Tucked away by the woods Thatcher's Corner camp is named after the reeds that surround it, which used to make the perfect roofing material. This is a cute little camp, with great views of the lake and meadows and is great for family and friends wanting some space and privacy.

Westlexham is a beautiful site with clean and modern facilities. The host during our stay, Henry, was incredibly polite, helpful and accommodating to our large group. The food was delicious with many ingredients grown on site. However there were a couple of drawbacks. Once the cafe and indoor seating area was closed for the day (after brunch on Sunday) there were no outdoor spaces that were warm and dry for groups to congregate. We ended up using our hot water and blankets to keep warm whilst sitting on the outdoor decking, however the light and shelter were inadequate so we had to draw the night to an early close.
Additionally due to the heavy rainfall, our bedding was damp throughout our stay and my youngest daughter was ill following two nights sleeping in the tents.
I would definitely visit the site if there was a small number of us (and avoid staying in tents) but would need to see some alterations if we were to visit in a large group again.

This is our second time staying at West Lexham, the first being 7 years ago before we had our two children. We had a great few days and our children loved it. The addition of the swimming pool since our first visit is great, especially if visiting with children. The toilet and shower block is lovely and is kept clean. It is a shame that the pizza oven is no longer accessible for guests as it is now enclosed in the cafe as we enjoyed making our own pizzas when we visited last time. It would be useful to have another hob as there is only one hob. The cafe was nice and we had an enjoyable evening meal there although it was a bit different from as described on the website. Overall a brilliant place to stay and we will be back.

Instantly fell in love with West Lexham. Everyone from Henry on arrival, Lucy the fabulous kitchen gardener, the wonderfully friendly kitchen staff and phenomenal 2 (yes only 2!) gardeners, made our stay amazing and left us wanting more! Thank you too to everyone that we didn’t meet on-site that made everything soooooo lovely.

A lovely stay despite the weather! Cheered by hot showers post swim, marshmallows around the fire pit and incredible food from the garden kitchen cafe.

Somewhere to hang and dry items would have been useful given how wet the weekend was, it was challenging to dry anything if staying in a bell tent and shower room floors a little muddy towards end of stay. Would have been helpful to have had someone on-site to answer questions first eve/morning as cafe staff not part of west lexham team we just had a very brief chat with staff on arrival.

We enjoyed our short stay. The weather was great it was lovely to relax in this peaceful beautiful setting. Swimming pool was lovely with no chemicals and taking a row boat out on the lake was a lovely thing to do. Would like to have stayed longer to unwind and recharge.

Stunning place with beautiful natural pool! The bell tents are perfect for 3 people with plenty of space for storage and moving around. The beds were incredibly comfortable!! The restaurant was just beautiful and all staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food and drinks were also delicious and very reasonably priced.
Would highly recommend and I would love to go back at the next opportunity!

This is our second time here, our first was a family visit during the Christmas period. We stayed in one of the treehouses back then which had an en suite bathroom and kitchen, so we utilised the space and cooked our Christmas dinner in the kitchen, having come prepared.

This time around we visited in summer during the heatwave, and we were really excited to see how the space had been transformed and expanded to include a pool and alternative accommodation styles. We didn’t have en suite this time as we stayed in a yurt, but the shared bathrooms were really impressive anyway - there was always one available whenever we needed to use one and they were super clean, the water was hot and pressure fine too.

We also utilised the communal barbecues alongside some other groups, and we used the basic outdoor kitchen to cook our eggs in the morning as we had come prepared this time around too. We also used the pool on our second day and on our day of departure which is what really made our stay - the pool is beautifully designed to make you feel as though you’re somewhere more holiday-esque in Europe.

We really had a wonderful time, the only things that brought the quality of our trip down were that the food choices didn’t suit our needs (we were under the impression that there would be wholesome, plant-based, organic, clean food on offer but it was really basic, pub/cafe style basic food, and). The only pub offering a variety of vegan and veggie options had run out of all their vegan and veggie options by Sunday lunchtime already. The kitchen we were using seemed to share equipment with the actual cafe on site too - so there were often items we had to dig around for like chopping boards and knives, utensils, etc - and by lunchtime on our second day, there was a swarm of wasps due to the bin bags that had been left out so it was quite difficult to use the outdoor kitchen.

It was a little overcrowded in the pool when the yoga retreats finished for the day, and just that ofcourse being in a wild space (perhaps it was more the location of our particular yurt aswell - Thatcher’s), that there was an incredibly loud symphony of birds and other animals every morning from around 4-6am - but perhaps others wouldn’t mind this so much given the experience of being in a yurt and outdoors.

Despite those minor inconveniences, we loved our stay and are already planning a third visit! Thank you team WL, see you soon! :-)

We booked this glamping trip as three friends celebrating our birthdays. We were attracted to this venue for the festival like atmosphere, live music and crafts. How disappointed were we when we arrived to find none of these things!
The bell tent was smelly and damp, no electricity and certainly not what I would rate as glamping, more like camping! I feel that for the money we paid it was a rip off. I am a keen camper and if I had wanted to have this type of weekend I could of paid far less money. I feel we were totally mis sold this weekend break! awe couldn’t even dry our hair, had to use the plug points in the restaurant! The breakfast was lovely but limited, the evening meal was always pizza.
However, the staff were lovely and the surroundings were stunning, just such a shame.
I feel so sad that our weekend was not what we were expecting and would like to request compensation.
Sue

Beautiful setting, gorgeous food, fantastic staff, campfires for toasting marshmallows, lovely walks, open water swimming and canoeing, etc…we had a pretty idyllic holiday and thought we couldn’t ask for more…we even got to do stand-up paddle boarding on the river, courtesy of other guests who generously lent us their hired equipment! We will be back!

Staff were amazing and understanding. I was quite nervous as I am on medication which makes me vulnerable but Hannah and Michelle in particular were understanding and patient with me. They were both incredibly sweet as was our host that greeted us. This made a big difference to our visit and helped helped build my confidence at my own pace. We've been several times before and I loved the addition of the cafe and breakfast/dinner options - and loved buying the veg grown in the garden. My little boy loved every minute as did we. Magical place. I'm cant wait for our next trip (already booked!)

An amazing weekend away in an idyllic little spot. The team had thought of everything to provide ultimate comfort from hot water bottles to delicious home grown treats in the kitchen. The bathrooms with heated floors were an even bigger bonus....especially after a jump in the lake! Would highly recommend and already want to book my return trip too!

Idyllic stay in such a peaceful location but bell tents over priced compares to other places. 9 year old suggested you might want to put a rope swing up somewhere hidden around the site, a bit like the hidden Japanese garden which was a beautiful surprise

Had a fantastic stay at West Lexham. It’s the most beautiful place, gardens and grounds are fantastic. Lots of amazing planting and gorgeous veg gardens. The wild swimming was a draw for us and we had fun in the row boat. Facilities are to a really high standard, I had my first ever bubble bath at a camp site! The outdoor kitchen is well stocked with dinnerware, cookware etc and the bell tents themselves are clean, comfortable and really charming. We had a great stay.

The site at West Lexham is beautiful however there are some improvements needed in order to justify the price tag. Our bell tent was well appointed and comfortable but was badly sited, it pointed straight at a high reed bed, so although private, it had no outlook. If turned round and some simple planting were added then the aspect of the tent would be much better. Pathways could do with some attention to avoid muddy spots and very uneven ground, so be careful with your footing. There are lots of areas of unguarded water on site so I would be very careful with young children. The toilet and shower block was great and the facilities there excellent and spotless. The garden kitchen is too small to cater for the number of tents really, with only one cooker. More picnic tables should also be added as there are only two additional covered seating areas close to the kitchen.
Several other visitors brought dogs which in itself was not a problem, however all dogs were allowed to run around off lead which is not appropriate with lots of children onsite and as unsupervised, could lead to issues of unhygienic dog mess. I didn’t appreciate other people’s dogs running up to me whilst eating nor barking at night when tent walls are obviously thin !
Overall, it is a lovely site but could do with some upgrading and enforcement of a few sensible rules. It would then justify the fairly hefty £175 per night.

Ok but expensive and could be better

The most stunning location to unwind and enjoy the beauty of Norfolk. Our experience staying in a bell tent was great - everything we needed ( except torches! ) The garden kitchen has everything and was clean and very user- friendly. The garden washrooms were also clean and the underfloor heating was a joy! We look forward to another visit.
