Esk Pike Lodge is located on White Cross Bay at Skiptory Howe 9. This is a traditional and cosy 2-bedroom self-catering lodge in one of the most private spots with woodlands surrounding 3 sides of the lodge. There is a secluded and covered hot tub to enjoy in every weather. The lodge offers televisions in both bedrooms, mini Hi-Fi system, dedicated Wi-Fi for streaming devices, selection of DVDs and board games and the patio doors in the master bedroom lead to an outside secluded side deck. Sorry, no dogs accepted.

Nice lodge, bed could have been more comfortable.
Location lovely.
Could have been cleaner.
One wall heater was broken but we were provided with an electic plug in heater.
There is no table in the lodge which we weren't aware of & my husband struggles the eat on his lap, there are lap trays to use, these were dirty when i got them out.
Hot tub was obviously a hit especially with our daughters.
Entertainment passes are an extra £15. We bought these when we arrived however we were never asked to show them and if you want to swim you have to book your slot well in advance. We only managed to book one slot for the whole of the week we were there, and that was on our last night.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Hot tub and seeing wild deer

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Grasmere

I recently stayed at the Esk Pike Lodge and it was better than anything I could’ve hoped for. The hot tub was unreal and the lodge very cosy and traditional. Brilliant location in White cross bay as it’s in a more private spot. Had many friends ask for link to this lodge, definitely the best one in white cross bay. Hoping to be back next year!

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The lodge was more private and could sit outside without onlookers and enjoy our time, perfect location and was very luck to have beautiful weather

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
We did the GOAPE experience and generally visiting Bowness-on-Windermere especially BAHA for food.

Whilst the park generally was a little tired in places the Lodge itself is tucked away in a little spot and feels very homely. The outdoor area and hot tub are so private and so high up you feel like you're in a tree house. The inside was cosy and comfortable. The kitchen is a little under equipped but we managed. Had a lovely week getting out and about.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Hot tub

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Walking / swimming in Easedale tarn

Thank you for your review Joanna, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay in this lovely lodge. We are sorry you found the lodge to be slightly under equipped and your comments have been passed to the lodge owners for their information, please accept our apologise for any inconvenience caused. Esk Pike is in one of the most private areas of the park and is very much a home away from home. The secluded and covered hot tub is a real bonus and brings guests back year after year. We are so pleased you had a lovely week and we hope to welcome you back in the future.

Me and my daughter had a lovely relaxing stay at EskPike. The location was secluded and peaceful and the Hot Tub was fantastic, especially as it was in its own enclosed section for privacy.
We found it very welcoming and homely but I did struggle for comfort in the beds and this resulted in a poor sleep pattern through our stay.
The cabin was clean and tidy, but I feel the outside could have been cleaned down and freed from all the cobwebs etc.
As a whole we really enjoyed our stay and definitely returned home relaxed and refreshed as planned.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Hot tub, especially the privacy of it.

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Bowness is lovely and only up the road.

Stayed here with my partner for a week. It was perfect. So comfortable, at the top of the holiday park so you really don’t feel like you’re part of the park - in a good way. It’s nice and secluded. It’s a traditional designed lodge, with a really nice living space and comfy beds. The hot tub is just fantastic. It’s under an enclosure so can be enjoyed in any weather in total privacy. Really took the lodge up a level.

The oooonly thing id say is the bathroom could do with a bit of updating. But it’s not like you’re there for long. It’s in no way a deal breaker at all.

A perfect lodge and a perfect experience.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The hot tub

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Take your car out and enjoy all the walks!

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our short break in Esk Pike Lodge. The lodge is very well-equipped and had everything we needed during our stay. With commanding views over the park, the lodge is nestled into a small wooded area. We found the lodge to be very clean and tidy, as well as being extremely cosy on the colder evenings. The position of the hot tub is fantastic, as we were able to listen to birdsong while watching the sun go down on several occasions, which was extremely relaxing. It really is the perfect place to stay in the lakes and we wouldn't hesitate to book again.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The location of the lodge and the hot tub.

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
The lodge is within reasonable walking distance of Bowness, which saved having to park the car at a very busy time of year.

Enjoyed a fabulous weekend at Esk Pike Lodge. The lodge was very cosy and comfortable, the hot tub was great and liked the fact that it was secluded. Ideal location as a short bus ride to Windamere or Ambleside, bus stop just outside the park.
The amenities on the park were great we didn't use the pool but did have a drink in the bar/ clubhouse. The food looked good and was reasonably priced. There is also a little shop on site which was useful. Overall a great weekend.

We stayed here for our honeymoon as we've always wanted to stay in a traditional log cabin and this did not disappoint. On first arrival the reception was so friendly clean and looked so picturesque. As we were approaching our cabin we were amazed at how private and spacious it was with lovely views through all the trees it just felt cozy before we got through the door. The inside of the cabin was very well kept clean tidy and again every room was cozy with nice little finishing touches. We didn't expect board games and a selection of dvds in the livingroom this was a nice little touch for family's. The hot tub was amazing, clean and a lovely experience to sit under the little hut which made the hot tub private even though nobody was over looking it anyway but it was a nice finishing touch. We loved every minute of it and are that impressed we are thinging of bringing our girls back in the future. Thank you for a lovely stay.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Everything the whole stay was perfect

Our stay in Esk Pike lodge was just what we needed: peaceful, relaxed and comfortable. The lodge was so cosy and in a gorgeous location on the site, with a lovely view over the trees. We were incredibly lucky with the weather (25°C and sun every day!) so we spent almost every evening on the beautiful wrap around balcony, enjoying the lake district night air next to the twinkling lights in the trees. We even used the hottub, despite the heat! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would love to make the long journey up to the lakes to visit again!

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The site was so peaceful, especially in the wooded area where our lodge was. It was also in an amazing location, close enough to lots of fun attractions, walks and pretty towns!

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Fell Foot Park is a really lovely spot for swimming and relaxing, and there's a fun (if hilly!) walk that starts from there!

We also note your further comment regarding gifts on arrival - we can indeed arrange for delivery of fizz, chocolates or flowers to be delivered to the lodge at the request of a guest prior to a stay. Perhaps worth noting for future reference. Esk Pike is a traditional log cabin with hot tub and located in a secluded area of the park. Perfect for a romantic getaway or simply as a base to explore the Lakes.

Esk Pike is a lovely cosy lodge located in a quiet area of the park, this was our first visit to the lodge and we will definitely be returning . The hot tub was fantastic to relax in at the end of the day so is a bonus . The lodge provided most things I would like to suggest that a maiden would have been most helpful to dry out the towels and clothing this would be a great addition as there was nowhere to hang wet items this was the only thing that I can have a negative comment about as everything else was just perfect for a relaxing break . A good day out was had at Aira Force , lots of different walks and beautiful water falls . I would definitely recommend a stay at this cosy lodge

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The location of lodge , hot tub

The lodge we had was by far the best, secluded surrounded by nature, amazing! The ONLY thing I could mention is jacuzzi water smells so much of bleach we couldn't open the window just next to it from the bedroom because the smell was unbearable at night even with the cover on jacuzzi, but this minor thing didn't stop us enjoying our holiday there, and some staff had attitude but it's expected anywhere, otherwise amazing lodge and location! Will stay again

Beautiful cabin perfect for couples or families with older children. Unfortunately as we have a 1&2 year old it wasn't very practical. (No room for travel cot in 2nd room, lots of nick nacks that little people want just because they know they aren't allowed.) Of course these are purely issues we experienced due to our own circumstances and not a reflection of the lodge itself and only mentioned for those in a similar circumstance that may be looking.
The hot tub was an absolute delight! For a lodge/caravan park. This is the most private you can get. It was bliss! Would have been amazing to eat out on the balcony on a morning but we had poor weather. The on-site facilities are decent enough. Food wasn't the best at the bar but your literally 10min drive from bowness and Windermere where there's plenty of places to go. But for a few social drinks the on-site bar is ideal with entertainment on a evening. There a spar, swimming pool and outdoor play areas for kids and even a small arcade room. A shop too but it closes around 5.
The cabin was lovely and snug for a evening. But the double bed was like sleeping on a rock. However the spare room beds were very comfortable.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Hot tub and privacy

Thank you for your review Maria and we were pleased to hear you all had an enjoyable stay at Esk Pike. The second twin bed is a little shorter so it fits comfortably in the twin bedroom. We are glad it didn't impact too much on your stay. Esk Pike is a hugely popular, traditional lodge which enjoys a superb private location with the benefit of a covered hot tub. We do hope you will return again in the future.

We really love staying at this lodge. We stayed last year also, and find it has everything we need. It's cosy, comfortable, quiet and perfect for winding down and relaxing for a few days.
We love the outdoor hot tub and all the outside space on the decking.
We also find it to be in a perfect position as it is close to the local towns of Ambleside and Windermere, yet when at the lodge it is so quiet and peaceful.
The reception staff are also excellent in responding to any questions or issues, and are very friendly and welcoming.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?

A lovely log cabin with traditional decor in a great location for peace and quiet.
It was smaller than the lodges we've stayed in previously, however the location was a massive bonus keeping us very private and away from passing walkers.
The bedrooms are excellent with more than enough space for 4 people, however this lodge is more suited to people who will be out and about through the day as there's limited space in the room on the one corner sofa if there's bad weather and you need TV time. There are seats outside on the amazing decking space which are lovely to relax on, however these are quite a bit away from the door so you can't socialise together for those who are sat inside.
Our dogs loved the spacious (and secure) decking to capture the sun on after our long walks around Windermere and the lodge showed no signs of ever having dogs in, it was immaculately clean.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The location, it's very much a private space

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Walking around the pony meadow early doors to capture the deer, including fawn and stags, all grazing and enjoying the space. All found within the White across Bay park

Thank you for the lovely review, Kelley. We were so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay at Esk Pike. We have passed on your comments about the size of sofa to the lodge owners for their consideration, although it is a large sofa that seats 4 people – our apologies if it caused any inconvenience. That aside the lodge is a very cosy log cabin and set in one of the quietest areas of the park - peace and tranquillity, just what is needed for a relaxing break. Not forgetting the secluded hot tub which is ideal after a day out exploring the Lakes. It is the perfect retreat for couples or families looking to escape to the countryside. We look forward to you returning in the near future.

Stayed for 1 week with our 2 boys and dog and first impression on arrival at the lodge was Wow! It was everything we had hoped for, clean, lots of lovely little touches and we all had an amazing week here. The kids absolutely loved the hot tub, which was undercover and just wonderful, and we all didnt want to leave when the time came to go home! Would definitely recommend for the location, just a peaceful little haven. Only disappointment is finding out that pets will no longer be allowed for any new bookings..such a shame as we were planning to return next year and also recommend this lodge to family who have dogs too. Beautiful location though, so secluded and quiet and glad we chose for our first stay in the beautiful Lakes!

Thank you very much for your kind review, Hilary. We were delighted to hear you all enjoyed an amazing week and the lodge catered for all your needs and more. A traditional log cabin in the woods, idyllic for your first time in the lakes. Due to the lodge owners wanting to use the lodge more often they have decided not to accept dogs from next year. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause although there are some lovely alternatives for you to consider. That aside we were very pleased to hear the lodge made a lasting impression – A very homely lodge with a secluded hot tub in a peaceful location. We look forward to welcoming you for many more visits to the Lakes.

Thank you for your lovely comments and for giving such great ratings, Michelle. We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and took advantage of the countryside and found some great walks. The lodge is a super choice set in the quietest area of the park and has the most delightful feel – a real traditional log cabin in the woods. Very cosy accommodation and having the bonus of a secluded hot tub – perfect romantic retreat. We look forward to having you stay with us again in the near future (complete with your loyalty discount!)

Before arriving we had received plenty of useful information so when we arrived we knew where to go and what to bring with us. The lodge was lovely and clean, very homely and had plenty of information about what to do in the local area, local shops, pubs etc. The situation was in a lovely quiet area of the park, but was only a few mins walk to the lake. There was work going on with the lodge next door, but they were very courteous and it didn't affect us. The hot tub was a very pleasant addition and enjoyed in the sunny evenings!

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Relaxing quiet environment

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?

Helpful reception staff who provided a map of the park, the lodge was clean. The white cross bay park was lovely, able to get down to the lake easily and there is a lovely walk through the woods where you might glimpse some deer. The food at the on site bar was not of a high standard and was overpriced in our opinion. The bed in the main bedroom needs replaced or at least the mattress does. There are beautiful walks nearby and lots of activities to do and lots of dog friendly places which was nice to see. Overall a pleasant holiday but we probably wouldn't return due to distance.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The walks and the lake.

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Go to Pedros (walk as they do lovely cocktails)

Thank you for leaving a review of your stay at Esk Pike, Matthew. We were sorry to hear you felt the double bed was uncomfortable. We do find comfort is very much a personal preference and we haven’t had any similar comments. That said we will pass on make the owners aware of your comments.. The bar and restaurant facilities at White Cross Bay are provided by the park owners and we will pass on your comments for their consideration. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. We are pleased you went on to have a pleasant stay and enjoyed some lovely walks, the Lake District is beautiful at this time of the year. The lodge is in a great location for popping down to the lake and it has the added bonus of a secluded hot tub, the perfect way to relax after all the walking.

Not as modern as some of the other lodges, a bit dated in decor, lots of 'nik naks' (dust collectors). On the plus side it was set back and peaceful, quite secluded and private compared to others. The hot tub and outdoor seating area was great. Booking was easy.

Hot tub

Very kind of you to write a review, Patricia. Thank you. We are pleased you had a pleasant stay in one of our most secluded and peaceful lodges. We find Esk Pike very popular with our guests for that reason and for the experience of a traditional log cabin in the woods. Delighted you enjoyed the hot tub, such a treat after a long day. If you are thinking of returning, please give our bookings team a call and we would be happy to go through some of our other lodges with you. (And of course complete with your loyalty discount). Kind regards

Me and my girlfriend and dog stayed here on the 8th April to the 11th April 2016. The lodge is set high up in a lovely peaceful location on white Cross bay. Upon arrival we were quite set back on how lovely and cosy the lodge was. The lodge smelt lovely too. Me and the Mrs had a look round and found the inviting hot tub all ready. Lovely clean lodge hot tub was amazing, was never out of it. Our dog Stella enjoyed the great veranda. Definitely coming back again only this time for longer.

We stayed at the Esk pike lodge for the Easter bank holiday weekend the location of the lodge was fantastic and very private and was very cosy the only downfall was that we had no hot water for the whole weekend we had a maintenance man who came out to look very quickly after reporting the fact though stated due to the park being so busy this was resulting in us having no hot water this would be our only fault as everything else was amazing the hot tub was a lovely relaxing experience and the facilities on site where really good there was a pub within a few minutes walk serving lovely food and we were very close to pubs and nice restaraunts just off site I would recommend this lodge to people looking for a irelaxing break and I wish we had booked longer we cannot wait to return in the near future.

This is our second stay at Esk Pike and we could see the owners had made improvements since our last visit. There is a new storage seat under the varander so even if it's raining you can still sit out and watch the trees!! One night a deer was looking through our lounge window, and there are rabbits hopping around and plenty of birds. If you want a quieter retreat away from noise then this is the perfect place for you.

Esk Pike was a nice lodge but my one comment would be that the kitchen is in dire need of renovating, the fridge has gone through the wooden stand it is on and was unstable, a drawer was broken and another cupboard door didn't shut properly. I will also say that the fridge was mouldy and the cleanliness of the kitchen was not good.

In the same vain the bathroom too could do with some care and attention.

The lounge was lovely, really comfortable and cosy and the hot tub had a lot of use!

Thank you for reviewing your stay at Esk Pike. We were unaware of a couple of minor maintenance andalthough not reported during your stay these have now been fixed and we appreciate you bringing them to our attention. Your comments about the cleanliness and condition of the kitchen in particular are at odds with other comments and feedback received about the lodge. Esk Pike is a smaller, traditional cabin which has a charm that many more modern lodges don't have. It is very popular as it enjoys a lovely secluded and private location within the park. Glad to hear you enjoyed using the hot tub.

The lodge was great and the hot tub fantastic, the only two things I would have a little moan about were the location of the lodge, it did say quite and good for families and that was what we were looking for but with the kids aged 8 & 6 and wanted to go out on there bikes it was a very steep hill that the lodge is located on. The other thing was with the lodge being Dog friendly I thought we would be Okay to leave him there when we were going out for a few hours but that's not the case you cant leave them on there own, with the weather being good and hot we were very limited on what we could do as the Dog was always in the car if you were out and about in the towns shopping etc..

Apart from my 2 little moans everything was fantastic and will defiantly be back but I will put the dog in the kennels and book a lodge that's on flat ground for the kids on there bikes.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Hot Tub

Thank you for reviewing your recent stay at Esk Pike and delighted to hear you had an enjoyable stay. Sorry you were hampered by not being able to leave your dog in the lodge. This is pointed out in our terms and conditions at the time of booking and is stipulated in the rules which are set by the park owners. Esk Pike is very popular with couples and families looking for a more private and secluded setting but the location is not necessarily ideal for children who wish to play outside. White Cross Bay does offer plenty of space for children to play in a safe environment including the outdoor multi sports court. We will be delighted to arrange another stay at Esk Pike stay in the future (complete with your special returning guests discount).

My girlfriend and I stayed at Esk Pike last weekend and had the best holiday. The log cabin was lovely and secluded, and set against a picturesque background. Great lodge to stay in. Fantastic surroundings in the area, only a 10 minute drive to the local villages.

Jacuzzi was a highlight.

Only concerns were with the comfort of the mattress and poor wifi signal.

Would definitely recommend.

Thank you for kindly reviewing your recent stay at Esk Pike. Sorry to hear the mattress wasn't as comfortable as you would have liked but this can be a personal choice. The free wifi provided by the park can occasionally be a little hit and miss although it has been upgraded recently. Delighted to note you enjoyed the secluded, covered hot tub at the lodge.

We had a great time, the lodge was lovely, even though we stayed at the end of october the lodge was warm and cosy and the hot tub was amazing in the evenings. Very peaceful and quiet, loved that we were not overlooked.
We found the brockhole visitor centre easy to walk to and went on the lake cruise which was very enjoyable.
The visitor center has loads to do and made a great day out, the site itself was nice, pool was good, staff helpful
Not much for children but dont think its that kind of site, the shop was ok, small but had basics.
We had a lovely time and would return again.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
Time out. We spent quality time as a family. Hot tub was a winner.

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Walk to brockhole, dont drive as parking is quite expensive and its not too far.

Beautiful retreat the log cabin was very cosy and had everything you needed, loved the swing seat in the garden. The hot tub was absolutely brilliant lovely and clean.
The cleanliness of the log cabin could be better, for me that let it down as you wouldn't book into a hotel room and pay £100 per night and expect to see dust on the bed head and doors and the shower cubicle soap holder hadn't been cleaned. One of the dressing table stool legs was very loose so you had to be careful when sitting on that.

My husband and I stayed at Esk Pike for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it! Perfect location for peace and quiet. Lodge was beautiful however the outside could do with a cob web sweep! Hot tub was fantastic and just what you need after a hard day of doing nothing except enjoying the wildlife and beautiful surroundings. We will be back next year for a longer stay!

As we approached I knew we were going to love it here! The lodge was surrounded on three sides by woodland. There were rabbits all over, within the first hour we saw a deer, and at night we watched bats flying around, brilliant for animal lovers like us, the location was perfect,an elevated position and not overlooked even tho there were other lodges around. The lodge itself was lovely inside, cosy and clean. The hot tub was a wonderful bonus, very private and covered.A short walk down to the marina is a must,I sat with the dog as they paddled and even caught a tiddler! A word of caution tho, don't let yr dog go in water as ours did and had a sneaky drink and we were up all night with her being poorly. There is a notice up warning of this danger of algae to dogs but it is very small,so maybe that could be made more promenant. We went to Ambleside, five minutes away, and into Bowness where we had a lovely cruise. One night we went to the Hole In T'wall in Windermere for a meal and it was superb. All in all a great five days, fantastic weather, location and helpful staff should you need them. If you want to sit out on the decking with a cuppa in the morning and see deers walking down the path and bunnies around then this is the place for you! We are already planning a return next year but for a bit longer.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The wildlife, the hot tub and the quiet location.

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
A cruise in Bowness is a must .

From the moment we got there until the time we left we had a very relaxing holiday, Esk Pike has everything you need for your time staying there. We used the Hot Tub every night and after our days out it was very relaxing, there was a storm one night it didn't bother us to stay in it as it is covered. We sat on the decking quite a few times and it was lovely to see wildlife( wild rabbits, birds and I even saw a deer).

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
All of it... Just So Relaxing :-)

From booking to departure, Lake District Lodge Holidays were faultless in their customer service. Excellent communications throughout the booking process and the days leading up to our stay at the Lodge! (We even got a text message on the day of arrival wishing us a lovely holiday and kind weather...a really nice touch!) The lodge itself was perfect for a couple looking for a romantic and relaxing week away from the stresses of every day life. Great location with plenty of wildlife. Outdoor hot tub with a wooden gazebo protecting it. There are lodges close by but due to the positioning of the Lodge it was still very private and extremely quiet. It had everything you could need and was like a home from home. The only criticism I have was that everything was stored everywhere and you had to go hunting for things...we didn't find the iron until our second to last day! Perhaps a laminated list of where things are located could be put in the kitchen/hallway? (Iron, first aid kit, parasol, fuse box etc) to make it easier to locate things for guests. There were a few lightbulbs that needed replacing but I'm really scraping the barrel for faults there because generally everything was excellent. We had a power/electric trip during out of office hours but Mark from Lake District Lodge Holidays was fantastic and with his quick response and advice had everything back up and running within 15 mins. Again, another example of excellent customer service from Lake District Lodge Holidays! I would definitely highly recommend both Lake District Lodge Holidays and Esk Pike 9 lodge if you are looking to stay in the Lake District, and I certainly will be booking with them again in the future. Thank you for a pleasurable stay. Lee.

What did you enjoy most about your stay?
The hot tub and wooded gazebo protecting it from the elements. Private and Quiet location.

What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests?
Bowness on Windermere is nice. Especially around the lake. Also there is a bus stop outside the park that offers a 'rover' ticket for only £7 which allows you bus travel all day long to various different towns and villages around the central lakes such as Ambleside.
