large, classically beautiful country side set amidst 1500 acres, Burgie House is a welcoming and family friendly holiday house that is perfect for a large group. This much loved, large family house is traditional and welcoming with plenty of public space, including a wonderful basement billiard room and a fantastic ceilidh room – a great “play area” for young and old – with plenty of break away space for everyone. This house is traditional and beautiful so do not expect modern furniture and fabrics but do expect warmth, antiques, charm and character. Spacious traditional bedrooms all have lovely views across the paddocks or majestic trees at the rear.

Outside, there are beautiful grounds complete with Arboretum and lochans, paddocks, natural woodlands and walking/cycling tracks as well as large lawns, BBQ areas. You can bring your own horse should you wish. Burgie can offer you field sports on the estate, catering for all or some of your meals if you prefer not to self cater and some housekeeping should you wish.

The area offers a multitude of activities for all ages with excellent beaches along the coastline, championship golf courses on the doorstep, distilleries, historic castles such as Brodie and Cawdor and battlefields such as Culloden Moor, all within easy reach. Inverness airport is less than 30 minutes drive away and the city offers every facility you would expect. Nearby Forres is an attractive market town with supermarkets, hotels and pubs. It is an excellent area for a great holiday and with a marvelous house like Burgie to return to at the end of the day, you will have a truly memorable holiday.

We came as a residential group of 21 people, with another 15 people attending during the day as non-residents. We are a Mindfulness Group and were organising a Retreat for people from all over Scotland. We so appreciated the flexibility of The House, ie Sarah, in making our stay easy and comfortable. When we met a problem with burnt-out radiators in the East Wing rooms, they were quickly mended. The House is a joy - lots of comfortable sitting spaces, a pleasing variety of bedrooms of different types, open fires for the evenings. The grounds spill out into the beautiful arboretum. We plan ...more

This was our second stay at Ben Kilbreck Lodge so we knew exactly what we were getting. A well laid out lodge with comfy beds and the added bonus of a hot tub to keep everyone relaxed. This is an ideal base for exploring the Moray coast and the Inverness area with most places of interest a maximum of an hour away but with plenty to keep you interested within a short distance. Tesco and Lidl are a short drive away to make sure you are stocked up if needed.

Latest Review - July 2023

The Lodge was lovely, tasteful decor throughout, providing a beautiful view over the Moray Firth. Although the weather was showery during our stay, we still managed some lovely, relaxing Evenings in the Hot Tub, admiring the view. The Lodge was clean, not spotless. Decking not enclosed for our Dogs. Cushions for outside furniture had been left outside and were saturated with the heavy rain. Road upto Lodge was atrocious, took circa 10-15 minutes to get to/from the Main Road to ensure our cars and tyres were not damaged. We fully understand the Lodge is on a working Farm, but we felt the...more
