Dating from the mid-1750s this characterful cottage has been thoughtfully extended and now offers a beautifully spacious holiday home for up to eight guests. Traditional features including an inglenook fireplace and wooden beams sit comfortably alongside a spacious kitchen/diner, and an expansive, light-filled living room. Step outside and you’ll find a pretty garden, leading down to the River Swere and an inviting outdoor entertaining space. The outstanding food pub Duck on the Pond is next door and is highly regarded for its tasting menu and home grown produce.

We had a wonderful weekend break, Beautiful cottage, very well appointed,
The walk to the Duck on the pond was a bit hazardous!!

We had a great stay here. We were a party of 8 including 2 children.

Lovely accommodation and excellent kitchen.

We really enjoyed our time at Gladstone Cottage.

First of all the house is exactly what you might want for a weekend away. It is well equipped. However, what the information on the house does not tell you is that it is located right on the side of an extremely busy main road, on a dangerous double bend, without any pavement to walk on and there is no lighting. You step out of the garden onto the main road. Even walking to the pub which is right next door involved a hazardous walk as we had vehicles driving past at speed and we had to step into the shrubs to get out of the traffic. At night it is pitch black so it is an accident waiting to happen. Getting out of the driveway is difficult due to it having a steep slope, with little sight of the oncoming traffic until you are committed to pulling out. We started parking in the pub car park and walking to the house because of the problems. At night, the traffic is noisy and constant and we were all aware of the traffic throughout the night. The house is completely separate to the village so does not feel part of it. It is not in a serene village setting. I have re-read the information on the booking form and it does not provide any indication of the issues that are only obvious once you get there. It's unfair not to provide some warning.

Had a great stay at this cottage with a group of seven. Rooms are really spacious and lots of entertaining space both inside and out!

We booked Gladstone house for a family celebration for a birthday, mixed group of ages 3-70 and the house suited us perfectly. It really is beautifully appointed, the kitchen is a cooks dream so no fear of not being able to cook if you want. We found the games cupboard and enjoyed, lots of DVD's and books.
Loved the washer and drier and so nice to be able to wash the napkins we'd used plus some muddy clothes from an exuberant game of cricket in the lovely garden.
Quality bedding, towels and furnishings everywhere and we loved the variety of different spaces so even if the weather was terrible and you were all indoors it would never feel cramped.
Perfect stay thank you

Stayed at the cottage for our daughter’s wedding which was being held nearby. Very comfortable, exceptionally clean and the lovely garden was a great bonus especially as the weather was very sunny and warm.
Four good sized bedrooms , 2 reception rooms and a great kitchen with all you need.

Gladstone Cottage was a beautiful place for a holiday, so much room, everything was spotless, modern and plentiful. The kitchen is stunning, and had every amenity I could ever have hoped for!

The bedrooms were big and spacious, 3 of the 4 with en-suite and the living room was both light, comfortable and big, but also cosy.

Lovely cottage for family get together. Better than the photos. One of the best equipped kitchens I’ve had on a holiday rental. Quick communication with the owner.

Lovely cottage. Ideal for families although care needed with young toddlers due to stream at bottom of garden and proximity to road. High standard mix of old and new and spacious accommodation. Plenty of parking. Would definitely recommend.

The cottage is beautiful and we had a fantastic stay. There was ample space to host our group, and it's lovely that you can wander to the pub next door for dinner. Great communication from the owners. I would recommend this place as a great house to rent for a group of friends and family.
