Located in the heart of the village of Barbon and within easy walking distance of the very popular village pub, coffee shop and store, Hilltop is a charming stone cottage which sleeps 4. Hilltop is a dog friendly property accepting 1 dog with a lovely enclosed garden.

Hilltop was a great place to spend New Year with friends. It’s a lovely cottage that has everything you could possibly need. There’s a very welcoming village pub just a few metres away, where we saw in the New Year. Fizz and bacon sandwiches were available the next morning in the village hall before a walk in the surrounding countryside. Perfect! We did get a little lost trying to find the cottage in the dark and rain; providing a simple map in the welcome pack would be very helpful.

The cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived and looked cosy right from the start. Everything appeared to have been taken into consideration except for the fact that there was no cupboard space to store food. Whilst this wasn't an issue for us (2 people and a dog), a family would probably struggle having to use the counter space for food storage. The garden whilst small was adequate for our small dog and was fully secure. The local pub serves lovely food but was not open Monday or Tuesday when we stayed. Not being walkers of any great distance, this cottage was a little out of the way. Having said that we haven't stayed in a more comfortable cottage.

A simply gorgeous wee place to stay. Photos are deceptive so you may find everything a bit smaller than you expect, however small has its benefits and a cosy welcoming place awaits you. One of us was over 6ft. That can be an issue with very low beams in some areas, but it all just added to the charm. Beautifully decorated you feel instantly at home. For our stay the wood burning stove made us cosy. We never needed any other heating. Lovely bathrooms with plentiful hot water.
In the village is the amazing Churchmouse cheese shop, that transforms into Bistro on a Friday evening. What a find, excellent food, friendly atmosphere. Very few tables so book in advance if interested.
The Barbon local pub, didn’t feel quite so welcoming on first entry, however the next day was different so maybe the staff were having a bad day. Wide range of beer etc available so well worth a visit.
Everywhere was dog friendly and short walk from the cottage.
All in all nothing would stop us returning. A truly lovely place in a lovely setting.

The cottage is lovely .It is well furnished with lovely views of the surrounding hills.The garden is small and needs attention,with only a small area for outside seating.The cottage may not be suitable for anyone with limited mobility

Cottage was cosy with a good location & lovely views. It was peaceful & relaxing. Quirky village cafe & pub which serves nice food.
Easy access to local attractions. We were very lucky with the weather!

Stayed for 6 nights - cottage felt unloved - cobwebs inside and overgrown hedge in garden , bin already full and very smelly . Supposed to be a blue tooth speaker but couldn’t find one . Nice cottage but needs a bit more TLC to bring it up to standard of Mill House Cottages which have previously been excellent . Disappointed.

Lovely cottage with everything you need. Perfect for Jasper our dog with enclosed garden. Extremely clean and well equipped. The cleaners should be praised highly as the cottage was absolutely spotless. We will come back.

The cottage is situated in a beautiful village and is an ideal base for many walks/places of interest. The cottage was comfortable and cosy with a nice garden space. It was generally well equipped and clean and tidy. A dustpan and sweeping brush and a couple of spare loo rolls would have been a welcome addition. It can accommodate four and would be fine for a family but we felt it would be a little cramped for two couples staying a week. As there were only two of us staying this wasn’t actually a problem.

Hill Top is a really comfortable and well thought-out cottage. We enjoyed staying there and Barbon is a lovely village. The only things that might put us off another visit are the lack of garden sun later in the day and particularly squeaky floorboards in the upper bedroom.

This is the second time we have stayed in this lovely cottage and would highly recommend it. It is in a quiet village surrounded by beautiful scenery and not far from Kirkby Lonsdale. We look forward to staying again in the near future.

Hilltop Cottage is a cosy and charming place. Very well equipped. Comfortable beds with good linen! Car parking easy. Communication with Mill House Cottages was excellent from start to finish. Lots of nice touches made a positive difference.
Great location for some walks of all categories such as Barbon Circular, Yorkshire 3 peaks. Kirkby Lonsdale is a lovely market town 10 mins away.
Can recommend the Barbon Inn and the Churchmouse deli...friendly, nothing too much trouble. Taxi recommendations from Millhouse were useful and very good service.

Hilltop is a comfortable, clean, well equipped cottage in a lovely location. There are views of the hills from the cottage and Barbon is a quiet village with a nice deli/tea rooms where we enjoyed good cakes. There are plenty of walks from either Hilltop or nearby Kirkby Lonsdale. Hilltop had everything we needed for a fantastic autumn break.

The cottage had everything we needed, was well presented and easy to live in. For us Barbon was a perfect location - a quiet village with great walking and cycling options, a pub with good food and real ale and a lovely deli/coffee shop - and less than four miles from Kirkby Lonsdale.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Hilltop. The location is ideal for exploring the Lakes and the Dales. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are furnished to a high standard. The whole cottage was very clean and I would definitely recommend staying there.

This is an excellent, clean and comfortable cottage. The beds were really comfortable and the standard of cleanliness was very high. Lovely location in the heart of the village with great eating out options within easy walking distance. The location also allows easy access to both the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks. There are also fantastic walks that can be started right from the doorstep.
The only downsides in our opinion were the absence of a microwave oven and a bath plug that did not work.

Had a lovely stay at Hilltop, it’s our second time staying at Barbon which is a friendly little village in a great location with a lovely, friendly local pub and coffee shop.
The cottage was clean, cosy and very comfortable. The only thing missing was a microwave and the plug didn’t work on the bath. However this won’t stop me returning again.
