Very nice week - accommodation just what we needed and matched the description. Not too far from the ferry & excellent for public transport - we used the 'go cards' for 5 days and travelled all over the island.

We had a lovely half-term break in Waverley Cottage - would definitely recommend to other families! Good location, (though the drive could be better designed to easily accommodate more than one car!) Lovely spacious interior, with all the home comforts you would need. We didn't use the garden as we stayed during the winter and it was still pretty cold out, but that is a lovely addition for the warmer months; especially for children!

Handy for Laxey Beach & Beyond

We chose this location since it is ideal for Laxey Beach which is just a few minutes walk away down the hill. The bungalow has three decent sized bedrooms and was clean and comfortable, and there is ample off road parking for two medium sized cars. An Italian restaurant and a pub is within a five minute walk, and there are a couple of beach cafés also within easy walking distance.
From the bungalow, the famous Laxey wheel can be reached on foot in about 30 minutes, and a little closer is the electric railway interchange where trams to Douglas, Ramsey and the Snaefell Mountain can be caught.
On a negative point, the bathroom ceiling could do with a lick of paint, and the kitchen, although well stocked would benefit from a couple more saucepans for guests intending to cook, but that is the only criticism I have and this did not detract from the fact that the overall experience was really good.

Waverley is extremely comfortable and well equipped (although no Washing Machine which could be a problem for some).The location is near perfect for Laxey tram station which has connections to all parts of the island. Although limited Pub/Restaurant availability at time of our visit this is to greatly improve with the imminent refurbishment of the Shore Hotel in Laxey. We would certainly like to return to this property at some future date. This was our fourth visit to IOM since 2007 and by far the best!

Very nice clean bungalow, with everything you might need (washing machine not a problem for us), a welcome pack of essentials, milk, cheese, bread and spread was a lovely surprise.

Dishwasher was a bonus.

tO HILLY FOR OUR MEN FOLK. THE SHOWER NEEDS SOME ATTENTION AS THE SHOWER HEAD IS ALL OVER THE PLACE. NEEDS A NEW SHED.

The cottage became very warm during the heatwave and a couple of fans would have helped. Not too many windows!
DVD player not there though according to one description one was supposed to be available.
Low height of extractor over hot plate gave a few banged heads.
However, cottage is still excellent value and very pleasant!

Waverley is in the perfect spot for going to all points on the island . Convenient for the beach, for trams and for the Snaefell railway.
It was everything we needed for our week away and would happily book again if we were to return.

the flush will only flush on full which wasted a lot of water

THIS COTTAGE SHOULD COME WITH SOME HEALTH WARNINGS
1 LIVING WITHOUT A WASHING MACHINE FOR A WEEK IS NO JOKE ESPECIALLY WHEN THE LAUNDRY IS EFFECTIVELY CLOSED MID-WEEK - WE WERE LUCKY INASMUCH THAT THE WEATHER WAS FINE FOR OUTDOOR DRYING. IN SUCH A BIG KITCHEN AREA, THE LACK OF SUCH A BASIC PIECE OF EQUIPMENT IS INEXPLICABLE.
2 THE COTTAGE IS TOTALLY UNSUITABLE FOR OLDER, LESS MOBILE VISITORS AND PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN AS THE OUTDOOR AREAS PRESENT FREQUENT STEPS AND POTENTIAL TRIP AND FALL HAZARDS
3 THE KITCHEN IS HUGE, WITH THE CAPACITY TO PREPARE BANQUETS FOR LARGE GROUPS BUT LACKS SOME VERY BASIC IMPLEMENTS LIKE A LIFT FOR FRIED EGGS AND A GRIP FOR FRIED SAUSAGES IE ONE THAT ACTUALLY WORKS
POINT 3 IS INCONVENIENT AND ALMOST TRIVIAL BUT POINTS 1 AND 2 ARE IMPORTANT AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED.

Wow! We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Waverley. The bungalow is well equipped with a lovely garden and more than adequate off road parking. It feels spacious and has been very well maintained.
It is very dog friendly - our little lad loved it!
For those preferring not to drive, it is a 3 minute walk to the local stop on the electric railway, with a bus stop only a minute or two further up the hill. Both provide good connections to buses / the steam train serving other parts of the Isle of Man.
It is also only a short walk (downhill) to the harbour and shore, which boasts a good pub and two cafes, both with sea views. Also an Italian restaurant.
If space permitted a washing machine would be great for longer stays, but given the configuration of the kitchen this might be difficult to install.

On arrival cottage appeared clean. However on closer inspection the cleanliness wasn’t up to my expectations or standards. Black mould round shower tray and mouldy shower mat that should have been replaced before guests arrived. It’s a shame as the shower room is quite new but this wasn’t great to see or shower in.

Kitchen cupboard fronts were sticky in some places so a good wash with sugar soap would sort that. Plenty of kitchen items but some need replacing I.e. the mugs. The oven needs steam cleaning as there is burnt on fat that smells when turned on.

I think the cleaning had been rushed as very dusty floors. If these things were resolved then it’s a great place to stay just a few tweaks needed. The owners have been let down .

Would definitely recommend this property, great location for village, shop, pub and sea front. Although you must note this property is on a hill so maybe a slow walk home from the pub.
Excellent condition with all the usual facilities and a large power shower.

Good location in Old Laxey, comfortable, spacious. Kids appreciated the board games and there were lots of books you could read. Heating good. Nice garden. Would stay again.
