The Old Chequer is situated in the delightful hamlet of Draycott and is a Grade II listed, former 17th century public house, one of the oldest houses in the village, dating back to the 1600's.

The Old Chequer is beautiful cottage situated in a lovely location. From Drayton you can explore so many National Trust properties, Cotswolds Farm Park and villages like Bampton, Burton on the Water & Moreton in the Marsh. Once you've explored and are loaded up with goodies from the local farm shops, you can settle down in front of a log fire on comfortable sofas and relax. The old
stone floored kitchen has all the mod-cons and access to a well maintained garden with lovely planting, Our dog loved it and spent a lot of time sniffing and snuffling around, as we sat out on the patio. Both the well sized bedrooms have on suite bathrooms which is most handy and the beds are comfortable. We had a lovely 4 day break and felt right at home.

This was my third visit to this property and I have extended my stay twice. It is a comfortable with plenty of character in a lovely quiet village and perfectly located for visiting Broadway, Stow on the Wold, Burford and the surrounding area.
The garden furniture could do with a good scrub and the terrace needs a regular brush to make sitting outside more enjoyable but otherwise the garden is attractive and is perfect if you have a dog.
I hope to visit again

From the cottage we were able to enjoy several local public footpaths to the surrounding countryside and villages leaving the car behind.
The cottage was well appointed and comfortable for four adults in the party.

We would if it was absolutely child / dog friendly because of Brook opening to side of cottage easy for getting out & dangerous as near Rd also opening in bottom of hedge also not safe for children / dogs we know this as our dog got out we would love to come back

Super house and accommodation. Only improvements would be to have stock fencing in garden to make it dog proof and two sets of keys and key fobs for the gate

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and the accommodation was more than adequate for our needs. Our dog really enjoyed the stone floors in the warmer weather!
There was an issue of a leak from the dishwasher but after contacting Cotswold Hideaways a maintenance guy attended shortly afterwards and sorted the problem for us.
We would definitely recommend this property and would be happy to return in the future.

My wife and I plus our dog spent a lovely week in the Cotswolds staying at The Old Chequer. For us the location was ideal. Situated in a quiet village with a couple of walks from the cottage for our dog. But very close to Chipping Campden, Moreton-in-Marsh, Broadway and of course many other beautiful towns and villages. The cottage itself is surprisingly spacious and clearly has had a long history. The bedrooms and two bathrooms were very good, the kitchen and dining area just right for the two of us. A stand out feature of the property is its garden. Large and really well kept with a table and chairs that we sat at every day to relax and enjoy the quiet. We were lucky with the weather so therefore could make the most of this lovely garden. If or when we return to the Cotswolds we will definitely consider renting The Old Chequer again.

loved the location but the lounge furniture was very uncomfortable and the double bed sloped with the floor - disconcerting!

We had a lovely time in The Cotswolds. The location of The Old Chequer was perfect for us. The property itself was lovely and comfortable. Let down slightly by the overgrown patio and grubby garden furniture. It has a beautiful garden so it was a shame that it wasn't very tempting to sit outside.

This was a pretty old cottage which on the whole was very nice and clean. Just a couple of issues with the pretty garden. The garden furniture could of had a good clean especially as the weather was good so we wanted to sit outside. Also although details stated “enclosed garden and not secure” it wouldn’t take much to put some stock fencing all the way round which would blend into the shrubbery. The cottage is situated on the corner of a road so if a dog did get out it would be on the road. Also an outside light for the back garden would of helped. A small torch, however, was provided.
Nice kitchen but no cupboard space to put any food supplies. Dishwasher was broken which we were told about the day before we arrived. A new one was offered half was though our holiday which we declined as we didn’t want to be disturbed.

My family and I came to stay at the Old Chequer for our Christmas break and we were not disappointed. What an absolutely beautiful, charming and full of character property the Old Chequer was. The pictures do not do it justice.
The location was great and we even had a decorated Christmas tree, not to mention the welcome goodies left for us which were very much appreciated.
The Old Chequer was spotless and we would absolutely recommend staying here. Thank you :)

We were two couples looking to relax and spend time together after difficult 2 years. Location was ideal for us . Quiet yet short drive to town with large supermarket and many places to eat . The cottage had very large and clean bathrooms , kitchen /dining room which was perfect for 4 people. The lounge was cosy in the evenings especially with the fire lit . We were all delighted as it felt very homely ,comfortable and relaxing.

Lovely stay with our leonberger pup cottage was very clean plenty of space beds very comfortable and lovely. Great garden for dog and peaceful and quiet. Only minor criticism is a outdoor light at the back as you cannot see your dog at night time - they did provide a torch tho And not the comfiest sofa which also felt damp - if planning to sit in a lot but would definitely book again

The Old Chequer is a lovely property, full of charm and character. Everything was spotless and the property was well equipped for our stay. We were pleased to find milk and other basic items when we arrived which meant we didnt have to rush to find a shop. The property is in beautiful rural surroundings and very quiet, but not too far from Moreton in Marsh. We would definitely stay again. Thank you.

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful cottage. Great location, near to great walks and Morton in the Marsh where there is a lovely market on Tuesdays
The garden at the cottage is beautiful and relaxing and was great for the dogs.
The cottage has great amenities and all you would want
The only plus would be a downstairs loo but not a game changer

This was a lovely property. Ideal to have two bathrooms for two bedrooms. The large garden was nicely kept and the large table and chairs in the terrace enabled us to have our meals there.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Chequer, it was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with a lovely garden. The location was excellent for many of the Cotswold villages. We would have no hesitation in returning.

We had a wonderful stay at this property for 4 nights over New Year. It’s in a lovely sleepy village & has parking for two cars. Great location to discover the Cotswolds from.
We were welcomed by a huge hamper of food and wine & even treats for our dog. Whoever was there over Christmas had also left a full cheese plate inc grapes & crackers! There was also milk, apple juice & Prosecco in the fridge. Local butter and fresh loaf of bread!
The beds were very comfortable & showers fantastic - the heating worked very well, but we definitely needed the log fire on in the evenings in the sitting room.
The only negatives were a broken chair, the back door was very stiff to open and shut (and we didn’t want to break it!) & if you take your dog don’t let it off the lead in the garden!! Our dog escaped through the hedge in a flash & was running up the main road...luckily we got him back. A bit scary/ frustrating when the property advised as dog friendly.
Otherwise would recommend & go back.
Thank you for a lovely stay.

It certainly might be a property that to buy would be expensive but the interior certainly wasn't of the standard we have had with other luxury cottages. Curtains scrufffy, rugs in poor condition and hazard in kitchen. An oven that we were unable to work, no storage cupboard for food, no wardrobe for clothes in master. Kiln dried logs would be helpful to provide . Brochure didn't indicate that the property was adjoined to cottage of owner neither. We love the Cotswolds and service from provider good as responded immediately. However we won't use this cottage again. It is in our opinion standard and should be rented as that. The hamper was much appreciated as were the shower and heating arrangements .

We found the Old Chequer ideal for our short stay. We very quickly settled in including the dogs. We enjoyed having breakfast and drinks in the garden. Local footpaths were good and many of the places we wished to visit were a short drive away. The contents of the hamper were much appreciated.
