Shetland Lighthouse Holidays offer self catering holiday accommodation at three of Shetland's lighthouses. Stunning scenery, rural locations and the sounds of seabirds and the ocean all around - a perfectly unique getaway!
We have just come back from a few days staying at the Sumburgh Head Lighthouse holiday cottage and it has to be one of our favourite holidays ever.
The former lighthouse keeper's cottage is right at the base of the lighthouse and at the end of the complex, so the views are astonishing. What an amazing location the cottages are In. Frank greeted us and made us feel right at home telling us a lot about the history of the place.Having that context and spending time with someone who is a local and knows the place so well, was really inspirational . He made our guide special. We thought the cottage itself was extremely clean and cosy. We'd recommend a stay (however brief!) to anyone.
Throughout the year I traveled to many places within UK and abroad, and my trip to Shetlands was the best of them all. Staying in the lighthouse was an excellent decision, as it made this trip unique. Bressay lighthouse is located on the edge of the island, away from the town in a quiet place. There is nothing like listening to the sea at night under a thousands of stars!
