We had a very comfortable stay in this quirky, well-equipped cottage in the centre of town. Thank you
A unique property full of character, hosts Roger and Heather went above and beyond to make us welcome. The area has a lot to offer and we were sorry our stay was so short. Recommended.
We rented the week before xmas, great surpise and welcoming for our two kids, xmas tree and decorations, the kids thought santa had come early with all the toys available in the house. Excellent location within 10mins to the town centre, co-op around the corner for a 2min walk for anything you need. The house was very well presented, fully kitted kitchen with all utensils supplied that you need, including for kids. The owners Alex and Kate left us be, but were easy to contact by phone for any questions and very helpful in welcoming us to their property with regards to questions etc prior to ou...more
Everything about the Oast is perfect. It looked good online but that expectation was surpassed on arrival. Warm, comfortable and homely - all done with some aplomb to an extremely high spec. A delicious corner of Sussex - we’ll be back!
We picked Dairy Cottage in Burley for location and advertised info .on website. We found the cottage to be very clean and well looked after. The owners were very welcoming and happy to give any help we needed about the area.
The cottage we stayed in was just as it was advertised, it was very well equiped, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The hosts were very attentive with just the right level of contact while we were staying there, the location is very good, just a few minuets from the shops and beaches, The cream tea on arrival is a very nice touch. If we travel in that area again we would definitely stay there again.
The owner was very pleasant and helpful, we found the accommodation very comfortable and had everything we needed and also exceptionally clean. It is in a good location and there are plenty of Places of Interest nearby to visit.
Perfect accommodation in a perfect location. The accommodation was a perfect base for sightseeing in the area. We visited Battle Abbey,Herstmonceux Castle,Eastbourne,Bexhill and Middle Farm. The owner was very welcoming. The visitor's book was a testament to the accommodation and the owner with the numbers of people making returned visits.
Loved the setting and the view from the house, the walks fantastic. The beds and linen were really the best quality and made it a luxury break. Bathroom was superb There was slow drainage from the walk-in shower (just to alert you) Really would recommend and already have done so
Warm welcome on arrival with fresh homemade cakes on the table in the kitchen. The owners and staff were very kind and helpful throughout my stay. Plenty to do and see and well located for visits out. I definitely want to go back it’s such a good place to be. Many thanks to Mandy persuading me to see the animals even though I had my dog with me, just loved it. Thank you everyone.
Beautiful straw house in a beautiful surrounding. Our dog loved it walks are amazing. Spent Christmas week here would highly recommended it. The owners are lovely very helpfully. It is a working farm and if you ask the owners you can look around the farm. Would love to visit. Again.
We spent 5 wonderful days in little willow. The house was really well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The welcome basket was a lovely surprise, and so nice to have tea, coffee and toiletries provided. The location was quiet yet close to town. Our only comment was the 2 flights of stairs - fine for us but might be an issue for a family with young children or heavy bags. Highly recommended!
The Reading Rooms was very well equipped with excellent attention to cleanliness. The owners have respectfully kept the buildings charm with touches linking to it's past. A peaceful village location with a local shop. post office, a good cafe and two pubs. There are fantastic walks on the doorstep around Wisborough Green with other villages, towns within short driving distance for shopping and visits. We would certainly stay again and would not hesitate recommending to friends and family.
We have never booked through Amberley House Cottages before but had a great experience from start to finish . Oak Cottage is in a lovely location even though the weather wasn't at it's best . The cottage is very well equipped & laid out & was lovely & clean & warm which was very welcome. Would definitely book again & would be happy to recommend to anyone.
This was our second visit and won’t be our last. Surrounded by beautiful countryside this cottage is perfect if you like comfort and style.
We cannot recommend Beacon Cottage highly enough. The hosts are wonderful. The cottage is pristine. The location is ideal for exploring the area. Do not hesitate to make a booking.
We had been travelling all over Scotland and England and The Barn at Tillington was by far our favourite. It was immaculately clean, spacious, and well equipped. It is situated perfectly for day trips to the south coast, castles, museums, walks in the South Downs and walking distance to Petworth House and the village. We would definitely recommmend this property to our friends.
We had a comfortable week in the Lodge in a cosy atmosphere. Only one remark: the third bedroom is very tiny, suitable for a little child Henk Rebel, the Netherlands
Great little property that was not very little. Whilst only set up for two, with just the one bedroom, there was plenty of room for us and it felt almost spacious. Very tastefully fitted out with decent quality furniture and an excellent bed. Pippa was a delightful host and made us very welcome. Location good in a lovely part of the country. We had a great week.
We were so happy. Absolutely everything we wanted. Wir waren absolut glücklich über unsere Wahl. Ein wunderschönes Ferienhaus, die Terrasse sehr hübsch, super war, dass unsere Kinder den Garten des Vermieters mitbenutzen durften.
Eve’s cottage is a beautiful living space easily accommodating 4 Adults and 2 children. The home had a warm light and airy feeling. The decor was beautiful and the layout was very sociable. All the comforts of home were supplied and it cater for all our needs. The location was brilliant and Arundel itself is a fabulous place to stay with abundance of restaurants, pubs and shops. Plus you have a Castle and Cathedral as your backdrop and for adventure a wetlands centre and beach nearby. We had a brilliant time Glenys
Was lovely relaxing quiet property set in a great location with easy access to the beautiful New forest, and also close to the lovely town of Lymington. Great pub(East End Arms) nearby and very friendly owners who just let you just enjoy their lovely cottage. Will be back.
We were warmly welcomed by Ann and her husband. They had explained everything we needed to know about the cottage and made sure we would feel comfortable. The fridge was, to our surprise, filled with lovely groceries!!! We will certainly be back for another visit to the cottage and the country, we have had a wonderful weekstay!
What a superb find with Bay Tree Cottage. Clean, modern and very comfortable. It had everything you could need. Great location for walking the South Downs. You have your own car parking space, your own separate entrance and a patio to sit in if needed. Once inside it has a lovely feel. Light and airy. The kitchen is well equipped with tasteful gadgets, no cheap stuff here. The bed was lovely and comfortable and the bathroom was modern with a walk in shower. Just lovely. I will definitely go back as I feel it is value for money and a great find.
Very comfortable place very high standard. Peaceful village but all local amenities. Highly recommended.
Ideal accommodation for a couple in one of our favourite areas. as we are members of The Romney Marshes Historic Churches Trust. We will be back!
Absolutely loved The Cow Hide, had a wonderful and peaceful stay surrounded by beautiful countryside. Caroline was welcoming and around if we needed anything, yet we had a lot of privacy. It is a great location for exploring Arundel and its surroundings, without being in the sometimes busy centre. Lovely sunset views from the outside patio area, lots of bird song, cows passing by to say hello - it is a place for relaxing and watching nature go by. Appreciated the breakfast items Caroline provided. The village is great too for a wander, and the pub is excellent.
We had a very enjoyable stay in the cottage. High standard, and everything you would need for a comfortable and relaxing break. We received a warm welcome from the owner, and some very helpful information on the surrounding area. We plan to stay again.
Very nice decorated. Good location, close to the walks of the South Down Way. Very comfortable. Quiet place. Very friendly dog! Nice welcome hamper.
The excellent cottage in a stunning location provided a very relaxing break. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The South Downs is a lovely walking area, with lots to do and places to visit. The coast is also nearby. There was a pub within easy walking distance serving very good food. We shall certainly return.
A first time visit to this delightful little cottage in a beautiful part of West Sussex. The cottage was very warm and welcoming when we arrived on a cold December day. The owner had dressed the cottage with a Christmas tree and a few decorations including a holly wreath on the door and we immediately felt happy to be in such a special little cottage. The cottage was very clean and very well equipped with everything we needed to enjoy our Christmas break in comfort. The owner had provided extra goodies which we really appreciated. The location of the cottage is excellent being just a 10 m...more
We had a very comfortable stay in the beautifully converted barn which had pleanty of room and everything you need for a relaxing break. The views across the Amberley Wildbrooks were amazing, as was the variety of birds. We heard the cuckoo every day which was a rare treat. We would have like a larger Super King size bed. That would have made the barn perfect!
Very stylish house, great interior, design bathrooms, very clean and in a superb location right across the Arundel castle site.
A lovely and tranquil home conveniently located in the centre of Petworth. Very clean and modern, with a traditional charm.
A very well equiped apartment which was comfortable and clean. Well positioned for seafront and shops. A wide range of resteraunts to suit all tastes within easy walking distance. Parking was ok but could be a little aukward at busy times like the airshow. A very considerate welcome pack on arrival along with a very useful personal greeting. Overall a great stay in an apartment that I would recommend.
Great house with nice outside space. Very close walk to two pubs which serve food. An excellent butchers and a handy local shop. Great walks from the village.
We stayed at The Old Surgery for a week, and it wasnt long enough. It is very comfortable and well equipped, with excellent hosts who made us fell very welcome. There is Lots to see and do in the area. We look forward to a return visit.
We found the Cottage to be warm, comfortable and very well situated for walks on the downs and along the coast. The owners were on site and available to offer advice on the locality.
Everything about Bluebells was perfect. It is located in a peaceful position, yet within a short car ride to the very well stocked Jempsons supermarket and just 15 mins to the beautiful town of Rye. The owner's woods and lakes are lovely to explore. There is plenty of wildlife to enjoy. The house itself is very comfortable and well-equipped. The beds are comfortable and there is plenty of room. The owner, Maria, was on hand to ensure we had everything we needed, but was very unobstrusive. We have already recommended Bluebells to friends and family.
We had a wonderful time at the Cottage. It’s clean, fully equipped, warm and very welcoming. The gardens, chickens and play area are a real treat for the children (and adults) and Ricky and Marilyn are amazing.
We had a great time. There were 8 adults and there was plenty of room for us all. The bedrooms were a nice size and beds very comfortable. The kitchen was nice and with many pots, pans and crockery. It had everything we could possible need, as well as a nice bottle of bubbly and a pint of milk which was such a nice touch. The house was in a great location and spotlessly clean.I would stay here again, and thoroughly recommend it. I wish we could have stayed a little longer.
This apartment was great for 2 people. Plenty of space and good facilities. It was nice to have your own car parking space.
We (Family with two children) spent our Easter Holiday at Rose Cottage. Pat provided us with a warm welcome after a long journey on our arrival day. The cottage is very cosy and excellent equipped with all interior you need for your stay. In special the AGA oven was a new experience for us. On our second day, my daughter backed fresh Scones for us. The location of the cottage is within the South Downs national park. If you want a quiet place to relay, this is the place to be. There are some very good pubs nearby. One is in walking distance (The Lickfold Inn) and two others (The Red Lion) /...more
Our 5th Stay at Tail End Cottage never disappoints, will be back again. Perfect Location, cottage and amenities.
On arriving I was shocked, I knew the house would be beautiful but it was far beyond my expectations! We had fabulous weather so spent alot of time in the charming pool. The gardens are gorgeous with speaking hills for miles and the house interia is full of amazing art. The perfect house for a large group with lovely kitchen and lots of compfy nooks to relax in. Could not have enjoyed our stay more, would love to come back! X
An excellent base, roomy and well laid out. An ideal spot for walking, cycling and chilling out. Road access to Maidstone or south to the coast is good and generally trouble-free. Headcorn the next small village is quaint and worth visiting for shopping and eating.
In the years of booking holiday cottages, this was the first time, that both owner and agency went beyond the call of duty to accommodate a last minute request. An exemplary service which only made our stay more memorable, as it had simply not lost its human touch. I would highly recommend Amberley and 76 The Mint. Perfect spot to unwind and enjoy all that Rye has to offer on your doorstop. Beds and linen are superior for a holiday let, leaving you feeling very comfortable indeed. Much appreciated.
Tarante had everything we want from short-break self-catering accommodation; it was clean and comfy, quiet and cosy. Perhaps more importantly it was within easy walking distance of the town centre with its great bars and restaurants, and had parking. The owner was friendly and helpful (the milk was a nice touch, so we could have a much-needed cup of tea on arrival) and every detail seemed to have been thought of in the accommodation. The garden was available to us and it was nice to have an early morning coffee in the sunshine on the decking. Highly recommended.
We had a lovely week, the cottage was lovely, the kitchen well fitted and the welcome pack very well received. Hilary was very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday
The cottage was lovely, big enough for us and our three children. It was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was really well stocked, all the home comforts you need on a self catering holiday. It was a real home away from home, we had a brilliant time and hopefully will be back next year!
The Old Granary offers everything ( and more) you want for a holiday with four generations! Private, spacious, high standard, lovely envoriment, homely and well equiped! We would love to return!
Lovely short break in well equipped, comfortable & spacious cottage with great walks from the door. Very helpful owner Thank you
We had a lovely holiday staying at Oak Grove. The accommodation was excellent and larger than it looks on the photos online. Everything had been thought of - there was washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and washing machine detergent all provided. There are many interesting walks from the house and good nearby places to eat. We particularly liked the Red Lion pub. The owner even posted on free of charge some items that we accidentally left at the property, which is really appreciated. Thanks.
This was our first stay in Seaford and at Lambles - and my wife and I look forward to our next stay there. Lambles is a lovely, spacious and very well appointed and equipped holiday cottage (the photos don't do it full justice in our opinion) and we were very comfortable there indeed. Lesley and Peter made us most welcome; they were on hand should we have needed advice or assistance (we didn't) but unobtrusively so. A really relaxing holiday there. Good place to stay too for those who are not so young as they once were (like us!), all on the one level inside with no trip hazards and only a sma...more
This was great for me and the dog, good walks from the front door, two good dog friendly pubs within walking distance and enough shops in the village that you don't need to go anywhere else (although you would want to because there are lots of interesting places near enough to visit.
Swan Cottage is a great location for the sights of Arundel and the surrounding district and only a short pleasant walk into the town in the evening to visiting the variety of eateries and watering holes. The cottage was a warm retreat from the not so clement weather and was amply supplied with home appliances and the comforts of home for cosy nights in. The beds were incredibly comfortable and cosy.
A really lovely house. Our host had thought of everything with welcoming touches. So clean and comfortable and spacious that we were happy to relax there but it was also so very handy for the town. Loved all the cafes, restaurants/pubs in Rye. It was very relaxing and quiet with lovely wildlife in the garden. Thank you, we will be back...
We've stayed here several years in March,(and reviewed) and there's not much to add! Croft cottage remains a great property in all ways. Position, condition, maintenance -- all good. Obviously a fair bit of money's been spent since we last stayed, and it shows. Still highly recommended, especially if 'no pets' is as important to you as it is to us!
The Apartment was exactly as described on website and supplied details/ photographs. Close to the station.
We had a nice time here - we came for a family event in the area. The owner and the farmers were very friendly. The place is well equipped, quiet and nicely furnished. Dishwasher, full sized oven, microwave, couple of TVs and fridge. Internet access worked fine too. Two bathrooms (one a shower room and one with a proper bath) very useful for two people and two kids. We walked a few footpaths and visited the Queen's Head (recommended but not that cheap) in West Chiltington. You can easily walk there on public footpaths and bridleways (takes 45 mins) avoiding the road - for route look for...more
We stayed at Vane Cottage for one week and found the house to be welcoming and comfortable. The owners' house is directly opposite but they were very discrete and our paths did not often cross. On our arrival there was a welcome pack which was very much appreciated. The cheese and wine were particularly good. Extra fuel was made available by the owners for the wood burning stove which was generous. Vane Cottage is ideally situated to visit several places of interest including Herstmonceux Castle and Seven Sisters. From the Visitors' Book several families appear to return to the cottag...more
Quiet restful holiday break in very pleasant surroundings. Excellent accommodation. Warm welcome from Mrs Wiseman set the tone for the holiday.
Pity no shops in the locality. We could have been warned before booking.. to make 100!xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Had a fantastic long weekend. Beautiful location with the countryside and amazing walks right on your doorstep. Ideal for those with dogs.
Our only regret about our stay in Library Cottage was that our 5 day stay was over far too soon! The hospitality of the owners was wonderful, the cottage itself is comfortable, relaxing, spotlessly clean and in a lovely location. Our sincere thanks to the owners for a memorable break.
Lovely light and airy house. Comfy beds, comfy sitting room, great garden and all very clean. Ticked all our boxes. The owners were so helpful. We asked them to mow the lawn before we went as our Pekingese can't manage long grass and they did. I asked also if they happened to have a summer duvet as I have a skin condition and find usual duvets way too hot. They provided me with a brand new one, wonderful! These two requests made so much difference to our holiday, can't thank them enough. Lovely area lots to see. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again if we holiday in Sussex anoth...more
Fabulous location, relaxing, homely, comfortable property. On arrival, a replenishing snack of fresh rolls, home-made jam, fresh coffee, and milk, with fresh flowers reflect the personal/genuine hosts/owners, who do all they can to make your break more enjoyable.
Both my partner and I thought that the apartment was wonderful. We both enjoyed staying there. It is very well laid out.
Helpful friendly owners. Stay in cottages about 2 or 3 times a year. beautiful gardens we had access to. nice welcome pack. good provision of towels. one toilet roll. personal preference for feather/down quilt. Everything else very good.
It was our first "full" Christmas in our favourite town in England and we could not have found a better place to stay.
We enjoyed a beautiful week at Taylor's Copse Cottage. Penny and Philip gave us a warm welcome and we were happy with a lovely welcome filling of the fridge including very fresh eggs from the farm's chicken. All the rooms were decorated with lovely fresh garden flowers. Wonderful. We so much enjoyed the beautiful walls from the doorstep including a bluebell wood that was rich of floral species including a great number of orchids. The owners gave us helpful hints to find lovely places. All in all a wonderful place and we would love to return. Thank you to Penny and Philip.
We stayed in Priors Barn over Christmas with our two dogs. Communication around booking was good. The barn itself was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. The location was great, within walking distance of a shop and a couple of pubs but very peaceful. We hope to go back again in the summer some time to make more use of the outside space. Highly recommended
Excellent spacious cottage, very well furnished and decorated. Very comfortable. Good facilities with everything you will need to self cater. Quiet location but in the centre of Rye with everything within walking distance. We had a great time and would definitely return again to Ockman cottage. Thank you for the very appreciated welcome package.
Wonderful cottage that sleeps 10 comfortably with lots of space inside and out for a family occasion.
My husband and I were very happy with our stay at Calceto. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and recommended some good local restaurants and pubs. The apartment was very comfortable, clean, quiet and well-equipped. It is also conveniently located, a short walk from Arundel station and just a 5 minute walk from the centre of Arundel, which made it easy for us to explore the town. There are also some nice walks close by along the River Arun.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage and the owners are superb hosts and very accommodating. The peace and quietness of the surrounding area are amazing and there is so much to do and explore at close proximity to the cottage.
We spent two weeks at Selden Black. The studio was very well equipped with everything you might need. Owners were very lovely and helpful and on hand if you have any problems. We had a lovely time!
Location ideal for visiting the major sites in West Sussex, and in particular close to Chichester. A very quiet setting, with an extensive garden, which was wild rather than manicured - ideal for sitting out in the sun. House very well equipped, with excellent accommodation for four people (three bathrooms !!). Hosts very welcoming and helpful. A very good holiday base.
Second visit to this location and enjoyed our stay just as much. The location is good for us visiting relatives in Bognor Regis, as well as a base for wider travel to e.g. Portsmouth, Brighton. Chichester station is a short drive and offers ample parking for a reasonable daily rate. The accommodation is clean, spacious and very quiet. All the facilities are in good working order and there is plenty of crockery and utensils. It is next to a working arable farm but we've never encountered any very early or late goings on. If I had one criticism it's that the blinds in the master bedroom offer l...more
Absolutely lovely house, spacious and great decor. So close to the beach. Only criticism was that the glass door to the balcony in the twin room could've done with a bind/curtain - the children woke up so early - less daylight might have helped!
Comfortable cottage, well equipped, and ideally placed for visiting Arundel and surrounding attractions. Interesting building, lovely garden - unable to take advantage of that owing to cold weather, but I can see it would be a huge bonus in hot weather. Some outside noise from traffic, but offset by the advantage of having the co-op, fish and chip shop and cash point all so handy. Would certainly stay here again if visiting Sussex.
Brilliant stay at Regency House. Lots of character and comfort in a great location! Great space easily catering to a large group. A little worried about parking but we all found a space just outside. Definitely recommend!
This was our second time at Pig Barn, the location is exceptional. The accommodate is top notch and we always receive a warm welcome. I would highly recommend this location
We thoroughly enjoyed our extended stay at the Nest, a perfect location for exploring Hastings Country Park with our dog, Bailey - just a few minutes walk from the front door! The Nest is very clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything you need to cook, entertain and relax! The owners, Sherry and Colin were very friendly and helpful. We hope to return next year!
The Granary is a fabulous place to stay - located on farmland away from the hubbub but in easy walking distance of the centre of Cuckfield village. Everything was perfect - the beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed to cater for our family of four. Wouldcteturm in a heartbeat.
Old Orchard is a very well appointed property in a lovely location, close to the South Downs and the River Arun, with walking options very easily available from the front door! With everything on one floor and 2 bathrooms, it was the perfect place for my 83-year old mother and I to spend Christmas. There's a log burner in the lounge, and an excellent heating and hot water system. The furnishings and décor are very appealing, and the owner could not have been more welcoming, considerate and helpful.
A fantastic welcome to the property for our family Christmas; wreath on the door, tasteful decorations in the lounge and a Christmas tree complete with lights and decorations in the dining room. The property was well maintained, spotlessly clean and tidy, generously equipped, comfortable and homely.
Took my elderly parents for a few days. They loved it. Nice and bright cottage. Very well equipped. Comfortable beds and everywhere very clean. Host was lovely and made sure we had everything. Location great for visiting places. Only 10 min drive to the seafront. Would definitely recommend.
Cottage is compact but comfortable, clean & cosy.Location is good, nice walk into Arundel, five stars☆
We simply loved our stay at Saltmarsh Cottage. The house is a short walk from the delightful dunes of Camber Sands, hidden away at the end of a cul-de-sac in an attractive development of houses that serve largely as holiday homes. While being so close to the beach and the busy car park (at least busy at peak times) the location is completely quiet. At night we heard only the gulls and the bleeting of the sheep in the adjacent fields. Even in daytime we didn't hear much more than that. We were welcomed in the house with a basket of local goodies and warm words by mail from the owners who als...more
The property filled all our needs and we were made to feel most welcome. This was a long term stay and we were made to feel as if it were our home away from home during the stay.
We really enjoyed the stay. It's a beautiful house and grounds with an amazing woodland. The one thing that would have enhanced it would have been some means of fire outside - a chimenea or fire pit or something.
We had a lovely time. The first surprise was the thoughtful and generous welcome pack. Enjoy the delicious home-made biscuits with a cup of tea in your own private courtyard garden. The second surprise was the charming and picturesque setting in the heart of historical Henfield: an ideal base to explore the Sussex countryside and the South Downs. The cottage has everything you need for a long or short stay and the village shops are a short stroll away. We can thoroughly recommend Lychgate Cottage. Clive and Elizabeth
Found this property very comfortable and attractive. We were welcomed by Valerie whomade us feel relaxed and at ease.q Nothing seemed too much trouble to her.
Beautiful cottage in a lovely location......... We all had an excellent weekend stay - homely & cosy!!
Sea Pinks is a charming old cottage that has been tastefully decorated and furnished and with prety gardens in the front and back. The quiet shingle beach with its RNLI lifeboat station and fishing boats is just a 5 minute walk away; and Selsey village is 5 minutes by car. Between the cottage and beach is a pub/diner that serves marvellous fish and chips as part of its extensive menu. The sea paths are lovely for walking and there is plenty to do further afield: the Pagham Harbour Nature reserve (10 mins by car); crazy golf for the whole family (10 minutes by car); and Chichester (20 minute...more
Spring Harbour is a great place to explore Sussex. One is on the doorstep of a vibrant county. The cottage is cosy and inviting. The owner is extremely helpful and accommodating. A very peaceful place to spend quality time in.
We really enjoyed our stay in this fabulous property with beautiful views. Very relaxing. Thank you.
The cottage is in a lovely location, 1 mile up a private lane so very peaceful. It is right next to, and at a right-angle to, the owners’ house. It is very well equipped, with a generous supply of necessities. We didn't see the lady owner even though she was at home some of the time, but Lawrence greeted us and was helpful. A major issue for us was the bed, which in our opinion was extremely hard - the only way we managed to sleep was by putting a duvet and pillows on top of the mattress and sleeping on those (thankfully we had taken our own duvet and pillows with us).
Property is good for short term stay 2 - 4 days. Cooking facilities limited and suffered problems Fine if you are eating out in the evening Stairway access difficult if you have heavy luggage Fantastic gardens and view
We enjoyed a wonderful week in this superb stable conversion which is in a lovely peaceful location. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable and the underfloor heating is excellent. Good shower and very comfy bed. This is a very dog-friendly property with a really secure garden. We walked miles from the door in the beautiful countryside of the South Downs, also Arundel and Petworth are worth a visit.
This is the second time we have stayed at the Old Town Bolthole. It IS in an ideal location as said previously. It was very cold this time (January). The heaters are good, but all grouped together meaning one end of the room is always cold. This is really going to be down to the age of the property. We decided against using the log burner as it's literally a few feet from the radiators and we didn't want the mess to clean up. The living room really is too dark for us, with 2 lamps, with low watt bulbs, we weren't able to read easily. This is part of our holiday relaxation. Please let us kno...more
We have thoroughly enjoyed our week in Truffle Cottage. It is a beautiful house full of very pretty and comfortable furniture (particularly the beds). It is very well equipped with good quality items. The welcome tray with Prosecco was extremely generous as were the extras such as bottled water and toiletries. The fresh flowers were beautiful. Chichester centre is within walking distance- so much to see and do, with good bus and train links to other interesting towns. On evenings when we didn't venture out, we had fun lighting the woodburner-very cosy and romantic. Truffle Cottage is c...more
We had a lovely time at this neat and tidy cottage. We had everything we needed - and more - and the house is great for a family of 5 like us. Perfect location, we hope to be back!
A very enjoyable stay in a super, warm and comfortable cottage in an excellent location. We really needed this break, and it did not disappoint. Very friendly and welcoming owners
A delightful homely cottage, clean, light and spacious and very well equipped. Would highly recommend this cottage which is ideally situated in the beautiful South Downs.
We had a flood at home and so needed a base for Christmas. With 2 dogs accommodation was not easy to find but River Cottage provided us with an amazing base. The cottage was situated in a perfect location for walking the dogs and close to pubs! The owners had thought of everything to make our stay perfect including decorating the cottage and providing a warm tap to wash the dogs!
A very comfortable barn conversion in an excellent location for visiting places of interest around the Sussex Coast and South Downs
The bed and linen were very comfortable, alittle luxury. Apart from banging my head on the doorways upstairs a few times, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The kitchen is well equipped. The furniture is good and the living areas very comfortable and spacious. Nice garden.
We loved this cottage - perfect for a family of four and our two children enjoyed the gardens and surrounding walks. Very well equipped, comfortable, cosy and warm in winter with the fire. Our host Clare was so kind and we appreciated her hospitality. She was very efficient and responsive to our questions before and during our stay. We would love to come back!
Lovely cottage used to explore the South Downs. Very well equipped with good standard of furnishings. Nice size for a family of 4.
This is our second time holidaying there and it was just as good as before, I've already booked for next year, it has everything you need to have a great holiday, fabulous location, comfy beds, loads of space and very dog friendly
The cottage is gorgeous - easy access to the South Downs Way, well-equipped, comfortable and a short 10 minute walk to the village store and pub (where we had an amazing meal with great service). Totally dog friendly too. A welcoming tea tray and a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge were a perfect start to a great weekend in spite of dreadful weather on the Saturday, which didn't stop us completing an invigorating 12 mile hike. We were truly sorry it was such a short visit to a charming locality and cottage.
We thoroughly enjoyed our few days at this lovely small house. The proprietor, Julian, went the extra mile to help us with a couple of small problems - many thanks again, Julian
'Idyllic' is an overused word to describe most holiday cottages but in the case of Garden Cottage would be appropriate. Believed to have been built in 1625, the owners have retained all its charm while ensuring maximum modern comfort. This is clearly a much loved home as opposed to a professional holiday 'let'. The cottage is at the heart of the delightful village of Amberley, where large numbers of cottages are still thatched; The village still boasts a thirteenth century castle, a wonderful community shop which also retials the beautiful ceramics made by the local potter, a tea room whi...more
We enjoyed a short break in order to attend an event at Glyndebourne. All the party was charmed by the blend of history and comfort to be found at Twyford Farm. It has been sensitively and imaginatively restored - preserving interesting, quirky features whilst making good use of available space and providing modern amenities. The ground floor facilities make it suitable for the less able-bodied - though it's a tight squeeze round the bed to access the wet room. We had a very enjoyable stay . The cottage although in a quite location was very central for all amenities .We were able to take country walks straight from the doorstep!
Lionel met us on arrival, told us what we needed to know and then left us to it. Perfect. The cottage is lovely and was really clean. There's plenty to do near by. We had a great time and would like to go back.
We had a pleasant stay in autumn, there are lots of places to visit in the area. We visited small villages en beautiful gardens. Saw some castles. Enjoyed it very much. There were lots of goodies when we arrived, delicious. Cooking on the Aga was new for us, but it worked very well. Bathrooms were well equipped, beds very good.
We keep returning to Weir View because we really enjoy our time there. It provides excellent accommodation in very peaceful surroundings and there is good access to main roads and public transport. Bosham harbour is nearby and is a lovely place for a walk. The cottage is well equipped and well maintained and we certainly recommend it.
Beautiful cottage and good to sit outside in sunny spot. The outside bedroom was even better than in the photographs and a very comfy real bed.
Received a very warm welcome from the owners. Comfortable cottage in a quiet location. Within walking distance of shops etc. Conveniently close to Arundel railway station for non-drivers. Wonderful riverside walks nearby.
We had a very pleasant stay in this flat overlooking the church and Petworth House. The location is very convenient for the shops and restaurants in Petworth and for exploring further afield. The owner made us feel very welcome and left us treats and ideas of places to visit. The flat was extremely comfortable, the only drawback is the lack of a parking space.
A comfortable stay and met our needs .We were made to feel very welcome. Comfortable and clean bed ensured we had a good night's sleep
Our 3rd stay at Tackleway Cottage, we love the location and the local amenities. The house is really well kitted out and suits 4 of us (children aged 5 & 7) perfectly. There is plenty of space for us all and it have everything we need. We hope to return again! The spiral stairs may make it difficult for some but they do at least free up floor space.
Excellent short stay accommodation, very hospitable friendly accommodating owners. Easy access to the property and well suited for travellers to the Sussex downs and the cities of Chichester and Guildford. Unpretentious but unique property of good value.
Good cottage for group of six women- all single beds and relaxing lounge area next to kitchen. A few maintenance niggles but nothing especially worrying so would stay again.
The house is full of charm and feels like the residents have just gone out for a stroll because it's full of art, books and music. Kitchen is well-stocked for cooking and baking, and the barbeque set made a welcome change from the Aga. Beautiful location and lush garden allowed plenty of space to stretch out and relex without getting in each other's space. The second bathroom could benefit from some modernising but the seasonal spiders didn't seem to mind! Must have a car to overcome its relative remoteness. In short, a lovely location that feels like a home, not an anonymous modern box.
WE HAD A LOVELY STAY AT IVY COTTAGE WHICH HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR A COMFORTABLE STAY. SUSAN WAS VERY HELPFUL AND ON HAND PROMPTLY TO DEAL WITH ANY ISSUES,
A very spacious and well-equipped holiday house, ideal for our New Year break. The kitchen had everything our family needed and the adjoining comfortably-furnished area was where we spent most of our time when indoors, with the separate lounge as an optional 'quiet' room. The house was warm and everyone had easy access to a bathroom. We particularly appreciated the Christmas decorations which had clearly taken someone a while to put up! Overall we were delighted with our choice and would happily return for another stay. In addition, I felt that Amberley House provided a very good level of...more
Warm & inviteing oozing comfort with extra provisions & charming hosts. Bed was great, kitchen provided plenty of utensils & goodies, & the log fire with the provision of logs completed a most enjoyable stay.
I had decided i needed a house where my 9 family members could all spend more than 3hrs (the norm) eating together on Christmas Day. Since the late 70s we'd visited RYE on days out and loved it! So it was an easy "Google" to find TOLLGATES back in the summer. I booked 5 days immediately. When we arrived on 22 December we knew we were "home". It was the best holiday ever! My middle-aged kids giggling together was priceless. My grandchildren had never before had so much indoor freedom together. And the kitchen was ideal for us with meals 24/7 I thought. THREE lounges! WE all felt at home. ...more
Large flat for two people. Close to old town up a hill . Old town has interesting shops and lots of eating places. Free parking up hill but beware of first few yards that have double yellow lines - cars parking either over or behind these lines getting daily fines. Train to Bexhill-on-Sea for a day trip - cheaper and easier than moving car
My husband and I stayed for a week with our cocker spaniel. We were met with a lovely welcome pack including home made produce which was much appreciated. The cottage was a good size for two people and the bed and the sofa were both very comfortable. The location was beautifully quiet with walks from the door in nearby woods and the cottage is well placed to explore the area. The property has been converted from a farm building and it may be that further work will be done in the future. We were disappointed to find that the enclosed garden did not adjoin the door so we could not let our d...more
Lovely llttle apartment, very clean and cosy. Really enjoyed our 8 days stay here. Location is great, pubs, restaurants and shops all within walking distance. We only recommand a guideline for turning on the heating and also on how to turn off the smokedetector, as it turned out te be very sensitive.
Excellent property, everything works, comfortable and quirky. It being winter we could not really take advantage of the outside space. Would hope to return in warmer weather to take enjoy long leisurely bbq's. Would recommend for family gatherings.
Date of stay: 19/02 - 23/02/2019 It was very much a last minute decision to get away, in fact only booked the day before and Amberley House Cottages gave us great service at such short notice, so many thanks for that Harbinger is a wonderful place to stay, peaceful, warm and very comfortable. Such lovely views sitting in the Eames chairs especially first thing in the morning. We were also blessed with great weather Our hosts and their lovely granddaughter were charming I hope that we will stay there again
A lovely little victorian house with contemporary decor. The location was excellent, and the property had everything we needed and a lovely welcome pack of goodies from the owners, along with lots of information on local attractions and places to eat. I will recommend this property to friends and family wanting to stay in the area.
Very disappointed with this property located in a family compound where guests needs were very much secondary. Heating not on when we arrived and none in the bathroom at first until we asked the owner to check and it was adjusted but this should have been done beforehand. There were no instructions on how to regulate the temperature. Mattress was well past its due date to be changed. Insufficient noise barrier between property and adjacent garage and pool area where children played very noisily. Informed that someone left for work at 5.15 every morning and started car in garage ri...more
We enjoyed a wonderful stay in this beautiful little cottage. The surrounding area was stunning. Perfectly placed for walkers, particularly if you enjoy the coast. Seven sisters country park alongside the cottage with lovely forest walks. As this is a dog friendly cottage it is perfect for holidays with your four legged friend. We were blessed with sunny weather so we had a great time and would not hesitate to revisit.
The cottage was clean, modern & mostly comfortable. Poor lighting in the living area especially nighttime. Bed in the main bedroom was so close to the floor difficult to get in & out of. If an elderly person had been staying they would have found it awkward. Needs new mattress. We felt the kitchen needed more equipment...cups, mugs, cutlery. If there had been more of us staying we would have run out of things after every meal. Good spot for visiting Lewes, coast, NT properties, Charleston & Monks House. There was road noise but as we had a fan going at night....it was warm...we didn't real...more
Nice comfortable cottage in a good location, quiet and peaceful with plenty of good walking from the doorstep and a local pub a short walk away. Lovely garden with views.
Just a free points and observations that enhance this property. TV needs to be upgraded. Shower attachment in main bathroom is unusable and needs repair Bigger fridge/freezer would be useful. This is the third holiday we’ve had at this property and we love the quiet peaceful location.
We had a wonderful stay at the cottage for our daughters wedding at Slaugham Place. It was in the perfect location and was the perfect layout and size for our purpose. We entertained some wedding guests from the hotel and had enough room for all the bridesmaids and bride to get ready. Unfortunately there are a few issues that marred our stay. The bathroom and ensuite were in a very poor state, with cracked and mismatched tiles and black mound around the grout and edges of the shower tray and bath. The shower controls come away from the unit and are extremely difficult to use. Both bathrooms ar...more
We returned to Swallowfield after 3 previous stays as we had good memories of the cottage. Everything was as before, sparkling clean, well equipped with a pleasant garden. The beds were comfortable, too. The only issues for people of ‘advancing age’ were the steep stairs, and ground floor bathroom.
We stayed at Oak House over the Easter weekend, it was perfect. Oak House is a gorgeous house and perfect for our family gathering. We were welcomed by a basket of goodies which was lovely. Great location for exploring Rye town and the surrounding areas. We cycled down to Camber Sands and Rye harbour with the kids. Will visit again. Thank you John
The Fisher Dairy provided an excellent base for our walking holiday that was set in a beautiful area. The dairy conversion was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed and we hope to return sometime in the future.
Rosings is ideally situated for walking from your doorstep in all 4 directions to explore the Arun valley , river and the South Downs. The cottage is well equipped, The small double bed was a bit narrow, being a three-quarter bed.The heating worked perfectly. The one bathroom, which had all mod cons might give problems if you are six in the cottage. We, 2 couples, enjoyed our stay very much. We can recommend a Sunday outing to Chichester with the bootsale market, lunch at the iTALIAN RESTAURANT AND Evensong at the Cathedral. A walk as indicated in the leaflet " Arundel" and a walk via Nor...more
A pretty cottage in a peaceful location. Well placed for walks on The Downs. The cottage is well equipped and had everything we needed. A mirror nearer to a power point in the bedroom would be useful as, currently, it is too far away when using a hairdryer. Heavier duty saucepans would also help as the water took a very long time to boil and the one lid in the kitchen did not fit any of the pans. However, these minor points did not mar our stay and are not meant as a criticism but are intended to be helpful.
Very friendly and helpful hosts. Wonderful place for a peaceful getaway with many places to visit nearby.
My second time in Whippingham. I have friends and relatives on IOW and the Creek is a great base from which to see them all and to have peaceful solitude when needed. It is well placed for ferry access, Newport shops , Osborne etc.
We were an adult party of five (three generations of one family, plus dog). We stayed for most of a week and used the property as a base for beach walks and visits to sites such as Bodiam Castle, Rye Harbour and the Kent & East Sussex Steam Railway. On arrival there was a lovely cake, cookies and local apple juice waiting for us which was a nice touch, and more than made up for the fact the previous visitors had used all the nespresso capsules! It is very close to the beach (if you don’t mind a scramble over the dunes just 5 mins) and the Owl pub. Parking is challenging as the spac...more
A lovely house by the sea with garden and open fireplace. Very light and comfortable. Great for quiet, relaxing break away from the city.
Only one problem. No hairdryer. No other problems.Very satisfied.Every thing was to our satisfaction.Warm and cosy.
A warm welcoming house. The position is ideal for us due to easy access to the coast and numerous walks in the countryside. The cottage has all the facilities we require and we have enjoyed all our visits.
What a find. Small but beautifully formed and in a location almost to die for. A walkers / dog owners paradise; clean and tastefully renovated; well equipped kitchen; good shower over bath. It suited us and our puppy as we used second bedroom for our clothes. Go there now!!!
We quite enjoyed our stay; the accommodation was clean, comfortable and well equipped on the whole. But the hot water supply to the upstairs washbasin was very poor, and the upstairs double bed and bedding was not good; bed rather hard and creaked, and the duvet and cover were poor. Some heating would be needed for cooler weather - became cold when the weather deteriorated during our stay. Overall, OK but not brilliant. Would not return there.
I chose this studio for its quiet location and secluded garden. I was not disappointed. It is clean, comfortable and well-equipped. A very comfortable bed and an excellent, reliable, powerful shower. There is extra heating in the bathroom if needed. The coal-effect stove is surprisingly cosy. Plenty of room for parking. The owners were friendly and helpful. Chichester, Pagham Harbour, Chichester Harbour, Bosham and the South Downs are all within easy reach. There are several pubs a short drive away and an excellent farm shop.
One of the best showers we've come across in a cottage. A great kitchen too. The TV in each room and Wifi available were also nice touches. The customer service was very friendly and helpful, when we had questions there was always someone available. The location next to Fishers Farm Park, plus nearby pubs and towns was perfect for our family.
Location is excellent - near to the beach but on a no through road so quiet. Pool was brilliant although would benefit from being completely fenced to make it safer for little ones. Loads of plates and big pots and pans but little room for storing foodstuff, and fridge and freezer much too small. Really appreciated the quality of the linen - very comfortable beds and pillows. Would definitely recommend this cottage and would consider returning.
We booked Little House as it was near our son's home, we live in Cornwall and our other children live in Essex and Hong Kong. We all wanted to be together for Christmas and so the location was ideal. It was spacious downstairs with two bedrooms and a bathroom all of a good size and a further ensuite bedroom upstairs (couldn't work the heating upstairs so it tended to be cold). The open plan kitchen and living room allowed a very sociable space. The games room is a great addition when you have a lot of people around and is equipped with a table tennis equipment and a few board games. Al...more
Well equipped, cosy and comfortable cottage. We liked the way it had been sympathetically upgraded and that it retained many of its original features. Garden room an added bonus. We did feel shower curtain arrangement could be improved though. We know the age of the property probably dictates limitations, but a fixed shower screen would be a much better option, especially for larger guests. We thought the microwave should have been replaced due to its very poor condition. We would have no hesitation in recommending the property to others. It was a perfect base for us to catch up wi...more
Saxons was in a pleasant location and there was a nice patio area to sit outside on the whole the rooms were clean and comfortable. However I felt bedding and towels had been well used/washed and the towels particularly were 'thin' and needed renewing.
I have just spent 10 days in a lovely converted dairy cottage. I was given a warm welcome and shown where everything was. The views were either over rolling countryside or on horses heads looking over their doors, bliss. If you are looking for somewhere full of charm I would recommend Old Dairy Cottage any time.
An enjoyable stay in the cottage. It was nice to be surrounded by the garden birds and spring flowers so early in the year.
My wife, my dog and I spent a long weekend in the Well House and loved every minute of it. The location is perfect for some great walks and ideal if you like the peace and tranquility of the countryside. We also spent an afternoon is Lewes which was only a short drive away. We would highly recommend.
We were delighted with our stay at the apartment. The location was perfect, and everything was spotlessly clean and looked brand new. The beds were very comfortable & the kitchen very well appointed. I loved my stay here - all the little touches made it feel like a home and not a holiday let, and my better half loved the smart TV. Would certainly try to book again next time we visit the area, which will hopefully be soon as we now have family relocated there. Thank you.
We spent 6 days at the end of October at Beach Reach. 4 adults and 2 children. The location is fantastic and even in October, access to the beach from the back door is fantastic. Waking up in the 1st floor bedroom to the amazing view is a real treat. There is loads to do in the area and we can highly recommend the English Heritage sites of Battle Abbey and Dover Castle as well as the fantastic bike tracks around Bedgebury Pinetum. The house had everything we needed and was a comfortable and cozy retreat each evening. Having a real fire was a treat. The only observation I would make is that ...more
Good except we found the bed very hard: key for front door mortice lock erratic: stairs not easy to negotiate.
We were very grateful indeed for the flexibility of the let. The cottage was very warm and had everything we needed. We requested an interim linen change and were delighted to find that the cottage had been beautifully cleaned as well. Having Charlie’s farm shop so close was a great bonus and the pub across the road was honestly outstanding for its friendliness and standard of food.
Cosy, comfortable little cottage in an excellent location for a dog friendly break.Very quiet and fantastic walks nearby
Modern house well equipped. Shame about the limited parking. In general house style suits only 2 adults and kids due to only one shower and small kitchen/dining area. Office/lounge extension was a plus.
