Charming cottage in a beautiful setting, with stunning views of Loch Etive to the front, and inquisitive cows in the field behind. Perfectly positioned to enjoy the best of the countryside, with the town of Oban and nearby villages just a short drive away. A wonderful place to relax and unwind and although I did have to work from home sometimes, it worked out fine.

Highly recommended!

The cottage, and its views across beautiful Loch Etive, exceeded expectations. Rhoda welcomed us on arrival & she with her husband were on hand for any problems eg the newish looking toaster decided to expire & was quickly replaced.
The cottage was spotlessly clean & in excellent decorative order with new looking shower rooms etc. The beds were very comfortable & the leather lounge suite new & good quality.
Our weather was mixed sunshine & showers but the lounge got the sun most of the day & we enjoyed a spot of bird watching (binoculars provided) & saw a deer in the field behind a couple of times. With cooler temperatures the flame effect fire was relatively easy to use but some of the other heaters (storage & convector) looked more complicated (I was interested as we have older versions in a holiday lodge) manufacturers sometimes overthink the technology!
The situation of the cottage near Connel Bridge is again excellent. There is a shop in the village itself (near the station) for essentials or alternatively at Benderloch accessed via a short cut further along. Larger supermarkets in nearby Oban. Good places to eat nearby & touring in several directions was easy, including to the head of Loch Etive via the "Skyfall" road.
Lastly, Rhoda & her husband went above & beyond by offering a parking space for my sister's car when we took just 1 car on the ferry to Barra. Many thanks to them both for their welcoming hospitality.

To visit family in the area we looked for somewhere close to Oban; close to the airfield; close to good walks. Also somewhere with fantastic views; good cottage owner contact; comfortable; clean
; where everything works!
We found such in Tigh Grianach !!
Fabulous all round ! Thank you!

Our second stay here, last one was a week in June 2019. The bathrooms have been upgraded to a high standard since our last visit. The interior has also been repainted and a feature fireplace installed.

The refurbishment improves what was already an excellent cottage.

Fantastic views and a great base to explore the area with many lovely walks and restaurants within easy driving distance. On this trip we visited Port Appin, Eriskay, Inveraray and Oban and Mull.

We also had a half hour pleasure flight from Oban airport which is only 5 minutes away.

Rhoda is an excellent host, who clearly wants you to have a great stay.

We are booking for September 2023

Perfect in every way !!!

Tigh Grianach stole our hearts over 40 years ago when we first visited. It was then a small traditional Croft. We loved it then for its originality. As the years have passed it’s been developed into the most wonderful property to stay in. Surrounded by sheer beauty and the majesty of the mountains too. Within a short driving distance to the wonderful busy harbour town of Oban. Access to the Isles too. Tigh Grianach is an incredible location to stay in. The Croft provides you with everything you need. It’s really like a home from home. I wholeheartedly recommend a stay here.

Lovely clean, comfortable and well equipped cottage with outstanding views over the loch. Rhoda was extremely welcoming and helpful. This was our 2nd visit and would certainly recommend if looking for self catering accommodation in the Oban area.

Tigh Grianach is located in an dyllic part of North Connel, the cottage look over to Ben Cruachan and the view never fails to looking stunning.
Rhoda (host), is extremely helpful and welcoming and friendly. The cottage is lovely and feels like home away from home.
This was our second stay at Tigh Grianach and we would definitely come back for a third!

Another, absolutely idyllic holiday at Tigh Grianach. We cannot rate our recent stay more highly. The cottage is stunning - spotlessly clean, roomy and very comfortable and homely with everything you could possible need. The location is breathtaking- we spent hours sat in the garden with its beautiful views of Loch Etive and Ben Cruachan (we were blessed with very hot, sunny weather). As always, the owners, Rhoda and James, were so friendly and helpful. Our third trip to Tigh Grianach and definitely won't be our last. Our dog loved it too which is an added bonus. We can't wait to return. Thank you so much!

A perfect holiday.

Tigh Grianach is a heavenly place – perfect in every way! A very high quality, roomy cottage complete with everything you could ever need (even dog waste bags in case you run out). The cottage is SO relaxing with breathtaking views of Loch Etive and Ben Cruachan. Lovely walks and cycle rides in the area and Oban is just a short 15 minute drive away. The owners, Rhoda, James and their family, are so friendly and made us all (my husband, son, step-son and family and our dog) feel incredibly welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they gave us lots of useful advice about places to eat and local places of interest – thank you so much for such a wonderful holiday! We will definitely be back.

We were so impressed with the size of the cottage on arrival and absolutely lovely sitting watching the weather move on and off of Ben Cruachan, views you could never get tired of looking at! Seals in the bay and deer in the meadow at the back of cottage. For me this was pure bliss and we will definitely be back!!!!
Rhoda and her family could not of done more to make us feel at home so a big thank you for that too. Definitely a cottage and a stay that you couldn’t fail to enjoy so give this one a go if you want to totally switch off from the stresses of life and yet if you still need to find things to do they are out there in an abundance. For me it really was Pure Bliss.

An excellent holiday

This was a fantastic location for a good comfortable stay in a cleverly thought out beautifully presented cottage. A great sense of equanimity, perfect for paws and humans. The cottage had everything one would need in self catering right down to the finer detail, very warm, spacious, a most comfortable lounge suite - those armchairs were brilliant, which is a rarity in self catering, elevated with outstanding views across Loch Etive and a wonderful tranquil week was spent by all!

Whilst this is not related to the cottage in any way, we are well travelled in the UK, particularly the North of England, and find Scotland, as much as we love it, really needs to address dog friendly shops and eating establishments and could draw some learning from the Lake District where dogs may enter the majority of places without question. This is a revenue stream, untapped for many where Retail could be boosted...if the lovely owners have any influence in focus Groups with key decision makers/Chamber of Trade/Commerce etc to raise this it would be good! We entered one posh shop in Inverary with money to spend to be sternly told one of our Chow Chows "was too big" so our custom was sadly lost, a first for us, they always get in on looks alone!

However, we would most definitely return to this wonderful cottage in a beautiful place, 300 miles from home and 8 hours driving with pit stops for our Chow Chows was so worth it! Ben Nevis, Fort William, Arduaine lovely gardens, were amongst some of our best visits from the cottage by car. Thank you to the lovely owners for a super stay and long may you reign! We will return with Chow Chow puppy!

The location of the property could not be better. It has exceptional views of Loch Etive and the distant mountains. It is easy to get to and provides a great central base for exploring the area.
The property itself is extremely well equipped, everything modern and easy to use.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Tigh Grianach. Warm, comfortable and very well equipped. Amazing views down the loch. Mrs Campbell was very welcoming and ensured we had everthing we needed. Local pubs/ hotels had good food. The seafood in Oban was exceptional. Highly recommended.

On arrival we found the house rather cold and musty-smelling. I thought that there may have been a dog there previously, and discovered when writing in the Visitors' book just before leaving that this had in fact been the case. However, by opening the windows when we were in and just being there, the musty smell disappeared and the house warmed up. In fact despite it being a rather damp week we only put on extra heating on in the lounge for a short time on two occasions. My only other 'complaint' was that I found the mattress on the double bed a bit too firm.
However, on the whole we found the cottage spacious, light and comfortable. The kitchen was very clean, tidy and convenient, and there was everything you would need for self-catering. There was even a dishwasher, as well as the dishwasher tablets. I cannot think of anything that was lacking.
Mrs Campbell was welcoming and gave us some good tips for our holiday at the start, and I felt that we could have approached her at any time, if we had had a problem.

This is a lovely comfortable house with superb views. Accessible to numerous places of interest with leaflets in abundance to point us in the right direction. There is everything you would need available - almost a home from home. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. We will come here again.
