Lily Tarn Lodge is located on White Cross Bay at Waterside Wood 7. This is a modern and comfortable 2-bedroom self-catering lodge with a home away from home feel. The lodge benefits from a spacious deck with a hot tub, flat screen television with DVD player and Humax box in the living area, dishwasher, dedicated WiFi for streaming and has a lovely stream running at the front of the lodge. The lodge uniquely has two en-suites and the twin beds in the second bedroom can be made into a super king bed upon request. Dog friendly - one small dog welcome.

Lovely place, so good we keep coming back!

This is our 5th (possibly 6th but I’ve lost count!) visit to Lily Tarn. The location of the lodge is lovely, as is the location of White Cross Bay as I’m a massive lover of the Lakes and this park gives you a great view every time you wander down to the marina.
We didn’t know what to expect of the lodge and our visit due to C19 however I can’t fault the cleanliness of the lodge, it was immaculate. Big compliments to the cleaners!
The lodge hasn’t really changed in the years we’ve been visiting, everything is the same with the exception of a bathroom being modernised. Doesn’t really impact your stay other than showing it’s age with creaky beds, both bedrooms are affected by this and come across a bit rickety as you can feel and hear each other moving in the night but as we only visited as a couple on our own it didn’t affect anything other than our sleep, but this was minimal and we quickly got used to it.
The decor is the same and as this is personal preference has no impact to our stay, however I do believe being updated could increase the appeal of the lodge as many others have a ‘wow’ factor inside, whereas although this lodge isn’t the most recent with its interior, it has one of the best positions for privacy and individuality with its little bridge over the beck and fairy lights meaning it is lovely to sit out and enjoy the hot tub on a night once the sun goes down.
Great news the onsite pub is now dog friendly, unfortunately we didn’t get to use this as seating wasn’t available for a good couple of hours each time we tried to get in for a meal. The overall facilities and services of Parkdean let the trip down. We arrived around tea time and couldn’t get near reception because of diners queuing and waiting to be seated but because we knew where we were going and the barriers were open, we went straight to our lodge. I visited again later that night around 7.45 and reception was closed even though it was supposed to be open until 8. It resulted in an early visit the next morning (again no reception cover) to ask someone for the code to get out as the barriers were down. We used the Parkdean app to order food but had to return into a queue with another two people in the same boat as they’d got our orders wrong.
I really like LDLH’s service as they take care with your booking and give you all the help you need right up to and including your stay. I also love the Lily Tarn Lodge and it has been somewhere we’ve enjoyed staying over the years but this recent visit has meant we’re not rebooking yet for next year and are looking at alternatives for places where we can get better onsite service. This doesn’t mean we won’t be back in the future, just maybe not as often as before.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The lodge location and the parks marina views

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Bowness-on-Windermere has everything

Thank you for the review, Kelley. Whilst delighted you enjoyed your stay at Lily Tarn, we are sorry to hear you were disappointed with the onsite service at White Cross Bay. We can tell you that the park, having brought in extra measures due to Covid, are doing all they can to ensure guests and staff are kept safe. Please do bear with them as we are sure that over time things will fall into place. On that note we do hope that you return to Lily Tarn soon. This comfortable two-bedroom holiday lodge with hot tub is in a great location for exploring the lakes or simply to relax and unwind. A most welcoming place to stay. We will of course pass on your comments to the owners for their reference along with letting them know you love their lodge. Thank you again and for your kind comments. We shall look forward to welcoming you again in the near future.

A lovely stay at Lily Tarn

This was our 5th visit to Whitecross bay (1st in Lily Tarn). The lodge itself is just about 2 mins walk from reception or the lake, off the main road so no traffic passing. The lodge was perfectly clean and had everything that you need. The decking area is ample with plenty of seating, a lovely hot tub and plenty of lights for sitting out on warm evenings. I would definitely return to this beautiful lodge. We were very lucky with the weather too, it was a scorching week with thunderstorms on a few evenings (bonus). One thing that I didn’t know, Whitecross Bay club house is now dog friendly, it’s about time!.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Sitting out on the decking and relaxing

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
A trip to Bowness and hire a boat on Windermere

This is our second time staying in this holiday park, and our first staying in this lodge. It's a really good size for a small family of 3/4. The living area is spacious, with a fire and seating area. The kitchen had all the things we needed, as did the bedrooms.
It was clean throughout. The decor is perhaps a little outdated, but it's not like you're there for long so doesn't matter. And the outside hot tub was amazing! Worth paying the extra to get a lodge with a hot tub for sure!
My only real issue is that the lodge WiFi was really poor. I was on holiday with my partner and her mum, and after a long day's walking we liked to go back to the lodge and put Netflix on and relax, but we couldn't because the WiFi was so bad. I know it's a minor thing, and most will just argue that if you're on holiday you shouldn't be watching TV, and they're right. However we visited in late December, when it gets dark at around 4pm, and so having enough entertainment in the lodge for us was important.

It wouldn't stop me staying here again. But would be handy if the WiFi could be improved.

Overall another great stay!

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The Location and hot tub

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Helvellyn from Glenridding. And drive there through Kirkstone Pass which is just a couple of miles away from the holiday park.

This is a beautiful double fronted lodge. Very spacious and decorated lovely. We have stayed at White Cross Bay many times and we will stay at this lodge again. They even put up a Xmas tree for us!! There’s a stream that runs by the decking and you can see ducks swimming around the site, just beautiful. The hot tub was fab and stayed perfectly clean all week right next to a lit up tree and an umbrella for when it rained. Thank you for a wonderful week.

Location is fab and located across a little stream the lodge can be accessed from two different locations which is handy.

The lodge has a cosy feel rather than modern i feel if they updated the bedding to something a little more modern that it would help ensure the lodge looks a little more modern.

Hot tub was amazing and it was so nice to sit back and relax in the tub on an evening.

One of the benefits of this lodge is having 2 jack and jill bathrooms so you basically end up with two ensuite rooms which is fab if you are travelling as two separate couples.

We had a nice stay in this lodge and love that it is dog friendly.

Thank you for reviewing your stay at Lily Tarn, Josh and we are so pleased to read your comments. This is a great place to stay. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a hot tub and wifi - where better to be for a relaxing break in the Lakes. Noting your additional comment to update the bedding, we will pass this on to the lodge owners for their consideration. Thank you, and for letting us know you enjoyed your stay. Perhaps we will welcome you again soon?

The lodge was nice inside, spacious, clean and tidy. The first thing we noticed was the 'blown' double glazed patio door which was full of condensation, which didn't give us a very good first impression. The settee and chairs were worn and uncomfortable as quite old but overall it was ok. The hot tub wasn't ready for us when we arrived so we had to wait until the following day before we could use it. The outside area we thought needs attention. The decking was always wet, the hot tub old and the patio furniture needs replacing with something more comfortable and modern. We felt the lodges were very much on top of each other as well and had to have the blinds closed most of the time for our own privacy. Overall our stay was 'ok' and we enjoyed it. It is just some of the essentials need attention and it wasn't a 'wow' factor break, especially for the money. An upgrade of certain items would make the lodge more appealing.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The area was stunning and views spectacular, especially the marina area of the park.

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Townend House was really interesting. Also, the views from the top of the hill as you drive up to this National Trust house were breathtaking.

Thank you for your review Deborah. We most certainly take on board all your comments and will look into these in more detail, as well as advising the owner of your comments. On a more positive note, we are pleased to hear you found the lodge to be spacious, clean and tidy. Lily Tarn is a great place to stay, with its own dedicated WiFi, hot tub and with two en-suite bathrooms, it is ideal for couples and families who like their own privacy. We hope we will welcome you back in the future, perhaps maybe in one of our other lodges!

Repeat of previous reviews but I adore it here. The location is amazing, the lodge is home from home and the work being done to the it makes a massive difference. It was spotless and smelt amazing!
Lake District Lodge Holidays make it very easy to sort everything and they’re super friendly.
It’s now becoming a tradition to have this annual visit so I’m sure we’ll be back soon.
One downside is the onsite pub/ restaurant and the service. It’s such as shame as it massively lets down such a wonderful place.

After obtaining the gate code from reception, follow the directions to the lodge provided by Lake District Lodge holidays - if we followed the ones given to us by reception we would still be looking for the lodge today!. The lodge is very private and in a section where there is no through traffic so very quiet. The lodge itself was beautiful and was certainly home from home and the owners have taken a lot of care into providing everything that is needed. The hot tub, although only used once, was fantastic and lovely and warm. Our only comment is that there was nowhere to hang the wet towels and swimwear after use so maybe a clothes airer would be useful. Unfortunately the week we were there it was wet and cold (although in June) so we couldn't make full use of the outside deck etc., but the lodge was lovely to come back to after a day out sightseeing and walking. The site itself was clean and although there seemed to be lots of people around there was never any noise. We went into the bar area once whilst there with the intention of having something to eat but there was only one person serving and about 15 people waiting to get served. Every table seemed to have empty glasses and plates on - I hope this was just a one off and that they were short staffed that day, although we didn't return to find out. The park is well placed as a travelling base and only a 10 minute drive from Bowness. Although we like to go to a different place each time, we will definitely use Lake District Lodge holidays again and have no hesitation in recommending Lily Tarn.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The comfort of the lodge and it's location.

This was our third stay in Lily Tarn Lodge. We just love the accommodation and the location in the park. So relaxing listening to the sound of the beck, just a short walk from the lake and reception and great WiFi (teenagers!).
Almost our second home!

Standard of lodge and location.

Visitors Centre just 10 mins walk from Park , well worth a visit.

We arrived at this resort when it was dark. The instructions by the lady on reception were not the best. Just a quick pencil on a map and the code to enter and exit the barrier and that was it. We were not informed there were actually two entrances/exits. It took about 45 minutes finding the lodge itself when it should have only taken 5 minutes. All the lodges look the same in the dark and many are unlit so it made the task ten times more difficult. It would really help to have the names of the lodges on the outside so it is clear which lodge is which without having to shine your torch on the lodge windows to try and find the lodge numbers.

When we eventually found our lodge it was appreciated that it was warm and clean. Throughout our stay it was like home from home and the lodge is in a peaceful location. There is a little stream opposite the lodge where you will see ducks and occasionally swans. We took swan and duck food which went down a treat. We ordered a cheap tub from Amazon and also took some bird seed for the bird feeder on the tree. Occasionally we saw deer from the living room.
The lodge itself was perfect the hot tub was great and was regularly checked. We never used the leisure facilities so cannot comment on these.

The walk to Bowness took about an hour and would be a bit too much for some people; however, there are regular bus services right outside the resort so it is easily accessible to many places in the Lake District.

The only downside for us was there was nowhere to exercise our dog off the lead (you have to keep dogs on a leash at all times) which we discovered when we were throwing the ball to our dog early one morning at the picnic area by the Lake. A man who works there politely advised us our dog must be on a lead. We asked him where we could exercise her and he mentioned Brockholes. The strange thing is that on the map of the park which we were given when we arrived there is actually a big green area which states it is a dog exercise area (next to Woodland Walk) but we could find no such areas after walking around the park...nor was it mentioned by this man. If these areas have gone then the maps should be updated. We had to walk to Brockholes everyday...about a 15 minute walk away after you exit the park to the left along the main road. I do agree that dogs should be on a lead with the wildlife here but a separate area to exercise your dogs would be beneficial. This is the only reason we would not return but overall we enjoyed our stay.

I love it here, quiet enough to be peaceful but close enough to main roads and walking distance of Windermere. As a dog owner I love I can bring my full family and enjoy downtime together.
The log cabin isn’t the more modern type but it’s like home from home and comfortable. The new bathroom makeover looks amazing!
I’ve just booked the 7th stay again so will be seeing you again soon!!

The Lake District ‘feeling’, it just makes you relax the minute you get there!!

We booked Lily Tarn lodge for a short break for my elderly father of 82yrs myself and partner. The location for him and the hot tub for us we were hoping.
When we arrived at the lodge we found dead flies on the living room and kitchen floor so out came the hoover.
The lodge is a little dated but comfortable during the day time.
The night time we found very uncomfortable due to the condition of the mattresses. Both bedrooms we found the same with spring mattresses that are in need of replacing instead of using a mattress topper to hide the condition of the mattress.Restless uncomfortable nights sleep for all of us.
The twin room my father used but needed help in the shower as it was very slippery. Would have helped having a non slip shower mat available or in place.
The outdoor garden table and chairs look old and are missing a chair.
Found the hot tub to be disappointing when we used it on our first night as only one set of jets or pumps were pumping out air so basically no power to hot tub felt more like sitting in a warm bath.
Terrible amount of horsefly also which give a nasty bite as my partner discovered leaving us having to make a trip to the local chemist.
Maybe a warning in the welcome booklet might be useful and some fly spray would help for inside.
Also where is the iPod docking station?

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The harbour area in the sunshine

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Boat trip around the Lakes on a beautiful sunny day well with it.

Thank you for your review, Gina and we are sorry to hear that your stay at Lilly Tarn was not to your satisfaction. We take on board all you have said and although it is now too late to put right for you we can confirm that the issues raised are in hand or have indeed been dealt with. Furthermore, we will be monitoring the lodge more closely in future. With regard to the cleaning issues we have spoken with the cleaning company to ensure, so far as possible, that these do not happen in the future. The mattresses have been checked and although no signs of damage were found we have passed on your comments to the lodge owners for their consideration. Whilst we do find that comfort is a personal preference we also understand that a good nights sleep is essential for an enjoyable holiday. The outside furniture has been replaced and looks great. Your further comments and suggestions are noted and passed on to the lodge owners for their reference. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused to your stay. We are confident that should you chose to return to Lily Tarn all will be to your satisfaction - and should there be any issues then we are always on hand to assist. This lodge is spacious, well equipped and in a great location for a relaxing holiday in the Lake District and we will be delighted to welcome you again.

The first time I have ever taken my small dogs away and it couldn’t have been any better. The secure decked area was a welcome addition so I didn’t have to worry about the dogs escaping. The lodge itself was a true home from home, clean, comfortable and fully equipped. The hot tub was a real treat. If I really had to think of an improvement it would be alternative flooring to light carpets, I was worried sick about paw prints but really it was perfect and I will definitely be booking again.

Stayed 4 nights at Easter. The lodge was clean (not spotless - there were crisp packets under the bed and the fridge was dirty when we arrived) however everything else was OK. Good facilities in the lodge itself with most things that you'll need for a holiday (cooking, cleaning etc.) Would have been nice to have a cafetière though! The park itself is amazing, lots of children there but none screaming around on their bikes. The bar is busy and overpriced but with so many lovely pubs around who needs it?!?! Didn't try the leisure facilities as so much lovely countryside to see, but it looked OK as we peered through the window - just to warn you it gets very busy and you need to book swimming slots well in advance.
Being able to walk to the lake from the park is great and trips to Ambleside are worth it.
All in all a very very nice stay. Thanks to all at Lake District Lodge Holidays for the fab service - I will definitely book with you again.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Scenery

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
White Moss Walks - but don't follow the crowd, go off piste and make up your own walk by climbing to the top of the hills, the views are stunning.

Thank you for taking time to leave a review, Christopher. It is pleasing to hear you enjoyed your stay at Lily Tarn, indeed a fabulous lodge in a fabulous location. It has been a pleasure having you stay at Lily Tarn and we look forward to welcoming you again in the near future - and should you wish to enjoy the leisure facilities then perhaps visit Choices Health Club, just two minutes from the park and complimentary to all our guests. Definitely worth a visit!

Just spent a fabulous 2 night break at Lily Tarn in White Cross Bay. Despite a shaky start where our trip was nearly cancelled due to the poor weather conditions of the beast from the east, we decided to brave it, and was glad we did as we all had an excellent weekend.

It was such a relief to get into the lodge which on arrival was so warm and cozy. the lodge is very spacious and well equipped with everything we needed, and more. We even managed to get in the hot tub despite the snow!. We really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of the park and lodges, its a great place to relax together in peaceful surroundings and spend quality time together.

The Park itself is in a great central location, and just a short drive to Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside. I would love to visit again in the spring/summer so that we could make better use of the outside decking areas and the park surroundings.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The home from home feeling of staying in a lodge

Lily Tarn is one of my favourite places! My boyfriend and I booked for the first weekend in January last year, and the second this year. And we hope to make it a yearly tradition!
It is beautiful and secluded, it's the perfect getaway for those with busy lives.

The lodge is warming and homely, with two bathrooms (a bath and shower- which is great), there's so much room. It's kind of like being in a bubble, with no one else around. I love it here!

I think the Lodge was ideal for what we was after and that was to chill out and relax and to have a base to see the area's other sites. The Lodge is not brand spanking new but has obviously been refurbished and this seems to add to it feeling homely.

First time we've stayed in a lodge and it was amazing. Lovely and clean and well equipped, lots of room and storage. Being a family with two teenagers two bathrooms was fab!! Plenty of hot water and Hot tub was lovely we used it everyday, little fairy lights in the tree made it so special at night. Gates both ends of the decking meant the dogs could roam safely, with plenty of walking all day they mostly slept. Very quiet site, so could really relax. Definitely would return.

We've been a returning visitor to Lily Tarn for a number of years now without issue, however this will be our last visit given the policy change by the owners to only allow one dog. Such a shame as we've never had any issues with our dogs and always made sure we fully respected the lodge and it's contents.
Although not the most modern/ contemporary in its decor, I love the location of the lodge in that it's right in the middle of the park but private enough too so you can enjoy the hot tub and decking area.
We have rebooked for the 6th year running with Lake District Lodge Holidays as they're helpful and always provided a good service to us however it will be with another log cabin

Thank you for your review, Kelley and letting us know you have enjoyed staying at Lily Tarn over the past few years. The lodges are privately owned and as booking agents we have to respect the wishes of the owners, although we are pleased to hear that you have already booked for next year in a lodge that will accommodate your requirements. Lily Tarn offers very comfortable accommodation, a real home from home. With the addition of a hot tub and in a good central location to onsite facilities as well as the marina, this is a super choice for a holiday. Perhaps in the near future we will welcome you once again to this very homely lodge.

Lovely lodge in good location not far from the lake or reception and shop.Stayed on Whitecross bay several times and will be returning again this year.Nice sized decking secure and quite private despite being situated just off the main drag. The lodge itself was suitable for 4 adults baby and dog !Not as large as other lodges i have stayed in but nevertheless everything was just fine.Nice quaint feeling about it and the hot tub at night lit up by the lights around the tree was fab.Would definitely return to Lilly Tarn .Thank you for a much deserved relaxing break in a beautiful part of the country.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed at Lily Tarn in the middle of June. This lodge was situated on White Cross Bay, near Windermere.

We had a lovely week, used the facilities within the lodge, the BBQ and the hot tub everyday and we were blessed with glorious weather for the first half of the holiday- the rain didn't stop us though!

We took our own food but on the last night we ate at the complex, the food was lovely but there was a long wait and there was one staff doing absolutely everything. The bar staff didn't offer to help and seemed disinterested in their jobs if I'm honest, especially as they forgot my drink yet charged me for it and they couldn't find what I wanted to eat on their computer.

We didn't use the swimming pool but heard you had to book to use it anyway and only got a hour. The shop was good and had everything you needed but shut at 8pm, what if you needed something in an emergency? There is a shop in the local town however.

When we went to check out there was not a soul at reception, which we found out as it was just before 9am.

We did enjoy the location and the lodge but the bar staff need to learn to smile and look interested in their jobs.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Hot Tub and BBQ

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?

Fiona - Lake District Lodge Holidays replied more than 1 year ago
Thank you for your review, Jessica and letting us know you had a lovely week at Lily Tarn. The lodge offers superb accommodation for a couple, or a family, looking for break in the Lake District. Further to your feedback comments about the onsite facilities and customer service, we were sorry to hear they were not as expected, although as independent booking agents we have no control over how the Park is managed. Having said that we will pass on your comments to the Park management for their reference and we would like to think the poor service received was a one off. Please accept our apologies. Should you return in the near future perhaps worth trying Choices Health Club, a super complex and complimentary to all our guests; convenient to White Cross Bay and includes a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and an excellent gym. Definitely worth bearing in mind. We were pleased to hear you made the most of the self catering lodge; it is very well equipped for a relaxing getaway. Perfect for enjoying a home cooked meal of an evening with a bottle of wine, or two! And of course the hot tub, very relaxing.

A lovely weekend

A lovely lodge but when we arrived at 3pm the cleaner and hot tub guy were still there. We were told to leave the hot tub for one hour but had to ring for the hot tub man to come out as it was over heating. The lodge and hot tub should have ready at the stated time 3pm. Good facilities otherwise.

Thank you for your review Sharon. We apologise that the lodge wasn't quite ready for your arrival at 3pm on what was a very busy changeover day for the independent contractors who service the lodge. Thank you for your patience in waiting a few minutes for the work to be completed. The hot tub itself was most unusually too hot for you and whilst the contractor suggested leaving the lid off for a short period they needed to return when it hadn't cooled down sufficiently for you to use comfortably. This was done promptly when you informed us there was an issue. We are pleased you like the lodge and it is a very popular place to stay with it's spacious interior and lovely outside deck with the private hot tub.

This is our first experience in a log cabin. We stayed in this lodge for 3 nights and must say we loved it as soon as we walked through the door! Just like home from home. The cleanliness was excellent. Decking is spacious. Such a cosy and comfortable lodge! It is located very close to reception.
We was more pleased that this lodge accepted dogs as we took our Labrador and must say he enjoyed it to!
The site it is on is one of the best sites we've stayed on, so relaxing.
We're hoping to return to Lily Tarn again in the future. Definitely recommend to anyone who would like to stay at White Cross Bay.

I really love the location of Lily Tarn, private enough to enjoy the hot tub but central to all parts of the park.

The only downside (which is very much personal preference) is that the double room has a spring mattress which I struggled to sleep on, but it in no way detracted from the amazing stay we had.

I'm already booked for next year and as this was our 4th visit to the park I can see it becoming a family tradition to visit at least once a year.

Treated myself to a long weekend at Lily Tarn to celebrate my birthday and was very happy with everything. Pre arrival service and information was excellent. We checked in quickly and found the lodge easily. The lodge was just as described and seen in the photos on the website. Everywhere was clean and everything worked.the kitchen was well stocked with crockery and pots etc and had everything we needed. The outdoor hot tub was fantastic and we used it everyday. The only slight issue we found was the main bathroom floor was wet on arrival and smelled of damp. But this did not spoil our stay. We would happily return. The site and location is good. Even the weather was lovely !

Thank you for your kind review, Sharon. We were pleased to hear you enjoyed your birthday weekend, and in such beautiful surroundings. We checked the bathroom for any damp issues after your initial after stay feedback comments. As there is carpet in the bathroom a steam cleaner is often used and therefore the carpet is not having sufficient time to completely dry out. Thank you for bringing it to our attention and we will pass it on to the lodge owners for their consideration. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Although we were delighted to hear that it did not spoil your stay and you would happily return. The lodge is a super option for those looking for modern and spacious accommodation for up to 4 people, with two en-suite bathrooms and a private hot tub – very relaxing! We look forward to having you stay with us again, perhaps for your next birthday?

I have recently returned from a wonderful week at Lily tarn , from the moment we arrived to leaving we have loved every minute. The lodge was in a superb location on the site and also for visiting places near Windermere , especially Brockhole which was excellent for our children. Lily tarn itself had everything we needed, on arriving it was very clean and tidy, very good first impressions. Plenty of information about places to visit and eat in and around the local area in the booklet in the lodge . The hot tub was an added bonus everyone especially the children loved it !. Luckily for us the weather was great but if had not been there was games , DVDs etc provided in the lodge to keep everyone entertained . We will, defiantly be returning to Lily tarn at some point in the future .

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Location of lodge, how quiet it was and the hot tub !

We enjoyed the hot tub which raises the value to those of other lodges . Lily tarn was cosy of a nite, with low lighting in and outside. This would be a nice lodge for some but not for us. Sorry would like to give more but found the previous lodge we went to on limefitt park same value but Hard to compete with, also very modern only minus the hot tub!! But I'd rather be with out the hot tub!! But there will be others that will get a lot of value from this lodge and get more from it as a family.

We really enjoyed our stay at White cross bay. It was a lovely place to stay. The only thing that was disappointing was the cleanliness of the log cabin. On arrival, we found the carpets were full of dog hairs, I got the Hoover out and Hoovered myself. The Hoover we used hadn't been emptied, so the doggy smell then ended up right round the house. Bathroom was very dated and in need of a good clean, which again I did myself. It didn't spoil our stay tho, after we had cleaned, things were fine. Definitely need to chase your cleaners.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Location, jacuzzi.

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?

Gillian from Yarm stayed at Lily Tarn Lodge for 4 nights in June 2016

Fiona - Lake District Lodge Holidays replied more than 1 year ago
Thank you for your review, Gillian. We were sorry and disappointed to hear that on your arrival the cleanliness of the lodge was not quite up to the high standard expected. This is unusual for this lodge so much so that we immediately brought it to the attention of the contract housekeepers so that something similar does not happen again. We will also continue to follow up on the issues raised and monitor for future reference. Please accept our sincere apologies. In response to your other comments we have passed them on to the lodge owners for their consideration - thank you for these. On a brighter note we are pleased to hear it did not impact on your stay and you went on to have an enjoyable time. Lily Tarn is a great option to have as a base to explore the beautiful Lake District and with the added bonus of two parking spaces and a large terrace complete with hot tub it has a unique quality - ideal for friends to meet up for a weekend break or a family holiday. We would be delighted should you wish to return in the near future.

Veronica from Leeds stayed at Lily Tarn Lodge for 3 nights in June 2016

Mark - Lake District Lodge Holidays replied more than 1 year ago
We appreciate your feedback comments Veronica and are sorry there were a few things which weren’t quite right for your stay. For the security of guests with dogs (or children) the decking is fully enclosed with gates which can be easily ‘bolted’. We have checked this and confirm that is the case so we are not sure what difficulties you encountered. The kitchen should have been fully equipped including the items mentioned. We had not been advised of anything missing so appreciate you bringing this to our attention. The items will be replaced. Finally, the shower head simply required tightening as it was loose. We apologise for any inconvenience caused although we are disappointed that you didn’t let us know during your stay or immediately afterwards in our after stay correspondence so they could be addressed sooner. Your review mentions nothing about your stay although we assume from your ratings that you went on to have an enjoyable stay. Lily Tarn is a very popular lodge in a great location near the lake and has a superb decking area for entertaining, and of course the hot tub!

Had a fantastic stay the cabin was super the meals at the restaurant were exceptionally good much better than I thought they would be we were in an ideal location to get the bus into Windermere and Bowness one way and Ambleside and Keswick the other way a perfect location to visit anywhere in the Lakes. The restaurant was exceptionally good for both the food and entertainment. The take away service was also very quick and food good.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The relaxing atmosphere and the hot tub

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?

Thank you for leaving a review of your stay, Ivy. We are so pleased to hear you had such a good time. As you say the location is perfect for exploring the area and so much better to be able to leave the car and take a bus, giving you all the freedom to just relax and soak up the scenery. A sail on Lake Windermere – how wonderful and very relaxing. Lily Tarn is a very popular choice with having two en-suites and a spacious terrace. Ideal for families or friends to share, not forgetting the hot tub! We would be delighted to have you stay with us again in the near future.

Enjoyed every minute of our stay and was perfect for the dog too. The fact that we could let him out in the decking all day without him getting out was reassuring.

It was a perfect location for Windermere, bowness and Ambleside.

The Jacuzzi was a bonus.

The only negative point we had was in regards to white cross bay. All the staff are very young and more focuses on talking and planning their night out rather that providing the best service they can.

Food wasn't that great on site. But apart from that I would go definitely go back

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The location weather and jacuzzi

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?

the procedure from booking, right up to our arrival was very good, we came from abroad and Paula and her team were very helpful and accommodating, all the info and key details were received as planned
The staff at reception at White cross bay were helpful and friendly, as in the bar and restaurant
The lodge itself was very comfortable and had all the necessities for our stay
It took a while to work out how to control the central heating - we were sweating the first two nights!, but once we sorted this out we were very comfortable
We did not use the hot tub, so can´t comment, but it was on during our stay and cleaned as well
thank you to all concerned for a memorable week at the lodge

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
the comfort of being at home, and luckily the weather to go with it!

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?

This is a lovely place to stay and this was our third visit. However we wouldn't go back again due to a recent change to the swimming pool. One of the reasons we chose this site was due to the fact that there were leisure facilities included. Unfortunately a £15 charge has been introduced to use these and if this wasn't bad enough you can only use the facilities for 45 minutes at one time. This isn't enough time if you're a family and one of you wants to relax in the sauna while the other plays with the kids and then do a swap. You have to book your slot so the flexibility of use is totally lost. I have never experienced this in my entire life, the pool was packed out for 45 minutes and then the cross over of people getting changed to go out with those going in was a nightmare. Awful, awful awful! what a shame. Why would anyone introduce such a policy?

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
hot tub that was part of our lodge.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your stay, Karen. We are sorry you were upset by the way the swimming pool facilities at White Cross Bay are operated. Whilst we will pass on your comments to the park management, regrettably we have no control over this. We go to great lengths to tell guests what they may expect (particularly at busy times) and offer a superb alternative which is both convenient and free of charge. All guests who book with Lake District Lodge Holidays can use Choices Health Club which is just 2 minutes away from White Cross Bay. Here you can use the facilities without restrictions. We are disappointed that you have chosen to say little about your lodge accommodation. Lily Tarn is a spacious and very popular lodge complete with a lovely outside hot tub in which to relax after a day out walking or visiting the many attractions in the area.

Thank you kindly for your review, Andrea. We are delighted to hear the lodge exceeded your expectations and you enjoyed your stay. Lily Tarn is a great lodge for families and having the added bonus of a hot tub keeps everybody happy and relaxed. And Bowness is a great day out, something for all the family and some great walks. One to try is Post Knott, with the most stunning views of the lake and fells once you reach the top. Really pleased you had such a good time and we look forward to welcoming you again in the near future.

Lily tarn lovely place and in site location only a couple of points to make the side door to enter the property was a bit dodgy worked then didn't , no hardship just used other doors ... Other point is the hot tub , we have one of our own so we know you need to be clean to go in it but after one day the water went a not very nice colour and foamed when jets were on again I'm not complaining just needs to be looked at

This is our second visit to Lily Tarn. I love the location of this lodge as the secure decking and layout is perfect for my dogs to enjoy the scenery while remaining safe in view, meaning we can relax in the hot tub without worrying about where they are. The park is lovely and quiet but provides enough help and support for anyone who needs it.
The first break in 2014 was booked within weeks of Lily Tarn being available through this site and I think due to the newness of the lodge being offered we were spoilt, as the second visit didn't live up to the first. I'm unsure if this has been due to earlier visitors leaving it this way but basic amenities were provided for only 1-2 days maximum meaning we had to go out on the first full day there and buy toilet rolls and bin bags ourselves. Given the cost of the short break and that they were there the first time we wrongly assumed they'd be there the next visit. This didn't detract from the nice time out away from work however a little warning note beforehand would help if this is the case going forwards.
To say the lodge is open for dogs, the carpets, floors and furniture were spotless.
Even in the future if we don't return to Lily Tarn I would recommend booking through Lake District Lodge Holidays as their service has been excellent.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The quiet and scenery that goes on forever

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?

Thank you for writing a review of your latest stay at Lily Tarn. We are sorry that you felt your experience wasn't quite like the first time. The lodge is self catering and we do point out that there are only starter supplies provided. This didn't appear to detract from you stay at this very popular, clean and spacious lodge which enjoys a nice spot within White Cross Bay. Thank you for your kind comments about the service we at Lake District Lodge Holidays provide - it is greatly appreciated.

Location is OK, you can't actually walk around any part of the Lake from the site, but you walk down to the edge and look across and it is a beautiful part of the world. You do however need to leave the site to see it properly. The site is not conveniently located for shops unless you drive, the problem with this is that the onsite facilities don't appear to show signs of life before 9am so not good service if you want a newspaper to read as did my father which meant a drive to the local petrol station each morning.
In terms of Lily Tarn itself, for just shy of £1000 for the week I would have expected luxury and we certainly didn't get it. It is however clean and nicely appointed. We felt the kitchen could have had more in terms of cooking utensils but it was satisfactory, and in the one bathroom the fan and toilet seat were both in need of of some WD40! I cannot understand why these simple things have not been looked into and resolved. Both woke you up at night if one of you used the bathroom.
The hot tub was very clean which was good but again the lodge was lacking the basic necessity of plastic / acrylic glasses for use when in the tub, it states you cannot use glass when in the hot tub so why would you not provide the correct items for the job? As we have a hot tub at home we would have bought our own glasses had we known there were none provided.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Windermere Town and the Hot Tub

Thank you for writing a review of your recent stay at Lily Tarn. We were sorry to hear a couple of things weren't right for you. Having been unaware of the things mentioned until after your stay we have now addressed these and apologise for any inconvenience caused. Your comments about the opening hours for the on site shop have been passed on to the park management. There are many lakeshore walks very close to White Cross Bay, although a large part of the Windermere shoreline is not accessible on foot as it is privately owned. Guests staying there love the small marina with it's boats and nice views and then head off to explore the area including the lake access at nearby Brockhole. Lily Tarn is a very popular, spacious and comfortable holiday lodge which, with the addition of a relaxing outside hot tub, provides great value accommodation when visiting the Lakes.

Being dog owners we have stayed in some dia accommodation. What a refreshing change to be able to stay in such a lovely cabin with lovely furnishings and be trusted by the owners to take care of it even though we have dogs! From a woman's point of view - loads of wardrobe space, well equiped spaceous kitchen and a bath! So spoilt. Lovely decking area with table and chairs with umbrella plus relaxing hot tub with canopy. As the title says, this cabin is exactly as the photos depict. Would recommend highly to all my family and friends and would love to return.

Could not fault lily tarn lodge it was spotless with plenty of room for two couples. The only problem was although the lodge was dog friendly there was no to go for a meal and a drink on the site with your pet.
There was a garden in front of the clubhouse that could be used weather permitting but it was a little chilly when we stayed. The solution was to walk to the sun hotel who had a section that allowed dogs.
I'm sure there was lots of people like us because everybody seemed to have pets with them so probably had to self cater. Apart from that it was a nice midweek break.

We really enjoyed our stay at Lily Tarn. Everything was clean and in working order. The hot tub feels really private because of the plants and fences. There is a little stream which runs right underneath the walkway to the decking which is beautiful. The only criticism is that on the Friday and Saturday night the noise from the club was loud.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Comfort

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Walk at White Moss Wood

Thank you for reviewing your stay at Lily Tarn and we were delighted to hear that your rated all aspects of your stay as a maximum 5 out of 5. It is unusual to hear of noise coming from the Clubhouse and pleased that it didn't spoil your stay at this lovely lodge.

Nice but could have been better

We stayed in this location for as a cental point for all members of the family to come together for a celebration. We booked a long weekend and had a nice stay but it could have been improved with just a few minor adjustments ; we arrived in the dark and there was no light outside to help us navigate the wet and slippery steps leading up to the door ( when we gained access to the lodge we found that the outside light didn 't work ) . There was an unpleasant smell in the lodge ; the TV was old and the tubes obviously gone as the picture was yellow. We didn't make a cup of tea til night time and discovered the kettle was broken and it was then too late to obtain another. The oven was lacking baking trays so nothing could be heated up that required a tray and when we used the shower in the main bathroom, it was broken. We informed the staff at reception the following morning about the kettle and they replaced it immediately however the maintenance man called round in the afternoon and thanked me for informing him about the broken shower but he wasn't keen to get a plumber in on the weekend and could we all use the ensuite instead ; we did, shower was rubbish, produced a warm trickle of water only. He did replace the outside lightbulb though. Our weekend wasn't spoiled in any way but a check of the electrics / facilities at the point of cleaning from the last occupants would have sorted most things out and an air freshener would certainly help. Other lodges at the site are much more modern and priced the same so I would probably stay elsewhere on the site if I were to return.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Being able to take our dogs along for the holiday

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Windermere is a dog friendly town and we were able to go for a walk, shop & a coffee and take our dog along too

Thank you for completing a review of your recent stay at Lily Tarn. We were sorry there were a couple of things which weren't quite right for you and apologise this was the case. It is always disappointing when this happens. As advised when we called round to assist with a couple of minor issues, the outside light had been left on for your arrival so the bulb must have blown prior to. With regard to the shower in the bathroom, as the ensuite shower was working fine at the time you confirmed you were happy to use this (since there was no guarantee we could get our plumbing contractor out to fix things that afternoon). We were particularly disappointed that you made no reference to any other matters both when asked at the time of our visit and in our after stay email. The owners stayed themselves immediately afterwards and reported back that the TV was working fine (with no picture problems) and the baking trays were in the kitchen cupboards. There was also no evidence of any unpleasant smell both at our visit and afterwards. Having said these things we note that your weekend wasn't spoilt in any way. The lodge is very popular and it offers spacious, bright and airy accommodation with all mod cons and has a lovely outside space and private hot tub.

We arrived to a spotlessly clean lodge. It had lots of little extras that made my holiday. The hot tub was brilliant and very secluded would return asap. There was even a dishwasher with tabs for you to use. Books and DVDs where left for you to use. Even ice in the freezer and when we left we also left some for the next guest. Quite relaxing holiday we felt we had been there for weeks instead of a few days. Would recommend this to all couples looking for a romantic getaway with a difference.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The quite location

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Day cruise on lake Windermere including motor museum

The lodge was spacious enough and had everything you would expect in a house. It was nicely furnished and had a lovely deck and a wonderful hot tub. We liked the location as it was close to many attractions. The lake is only a short stroll away.
The only problems were that there was no lighting on the deck so at night using the hot tub could prove a little tricky. Also the lodges are all very close to each other so there was no privacy.
Very good for a family break especially for families with small children.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The hot tub and the location

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Definitely do the Beatrix Potter exhibition if you have young children and also Wordsworth's cottage in Grasmere was a great experience. We also loved the short boat trip from Bowness (45 min)

Thank you for reviewing your recent stay at Lily Tarn. We were sorry to hear a couple of things weren't quite right for you. There should be adequate external lighting to illuminate the deck sufficiently (unless the lights weren't used or the bulbs had blown during your stay). The lodges are in relatively close proximity to each other although Lily Tarn does enjoy a more spacious spot with the stream running in front of the lodge. Everything has been done to ensure the lodge offers acceptable privacy with internal blinds. The hot tub is also screened by trellis and planters. Those points aside we were pleased you had a pleasant stay at the lodge.

We stayed Mon-Fri. The lodge was very clean and tidy it was very easy to check in. The location is ok as you are in between Windermere and Ambleside. There were 4 of us and a small dog staying and there was plenty of room within the lodge. The best walk we found was from Elterwater taking in 2 waterfalls and a fantastic cafe called Chesters the food was amazing. I would recommend this location as we found some really good walks not too far away. The park itself was very quiet and you could relax in the evening. We ate at the bar restaurant on site one night and the food was very good. The only down side was the settee was a little uncomfortable. Overall we all had a very enjoyable stay and will probably book again next year.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Lodge was very cosy

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Chesters cafe

Property was lovely hot tub was very relaxing after long walks, site was quiet, I enjoyed my walk in the wood and down to the lake with the hound, I didn't use the bar or restaurant as only guide dogs allowed which is a shame

The peace and quiet

Thanks you for reviewing your recent stay at Lily Tarn, Carl. Pleased to hear you had a relaxing time. Sorry that you couldn't take your dog into the onsite bar. This is something the park owners have decided upon although there is an outdoor seating area when the weather is nice. That said there are a huge number of pubs in the Lakes which will welcome you and your dog.

Thank you for reviewing your recent stay at Lily Tarn. It is difficult to get a balance on how firm or soft a mattress is as this a personal choice, we are sorry that this wasn't best for you. That aside we are glad you felt everything else at the lodge was to your satisfaction and we look forward to arranging another stay sometime soon.

The lodge provided us with a great base to explore the Lake District with a number of walks nearby. Windermere and Ambleside were only a short distance away and had lots of facilities. The lodge was comfortable with the add touch of luxury with the 'hot tub' which we made daily use of.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Peaceful surroundings and the hot tub.

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Loved the walk around Rydal lake.

This is the third time we have stayed at the park. The lodge although comfortable we found it to be rather unclean. There was dust and cobwebs over lampshades and under radiators ect. Also the lodge was missing basic amenities compared to the other lodges we stayed at. Although i realise the owners of lily tarn have only just started renting out . The biggest assest was two ensuites and the hot tub

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
hot tub

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
excellent cycling routes

Our family of 4 stayed at Lily Tarn for 4 nights. We absolutely loved it! The lodge was spotless and very comfortable. The deck and hot tub were great for relaxing in the sunshine, secluded from view of passers by and pretty lights in the trees once darkness fell. We will definitely be returning! The park is ideally located for visiting the whole of The Lake District and set on a lovely lakeside location.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The location

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
walk to Brockhole and buy a walkers ticket at the jetty. 4 boat trips and a lovely 4 mile (mostly flat) walk along opposite side of Windermere
