Fabulous house with a view. Would have liked somewhere to put clothes in main bedroom. There was no where to put clothes as no chest of drawers and had to keep everything in suitcase. For a house of this standard think it’s unacceptable. Also only one hand towel in each bathroom for a week, again not sufficient. Would expect to change towels on a more regular basis. Elaine the owner was helpful and arranged taxi for us to take us to local restaurant. Elspeth the taxi driver was excellent.

Beautiful spot. Lovely large house but room for improvement

We had a lovely stay. The house is lovely with nice spacious rooms and wonderful views. We had fantastic days out and felt that the house was positioned well to explore the area.

However, we have never stayed in a holiday let where the owners belongings are still in the house. On arrival we went in through the dining room, which had coats and boots in the corner. We unloaded our luggage and as the property was self-catering had brought plenty of food and drink. We went to pop the food away and found that there was no cupboard space to do this.

The owners had a packed cupboard full of their own food in addition to food in the freezer. There was another cupboard full of herbs, spices and condiments which smelt very strongly. A basket containing hot drink sachets was also there and contained sachets which expired in 2016.

The other kitchen cupboards and shelves were rammed with an array of stuff, far more than we would ever need. Unfortunately these drawers and cupboards were in need of a deep clean. The poor cleaner would never have time to clean to this level as it must take 4 to 5 hours to just do a basic clean on a house of this size. We ended up having to keep our goods in the dining room.

I would stay here again but if I were the owner I would remove my belongings from the property. If it were an Air B&B advertised as the owners holiday home it would be acceptable but it is advertised as a luxury property and I felt it was let down by the kitchen facilities. The lounge is large enough to accommodate the dining table and would make the space much more sociable so the dining room as is could be used to store the owners goods in a locked cabinet out of sight.

A good sized property with a lovely view of Loch Fyne but falls way short of being excellent.

The property is looking a little more tired than the photographs on the website would suggest. Although clean the kitchen worktop and units are showing their age. The wall cupboard in the kitchen smelt very strongly of the curry spices within.
On our arrival we found food stuffs in the freezer and cupboards which presumably belong to the owners of the property. There were also personal effects which made it feel like the owners could return home at any minute.
Perhaps understandably there are no carpets within the property but the floors and skirtings were very dusty, especially under the beds and sofas. Not being carpeted, the timber floor upstairs is very creaky throughout to the extent that everyone is aware when sometime has a trip to the loo in the night!
The 2 main bedrooms upstairs are very large but we were disappointed to find the one with the en-suite only had a standard double bed, and the other one only had a slightly bigger sofa bed, with a very thin mattress. The bedroom downstairs also only had a standard double bed. The website did state that there should have been a king-sized bed in one of the bedrooms. Given the cost of the rental and the size of the rooms upstairs both should have proper king-sized beds in them and possible additional single beds (there’s certainly room for them). We have a super king sized bed at home and chose the sofa bed as it was the largest but is was uncomfortable, to the extent that one of us slept on the sofa downstairs after the first night. Although the road outside is not busy during the night you do hear the passing traffic. None of us could say that we had a great night’s sleep while we were there.
On the plus side the bathroom and en-suite looked more modern and the fixtures were all clean. The linen and towels were also all freshly laundered, and there are some unusual maritime themed light fittings.

We booked this holiday home in early June following a cancellation and due to the lack of suitable alternatives paid substantially more than we would normally for a 3 bed property for a week long stay in August, as I’m sure everyone who took a 'staycation' this year did.

We were also unaware at the time of booking of the additional dwellings to the rear of Letters Lodge and the presence of the ‘still to be finished’ new build house to the north. There is really only parking for one car, although one of the neighbours to the rear permitted us to park a second car in her yard.

Consequently we don’t feel that it was value for money and can only give it 3/5 overall.

Not quite what we expected

Very pleasant front garden area but unfortunately there is no indication from the photos and description about the close proximity of the properties behind Letters Lodge North. Strange to find personal items of clothing and footwear in the hanging area of the dining room. A very random selection of crockery/cutlery/glasses/cooking utensils and pans. No kitchen cleaner or washing up liquid provided. Strange and annoying intermittent banging noises from the locked owners cupboard in the third bedroom/upstairs living room.

During this difficult time in a strange world due to Covid this was the first time my mum, who had been shielding, has been away for some time. Claire was very kind and informative both before we arrived and during our stay. The lodge was fantastic, and lots of history which was really interesting to read. The decor inside is to a really high quality finish and views or the sunset from the main window was some of the best I have seen. A lovely bottle of wine upon arrival, which was perfect for the sun in the garden. Fed the birds every morning and watched them enjoy the bread before we went further down the road to fish with our children. A fantastic family stay. Thank you

While the location was a bit remote from Trossachs-our destination for exploration, we discovered the rich world around us. Loch Fyne is beautiful, we found great places to eat and play, and we loved our stay. The view out the windows was spectacular. The cottage was nicely equipped and very comfortable. Communication with the management company was great and very helpful.

Well positioned and beautiful holiday cottage with views over Loch fyne. We stayed for a weekend and had adequate space for 6 adults without feeling like we were on top of each other. Lovely garden and all rooms clean and brightly decorated. Welcome pack was a lovely touch and we will definitely be returning!!

Letters Lodge North is perfectly located at the edge of Loch Fyne. The view across the Loch is stunning. The house itself as been very sympathetically renovated. It retains character but with modern home comforts, particularly the underfloor heating, which is wonderful. The kitchen is very well equipped. The log burning stove is a bonus and great to doze by at the end of a long walk. Bedrooms are airy and comfortable. It is ideal for a family or a group of friends. We were grateful for the generous "welcome pack" on arrival, as well as the helpful information pack providing lots of useful intel on what to do and see in the area. The house is in an ideal spot for exploring Cowal and beyond. We had a wonderful 3 nights here. Thank you!

We stayed at Letters Lodge North for a week at the beginning of August and had an amazing holiday. Claire and David had excellent communication with us from start to finish. The location of the cottage was perfect for exploring the Loch Lomond area and the highlands. We took some spectacular drives, most notably to Fort William via the A82, which had incredible views along the way. The cottage itself was very-well appointed, with a cook's kitchen, modern bathrooms, and the modern diversions of telly and wifi. The only niggle was the master bed was just a double and overly firm for our middle-aged backs, but our insomnia was rewarded on a couple of nights with clear, starry skies that took our breaths away. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and would love to return if we get the chance!
