We spent 3 night wonderful nights at The Buoys. The location was perfect and the house was just what we needed, plenty of space for 5 adults and all the facilities meet our needs. My father particularly liked looking through all the interesting books about the local area and being walking distance from The Pilot, a pub he frequented when he worked in the area over 50 years ago. I would highly recommend staying here, everything was well thought through and it felt warm and homely.

A nice few days at the Buoys in Lydd between Dungeness and New Romney

The Buoys is a pleasant 3 bedroom small house / converted bungalow right on the Coast Road between Dungeness and New Romney. The road is right in front of the house - so you always have the noise of cars - but beyond that is the pebbly beach which is peaceful even in the school holidays and when the tide goes out is full of different sea birds. The back garden is pebbly too and gives lovely sunsets and has the miniature railway going along the back fence. Slightly wobbly paving stones on the patio that you need to watch out for and we couldn't work out how to lock the front door from outside so ended up leaving from the back, but maybe we had missed something there. Dungeness is a 30 minute walk up the road (not a particularly interesting walk along the road although maybe there is a way to go along the backs of the houses) but not far to the Pilot or the Snack Shack. Everything was fine with the house - nice retro furniture and it's well equipped with everything in the kitchen in terms of utensils and crockery - there was an issue when we stayed that a tap wasn't working but we were provided with bottled water and it wasn't an issue. We were also left some treats when we arrived although I thought the provision of essentials could have been better - 6 tea bags for 2 people staying 4 nights and other than that only coffee, salt and pepper - was not much when the nearest shop is half a mile away. (The Air BnB description mentioned oil and it would have been annoying to arrive without that). The rooms were comfortable, I would think for 6 people the living room and kitchen might have been a little crowded, and we were lucky that it was warm enough to eat outside as the dining table was in the kitchen which wouldn't have been so nice to have dinner in. It was nice sitting at the front in the small sun room with the breeze from the beach on hot days and there are also lots of books which would be perfect for taking down to the beach. Overall a nice little place to stay with several options for other nearby places to visit.

Thank you for your feedback. We have passed your comments on to the owners who have addressed the 'wobbly' paving stones which they were not aware of, and the tap has now been fixed. The starter supply of tea/coffee etc is to allow guests to make a drink on arrival, otherwise guests should bring all self catering provisions with them.

We booked The Buoys for some staff who were working on a archaeological project in the local area. The team at Bloom Stays could not have been more helpful with organising this and the property suited all of their needs. Fantastic location, beautiful interior and all the amenities required. Would definitely book again!
