Formerly a fishing port, Ballyvaughan lies at the edge of the Burren region on the southern shore of Galway Bay.

We love coming to Ballyvaughan Holiday Cottages, and we have done for a few yrs now. However this time, even though the location and people are as fabulous as always, the cottage we stayed in needs a lot of upgrades. The beds upstairs were very uncomfortable and there were bugs found upstairs. Downstairs wasn't much better. We could not open any of the windows as they had been painted shut. The fire could not be used as smoke billowed into the cottage every time we lit it as the chimney flue was to small or may have been blocked? to allow the smoke to fully escape out of the chimney. Ballyvaughan will always remain a place we will continue to come back to but the cottage definitely needs some upgrades and basic maintenance before we could stay in it again.

cottage in bad need of revamp
No walk in shower only shower in the bath which is no good for older people who cannot access the shower
Windows in cottage loose in the walls and rattled all night also made the bedrooms cold
Furniture has seen better days
Its a disgrace to put people into a cottage where they cant properly wash themselves as at our age we cant climb into a bath with nothing to hold onto to shower
