Comfortable and well equipped, this property is in a beautiful remote location. The delightful owners live nearby and there is easy access to the local coasts and hills.
What an absolutely wonderful place to be. First impressions seem to be of a slightly run down garden but one which soon seems to magically transform into a beautiful little wildlife sanctuary. A lawn of meadow flowers; trees and bushes teeming with thrushes, blackbirds, sparrows and plenty of other birds. Inside is basic but clean and cosy. There were just a couple of downsides: the toilet door lock was broken and the hot water seemed to be either cold or scalding hot with not much more than a dribble of hot water coming from the kitchen tap. The shower was also a tad on the small side, ...more
The location is perfect for peace and quiet and fabulous views of the coastline and surrounding islands. It is quite remote and you need to drive to the nearest shop, so you need to bear this in mind, but it’s fine with the right planning! The extra building added as a large utility room is really handy, with a washer, tumble dryer and plenty of storage space. The caravan itself is ok and very well equipped with all the little things you might need, but the heating isn’t great, nor is the cooker, and the shower is temperamental and inconsistent. On the whole it was very good, but just those...more
This was our second visit to The Byre. We really enjoy the comfortable, homely feel of The Byre which provides the ideal place to completely relax and change pace. We were originally booked for June but the Covid restrictions resulted in our booking being postponed to September. The customer care are support we experienced as we navigated our way through all of that was superb and friendly and gave us complete confidence that all would be well when we did finally get to use our booking.
This was our second visit to rudh dubh and loved it. Unfortunately some of the previous visitors didn't get into the spirit of things leaving the place as you would like to find it, it's clearly stated it's a self serviced place but looked like no one had thought to remove cobwebs for a long time so had to thoroughly clean the Velux so could open up to vent while cooking. So please if you do get the privilege to stay in this magical place treat it with the respect it deserves. We left it better than we found it, make that your aim and look after it as it deserves.
Great location and well equipped given the Covid situation. Also excellent attention to cleanliness and sanitizing the Bungalow and leaving lots of sanitizing equipment for guests. Despite the weather we had a lovely break. However, we did struggle with the heating as it was cold when we arrived and the heaters were switched off. So we had to work out how to operate them and when we did the level of heating was just a bit too low. So we bought logs from the shop at Kilchoan but these were not seasoned sufficiently and therefore did not burn properly. Furthermore the shower cubicle was too smal...more
Comraich is an excellent property, very comfortable and well equipped and located in a wonderful area, we had a super holiday.
A quiet retreat , warm and cosy. Kitchen taps need attending to as extremely hard to turn. Be aware that there is no dishwasher as advertised but view from kitchen window makes washing up a treat.
The view from this property is one of its best features. However, the property overall needs updating. There were a couple of lightbulbs which didn't work & couldn't find any replacements. The bunk bedroom is a struggle for an adult, especially if you have limited mobility. There is also a lack of shelving to put your belongings on. Maybe this should be a single room? Generally, it needs painting and decorating and just generally updating. The kitchen light switch was hidden underneath a cupboard. Ceiling paper hanging off in bathroom en suite. However, the property was warm and near to all fa...more
Full of blowflies when we arrived - at least 100. Took all week to get them out. Upstairs door didn't lock. Surfaces were clean (though the flies we're on them) but all superficial - found food on floor and in sofa. Bathroom awful - shower so feeble as to be more or less unusable. Water spills to floor under screen making it dangerous and rotting the wood. The lack of antislip was also dangerous. The window broken ajar - very draughty. Broken light fittings leaving area pitch dark. No sink plugs except kitchen But having said all that, the bed and lounge were great and the property has p...more
