THE CLOCKING IN HOUSE

The Clocking In House is one of five converted out buildlings at Torr Vale Mill. As the name suggests, this historic cottage was where over the centuries, the mill workers would report to clock in for work. This quirky one bedroom property has the original office partitions and there’s still a punching in clock in the kitchen! The kitchen and sitting area has a wall of windows looking out to the mill and is a great place to enjoy a relaxing weekend.

Imaginative conversion

Great use of an industrial heritage site. Striking and interesting. The site was quiet and the cottage
really comfortable and very well equipped. The use of partitions within the Clocking In House was clever giving the space an easy flow without losing its cosiness. Great kitchen facilities - really useful having a full sized fridge/freezer and a slimline dishwasher. The quality of the utensils was variable but the kitchen had everything - from a butter dish to pots , pans graters - the lot! The bathroom floor was stone so a bit chilly on the feet - slippers very necessary. But we were warned about that so thankfully we were well prepared. We made use of The Shrub Club - great to have that just across the yard. The nearby walking was so much more spectacular than we'd envisaged. A great location for exploring the Peak District and surrounds. We would love to come back - we'd not hesitate to choose Torr Vale Mill again. Intrigued by the other cottages too!

Torr Vale Mill was a very interesting and unusual property. It was ideal for our needs for visiting New Mills.

We enjoyed our time at the Clocking In House, the first holiday for ages without children in tow, weather permitting we spent most of it walking the dog in various locations (Goyt Water Meadows, Lyme Park, Ladybower Reservoir & Wentworth Castle Gardens).

The accommodation was clean and adequate for our needs for a week stay, needs a bit of finishing decoration wise (bigger curtains to cover the main window as well as the internal window into the bedroom, visible lack of paintwork behind some fittings). The bathroom had a good shower, although the cubicle may be a bit tight for some, could do with a towel rail as the towels don't dry too well.

Wifi was working on our arrival, but was mainly unavailable for the majority of our stay, this coupled with the lack of BBC channels on the TV meant restricted viewing options.

We had a lovely weeks stay relaxing here. Accommodation was comfortable and decorated well with everything we wanted. We enjoyed daily local walks and then evenings relaxing in the accommodation.
