Formed in the shape of a cross with gables facing South, West & North, there's no shortage of light with the sloping ceilings formed by the complex roof shapes giving The Granary a unique and very contemporary charm. A huge triple-glazed window fills the South Gable and two large glazed doors open onto a Juliette balcony overlooking the Courtyard providing stunning views over the Lakeland fells. Light from this South-facing gable floods into the living spaces highlighting the ever changing pitch of the roof space.

Everything went very well for us. The only deficiency we felt was the lack on a detailed local map so we could identify where to go for a walk in the neighbourhood.

What can I say David? There are libraries of local walks and cycle rides on our website with maps and downloadable GPS routes. One such walk is printed in the Welcome Guide in The Granary and the Guest Intranet also contains many extras like photographs of the walks and extracts from Guide Books etc. So Sorry you didn't find these. So Sorry you didn't ask (we spent much of the weekend gardening and cutting grass) and we never got a response to our email checking that everything was OK? We stayed for 2 nights in the Granary and really enjoyed our stay. The property is lovely, specified to a really high standard and providing everything you could possibly need.

Accommodation very well done. Richard really helpful, responsive and friendly.

Great to be able to charge EV whilst staying here.

Beautiful spot whether for stunning sunsets or moody rain over the fells.

Good for Lakes and Dales. We would stay again particularly as so close to M6 if travelling North

Our accomodation was as described. The quality was high, very clean, decorated tastefully & it felt homely. Communication was clear in terms of arrangements while staying there & checkout day. There was a lot of info provision available to facilitate our stay (where to eat, walks etc). It was evident that a lot of care and attention is invested in the place.

This is our second visit to the Hyning Estate, having stayed in The Byre in the previous year and now The Granary. The apartments are beautifully furnished and immaculately cared for and cleaned. Kitchens are stocked with all the equipment you could want. The location is peaceful, set in its own gardens and surrounded by countryside, with about 10 minutes drive into Kendal.

We stayed at the Granary for 4 nights. We chose this place after doing days of search to find the suitable property for us and the place did not disappoint us. It was spotlessly clean and house was kept very warm. Heating was so good. They are maintaining the place to a very high standard. They have everything what you need for a self catering and most of them were high quality and expensive goods. Beds were super comfortable. It was nice to have welcome wine. Children loved the place and didn't want to leave. Morrisons is about 5 miles away. Communication from the estate was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would go there again.

It had been nearly two years since we had visited Cumbria so our visit felt long overdue. We had stayed at the Hyning Estate several times before. We knew we could trust the quality of the accommodation. The Granary was chosen because it offered elevated views of the mountains. First impressions vindicated our choice. A spacious, incredibly clean, supremely comfortable apartment. We had received extremely thorough guidelines as to what to expect on our arrival and were able to plan accordingly.
The kitchen and bathroom are both very well equipped so we knew what we needed to bring with us and what could safely be left at home.
The location is peaceful, beautiful and convenient for visiting all parts of the county. We enjoyed very varied walks within easy reach of the estate. The apartment was a delight to return to each day. The stormy weather made its comfort even more attractive.
We look forward to our next visit with enthusiasm. We had a really lovely time there.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the granary. The accommodation has everything you could possibly need. Thankyou for providing the game it was really good fun for our teenage son. One niggle was the comfort of our bed and pillow but apart from that everything was truly fantastic.

Hi Lianne and thank you for reviewing The Granary. We're delighted that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay and that it provided eveything you could possibly need. it's a shame and a real mystery about the bed - the most frequent question we get is "Where can we get the mattress as it was the best nights sleep we've had in ages". The only thing we can think of it that the double bed in The Granary is just a Double (as advertised), rather than the King in most other properties as the mattress (which is the same type everywhere) has also been replaced recently. Pillows are a personal preference but we do try to spread a variety around the various beds. Whatever the reason we're sorry that it wasn't quite perfect.. but hoping to see you again soon.. We had a lovely week’s stay at Hyning Estate. The grounds are lovely and beautifully maintained, the apartment clean and well-stocked with cutlery and crockery, and the kitchen a pleasure to cook in. The owners of the estate are friendly and helpful, and we have great admiration for what they have achieved in sustainable hospitality. The location is perfect for exploring the wonders of the Lake District, and we will definitely be back!

From the drive up to the vast expanse of the property, Hyning was all that we could have asked for to getaway from the humdrum of our London life. We are a family of 2 adults and a child aged 9 and we loved the peace and quiet of the property. We went right after the second relaxation of rules (covid) in April ‘21. Richard ensured that all rules and brochures reached us via email well ahead of time to ensure we have a safe, clean and enjoyable time at the property. A huge added advantage is the EV charging point - just make sure you take your cables if you have an EV. The rooms are all comfortable. We stayed at the Granary overlooking the fields and a little stream running at the back of the property. Loved our 3 day stay here and would definitely return back once all covid restrictions are gone so we can actually see Richard and Jan ! :)
The property is very close to Greyrigg and just a 15 -20 min drive to Windermere and the beauties of the Lake District. Highly recommend this property

What a beautiful location and fantastic accommodation. It felt very homely and incredibly well equipped. We loved the views and the peacefulness of the place. A great home from home to go back to after a day of exploring. Would highly recommend.
