We had a brilliant weekend staying at The Lookout. The accommodation was very well-equipped for our family of four with two young children. The property is slightly tired in places, but overall was very comfortable and clean. We had an excellent meal at The Cow and managed two trips to the Farm Park which has plenty to do even in the very cold weather! We'd love to return in the summer and try some of the other accommodation and activities.

The Lookout is great for a little country get-away. Nestled in Tappnell Farms grounds, close by to the facilities but such a peaceful place. Great views from the lounge, kitchen accros to Freshwater.

Stayed at the end of August, a last minute booking, after 2 failed attempts due to injuries earlier in year. The accommodation staff have been really helpful throughout our 3 bookings and helped where they could. As this was last minute, the day before, we didn't have the choice but The Lookout is a great option for a family as long as you can get on with the upside down house layout. The house is bright and comfortable for 4 people. The two downstairs bedrooms both have bathrooms off them, they are small and could do with a few more hooks and shelves, especially in master suite, but good for size. Master bedroom curtains do not keep out light unlike the twin room and with two large windows they could do with blackout blinds. Bed are comfy, double having a memory foam topper and twins are a little firmer but fine. Upstairs the open plan kitchen, dinning and living area is bright and spacious with two comfy couches a large TV with full NOW TV connectivity so we didn't have to use our firestick. The kitchen is a good size with most items but could do with a few more utensils, small pan/pots/sharp knives for those that eat in more. The milk, biscuits tea and coffee were welcome upon arrival and the daily eggs delicious. There is an upstairs toilet which is great but it does get a bit of getting use to being upside down. Outside there was a great BBQ, a large picnic table and small fire pit (could have been larger). It would have been nice to have some easy chairs to move close to the firepit, we used our picnic mat. There is plenty of parking but the area around the house is not secure so we had to keep our two dogs on the lead at all times. The location is great and very peaceful even during day when farm is in full swing. Its very close to the farm for all activities and The Cow restaurant which had fabulous food and good beer. The farm shop is OK a little expensive but has the basics. Freshwater is a 5 minute drive away with full supermarkets available. We certainly hope to come back again but for longer as there were may things we didn't get to see on our short visit.

We (two adults, one child) stayed at The Lookout at Tapnell Farm for 5 days because we were attending a big family wedding at the nearby East Afton Farm wedding venue (which is owned by the same people and was excellent). The location is fantastic; looking out over farmland to Tennyson Down in the distance it's a short drive to Compton Bay (good for surfing), Freshwater bay (good for swimming and sitting on) the river Yar (good for birdwatching, cycle / walking path to Yarmouth) and strolling round quaint villages (e.g.Yarmouth), and only 20 mins drive to the main town, Newport. It's on the quieter side of the island, away from the main tourist hotspots of Ryde, Sandown and Shanklin, which are heaving with people in the summer.
Tapnell Farm itself also has a lot of activities available on site; we did the aqua park, animal farm and Cow restaurant, which were all very good. Despite these being very close by the cottage was very quiet.
The wedding venue was only a 15-20 walk away, and we all walked back (one later on in the dark). One of us also went running on part of the 'Tapnell Trail' and river path (which in skimpy running shorts was a bit of a challenge in some short, overgrown, nettle strewn parts! But excellent none the less.
Given the above, and the fact that (as in our case) a lot of people who use the wedding venue stay there, it's not surprising that it's quite expensive, which is why we didn't stay any longer!
My 12 year old daughter said 'it was so slay, LOL' whatever that means!

We had a great week staying at The Lookout. We loved the views from the lounge across the countryside to the coast. Our children loved the farm park and we went every day! A highlight was movie night in the barn. We also enjoyed a lovely meal at The Cow. The location was great for exploring the west of the island, including The Needles and the beaches at Compton Bay and Freshwater. We were sad to leave and are keen to return.

A beautiful property in great condition. The location is perfect for enjoying the farm park, and the west of the island. Beautiful views. Very well equipped and a generous supply of tea, coffee etc. Some if the windows were difficult to open, which might be a problem in hot weather.

On the positive side: The lookout was a nice cottage, the top room is a great hang out area with the kitchen and lounge together and good views. Kitchen was great and really equipped. Milk tea and biscuits left for us. Tapnell Farm itself was great with tons of activities on offer that the kids loved.
On the other side: The main bedroom felt a bit cramped but it was fine, just not amazing. Our bath had a big patch of black mould in the corner that was a bit gross. When we arrived the floor upstairs felt sticky and left a residue on our feet but I called and the cleaners came and sorted it quickly. The floor downstairs was quite rough and uncomfortable to walk on.
Overall, it was fine but a bit more basic (mainly downstairs) than I’d hoped for.

We booked the Lookout in addition to the Manor House, to accommodate for our large group. Whilst we didn't spend much time making use of the facilities, we really enjoyed the warm and comforting amenities on-site.
Love the floor plan with bedrooms being downstairs, made for something very different. Would recommend to a small family wanting to use the place for a quiet getaway.

Tapnell Farm provided a perfect location for my husband and I to visit with our daughter and new grandchild. The house was immaculately clean and well stocked. The fact that my grandson loves the farm was a huge plus because we spent a lot of time there. The food at The Cow was awesome!

Overall the accommodation was really good. The location was really central to the farm and the Cow restaurant was really good for either eat in or take away. We tried Archery, Axe throwing and football golf and really enjoyed them all. Our only gripe was that the boiler was really noisy and as it was located in the twin room (where my kids were sleeping) so we had to turn it off overnight. Also some of the windows didn't close properly so there was the odd draught. All the staff at the farm were really kind and hospitable, great coffee from the lovely lady at the farm shop.

Fantastic location, great for kids. Great choice of accommodation so would be good for a large family group of all ages. Axe throwing and archery were good but would have liked more structure- as in competition between others - rather than just being left to just do it for an hour. The instructor was lovely. There was no reception and the only member of staff we saw was the lady in the farm shop who was extremely helpful getting us a microwave when it had been left out of our accommodation. Everything was extremely clean and we would definitely stay again.

The Loookout is aptly named with the bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs and the living area open plan upstairs. On the whole a well appointed property with stunning views across the countryside and if you are lucky, wonderful sunsets. The setting is very private with ample carparking and some outdoor space. Although close to the attractions of Tapnell Farm, the discreetness of the setting is such that you neither hear the activities nor are other visitors aware of the property.

We spent a short 3 nights break at Cottage2 as a family of 4 with two teenage children and had a perfect stay.
The cottage is very well located within the premises and offering an easy access to Tarpnell Farm. An easy access to local attractions and local beaches is also a great bonus of the location. Dinner at the Cows restaurant is highly recommend! Very clean and comfortable place, newly refurbished and offering a great space. Very friendly and helpful customer service on site at Tarpnel Farm. The cottage is great value for money-we would love to come back!

My son and I stayed at no 2 cottage for 5 nights. It has beautiful views of wheatfields, and although by a main road, we couldn't hear the cars. The kitchen is very spacious and well equipped and the living room has comfortable sofas. It is tastefully decorated and a relaxing place to stay, in an excellent location and with all the facilities of Tapnell Farm. We especially loved the Aqua Park and the food was fantastic at the Cow Restaurant.

Such a magical place and a stunning location for our wedding. Having the venue for 5 days allowed us to really enjoy the wedding preparation, something you just don’t get with other venues. The barns were just perfect and it meant the world to be able to house our closest friends and family in the farmhouse and adjoining annexe. Everyone was blown away by the standards of the rooms and the bonus of cinema room and hot tub.
Chloe and the team went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and our big day special, it felt like having additional friends with us.
Honestly I can’t recommend this place enough and hope we’re lucky enough to visit it again sometime.

Two separate aspects - the bell tents and the site couldn't have been better. Beautifully equipped with loads of considerate touches, the showers and facilities were near and clean and we were a stones throw from all the facilities. The view was stunning with the white cliffs visible. As. for what the farm had to offer - as a parent of two teenagers and two toddler boys , who knows the island and all it has to offer well , this was in a different league. Amazing barns slides zip wire tunnels - best petting animals and keepers we have ever seen and a fab soft play with Café....the restaurant was perfect in the evening Owners made a point of finding us to see all ok... Couldn't recommend enough and we will be back again at the kids and our own demand. This has the style and touch of a soho farmhouse but far more authentic environment and focus on kids

I received a personal text message to make sure I was prepared prior to my arrival and although there is no real check in, I felt I knew exactly what to do and was comforted that they were there if I needed them.
The bell tents themselves were amazing! Incredibly comfy beds with all the appliances you'd need for a proper glamping trip! And if you weren't up for cooking yourself, the Cow Co resturant which is just round the corner, is a superb place to go if you like beef! They also do the best hot chocolates, particularly the white one - yum!
