Stayed here with a small group of friends whilst attending a wedding nearby. Lovely cottage with three bedrooms and spacious communal spaces. We particularly enjoyed the fireplace in the sitting room. The little village is quiet and there are beautiful views over the fields
We stayed at Laurel Cottage over Christmas 2024 and we absolutely loved our stay. It was the perfect location for other destination towns around the Cotswolds and the cottage itself had everything we needed! The bedrooms were the perfect amount of space for the 5 of us, and our dog absolutely loved lying by the fire on a cold evening. We made a full Christmas dinner in the gorgeous farm-style kitchen with no hassle at all - fully stocked and had everything at our disposal. We cannot wait to visit again - we loved it!
A stunningly beautiful place - like living for a few days in an enchanted landscape. Absolutely loved it
We booked our stay over the Xmas break and what a fantastic place to come too. The beautiful renovation of The Tractor Shed is amazing, the space, the beautiful interior styling & everything & more you could wish for in a self catering stay. So many lovely touches to welcome us here we’re so well thought so many lovely Xmas decorations & lots of lovely treats waiting for us. We really loved the log burner in the evenings & the space in the kitchen was amazing for the 6 of us. The bathrooms were so spacious & we could have stayed here indefinitely. Lovely walks on the Cotswold way right outside...more
Such a lovely little place. Right on the doorstep to Bourton on the water. The hosts were brilliant, lovely little touches. Thank you!
The house is exactly as shown in the photos. Bathrooms are immaculate and large, fluffy towels are provided! The kitchen is really well equipped for a large group to cook and eat at home. Lots of wine and champagne glasses and even dog bowls are provided! The house is situated right in the heart of the estate, next to the restaurant, tennis courts and spa and we used EV charging points only a stones throw away. We’d absolutely love to stay again.
We absolutely loved our stay at Upper Lodge. The house was extremely spacious, but also very cosy and homely. We loved the stylish decor and found everything to be in perfect condition. The location was very beautiful and peaceful, and the house felt very private. We would definitely love to return in the future.
We had a beautiful stay at Beaufort Farm House recently as a surprise 60th birthday celebration for my mum. We were a group of 8 with two children. It was a truly stunning property in a breath-taking setting. So peaceful and tranquil. From the magnificent views, to the quirky stairs and rooms, the house was simply amazing and we couldn't fault any aspect of our stay. Whilst we did have a slight miscommunication at the beginning (very minor) this was brilliantly resolved by the owner, Fiona. We had great contact and nothing was too much trouble from our first communications, during our stay a...more
We stayed at Firecrest as a family of 9 for an 80th birthday. The accommodation was perfect for the occasion. We had everything we needed for our stay. We had all the information we needed before hand and we knew who to contact if we needed anything during our stay. Would definitely recommend and we would stay again. Many thanks
We spent Christmas in the barn, the owners had thoughtfully put up decorations for us. It was well equipped and the owners were on hand to answer any questions. The location was perfect.
We absolutely loved our weekend away at this property it was in a beautiful location, rural yet only a 20 minute car ride Into Cheltenham. On arrival we were welcomed with a lovely homemade cake and the fridge had fresh farm eggs in as well as milk and butter. We bumped into Nigel the owner whilst we were out enjoying a lovey morning walk and we were lucky enough to say hello to his cows which we all loved!! We will Definitely be returning!!
We stayed here for three nights while working in the area and it was a very welcome change from the normal hotels. The location of the property is stunning with wonderful views of the valley and the lakes as well as being very quiet. Peter and Carol are fantastic hosts and Lakeside Cottage has been prepared to an extremely high standard with countless touches that show they really care - I would thoroughly recommend this place.
Our stay was absolutely perfect, wouldn't have changed a thing except the length of time (we all wished it was far longer!). The lodge, estate and surrounding areas are all beautiful and perfect and we couldn't have asked for a better place.
We had a wonderful family weekend get-together at The Old Calf Pens. Clive and Lydia are very friendly welcoming hosts and were helpful with suggestions on what to see and do locally. The accommodation was ideal for our needs with a new baby on board and was very clean and comfortable. The setting was just so idyllic on a peaceful working farm in a picturesque location yet within easy reach of all the Cotswolds hotspots.Best of all was being able to walk straight from the door. We can definitely recommend a stay at The Old Calf Pens!
A fantastic cottage, beautifully appointed and lots of special touches. In a superb location for walking with a great local pub on the doorstep. Would highly recommend.
We booked Owls Nest Barn for a family Christmas gathering. Everything was fabulous! Enough of everything to cater for 8 adults, we even used the BBQ for our butterflied lamb leg. Beds really comfortable with crisp white bedding and fluffy white towels in all four bathrooms. We all enjoyed being in the countryside with easy walking (take wellies) and the walk to Painswick is a must! Thoroughly recommend for a relaxing stay!
This was probably the most perfect place we have stayed. The location was idyllic and peaceful and close enough to explore Oxford. The house itselfhad the most amazing finish with an extremely high quality interior. Quite frankly, this would be my perfect home!! Thank you for an amazing stay-we will be back!!!
We had a wonderful stay at this property. It’s decorated beautifully and to a high standard. It has everything you need! The host was super responsive and helped with everything we needed. Very accommodating. Would recommend to stay and would stay again for sure! Thanks for having us :)
We come to the Cotswolds every Christmas and have stayed in a few different properties, upper folly is absolutely one of the best we’ve ever stayed in! We’d not stayed in Paxford before - it’s so pretty as is neighbouring Blockley; the village shop in blockley was ideal for bits and pieces. We visited the Ebrington Arms down the road for lunch which was gorgeous and it was a good driving distance from Chipping Norton etc. We would have loved to explored Broadway but the storm hit so we stayed in and fired up the lovely log burner in the snug for the afternoon. All bedrooms are en suite which i...more
As a geographically dispersed family of 14 we don’t get to meet up very often, so staying at the farmhouse was a special event. We comprise grandparents, parents and five children, the youngest five months old. And we loved it. Great location, wonderful house, plenty of space. We’ve stayed in many houses, UK and Europe, and this was votest the best. We felt the owners went above our expectations with the breakfasts and treats they provided. And those of us who cooked had everything we needed to prepare our main meals. (You sometimes find you need a sharp knife, cheese grater or thge like). ...more
I stayed at Lake Cottage to celebrate my Mum's 60th birthday. The property was spotless and so well equipped. We all commented multiple times on how the owners had gone above and beyond to fill the cupboard with everything you could need for a short break. The building itself is stunning and in a picturesque location. Not to mention the friendly pig on site who was a family favourite. I would highly recommend staying at Lake Cottage. We will be looking at booking our next staycation there shortly.
This property is well equipped, it's peaceful, it's comfortable, Lisa, the owner is very friendly and helpful, it's very well located, it's fresh and, and, and... You have a bus that leaves every hour to and from Oxford (a 40 minute ride) or if you prefer the train, there's a station within a 10 minute walk and this takes only 9 minutes to the centre of Oxford, although these are every 2 hours and you need to buy your ticket online. The Cotswolds are a short drive away and there are many interesting places even closer. Country walks are outside the door. I could go on but let's just say th...more
The stay at the Dutchy was phenomenal, it is in a nice and secluded location. Glad it was near a hiking trail. Although from the house Ubers cannot be used a Taxi works out just fine. Ubers can be used in the surrounding area and at least to get to the Dutchy. The beds are comfortable, the shower I used was hot however other guests had to deal with cold water. The home looks very nice inside and out, great decoration and facilities. Both houses have kitchens which we found really helpful as well could switch between the two on different days. Amazing living spaces for larger groups to ...more
Bumble Cottage is one of the best and loveliest cottages we have stayed at. We like to self cater and be free to do our own thing. The convenience of the cottage was excellent - just a short walk to the Chipping Campden high street and restaurants and coffee shops. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas and it was so cosy. We would like to visit again when the weather is warmer so that we can sit outside in the garden.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at The Coach House and would love to return one day. The house was spotlessly clean on arrival and very comfortable for a family of four. The owner was very communicative and offered some great tips. We loved the small village of Cold Aston and all the surrounding villages. Highly recommended.
Wonderful stay with friends. The cottage has been beautifully decorated with great amenities. Neema and Alex were great hosts and happy to help with a few issues we encountered but resolved these swiftly. Would not hesitate to book again to explore the local area more and enjoy the house once again. Thank you both for a lovely weekend Harriet x
A realy nice place to stay comfy bed I slept well, Great shower better than the one i have at home just right for a quiet break with nice walks and plenty to see. I will stay again.
Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful, delightful and comfortable cottage. We loved it. Thank you for helping us sort out the TV!! Your fresh milk and gelato were first class. Such a treat to have it on tap so to speak!! The location is fabulous for exploring the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean and so many gorgeous pubs/restaurants too. We loved sitting up in bed with the window open with a view at night time of the lights along the Severn and the Bridge. Very atmospheric. Lovely to hear the owls and the cows. You've lovingly created a real gem.
Wonderful Cottage! Would highly recommend! Everything you would need for an enjoyable stay!! Thank you to Sue for the lovely goodies provided!
Teagles Cottage was very clean and felt very welcoming, warm and homely for our party of seven. All our needs had been catered for. It was only a step away from the shops, restaurants etc of the town which was very convenient but at the same time it was very quiet. It was in an ideal location for exploring the area. We had a wonderful time in a beautiful cottage.
Stayed here with 3 couples over New Year and it was perfect. Everything you want from a weekend in the Cotswolds. Decent pub 5 minutes walk away, opposite a beautiful church, log burning fire, nice well equipped kitchen and a sofa actually big enough to sit 6 people on. The bedrooms were very comfortable with good mattresses and the bathrooms very modern. Parking for 3 cars too. Honestly a real little gem and I am jealous of the owners having this as their future retirement home.
Stayed for two nights in the cottage to tour the Cotswolds. We arrived a couple of hours early and Lisa was ready for us. The cottage was lovely, clean tidy and comfortable with all mod cons. Milk tea and coffee was a nice added touch. All the villages we visited were within a half hour drive and buses or train to the centre of Oxford are right on the doorstep. All in all a great place to stay.
A close group of 6 friends had a fantastic stay in the Coach House. It really is home from home. The kitchen diner is great. A massive dining table was perfect for a large group to gather around. The kitchen is very well resourced with anything you can think of. We cooked three meals no problem. The bedrooms are cosy but each have a lovely en-suite with the added bonus of a bathroom downstairs. Karen our host was excellent. Quick to respond to anything and very helpful and accommodating. Thanks Karen. A fantastic stay.
We had an amazing stay - the cottage was beautiful and so well equipped everything we’d need. The beds were so comfortable and every room was stunningly designed. It’s better than the pictures in real life. Located on the grounds of a lovely estate with nice walks just around the corner it made for the perfect stay. Thank you so much!!!
We had an excellent stay at this lovely well located and extremely well equipped cottage. The owners had worked hard to make this a really nice property to rent for a long weekend (or longer). A couple of lamps (standard and table) in the sitting room would be the only suggestion we'd make to give it a more 'cosy' feel. Other than that it was perfect.
We had a lovely time at Barebones Farm. Both Liz and Steve were very attentive . They even sent our son’s coat back that he left there. Thank you!! Beautiful house in a beautiful village . We had a wonderful family Christmas all together .
One of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in (we have stayed in over 25) recommended in every way, easy walk to Winchcombe by footpath or road in 15 minutes
We really enjoyed our 6 night stay over Christmas. The Old Stables is a very well designed space that worked perfectly for our family of 5. It is super clean, with comfortable beds and sofas. The kitchen is well equipped and we had everything we needed at meal times. It is very quiet even though it is on a working farm. Our Grandson loved seeing all the animals. The location is great with super views and close to many places of interest. We loved the Christmas tree and the welcome pack thank you.
A lovely stay in a beautiful location. David was so welcoming and friendly. He has done an absolutely fabulous job of the Shepherds Hut and the hot tub was just divine. Would love to return in the summer because I can imagine the exclusive decking being a right little sun trap. The bed was so comfy and the duvet was cosy and kept us warm. Stayed in many Shepherds Huts before and this is by far one of the most luxurious ones.
Our second stay at Merchant House and it was even lovelier than we remembered! Perfectly located in Charlbury, next to the fabulous Bull pub, this house is such a great spot for a family gathering or like us a group of friends getting together for a pre Christmas weekend away. The house is so comfortable for a crowd, super comfy beds and bedding, gorgeous living areas and a brilliantly equipped kitchen. So many thoughtful touches, especially at Christmas, a great supply of logs, a welcome basket and a generous provision of essentials such as dishwasher tabs, washing pods as well as lovely toil...more
This cottage is in an excellent spot for touring the Cotswolds. It was a unique property, really well equipped, clean, spacious and in a great location. It provided us with an ideal base and the information pack in the cottage provided us with loads of useful info. Definitely recommended by us all.
Fantastic time at an amazing property and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Be prepared for narrow lanes. Just one thing we would have liked was an instruction manual for the Aga. Great food at the local pub 'The Woolpack in the village too.
We booked Old Fox Cottage to celebrate the Christmas holidays. Communication before our arrival was fantastic and provided easy directions to the cottage. Once we entered we were thrilled to see the cottage had been decorated for the holidays including Christmas crackers. We were also supplied with tea, milk, bread, butter and cake. Just what we needed after our journey. The village itself is very cute and the pub across the square is delicious. We were also provided with some excellent suggestions on additional places to eat. The village is very conveniently located to explore the best of the...more
Great location for us , peaceful and gorgeous views. Local pubs all great food and Dyrham Park on your doorstep. Accomodation perfect, clean and had evetything you needed nice touch was some fresh milk on arrival for a lovely cuppa after the journey, and a sizable TV(someplaces we have stayed the has been TV tiny) one small item missing would have been nice to have a couple of chairs outside however we didn't ask so more than likely we couldn't find them. Missing the lovely horses, Rupert and the very friendly dogs and cats. Would highly reccomend and stay again.
Very spacious and clean property, beds very comfy with soft pillows, location great for centre, 10min walk down the side of canal , house keeper sammii very helpful and on hand if required, dining area in kitchen could do with a tv on wall, the only cons I would say is window cleaner required and garden would look so much better with plants/climbers around fencing and few on patio , garden is huge and looks bit bare but it’s a great property with all mod cons including x box in front room which my son tommy loved, cake and milk on arrival a nice touch we would stay again, lee, wendy & tommy
We were delighted to arrive at Farthingdales to be welcomed with a wreathe on the door and a lovely real Christmas tree. The property was very attractive and comfortable. A guide to the working of the microwave and coffee machine would have been helpful. Also sturdy heat resistant gloves for handling the logs/fire. The main bedroom was cold and the radiator didn't seem to be working? Otherwise we really liked it.
Thanks to the owners. A beautiful, cosy cottage with everything provided for a comfortable stay. The cottage is decorated and furnished to a very high standard . The kitchen has everything provided for cooking and cleaning up, the lovely cake and milk was much appreciated. The wood burner was also very useful (some logs provided too). Sage Cottage is in a great location in the beautiful village of Blockley which is very close to many of the Cotswolds idyllic places to visit. The negative with Blockley is the vast amount of cars parked on the very narrow High Street!! Sage cottage benefit...more
The house itself is stunning! Plenty of space and amenities for hosting, lots of kitchen utensils for cooking at the home or space to eat if you order a takeaway! The fire in the lounge makes it so cosy. The entire house was spotless and clean! Would highly recommend to anyone. The Plough Inn pub nearby is a lovely cosy pub if you fancy a drink or a meal out. My only fault would be that although we were aware that checkout is at 10, I have never stayed anywhere where house keeping have turned up at exactly the time of checkout. We were running 10 minutes behind and it felt a shame that they ...more
Beautifully furnished and finished cottage with everything you need. Lots of space for a big group. Great communication with owners via email and phone, and even on hand to help when needed during stay. Super clean and cosy feel inside, hot tub and outside space was lovely too. Easy location to find and park. Nearyby to shops and other towns. Thank you for a lovely stay!
What a treat, the pictures do it no justice. The house has everything you need and lovely a warm with two fabulous fireplaces for cold days.
We stayed with 2 children & our dog. The cottage was well equipped, a few lovely touches such as a home made cake on arrival. We had the log burner on a few times which gave the cottage a real cosy feel. Fin the horse was a big hit with our kids! Lovely quiet walks right on our doorstep, & well situated to visit the local Cotswold towns & villages. Would happily recommend & would stay again. 5*
Location and privacy was perfect ,the walks and open fields for the dog were sublime with just a small walk into Charlsbury . The Fold was well contained with every amenity available other than a shower which I prefer in the mornings but a nice big bath made do for a few days , the beds were very comfy with nice linen and plenty of towels to hand. We had a very enjoyable stay and would recommend The Fold
Amazing place, we will definitely stay here again at some point. The kitchen was well equipped and the stove was lovely and warm
Really great stay in this secluded cottage which was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Would thoroughly recommend.
We stayed at the Weir house for a ladies cycling weekend in September, the house was beautifully decorated and equipped. Couldn’t fault the space or location
Beecham Farmhouse is tastefully decorated and offered us a perfect location for our get together. We loved the luxurious accommodation and the kitchen was so well equipped with everything we needed. Thank you to Adele who communicated with us so well before our stay and met us on arrival. Thank you for the bubbly, the coffee and all the logs for our fires. We will definitely be booking another stay.
We had a totally wonderful Christmas week at Wynyard Mill. Gorgeous location - we could hear the Avon rushing under the house from the 1st floor - so cool! Everything was immaculate, lovely furnishings & decor, beautiful subtle lighting with lots of nice lamp options. Very helpful Welcome guide full of useful info re walks, eateries & places of interest. We cooked Christmas dinner for family here & we had all the utensils, appliances & crockery we needed. The kitchen could not have been better kitted out. We had several London friends pop over during the week and everyone fell in lov...more
Colebrook was perfect for a family Christmas . Beautifully appointed house with a lovely big kitchen ,with the handy village shop and cafe in easy walking distance. The top floor is completely taken up with a bedroom dressing room suite . With two double bedrooms and a small bunk room on the 1st floor. 10 minutes drive from moreton on marsh , full of little shops and cafes . Family trips to Warwick castle for the light show and some went to Diddly Squat!
The Hillview hideaway has been well thought out and completed to a high spec. The hot tub was a lovely addition and the cleanliness was second to none. Great location for exploring local villages and a lovely walk around Cleeve Hill. The WiFi did keep dropping out whilst watching a movie and was a little expensive for the time of year we visited (January). But as a luxury getaway it was perfect.
we were a party of 12 made up of siblings and partners celebrating a big birthday and stayed at Foxholme for 3 nights during the autumn half term. Our stay was made all the better given the house, its setting and the lovely little touches that Bolthole had gone to in order to welcome us. The beds were comfy and more importantly the bed linen was very nice (apart from no matress topper on the bed my wife and I had, but not for anyone else I hasten to add, so clearly an oversight I feel) The kitchen is great and the centre of any house and the lounges are certainly plentiful, but somewhat poin...more
Quiet, beautiful views. Cleverly designed space. Owner very helpful, friendly and easily accessible if needed
We had a lovely long weekend, we rented both the stables and the coach house - it was great to find somewhere that accommodated all of us with enough beds and for everyone to have their own en suite for such a good price. The houses themselves were in great condition, decorated perfectly for a country escape, with all the amenities you’d need. If we were to give any constructive feedback it would be that the lighting system was a little over complicated and it would of been great to of had additional comfy seating in the coach house’s main living area to gather together - but we really enj...more
A lovely comfortable stay. Betty is not your average “Shepherds Hut”. It has central heating a great shower and a wood burning stove really heats the place. Great location, just away from a quiet road, so good access.. A short drive or walk down to the village- The Cross pub was amazing. Lovely cycling, walks on your doorstep. Taurus crafts and micro brewery on your doorstep and ideally located for other tourist visits. A peaceful haven. We hope to be back soon.
The Barn at Kington Grange is a large comfortable barn with great furniture, cozy fire and large rooms (all en suite). We loved walks from the door, wild swimming on site and playing tennis. The nearest village is small and quiet (still picturesque) but Henley is only 5 minutes further away and has great pubs, restaurants and shops. Kington Grange is really well located with Stratford, Warwick and Birmingham all easily reachable. Special mention for Susan and Phil who were incredibly welcoming and gave great advice. We would happily return.
Really enjoyed our stay in this cosy super modern cottage. Kids had fun too especially when using the outdoor area. Great location for those who wish to visit the Cotswold.
Easy to find with clear instructions, lovely little village with great local farm shop and cafe. The downstairs kingsize bed is hard to get into as there is a brick wall on both sides so need to climb from the bottom up. The underfloor heating didn’t warm us up at all, we had help to try and get it warmer but was set max 19 degrees when it was 1 degree outside- had to sit under blankets and coats! Great for a couple of days away and so peaceful!
We stayed at Kington Grange as a group of couples and young families meeting from all over the country. We are a group of friends who met at university, and every year we get together to celebrate our “Friendmas”. Over the years our group has grown to 14 adults and includes dogs, 2 babies, and 2 toddlers, which has made it increasingly difficult to find a venue to suit all of our needs. Kington Grange ticked every box and more! The Midlands location was perfect for travelling from all over the country, and there was plenty of space for our cars on the property. We booked online which was v...more
Een ruim, proper, en heel gezellig huis. We hadden er een heerlijke tijd met ons gezin van vijf. Een aanrader!
After an exhausting year we were ready for a break. The Drying House was a wonderful surprise. Very clean and comfortable with the joys of 2 bathrooms. The bed was incredible and we slept like the proverbial logs. Just a couple of minutes from the lovely Ledbury town centre but completely quiet and hidden away. The kitchen was very well equipped and the first place we have ever stayed in where the kitchen knives were actually usable. There are lots of leaflets available to browse when planning days out, which was very helpful and we did the walk to Frith Wood walk which we would definite...more
Excellent property in all respects other than fronting directly onto a busy main road at peak times (60 mph speed limit). This was such a shame and detracted from our enjoyment of the incredible lounge. The property is described as nestling in the village which sadly is not really the case. Highly recommend the cottage itself if prepared to tolerate the road outside.
We chose the property to be near friends which worked really well. The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed. Would return.
Lovely stay, beautiful place, spacious, clean, ample parking and great location. Hosts were very welcoming and left some useful tips on where to eat locally.
Lovely stay at this thatched Cotswold cottage on the Mill View Estate. Plenty of room for a family of four. Nice time paddle boarding and kayaking. Staff on the site were very friendly. Good communication from owners prior to stay. Some of the decor is a bit dated.
We stayed at Forsythia cottage for a week. The cottage is in a perfect location for all local pubs/shops/cafes - everything is in walking distance. Off road parking is certainly a benefit! The cottage itself is very nice, a very well-equipped kitchen and a comfortable lounge area. The bedrooms are spacious - but the bed is a bit creaky! The bathroom has a small shower cubicle; unfortunately, when we were there, the shower door did leak a bit. If you're looking for a centrally located well-equipped cottage then Forsythia Cottage is for you :)
Generally we had a great experience. The house is spacious and well furnished. We stayed in the very large master bedroom which had quite a few stains on the carpet. These might well be dealt with by a good professional shampoo. We used most of the amenities including the BB Que and even though it ws summer, we had need of the fireplace in the lounge which was cosy and enjoyable. The people in the Matara house adjoining the property were most helpful.
We wanted to stay somewhere cosy and convenient and in the country for our reunion with our friend who was visiting from New Zealand. All three of us adored this place, the location for proximity to the Cotswolds villages and, of course, The Fleece Inn, at the end of the row of cottages. We ate there both nights and were equally delighted with both meals. A gorgeous find.
Lovely cottage in a great location, only downside was the oven was not very clean at all when we arrived which meant we could not fully use it.
Lovely cottage, had everything we needed. Nice location for attractions in the area. The Fleece Inn was just a stones throw away for great pub grub.
Thank you Michelle for your hospitality. This is a very special apartment, beautifully presented and finished and very close to the centre of Bibury. We enjoyed our brief stay and hope to return! Definitely to be recommended.
We stayed at this lovely cottage for a short break and were delighted with what we found. The house is beautiful - the pictures do not do it justice. It has a home away from home feeling about it. Extremely well equipped, very clean and very comfortable. Its location is perfect for visiting the beautiful Cotswolds villages most of which are a short 15-20 minute drive.
We had a lovely stay at grindstone mill as a university reunion with a few new baby additions to the group! We had the best time and would definitely like to return in the future!
As soon as we arrived we are all in awe of how stunning this property is and once we stepped inside we weren't disapointed! The house was immaculate and beautifully decorated, just stunning in every way! We spoke to Tracey the housekeeper on a couple of occasions and she was really helpful and kind! The location is great because you feel totally secluded yet the village is just down the road with some beautiful country pubs! We had the best weekend ever and I would highly recommend this property to any group of friends or family looking for a peaceful getaway!
We had a lovely winter stay at Swallows Rest and recommend it very highly. Beautiful setting and the cottage has everything required for a relaxing stay even in the depths of December. Warm and welcoming on arrival with twinkling Christmas tree, bowl of chocolates, and Prosecco in the fridge. Every need has been considered in the kitchen, and pretty, comfortable thoughtfully decorated rooms throughout the cottage. Thank you to Dave, who cheerfully appeared at short notice to quickly resolve a small technical challenge! We enjoyed exploring the local area and spent much time in gorgeous Broadw...more
We had a lovely time staying in this cottage. It was a great location to visit Stroud and the surrounding area!
We had a very cosy and comfortable stay and will return! Stephen and Jess were more than accommodating. Thank you x
We enjoyed a very comfortable stay over Christmas. Perfect place to get away and enjoy peace and quiet and fresh air. Thank you!
We were a party of 8 adults and the house accommodated us very well. Location is excellent - you can walk to Winchcombe centre and to Sudley Castle. Diane, the owner, was very welcoming. The only minor observation was that the dining table chairs had lost their padding which made them uncomfortable to sit on We took up Diane's suggestion of a meal at The Corner Cupboard Inn in the village which we all enjoyed.. We would highly recommend Kingfisher Cottage
Superb stunning house on the main high street in Chipping Campden. We had a lovely stay here. Super comfy and amazing decor. We were about 100m from all restaurants, shops, and pubs. Parking was right outside or about 50m away as spaces become available all the time. So was easy to load and unload. Host left us a cake on arrival and Simon who let us in was super helpful. Kitchen was amazing you will not be disappointed this is a fabulous house. Thank you Fiona I will be back soon hopefully
A lovely place to stay with all the amenities you would need, for a family special birthday that made the weekend great!!
We booked The Loft in conjunction with Kington Grange itself. This was an amazing space to use for communal activities and meals. It was really comfortable, bright and had some lovely features.
The property is very authentic and atmospheric. It has some low door jams and maybe could benefit from some warning strips. Additionally, in one of the bedrooms you can hear the local wildlife, so might be worth bringing some ear plugs. Location is very nice and quiet in the countryside and it has a big garden which is good for children.
We had a great stay at Middle Barn. The size, layout and location made it perfect for our family gathering at Christmas. The accommodation was very clean, warm and well-equipped. Yhe fridge is a total joy! Good showers and comfy beds. The owners were very helpful and their dogs and cats very friendly. The location is fabulous, very rural with walks all around.
Absolutely brilliant, wonderful party place with all guests hoping to return together next year. Small complaint, the snooker table had a significant rip which did mean it was not possible to have a proper game. Otherwise it was perfect.
We chose to stay at Lockes Cottage over Christmas and had a lovely time. We were happily surprised with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree on arrival and a bottle of bubbles in the fridge. We made use of the wood burning fireplace which was warm and cosy, as well as the kitchen which is small, but we managed to cook our Christmas dinner easily. The village was very quiet, with plenty of areas to walk our dog. All in all, we had a cosy Christmas in a beautiful cottage, so a big thank you from us!
Our party of 16 stayed here over Christmas and all enjoyed the beautiful house and gardens to the full. The property has an abundance of character and charm and is both spacious and cosy. The kitchen was well stocked with all the necessary crockery, utensils and other equipment necessary to manage a large party and the two dish washers made life far easier. Having a number of smaller rooms in which to sit and chat, it made mixing and relaxing both easy, whilst the large dining area was perfect for all to get together. The kinds of things might worry about at this time of year were all full...more
One cottage we would consider staying in again. We had everything we needed and the location suited us very well.
Enjoyed our stay at Ashworth House for birthday celebration with family. We were fortunate to have dry but cold weather.
Great location, very quiet. Kitchen well appointed. Appreciated the on site parking also. Top room is very lovely, which great views over Malmesbury. I would suggest caution if you have mobility issues, as there are steep stairs, and being an old house, the bathrooms are a little awkward.
As a party of 8, we stayed for 3 nights for a family wedding a mile away so this house was in a good location for us. The house is spacious, the beds are comfortable with very good bed linen. The walled garden is lovely and peaceful and was a great place for us to enjoy breakfast. We were grateful to receive a quick response from the owner to a problem over the front door lock. Although the house is relatively cool due to the thick walls, we did miss not being allowed to open some of the windows (there are electric fans provided in each of the 1st floor bedrooms). In the family bathroom, the d...more
We stayed here as a family for Christmas 2024 (4 days), travelling from Devon and Scotland, it was perfect for us, with two children and two dogs. The bedrooms are spacious, and the open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area was ideal—very social and perfect for family time. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped and had everything we needed to prepare a full Christmas dinner. The views and nearby walks are stunning, and the hot tub was a fantastic bonus that we all enjoyed. The guide provided in the barn is very helpful; however, the directions to the property could be more accurate, an...more
Everything was fine, should probably have extended our stay to take advantage of the facilities on site and location. Very enjoyable
Hawthorn Cottage is a spacious house well equipped for a very comfortable stay. It was quiet and had good access to the areas we were visiting. Great communication when we needed it. I would highly recommend this property.
My girlfriend and I stayed here for four nights in November 24. The property is spacious and perfect for a couple. The temperature was chilly and the wood burner was excellent. It felt very cosy throughout. The kitchen was pretty well equipped. Perhaps there could be a few more cup and glass choices but it was largely well catered for. Filter coffee was possible! The bed is a hard bed and that was the only matter that bothered me really. My girlfriend prefers it that way so was happier. The location is good, with a few walks from the door - there is a handy walking guide left for use. The circ...more
Lovely property, clean, comfortable, and everything you could want. Great garden for relaxing in. Would stay again
The warmth and quality of the interior was the first thing that struck me about this property. The kitchen was so well equipped .lots of herbs spices etc it was like being at home . We were all in need of a relaxing break and we certainly got that . We barely left the cottage as it was so cosy . If I had to critique anything it would handy to have a small welcome pack of bread, butter and eggs . Our welcome pack consisted strangely of a packet of Oreo’s and a pint of milk . I would come back and stay at barn end in a heart beat .
We had a fabulous time at the Gatehouse. Helen the housekeeper was amazing, nothing was too much trouble and she provided lots of interesting info about wild swimming in the area. The Gatehouse itself was stunning, an amazing building. We arrived on a foggy evening but the house was lit up like a beacon. The Bridge Inn pub is just around the corner and was so lovely and welcoming after our long walks. Food was lovely, traditional pub food. Everything you need for the perfect rural escape!
Our whole experience was wonderful! Communication was great, the cottage was divine and all the little extra touches (for example freshly baked bread, torches in the bedside tables, fresh flowers throughout…) were the icing on the cake. The village is adorable and the cafe and the pub were top notch. Highly, highly recommend.
Lovely spacious top notch cottage out in the countryside, very peaceful and quiet. Plenty of parking, living area way bigger than it looks in the photos and everything you might need is available. Was delighted with the heavy curtains in the bedroom ensuring we weren’t awoken by the sun at the crack of dawn. Beautiful property, just a shame we were out for most of our stay and didn’t enjoy it as much as we would’ve liked to.
Quiet location, spacious accommodation with everything we needed for our Xmas break. Beautiful decorated Xmas tree. Very prompt replies to any questions we had prior to our stay. The reason we have given 4 for some categories: Cleanliness: Fire had not been cleaned from previous users, BBQ was also very dirty, cobwebs in Bathroom Customer service: shortly before arrival we asked if we could drop bags off at 2pm rather than 3pm check in time however were advised that there would be a £20 surcharge. Also description stated freezer compartment in fridge however it did not have one. Howev...more
7 of us stayed at the Parsonage to celebrate our 60ths and we had the most wonderful time. The open plan space in the kitchen/dining/orangery was so conducive to sociability, we barely wanted to leave the house! It felt like a real privilege to stay there. Thank you so much. There were just a few little niggles which we hesitate to mention but do so as it might help future guests if attended to. There were plenty of towels in the house but only one or two of the rooms had them placed on the bed - in others there were none which we thought strange. The fob/security box for the front ga...more
Very nice cottage. Bolthole were also very helpful. I made a mistake on the initial online booking which they sorted out for me without any fuss. Excellent service.
Great interiors and lovely views from the large garden. Lots of space for our family gathering. Beds a bit soft but otherwise thoroughly enjoyed our short stay
Excellent location, comfortable, ideally situated to explore Burford and surrounding areas. Easy to access and use all amenities
Having grown up in the area, I always hoped I could visit and actually stay in the village! What a perfect find with Stone Cottage. A perfect mix of a beautiful old cottage with modern amenities. Cosy and comfortable, it was perfect for us. Stanton is the epitome of all things Cotswold and the Mount Inn never disappoints!
We spent Christmas at Browns Cottage. We found the cottage to be clean and pleasantly appointed. We had asked for Xmas decorations and there was an artificial tree with lights. Had hoped for a little more but appreciated the tree and a basket of goodies. The cottage is situated directly onto the pavement of a road which can be noisy at times and opposite and just below a Co-op supermarket. The main bedroom was used only for our stay and was comfortable with a well appointed shower room close by. The single bedroom on the same floor is small with the bed built into the alcove next to th...more
Wonderful cottage very conveniently located in Charlbury. Easy access to the shops and local pubs especially The Bull
Wonderful stone cottage in a lovely little village. Rooms were clean and kitchen is very well equipped . Towels and bedding are really good quality. Great base for seeing the Cotswolds. Minor negatives are the snug with the tv does not have very comfortable seating, especially for 5 adults, and we felt the “welcome pack “ could be improved on.
We had a lovely relaxing family get together . House setting facilities perfect We will return thank you for making us so welcome
We have just had a few days staying at Stow House and I can honestly say everything was perfect. Great house in a great town with everything on the doorstep. The house was spotlessly clean, beds were comfy, super soft towels etc. Every little thing had been thought of and we have never stayed anywhere with such a well stocked kitchen - there was LOADS of everything. Thank you Bolthole Retreats - as usual your service was exemplary - we will be back!
Woodside Cottage is a gorgeous place to stay and right in the centre of a small village with two great pubs and a Morrison’s local shop within walking distance. The house is very comfortable, stylish and has everything you need for self catering if desired. We really enjoyed playing pool and darts in the converted games room and sitting round the real fire in the evenings. There are also lots of long country walks possible from right outside your front door. We ate twice at the Kings Arms which was best for food and watched some rugby and football games at the Butchers Arms which was a fabulou...more
We booked very last minute so there was only 2 nights available for our dates but we wanted secluded, peace and quite, pretty scenery, a little bit of luxury and somewhere nice to walk. The Old Pump house gave us all of this. The drive up to the property through the forest was idyllic. The rooms were huge, all the beds and sofa were comfortable. The kitchen was large and had every utensil you could require. We had a long drive and managed to get in slightly earlier and the house keeper was quick in responding and very friendly. The biscuits on arrival were a nice touch. If I had to...more
Highly recommend this house for a large group. We were 9 ladies celebrating a friend’s 60th. It was perfect for our needs. Beautifully decorated in all rooms to a good standard. Everything you need is there. Views are amazing front and back. Safe garden we had 2 dogs with us. The location is a little out of the town and ok to walk in the day but not great for evening. Lovely walk through the castle grounds. Our only hiccup was the Tesco delivery guy couldn’t find us (at night, delivered next day) as he said there was no sign for the house and indeed on looking it’s poor so maybe that is the...more
I recently needed to book a stay for myself and my children and in my haste failed to recognise that there are two different Woodmancote villages, not all that far apart. Where I thought I was selecting a property nearer to Tewkesbury, I accidentally booked Woodmancote Manor Cottage near to Cirenceter. What an absolutely brilliant mistake! The whole experience was wonderful from start to finish. The owner of the cottage conveniently lives next door and was very gracious and attentive with welcoming messages and information prior to arrival, and then during the stay they were quietly there ...more
Two of us stayed here in January. It is a well equipped and well appointed location. Everywhere was very clean and tidy. Everything worked well. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom and shower were fine. The outside temperature was pretty cold so it took a while to heat the place when we first arrived but when we got it right it was comfortable. The location is perfect - right on the market square and the facilities in Stow are excellent - good places to eat and drink and some lovely shopping.
We booked out the Coppice for a family get together. It was a great setting and a lovely space for our family to spend some quality time together. The setting offers fantastic opportunity for pictures and has a good amount of indoor and outdoor space. The host was very responsive and on hand to resolve and issues and we really appreciated this. Thank you again for the great stay.
This property and the adjoining lodge are wonderful. We were a group of ~18, big family gathering over Christmas. The court was ideal, it had a large extremely well equipped kitchen - huge adjacent area for storing food, and enough room for many cooks in the kitchen so we could prepare our feasts. The dining room which seated >20 was right opposite with a real wood fire - such a splendid room and ambiance. Up the magnificent staircase is the formal sitting room again with a fire with tuned piano - which sounded great. The room had lovely light streaming in during the day and views of the grou...more
The house was lovely and very clean. It had everything we needed but headroom a bit low in places. For those of you with pacemakers (like me) it has an induction hob so beware! It needs rubber mats for the ensuite and bathroom. Overall very comfortable.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kimkeri. It was especially nice that we could park the car behind house and then spend most of our time walking to everything. Our granddaughter was thrilled to have a playground so close. The place was very comfortable and well equipped.
We really enjoyed our stay at Hyde Tyning Cottage. It was very well appointed, very clean and very comfortable. The location was great - tucked away at the end of a lane with lovely countryside views. We would definitely stay there again.
The house was perfect for a weekend celebration. In particular there was lots of space downstairs so we could spread out. A well equipped kitchen with plenty of plates, cutlery etc was a bonus as we ate in a couple of times. We went out walking in wild weather and on our return felt that a shoe rack and more coat hooks in the hallway would have been really helpful. The only downside; we felt the quality of the bedding and bedlinen could be improved to make the bedrooms more luxurious.
We really enjoyed staying here and found the house extremely clean and inviting. Very warm, and lovely stove. Slightly lacking in commodities - no tea towels, dishwasher tablets, detergent or recycling bags. The temperature valves on the indoor showers were not working so water was rather chilly, and one shower leaked through the ceiling, but the agents kindly arranged a same-day plumber to come and fix it. They also gave us a bag of wood for the stove, which was appreciated.
The cottage was very well appointed and had everything we needed for a lovely stay. I'd definitely recommend Maisey Cottage.
Our overall experience was absolutely delightful. We had a joyous time (daughter’s wedding at nearby Old Gore Barn) Beautiful property in lovely location, very well presented, warm, spotless, comfortable and well appointed and the owner extremely helpful, accommodating a later check out as no guest with follow on booking.
Stayed here for 2 nights as 5 couples because we had a wedding in the area to go to. The house was plenty big enough for the 10 of us. We were made to feel very welcome with a great welcome pack of essentials. The cottage is very homely and the beds are super comfortable. Shame we weren’t staying longer to spend more time exploring.
We celebrated an early Christmas at Woodland Cottage - 5 adults and 2 children and it was perfect for us. Angela personally welcomed us and had put up festive decorations which added to the warmth of the pretty cottage. The third bedroom with three single beds worked especially well and the three bathrooms were a big plus. I cooked a Christmas dinner and there were plenty of pots, pans, baking trays etc - unusual for a holiday cottage to be so well stocked. Much appreciated and dinner was delicious! The fresh local eggs provided were a real treat for breakfast too. The storms prevented us from...more
Cottage was very well prepared for our stay and well equipped. Having dedicated parking was a real bonus as on-street parking in Bourton is limited. The location is great - just a few minutes walk to the river and main street but far enough away for peace and quiet. All the attractions are within walking distance as our pubs, cafe's, restaurants, shops and grocery stores including an excellent Coop. Would definitely stay again. Bourton is very well located for visiting many of the nearby villages and towns.
This was perfect for old friends catching up with a dog and children - spacious, clean and cosy. The only feedback would be that it was quite hard to find arriving in the dark, as house names are not visible and there wasn’t enough signal to use apps.
Absolute lovely place very peaceful with some great walks not too far away. The Cottage has everything that you would want ( home from home) we stayed for the festive period , a nice welcome when we walked through the door that the house had been decorated for Christmas. Would definitely recommend & return here again. Beautiful!! Many thanks
We all had a very enjoyable stay in the cottage which had everything we needed. Very well maintained with character and the cleaning and maintenance staff do an excellent job.
Lovely property, all amenities, warm and comfortable. Stunning walks around the lakes and short distance from the lovely town of Cirencester.
5 stars. A wonderful property in a great location. Perfect for exploring Cheltenham and beyond. Highly recommended.
Had a wonderful stay lovely house and garden. Couple of issues with hot water and we were unable to connect sound system and screen quite complicated with so many remote controls. Didn’t particularly like the open plan toilet configuration in the main bedroom prefer a door on our loo. Lack of hot water for everyone was a problem. But overall a very pleasant stay
We loved our long weekend at Spring Barn. It was sparklingly clean, very comfortable for our family, and ideally situated for exploring the Cotswolds. The road to get to the driveway is single track, but that’s exactly what we were looking for in time away from the city. Close to good villages, shops, and walks (we loved taking advantage of the book of suggested walks), then a welcome refuge to return to and sit by the fire. Thank you!
Beautiful cottage wonderfully decorated in a lovely location. However the kitchen is a nightmare to navigate as everything is hidden away, the tiny fridge was hidden under the stairs down a step not the easiest thing to access. Our biggest issue was the heating which is controlled externally the cottage was freezing when we arrived as no heating was on despite it being November then the electric went, then came back in we had to continually communicate with the house keeper all week to keep turning the heating on as the house was not warm which was a pain and interrupted our whole stay. Everything was good apart from the supply of mugs- there were only 5 for a property that says it is for up to 6 people- and likewise only 5 teacups- which is not sufficient. The only criticism.
Siskin Barn is beautifully designed with a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern amenities. We stayed as a group of friends for a special birthday celebration and everyone was blown away by this place. Our favourite things were, the underfloor heating, cleanliness, hot tub, log burner, American style fridge freezer, kitchen appliances, and extra touches such as bath robes, flip flops and extra towel for the hot tub. Was in a quiet spot but within walking distance of pubs, Indian & Chinese restaurants. Also only 15 minutes drive from Stratford upon Avon. All in all amazing! Would love to st...more
Brilliant communication from start to finish. The cottage was spotlessly clean and comfortable and luxuriously fitted out. Everything that you needed to make the weekend a success was supplied, including plenty of logs for the fire, books and games, coffee machine, beautiful bedding, Smart TV. Everything looked brand new. Wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. Lovely welcome pack on arrival including a bottle of fizz, which was a nice touch. Would definitely stay at this fabulous cottage again.
We stayed in Thimble Cottage to welcome in the New Year. It was perfect! Everything about it was amazing. It’s so pretty on the outside and decorated like a little English cottage should be. The location is amazing. There is no parking but we managed to get a space towards the pub/church which is only a 2 min walk away. The welcome hamper is such a kind thing to do and little touches just make it even better. Rachel, the owner was really easy to reach and so helpful. Would love to go back.
The house was beautiful with plenty of room for everyone, it was very warm & cosy except one bedroom at the end of the upper floor, there was a huge wood burner in the lounge & a decent sized table for us all to sit around for food, drinks or just a chat, a couple of the guests that had downstairs rooms mentioned they had an issue with their showers, they were unable to keep the shower head in it’s cradle on the wall, there were plenty of rooms for adults & kids to enjoy & the hot tub was a success with us all, we had three small dogs that were able to get out of the enclosed garden which was ...more
We had a family group of 7 adults and an extra two for Christmas lunch. All were accommodated with individual comfortable bedrooms and the large living areas made it easy to entertain a large group like this. The kitchen worked perfectly for Xmas day and for the other meals- well equipped and spacious. Open fire was a nice addition. And the ample Welcome Pack was much appreciated.
A very well equipped cottage. A little smaller than looks on the website though. In convenient position for town amenities & country walks on doorstep.
No logs supplied and not told where to get them which was essential as the owners had control of the heating and kept turning it off. Unacceptable in winter when paying a good rent. Garden a mess. Second bedroom needs a new bed as you have to climb into it from the bottom . Only fit for children .
We booked Juliets cottage already vaguely knowing Charlbury but couldn't have expected how much it would exceed our expectations. The location is perfect, a very short walk to everything you need including the pubs, deli and a little further on, the Co-Op. The house was perfect and cosy with storm Darragh blowing away. We will definitely be booking again and can't wait to return.
The bolt hole site sells the dream with ‘optimised’ pictures of the cottage and majors on the aesthetics that you’ll find. And in the main, that’s all you need if the shower is good and the bed is comfy with clean linen. Which both were. However for the money I forked out for 3 nights. I found missing kitchen implements, mixed messaging in terms of eg a washing up kit (no sponge or scourers), a broken window. Poor maintenance. A junk cupboard. Sofas that were neither cottagey or comfy (corporate style sofas). But worst of all the cottage really smelt damp and there was visible black mould ...more
We stayed for 3 nights at Ledge View, which is in a wonderful location near to Chipping Campden, Broadway and other beautiful Cotswold villages. The Nissen Hut was unique and very well appointed, decorated, clean and tidy. It shares the grounds with a much larger hut, which was unoccupied at the time we stayed, but which would be great for a large group of people. Ledge View was the perfect accommodation for 4 adults (beds for 6) and a lively Cocker Spaniel, who loved the outdoor space and the nearby National Trust land at Dover's Hill. It was especially beneficial having the downstairs bed...more
Another great stay on a very nice house in a perfect location for walking the dogs and then going to the pub for a beer or two.
This is a lovely terraced cottage in a surprisingly secluded little haven just off the High Street. Its beautiful courtyard garden is private and deceptively generous in size. I struggled with the Amazon Echo, as Alexa only spoke French, but we sorted it eventually! Although the Welcome Pack doesn’t mention it, there is a dedicated car parking space with a car parking pass for a small / medium sized car which is very desirable in Broadway! All in all we had a lovely weekend at Box Cottage and were not disappointed at all.
Second time we have come to these properties, this time with family and friends to see in 2025. Excellent stay.
Have stayed at this cottage on the Sudeley Castle estate many times before. It’s an excellent location for exploring the Cotswolds, and such a pretty village. The real Christmas tree was a lovely touch. Excellent walking routes nearby.
A charming and beautifully secluded property perfect for unplugging from the rush and stress of daily life. The cottage was full of nooks and crannies to explore but big enough for the whole family to feel like everyone had their own space. The perfect place to enjoy the beautiful countryside but still close enough to beautiful villages and places of interest to explore
We have stayed at this location a number of times over the years. This particular cottage has been upgraded and is very pleasant indeed. We even had a Christmas tree. Sudeley Castle is nearby and we attended the light show just before Christmas. Winchcombe always interesting. We spent five days over Christmas and enjoyed it all.
lovely little cottage, as expected. Beds very comfortable, bathroom a little small but expected for a small country cottage. Could do with a little attention to soft furnishings to give it the real wow factor.

This property was a fabulous setting to celebrate an important birthday. A gorgeous rambling building. Possibly the one disadvantage was the lounge rooms were a little bit small to accommodate everyone comfortably but we managed. The dining room was great. Otherwise loads of space and well appointed. Everyone would definitely be happy revisit this property. The 3 dogs loved it too! The manager of housekeeping team exceedingly helpful.
The cottage was as I expected and fine for 2 people. I had hoped there would have been some logs for the fire. So that was the disappointing aspect. But I would stay again
beautiful, well appointed, cozy and comfortable cottage. the cottage was very clean, well kept and we really appreciated the Xmas tree and other Xmas decoration details throughout the living and dinning room/kitchen. it slept the five of us plus our newly born granddaughter very comfortably. the only one remark is that the two bathrooms, especially the shower room, are small , some shelving in the shower room would help to unpack ones toiletries
Fabulous place in a beautiful, quiet area and we had a fabulous stay. The inside was perfectly clean although windows need cleaned outside. An extra sofa in the living area would be good. Highly recommended.
Excellent accommodation and location. ideal for exploring cotswolds. Everything you need is provided… a real treat.
The cottage was beautiful and even more spacious than the pictures. The kitchen and living rooms were really big and made catering to a group easy. The furnishings are really high standard for a holiday let. There were provisions like oil, salt, tea, coffee, and all the cookware and utensils you'd need to cook a large meal. The kitchen window view and garden were stunning. The heating was brilliant and easy to work so we had a nice cosy stay. It is in a small hamlet so good location for getting away from it all. The parking was a little tricky but we just parked one car on the road and one und...more
We really enjoyed our break in Jasmine cottage. It was very well equipped and comfortable. Our only complaints were finding it was difficult due to the roadworks nearby and the ensuite shower was unreliable but this did not spoil our stay. It was well positioned for exploring the area
Our family of 5 stayed here for a few nights. The cottage is lovely and the kitchen is a particularly good size. It was clean, well equipped and all the furniture is in good condition, although we all thought the beds were not long enough. We also did not expect to have neighbours in an apartment on a floor above the cottage, they were quite noisy and it detracted from the cottage feel. There is parking behind the cottages but we struggled to find a park some days. We liked to proximity to the village and walks in the surrounding countryside.
The accommodation itself was very nice, spacious and clean with everything you might need including milk and tea/coffee which was a nice touch. The hot tub had a couple of issues - headrest hanging off and two sets of jets did not seem to be working fully. For us though what really let it down was the lack of some nice garden furniture. The weather was lovely and whilst there was an old wooden picnic table it would have been lovely to have some nice up-to-date seating outside.
We enjoyed it very much to " own" this cozy cottage for a week, we really felt at home. The equipment and cleanliness were first class, the welcome kit and the presents were very kind and highly appreciated. I want to mention either the friendliness of the staff and the good contacts with Bolthole Retreats. Thank you!! Winchcombe is a beautiful little town, the cottage is only a few steps away from the High Street, the surrounding Cotswolds landscape can be discovered on good walking ways. There are nice little shops, two supermarkets and several pubs and cafes nearby. I recommend the Cottage...more
Just enjoyed a wonderful stay in this beautiful cottage. It’s tastefully decorated with a fully equipped kitchen, super comfy beds and cosy lounge with a lovely fire. It is a Grade 2 Listed cottage so you must take that into account - the stairs are steep but we didn’t have a problem with that and only one bumped head! :) Situated in Malmesbury we had a lovely walk around the town and everything is there from welcoming pubs, lovely restaurants and plenty of shops for anything you need. A really wonderful stay.
We had a lovely stay and slept very well. Some items in the kitchen (plates and glasses) had been left greasy and we thought fire safety could be improved (the nature of the windows, with such narrow panes, was a little unnerving!) The information about the local area and nearby walks was fantastic and the location was excellent, close to the centre of the village but very peaceful. We would stay with Bolthole Retreats again.
Sudeley guest cottage was just amazing. It was very comfortable and clean and a lovely little welcome package. We were so disappointed that our stay was cut short because of the Red Alert in Edinburgh and could only stay overnight. We had planned to stay 2 nights and explore the Cotswolds. If we are ever back we would definitely stay here and highly recommend the property
A group of family and old friends wanted a weekend away to relax, wine and dine and watch some rugby! We couldn’t have chosen a more comfortable and spacious property. Everything was spot on - fabulous kitchen/diner/living space with big sofas and a great wood burner. Bedrooms were luxurious and bathrooms lovely. The whole place was quirky but wonderful. Highly recommend. Very responsive owner. Cafe Bruern does great breakfasts and a nice walk to get there.
I stayed at Poplar House with my family this fall and this fabulous house sure fit the bill. 4 generous bedrooms, a well stocked kitchen and space to spread out or gather as needed. We looked out at fields as the house sits at the end of a village but were steps away from a pub and other amenities offered up by the small village. This was a great spot to take a deep breath
A great place for a relaxing stay and a dip in the hot tub. Fantastic location and gatehouse is very comfortable and cosy.
Says it all in the title. Cottage was clean and tidy, bed was comfortable (we only used one room). Kitchen was well kitted out. Location was perfect for various attractions.
We booked the cottage for two nights in order to attend a wedding at the Castle. The property had everything that was required for a self catering stay. On arrival, some handy essentials such as teabags, coffee sachets, milk, biscuits and small pots of preserves were provided. The cottage was immaculately clean and chairs, sofa and beds were comfortable. The company renting the property ensured that comprehensive information was given via email prior to the arrival date and in two files placed at the property. A very professional setup.
We had the most wonderful time at South Winds. The property is in a fantastic location and is only a short walk into the heart of Bourton on the water. We were a party of 6 adults, 1 child, 2 infants and a dog and the property could not have been more perfect. The large open plan kitchen diner was a perfect space for kids to run around whilst the adults socialised. The property is well kept and so so beautiful. Communication from the house manager was brilliant and she was very accommodating. We would definitely stay again and recommend South winds as a place to stay if you are coming to Bourt...more
Beautiful cottage in a very quiet hamlet (not in Burford itself). Comfortable beds and very peaceful.
Excellent place to stay Tea coffee milk left for us on arrival Very comfortable every kitchen utensil provided. Downstairs shower small All in all a cute place to stay I would book again.
We loved our stay at Sixpenny Cottage. It is such a gorgeous and cozy cottage with beautiful views over the valley. We had stayed there before in 2020 and will certainly be going back. Thank you Rosie for being so helpful.
Our stay at the Gatehouse initially was very disappointing due to several issues. When we arrived the kitchen was full of bluebottles! I purchased some fly spray and must have killed 25-30 followed by 4 or 5 per day. The downstairs bedroom had some nasty looking stains on the headboard, (the bed was very old and traditional) the pillow protectors had dribble stains and the bed sheet had a dirty mark across the top of it. The internet was not working. The out of hours phone number didn’t even ring so as we arrived on a Saturday no contact could be made until office hours on the Monday. No ide...more
Great location, close to walks and pubs. Lovely accommodation, clean and comfortable with lovely views. Perfectly suited!
In my opinion the photos showed a more desirable condition of the accommodations than they actually are. Unfortunately, during our stay demolition was taking place on the property next door so it was not the quite serene get away that I had anticipated. Lovely grounds and in close proximity of Witney.
Unfortunately we were unable to enjoy our stay at the Bothy due to an insect infestation. These also ended up on our bed. At first glance the house was clean, but upon closer inspection it turned out that a lot of dirt and (dead and living) insects were in corners, baseboards and under the bed. We have not been able to reach the owners for consultation about the insects or extra cleaning. We did have telephone contact with someone on the last day. We are disappointed with the response, because the problem was not taken seriously. The problem was made smaller than it was. There was no question ...more
Free entry to Sudeley castle is a nice bonus. Assistance with issues (they were only small ones) were dealt with promptly. Good proximity to village and supermarkets
Corn close is amazing and very spacious, unfortunately when we arrived there were unmade beds and we had to clean all dishes and cups before using. Other than that we had a great stay for Christmas and location was perfect with great views.
Brilliant holiday home in a beautiful location, enjoyed waking up to the ducks and going out on the lake, in between spending time at the pool.
It’s perfectly situated with Bourton on the Water, Broadway and Stow in the Wold all nearby. The cottage is tastefully decorated with a wonderful log burner, fully equipped kitchen and comfy bed. Lovely pub just 1 minute away.
The cottage was in a really good location a short (steep!) walk into Tetbury. It was warm welcoming, comfortable and well equipped. Bear in mind it has steep stairs to the top floor. Castle Combe was a half hour drive away & Westonbirt only 10/15 minutes away. Tetbury has lots of local shops, eateries and pubs.
Communication great, property met our needs, well equipped kitxhen (could do with a large mixing bowl!). Cleanliness in general good, downstairs loo needed the skirting boards and towel radiator cleaning. Shower good. Would be good to oil the door of the first bedroom at the top of the stairs.
We had family visiting from Australia for Christmas and this was the perfect place to stay. It was well laid out with everything needed for a wonderful stay. Would definitely stay here again!
While for the most part the property was clean and comfortable it’s showing signs of wear and tear, dated decor and poor maintenance. Perhaps the most important is that the lights on the stairs and landing didn’t work. This is a serious health and safety hazard and the property should not be let again until remedied. The carpet was stained in places, and while creaking floorboards might be expected in an older property, squeaky hinges and the all the doors aren’t acceptable, when a can of oil is all it takes. On the upside, the location is great and it was good value for money.
We stayed for a week over Christmas. Overall, we would give the home 4 out of 5 stars. It's very cozy and exactly as pictured making it memorable holiday. With that said, we found the beds to be slightly uncomfortable for the extended stay and it could have been a bit more cleaner upon arrival.
A perfect place to stay for a slightly larger family gathering; almost home from home. As soon as you step into the barn you feel relaxed, away from the busyness of everyday life. Felt sad to leave after such a special weekend.
Management team were excellent in communicating with us. The place was lovely, however there were some items left in the cupboards (inc stale coffee) and fridge (milk) that could have been replaced with fresh coffee/ coffee pods for the coffee machine.
Great location. However the property is a little tired and needs updating. Grouting in the bathroom and kitchen needs redoing. One of the fittings to the toilet cistern needs fixing. Carpets need cleaning or replacing. The decor is a little confused with ultra modern radiators and then vintage bathroom fittings and furniture. The kitchen units are getting very old and don't open very well. The property does not live up to the pictures on the website and is expensive for the poor quality accommodation .
A substantial accommodation, large rooms and decent kitchen area. All heating was off when we arrived and 6 degrees c outside and similar inside, as it’s a big, old property with central heating, it was the second day before it was starting to become comfortable, and warm just as we were leaving. The seating in the main sitting room needs replacing as very little support left in the chairs and sofa, so we used other rooms. The wood burner is very nice addition, bring your own logs if you intend to use it for more than one day, as that’s what is supplied. If you are uncomfortable with spi...more
We enjoyed our time at charming Amber Cottage very much. Convenient location, comfortable and clean with everything we needed. Thank you, we would love to stay again!
This was a perfect little hideaway for a weekend break. Set in beautiful grounds it was a great location and so peaceful. Will definitely be returning.
Location was perfect but just a few things that could have made our stay better 1. Heated towel rails 2. Better quality towels and crockery 3. Access to log store 4. Lamps in living room Apart from the above we did enjoy our stay
Great location and a lovely characterful cottage which we rented for 2 couples. Beds were really comfortable and it’s very tastefully furnished. However it’s shame there isn’t another armchair in the living room as the wooden window seat isn’t the most comfortable. Also a microwave would be handy in the kitchen.
What a treat to arrive to a warm fire, beautifully decorated Christmas tree, wine and cake. Bluebell is a beautiful cottage. Magnificent views. My only negative is that if you are wishing to self-cater, the crockery and cutlery is quite limited.
We booked the Cottage for a surprise birthday weekend for my mum. I contacted Alice the cleaner a couple of days before to find out whether we could check in earlier and we was able to which was brilliant. The Cottage is beautiful, with a lovely view over the countryside. The rooms aren't a bad size for a cottage and it has two bathrooms, one which is very large with a massive shower. There are a selection of games and DVDs in the lounge. It was also very helpful having a dishwasher and washing machine etc. The fridge/freezer is a very good size. The Cottage was pretty clean, the...more
This is a lovely place with lots of character. Perfect for a group stay and close to where we needed to be.
We stayed here for 2 nights and it was the perfect break! The house is beautiful with all the amenities you need. The garden was lovely and our dog thoroughly enjoyed running around and seeing the sheep every morning. The surrounding were amazing and incredibly peaceful. Would definitely recommend staying here and we will be returning next year!
This house is a beautiful stay, perfect for two families and a dog in tow! The children loved the garden, the rooms were spacious and you can tell this was once an immaculate home with lovely decor. Unfortunately we did notice several things through our stay that was a little disappointing considering this was our only family holiday and something we were really excited about. Firstly the Floors were dirty causing children’s white socks to be black. I can imagine cleaning a house of this size sometimes dust collects etc but this was noticeably dirty within the first few hours of arriving. Bani...more
Lovely village but parking impossible! Two pubs neither food for food but nearest nice for drink. Beds ok but a bit soft, biggest not a king size as advertised, second bedroom tiny no proper hanging space. Cottage nicely furnished but very difficult stairs with grab rails and poor outside space, badly maintained with very steep stairs up to it. Not value for money as too many things were a problem or missing , e.g. half size kettle, one cup caffe tier, mini freezer compartment iced up . Would not recommend booking with Bolthole Retreats as very unhelpful.
Comfortable well-furnished cottage with a beautiful view outside our windows where we enjoyed our stay. There were some nice hikes around the property and we took one of them. There was a cute pub close by. The road to the property was long and narrow. Recommend stocking up on a few basic groceries before you get there because the cottage does not have any. Our access code for the door did not work when we got there on a cold, dark, rainy evening. A few communications later we got the correct code.
