Bay Tree Cottage is a charming traditional stone cottage located in the small hamlet of Butterstone, near Dunkeld. It has a pretty cottage garden with summerhouse, large dining kitchen, 2 reception rooms, king bedroom and a twin bedroom. Dogs are very welcome.

Good break, good cosy decor.

We had a lovely stay at Bay Trees Cottage and really enjoyed our week at the property. It is situated in a small village called Butterstone near Dunkeld and was perfect for a quiet week away from the city. There isn't much at all in Butterstone (which was just what we wanted) but there are some lovely walks in and around Dunkeld.

The cottage itself is beautiful. Really homely and quaint with two wood burners, lots of original features and a gorgeous cottage garden. Lots of space for our dog who had an amazing time. It was so lovely to find such a clean and beautiful dog friendly cottage.

We only had two minor gripes which we would have preferred to have emailed the owners about directly rather than posting publicly but hopefully they can resolve... 1) The handrail from the garden gate to the patio area is damaged and actually came off when I slipped on the ice and grabbed it. No damage done, all okay but it might be worth fixing this should less able people visit. 2) The plug sockets looked a little overloaded with multiple plugs, plug cubes etc plugged in. We unplugged most of these when we left the property unattended. Might be worth considering.

Apart from those two issues, we had a wonderful time at Bay Tree and would highly recommend. Thank you!

We enjoyed our stay in bay tree cottage, it was comfortable and well equipped although the heating was unreliable. There wasn’t a lot of space for car parking and garden gates didn’t shut properly with regards to having a dog there.

Very cute cottage close to the pretty village of Dunkeld

Our family of four (with 2 young daughters) enjoyed a lovely week’s stay at this quaint but superbly kitted out cottage. Anything you could possibly think of was provided in the kitchen and lots of books including a kids play/drawing area was set up. Huge garden to use if the weather is nice and a summer hut to relax in also furnished with chairs and books (and badminton rackets!).

Peace and quiet

Our short break was a great change from the hustle and bustle of the city noises.
The cottage was pleasant and comfortable
However the bedrooms were very warm at night
Due to the very high outside evening temperatures,
We would certainly recommend the cottage and the surrounding area for outdoor enthusiasts.

Bay tree cottage is a lovely little cottage set in a well loved and cared for garden. We enjoyed our week here and found the garden secure and relatively safe for our 3yr old to play in. Really good location for walking and accessing Dunkeld. Cottage was clean and comfortable.
There were a few things that let the cottage down, one being the lack of usable storage space in the kitchen-lots of drawers but all full of clutter! Also not sure how covid secure it was as lots of partially used bottles of shampoo/shower gels and soaps in bathroom and personal items around the cottage such as earrings and hair rollers and items of clothing. Also we asked for a highchair which wasn’t provided, if you need one take one-luckily we managed without!
Overall a lovely stay just a few areas that need looking at!

Lovely Country Cottage with easy access to excellent outdoor life, cafes and shops.

Bay Tree cottage is a great get-away cottage, rural but easily accessible to the interesting town of Dunkeld, the A9 and numerous walking opportunities. There is a good sized kitchen/dining area and 2 sitting rooms. The bedrooms are nicely furnished and the beds are comfortable. There is a pretty garden with options for outside eating and straight out of door options for dog walking. The steps down from the lane into the back garden and the bathroom are fine for active oldies but could be an issue for someone with walking difficulties. There are plenty of options for eating locally in Dunkeld and the area was busy but not overcrowded in March. The V&A in Dundee is less than an hour away.
