a fan going at night....it was warm...we didn't real...more
We had a wonderful stay at the cottage for our daughters wedding at Slaugham Place. It was in the perfect location and was the perfect layout and size for our purpose. We entertained some wedding guests from the hotel and had enough room for all the bridesmaids and bride to get ready. Unfortunately there are a few issues that marred our stay. The bathroom and ensuite were in a very poor state, with cracked and mismatched tiles and black mound around the grout and edges of the shower tray and bath. The shower controls come away from the unit and are extremely difficult to use. Both bathrooms ar...more
We had a great time at the Farthings for a late summer getaway. The property is in a fantastic location near to West Wittering beach. The pool and games room are hidden gems in the cottage and we enjoyed the garden and outdoor living.
Cosy historic cottage just inside the Landgate. Well priced for peak times. Garden was very well used by us. We had a great time.
We had a very enjoyable stay at House on the Brooks. The layout was very good to accommodate our party.
We stayed at Oak House over the Easter weekend, it was perfect. Oak House is a gorgeous house and perfect for our family gathering. We were welcomed by a basket of goodies which was lovely. Great location for exploring Rye town and the surrounding areas. We cycled down to Camber Sands and Rye harbour with the kids. Will visit again. Thank you John
We had a great time at Shannon cottage. It’s a beautiful little cottage, and perfect for a couples get away. The cottage is in great condition and the bed was lovely and so comfy. The walks over the local downs and to towns nearby were gorgeous and Telscombe is a lovely little village. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! I only have two tips for future guests...firstly the smoke detectors are super sensitive (not a terrible thing, nice and safe, but they would go off as soon as we used the oven or toaster), so make sure you use the extractor fan and window before doing any cooking. Also, some o...more
Very friendly and helpfull owners Plenty of room in the Shed. Needed an intensive cleaning after weeks of renting
After busy Londen we (family with two adolescent children) wanted a couple of quiet days in the country. In France Cottage we found what we were looking for and more. The cottage has everything you need (dishwasher, washingmachine, oven, microwave etc etc) and lots of character. Proprietor Sara is a wonderful host, who told us much about the history of Patching and surroundings. Gave us good tips as well, i.e for swimming and visiting a bizarre church nearby, where a local artist has copied the Sixtine Chapel! Really special. Patching is lovely, we had some great walks there. Sara makes you fe...more
This was our 10th stay at Cathedral View and it really is like a second home. Great location in the heart of old Arundel and very quiet with private little garden. Can’t wait for our next visit.
We had a 4 night break with friends (and the dog). We were all delighted with the standard of the cottage which is very well equipped and in an excellent location for visiting the local area.
We were an adult party of five (three generations of one family, plus dog). We stayed for most of a week and used the property as a base for beach walks and visits to sites such as Bodiam Castle, Rye Harbour and the Kent & East Sussex Steam Railway. On arrival there was a lovely cake, cookies and local apple juice waiting for us which was a nice touch, and more than made up for the fact the previous visitors had used all the nespresso capsules! It is very close to the beach (if you don’t mind a scramble over the dunes just 5 mins) and the Owl pub. Parking is challenging as the spac...more
A lovely house by the sea with garden and open fireplace. Very light and comfortable. Great for quiet, relaxing break away from the city.
The interior decoration and kitchen equipment provided at this cottage far exceeds our normal expectation of a rental property. The garden is lovely and the houses' location is a great base from where to explore West Sussex. A couple of grips then that are disappointing for such a stylish property. The towels provided are pocket handkerchief size; quite a few of the light bulbs needed replacing and the baking trays were rather rusty.
Lovely place, shame stairs were steep and bedroom window had 1 of its handle broken. Location meant easy access to town which was great as it rained the whole time. Parking was ok but a challenge on market day.
We booked Little House as it was near our son's home, we live in Cornwall and our other children live in Essex and Hong Kong. We all wanted to be together for Christmas and so the location was ideal. It was spacious downstairs with two bedrooms and a bathroom all of a good size and a further ensuite bedroom upstairs (couldn't work the heating upstairs so it tended to be cold). The open plan kitchen and living room allowed a very sociable space. The games room is a great addition when you have a lot of people around and is equipped with a table tennis equipment and a few board games. Al...more
One of the best showers we've come across in a cottage. A great kitchen too. The TV in each room and Wifi available were also nice touches. The customer service was very friendly and helpful, when we had questions there was always someone available. The location next to Fishers Farm Park, plus nearby pubs and towns was perfect for our family.
A warm welcoming house. The position is ideal for us due to easy access to the coast and numerous walks in the countryside. The cottage has all the facilities we require and we have enjoyed all our visits.
What a find. Small but beautifully formed and in a location almost to die for. A walkers / dog owners paradise; clean and tastefully renovated; well equipped kitchen; good shower over bath. It suited us and our puppy as we used second bedroom for our clothes. Go there now!!!
Stunning house a real cosy family home to enjoy in the beautiful countryside with the most unbelievable enormous swimming pool.
Unfortunately for our party, it rained every day of the week - The Studio is definitely a place for holidaying in warmer weather. I can certainly imagine that with some heat and sunshine it would be lovely to sit outside on the wooden decks or down by the summerhouse. In the spring and summer the grounds would be lovely - but this was not the case for us. The wooden decking was slippery - and certainly we wouldn't have gone onto the upstairs balcony where the wood was rotten! Fortunately the Aga through out some welcome heat and was a joy to cook on - and I appreciated the various store-cu...more
Quite comfortable and clean. In my experience overpriced compared to other properties we stayed at. Good base.
Stayed here for 10 days in August, this apartment is in need of updating . It is advertised as wheelchair accessible which it is to enter . The bathroom consists of a bath with overhead shower. Most people in a wheelchair would find it difficult to get in and out of a bath , a walk in shower would be a big improvement. There were not enough towels provided for five people and the one`s that were there smelled musty as if they had been stored for a long time . Could not fault the agent who was quick to provide some more clean towels for us. All things considered would not stay in this apartment...more
Saxons was in a pleasant location and there was a nice patio area to sit outside on the whole the rooms were clean and comfortable. However I felt bedding and towels had been well used/washed and the towels particularly were 'thin' and needed renewing.
On driving down the narrow lane to the property we were looking forward to our stay, however on entering the property this quickly changed. The property internally requires a complete update and deep clean. Such a shame as this property could be stunning.
The hosts were lovely and very helpful. We loved the cottage and it was plenty big enough (despite other reviews) for two of us and we have definitely stayed in more than a few smaller places! The fact that the (large and bright) bedroom was separate and the sitting room area was upstairs made it more like a cottage than a studio. The outside area to sit with the friendly chickens and have breakfast/drink tea or wine and breathe in the countryside peace was wonderful! It was so quiet too with owls gently hooting at night and we slept like babies. Perfect location for plenty of walking too.
We were delighted with our stay at the apartment. The location was perfect, and everything was spotlessly clean and looked brand new. The beds were very comfortable & the kitchen very well appointed. I loved my stay here - all the little touches made it feel like a home and not a holiday let, and my better half loved the smart TV. Would certainly try to book again next time we visit the area, which will hopefully be soon as we now have family relocated there. Thank you.
Lovely quirky looking interior however we didn't sleep very well through the whole stay. First night we tried the steps up to mezimen bedroom but the noise from the fridge freezer which is so very close starting up all night was too much so we tried making up the sofa bed for the rest of the stay but that wasn't very comfy on one side so apart from lack of sleep we did enjoy the surroundings and the quiet privacy that The Well House has to offer.
We spent 6 days at the end of October at Beach Reach. 4 adults and 2 children. The location is fantastic and even in October, access to the beach from the back door is fantastic. Waking up in the 1st floor bedroom to the amazing view is a real treat. There is loads to do in the area and we can highly recommend the English Heritage sites of Battle Abbey and Dover Castle as well as the fantastic bike tracks around Bedgebury Pinetum. The house had everything we needed and was a comfortable and cozy retreat each evening. Having a real fire was a treat. The only observation I would make is that ...more
Good except we found the bed very hard: key for front door mortice lock erratic: stairs not easy to negotiate.
Cosy, comfortable little cottage in an excellent location for a dog friendly break.Very quiet and fantastic walks nearby
Modern house well equipped. Shame about the limited parking. In general house style suits only 2 adults and kids due to only one shower and small kitchen/dining area. Office/lounge extension was a plus.
