Crown Cottage is a classic 16th Century Suffolk cottage, in a commanding position in Stoke-by-Nayland, one of the county’s prettiest villages. Originally three cottages and a bakehouse, Crown Cottage has been lovingly converted into a well-proportioned and generously sized house with a private garden. With original period features and a recent redecoration, the cottage exudes the perfect balance between old world charm and modern comfort. Being just a stone’s throw away from two of the area’s best pubs, a bookshop and a charming village store, Crown Cottage offers a warm village experience surrounded by the stunning Suffolk countryside that families and gathering friends alike are sure to fall in love with.

A comfortable week in what is a pleasant cottage but in need of some updating and maintenance. In a good postion for the Dedham Vale but the road through the village can get busy at peak times. Excellent village shop opposite (adding to the traffic situation) and supermarket and farm shop within 10-15 minute drive. Pub next door didn't really cause any disturbance but you can smell cooking constantly the garden- not necessarily unpleasant but did make me hungry. The courtyard garden is pleasant but needed maintenance and the lean-to covered area is a bonus especially when it is raining. The oil delivery was due during our week and whilst not a problem to receive it we were concerned about it running out which inhibited our use of the heating a bit- I think it could have been ordered before anyone staying. In all we felt some maintenance could have been done during the lockdown and prior to opening up.
Dedham Vale is a beautiful area as is most of Suffolk (our first visit to the area). So much so we are considering relocating to Suffolk. Idyllic Suffolk communication's were good with easy transactions.

Crown Cottage was warm and welcoming, the property has so much charm and history, it was fascinating.
The rooms are spacious with plenty of seating, The kitchen is well appointed with everything needed. A log basket was provided so that we could enjoy the open fire on the cold winter nights. Also the welcome basket was a nice touch.
The village is lovely and has lots of amenities but is only minutes away from major towns and roads. I would certainly stay here again.
