Beautiful house in a lovely part of Scotland. Local facilities are minimal, so take everything you need. House was very clean and comfortable.
This awesome house is on a large lot with beautiful views across the Sound of Mull to the Isle of Mull. House was clean, well equipped, and fully prepared for our arrival. Could not ask for more. It is obvious by the personal touches care that this house is loved by its owners, who also use it as their vacation home. If you are headed to Kilchoan, stay here. In addition, the Kilchoan Hotel, just down the road, had great food and a friendly staff and patrons.
We were met on arrival and shown where everything was and how it all worked. The interior is a little work of art. Managed to forget a watch when we left. A quick call and it was found and dispatched straight away. Terrific service.
Rudh Dubh is beautiful and peaceful and a wonderful place from which to explore west Ardnamurchan. It’s the cosiest cottage imaginable, and a place where you can properly slow down and enjoy the beauty of the locale. It does require sure-footed ness to get there, and a bit of planning if you’re staying more than a week, but it’s really worth it. While there buy veg from the outstanding local community garden and visit the suppliers market in Kilchoan community centre and support the local enterprises!
We had a great 9 night stay in November to unplug and unwind. The location was great as it's at the end of the (single track) road and there's nothing else there. The cottage was well equipped with a great fireplace and decent WiFi, though we couldn't get Sky to work. It is right on the water's edge so we spent hours just watching the tide come in and go out. We saw plenty of seals and local sheep roaming the hamlet of Portuairk. There was some mold on the walls we arrived to, but we don't know how long it was closed up before we arrived. All in all a great and very remote spot, and we'd love...more
Unfortunately after an 8 hour journey it appeared the cleaners hadn’t been in downstairs we had to re wash most plates and pans before use and swept the floor of the living area ,the table was also dirty. We have stayed in several cottages over the years and there is always a welcome book where it tells you what to do with rubbish, how to work the heating etc.here there wasn’t one.We had no hot water all day Sunday which we called at the office to report on Monday the girl was very helpful and it got sorted. We were told Smithy House will no longer be let out so maybe that’s why we had prob...more
We arrived in the dark at Dondies but everything was ready for us and the cottage lovely and warm. The next morning dawned clear and sunny and let us appreciate the glorious view to the Small Isles and the beach at Sanna. We had a very comfortable and peaceful holiday. Great place to unwind.
Probably the best lodge in the area, love it! Second time I've stayed in this lodge and have already booked for next year.
Excellent location for bird and wildlife watching. A bit of a bumpy ride to the property and the beach is a bit of a walk but all in all worth the effort. Very clean and cosy.
comfy retreat with excellent views over the sound of mull. A lovely beach at Sanna and the ferry to Tobermory was notable.
This was our third visit here. It is a cosy property containing all we need for a comfortable and relaxing weeks stay in the area.
Turned up late at night as arranged, door was locked, tried contact numbers, left messages, no one returned calls throughout entire stay. Water went off two nights, was back on by the morning. Also items broken/not working in visitor reviews/books still not fixed for our stay
We had a great time in Ardnamurchan. It is one of the unspoilt areas of Scotland. 4 adults stayed in this accommodation. It smelt fusty due to not being used. the twin room had urine stained mattress which should have been picked up on cleaning. The double bed head board is made of material and you can see where peoples heads have build up stains over time and needs replaced. The cabin had not been aired properly and smelt badly. The shower wasn't sealed properly which could have something to do with the fusty smell. The couches and mattresses need replaced. The heating was the old style ove...more
Stunning views over the water the house although dated was spotless and is a great size with everything you need for your break good spacious rooms separate dining room and utility room fairly new white goods ,flat screen tv, CD player and DVD would certainly use steading homes again
Stunning views with the ever changing weather. A joy beyond words to watch otters, dolphins, eagles (Sea and Golden) go by. Relaxing and soothing. Looking forward to returning yet again.
We had an enjoyable holiday at Ian's Lodge however this was due to the fantastic location of the lodge which is set in a beautiful part of the country. We arrived in darkness and the lodge was quite difficult to find. Unfortunately the bed wasn't made up and there were no linens left for us to do it ourselves despite requesting this at the time of booking. To be fair this was rectified the next day when we were handed sheets to make the bed up ourselves but had to tumble dry them for a while due to dampness. The lodge itself was not cleaned prior to our arrival and again I had to do this mys...more
My friend and I loved our stay at the Saltings. The log construction makes for very warm and peaceful accommodation. Equipment was good quality, good to use and pleasing to the eye (crockery etc) . Furniture comfortable and good looking. We enjoyed the generous dimensions of the shower and the plentiful hot water. The beds are the most comfortable either of us have ever slept in. (double up and down) , The location is excellent - central but very peaceful. We enjoyed the garden, the birds and even the rain as it drummed on the roof. This was a perfect (though too...more
