The Sundial is a beautiful iconic Grade II Listed Arts and Crafts house that sleeps 9 and is situated on the seafront in Lyme Regis overlooking the Cobb and harbour with stunning panoramic views across Lyme Bay taking in Golden Cap and Portland.

We offer a complimentary car parking permit for Woodmead car park, which is a long stay public car park, a short walk from Sundial.

A really lovely house with views over the ever changing sea.
A short walk to the town….
Very comfy beds. Well equipped kitchen and lots of space in the house.
Hope to return next year.

We were a group of 9 friends who hired Sundial House for a weekend having seen it on a previous location.
Stunning location with great access to the beach and town.
Some of the furnishings are quite worn but we loved sitting by the windows looking out over the sea. Lovely atmosphere in the kitchen and dining area.
Some of the sleeping arrangements are ‘interesting’ ie, 2 double bedrooms both access a bathroom, so you need to share with people you know quite well. This was not apparent from the website.
Also, one of the showers wasn’t working. Mark was very helpful but couldn’t fix it, so we shared 1 shower between us all which required some coordination.
Had a great time exploring Lyme with a fossil walk, dinner at Tom’s, a spot of shopping and tastings at the microbrewery.

Fantastic location, so much to do and see, just a short walk from the front door. Quirky layout, but we enjoyed the terrace at the front to watch the world go by below!

Very nice holiday let. Setup to sleep 9 people. Beautiful views and centrally located to everything in Lyme Regis. This house was so cool from the outside, everyone walking by took a picture of it.

Will return again.

Cost is above the average but it was worth the memories.

This is our 3rd stay at Sundial House, and we love it. It is unique, quirky, and in the most amazing position. There are always maintenance issues, but it is an old listed property so only to be expected. Sitting on the front terrace or the dining room looking out over the beach and the sea is wonderful.

This was our fourth stay at this wonderful house on the amazing sea front of Lyme. Our host Mark made sure the house was in perfect condition for our stay. Despite the weather not being brilliant for the whole weekend there is always plenty to do in Lyme at any time of the year. Sundial house is in the best location to take it easy and enjoy the views or explore the town. Already booked again for next year!

Beautiful house, tastefully decorated with quality furnishings, comfortable and the terrace at the front is quite private, we sat out there often (January) watching the sunrise, sunset, swimmers and generally the world go by, great having 2 living room areas both with sea views, a luxury stay for us that we would definitely do again. Mark was very quick in getting back to us if needed

Position is the best ever, a wonderful house with a rich history, and beautifully furnished. Just be aware that the seafront can be noisy early in the mornings, the parking can be challenging, and it is a historic house with some quirks in the layout.

Excellent service over booking, and the house was so interesting - unique, clean, comfortable, decorated for the seaside, and a wonderful location. Everything well provided in the house. Our only problem was that the many levels and stairs proved difficult for one of our group who had injured their foot shortly before the holiday. We had a great time.

Sundial House gave us another instant and uplifting holiday.

A short holiday at Sundial House is becoming a family tradition for us - an extended family. The house itself is lovely and characterful; the layout is slightly quirky and there are lots of stairs but once you're familiar with it, Sundial House feels like home with some marvellous extras - not least the views. Mark is such a helpful and responsive manager and has done everything to make our stays comfortable. We love it and appreciated the updating in decoration this year. We shall be back!

Our second visit to Sundial House and we have booked again for next year. It is a unique property with a strange arrangement of rooms, lots of stairs, but a view like no other. You feel like a celebrity sitting on the little terrace overlooking the beach with passers-by taking your photograph because the building is so unusual.

Lyme Regis is one the best seaside holiday towns in the UK. Sundial House is right in front of the beach, step out the door walk 20 metres and your on the beach. The property is old but very well maintained with 4 bedrooms and large kitchen and two lounges. Although the car park is 5 minutes walk away you can unload directly outside the property. Highly recommended.

The fantastic location of this house makes up for the access and parking issues. We loved being able to look out at the sea and beachfront activities from the rooms at the front of the house, although we were fortunate to have a heatwave weekend (March) and could also enjoy the small outdoor terrace. The house is comfortable, well maintained and well equipped with a warm feel to it, which enabled us to enjoy it as an interesting and cared for holiday home rather than characterless self-catering holiday accommodation. It would be a lovely place to enjoy the coast whatever time of year.
People who struggle with stairs would be challenged by the number of floors in the house and the location of the bathrooms but the stairs themselves are level, not too narrow and with firm handrails. The position of the house enabled our multi-generational family group to all enjoy activities of their choosing within easy walking distance and we far from exhausted the options so easily could have stayed longer.

Sundial House is beautiful, easy to contact Mark with any problems but there weren’t any. Second visit to Sundial House, brilliant location but it’s not suitable if you find stairs difficult or cannot walk luggage up a slope and steps.
The cooker is tricky - instructions in the dining room dresser.
I hope to visit again one day.

We had a super time at Sundial House. The perfect getaway for our family. The location couldn’t be better and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything was made very simple with Mark looking after us before and during our stay. The house is a true gem and I would recommend time and time again. We loved Lyme Regis already - now we have another reason to return more frequently. Thank you for having us! The Kings

We loved the location of this house and the arts and crafts details were great, our stay was severely compromised by the configuration of the sleeping arrangements- we were a group of eight adults (a mixture of singles and couples). One room is advertised as two rooms but in effect is one long room comprising a day bed and two singles - set as bunk beds. This really did not allow any privacy for unrelated adults.
It would have been far better to use the ground floor front room as a bedroom and make this long room into a lounge - especially as it has the only access to the outside elevated rear garden.
There was a lack of blinds/curtains in the bathrooms/ toilet areas and the water pressure in the upstairs bathroom was no existent resulting in a pathetic shower and there was a leak in the downstairs bath resulting in the bath emptying preventing a long soak.
To make this house work for us a couple had to move out and incur extra cost of a local b & b!

Sundial house is such a gem. It is so close to the beach with beautiful views changing all the time. The weather wasn't kind to us the weekend we stayed, but the views were so amazing that sitting in the bay window watching etc waves crash in was just as brilliant as a sunny weekend on the beach. And when we did venture out, we were very close to be able to enjoy getting soaked to be able to run back inside to comfort.

Only things to consider are - lots of stairs and you can't drive up to the front door. It is a very old house (that has been converted well), but that does leave the issues that any old house would have. And that one bedroom is accessed through a bathroom.

However, it is such a unique property, and I am very glad that I got a chance to stay there. Definitely a memory maker of a weekend!

We had a glorious stay right on the beach. It is just magical and there is nowhere like it. The house is beautifully furnished and decorated. Mark was very responsive and helpful before and during our stay.

Only downsides are - be prepared for a noisy and early start to the day with seagulls and deliveries to neighbouring restaurants. And, as his is an historic building, the bathrooms are in slightly odd locations and the plumbing is showing its age.

But it is worth it all as the house is wonderful.

This house is full of character - a special place in a perfect, convenient, seaside location.

We had a very happy five-day family holiday here in June/July and loved the house. The location could not have been better on Marine Parade, with ever-changing fantastic views of the sea, immediate access to the beach and an easy walk to town. The main living room on the first floor has the best sea view. With a large dining table, comfy sofa and two chairs beside the bay window it was the perfect space for six of us adults plus toddler. Eight adults would have been fine too. The kitchen which leads off that room layout is not perfect - the sink is too far from the cooker - but for a holiday it is absolutely fine. Two of the double bedrooms have that perfect view and the other bedrooms were fine. The tv room on the ground floor was where we watched the Euros!
The only tricky thing is the position of the bathrooms - with one on the ground floor and another on the top but that is clear from the floorplans when you first consider booking. There are also lots of stairs but it's an old, listed house and we like to keep fit! Our grandson called it The Castle House. The patio garden at the front is an extra bonus and we felt lucky to be in such a special place. The agents - and cleaners - were also extremely helpful. Thank you Mark and your team. We shall be back!

Sundial is stunning, we feel so lucky to have stayed there. The house is beautiful and the location couldn’t be more perfect! The interior is gorgeous with beautiful soft furnishings and exquisite original features. The house has so much history and is one of the jewels of marine parade! Being situated right smack in the middle is amazing so within easy reach if everything in beautiful Lyme.

For - Fantastic place to stay with marvellous views - perfect aaccomodation for six adults and two children. This should be specified as two beds are bunks!!!
Against- top floor shower unit doesn’t work - with hand held shower and it’s unfortunate that one room leads into shower room - should have separate entrance.
Terrace garden could do with some TLC
We enjoyed our stay at Sundial House very much - thank you

This charming house is wonderfully located for the beach at Lyme, being just across Marine Parade. We used that to the full with morning swims - up and straight into a your swimming gear with the luxury of a hot shower afterwards back at the house.
The kitchen is well equipped and the house is beautifully furnished in keeping with its period. Having said that, we visited with two lively primary -aged boys but didn't feel too nervous about the fittings as they have been sensibly chosen to be reasonably sturdy.
One reservation - I have seen the house described as having 5 bedrooms, which isn't really the case as the single room and the bunkroom are completely open to each other, accessed by one door.

We booked a short break as a family to celebrate my husband's birthday and were so happy we did. The house welcomes you with all it's wonderful features and fantastic views. We immediately felt relaxed and at home and enjoyed all the spaces from the top of the garden to the terrace below. It's perfectly located for the beach and restaurants and has absolutely everything you could need in the kitchen. I could go on so just a final note about the interior design which is a joy. Thank you Mark for looking after us so well.....now back to reality!

My family and I (6 adults, 3 children and a baby) had an absolutely fantastic stay at Sundial House. The house itself is very historical (people passing by would regularly stop to admire it from the outside) and a stone’s throw away from the beach. It is right on Marine Parade which is where you want to be. Mark was a great host, we had an issue with the dishwasher not working but he sent over a handyman promptly to sort it out.

Great equipment and facilities: Sonos speaker, Smeg cooking hob, Designers Guild bedding. The beds were so comfortable to sleep in, you literally sink in to it. A travel cot and high chair for the baby were provided, super handy. And oh the views from the dining room and both main bedrooms! We spent hours there just looking out and listening to the waves.

There are plenty of food and drink options around, and lots to do for the kids - the aquarium, boating, and an amusement arcade are all accessible, as is Langmoor Gardens for the views and mini golf. Broad Street and all the shops are a 5 minute walk away.

This was our first family holiday in a year and a half and we are so pleased we chose Sundial and that Mark did everything to make our stay memorable, including a late checkout as we had a later train back. Thank you so much!

It was lovely to be privileged enough to stay in this beautiful quirky house . It was a much needed break to catch up with family after such a long break .and a welcome escape from frontline NHS (up north). I have admired this house for more than 15 yrs whilst visiting Lyme Regis on a number of occasions as we have family in Exeter. Our guests were very impressed with the location and quality of the house ,and had much enjoyment sat on the terrace
of what must be the most photographed landmark in Lyme Regis .Thankyou.
