Our second stay at The Birdie. This time with our grandson and family. The house is in a quiet location with parking and a level 20 minute walk into York itself, slightly longer with a toddler! The house is spacious and benefits from a secure, flat garden backing onto the 18th hole of the local golf course. The apple tree continues to drop apples, so not a good idea to stand under it for any length of time. It was a suntrap in the garden, but managed to find shade most of the time.
Inside, the bedrooms are a good size with plenty of storage and large, comfortable beds. The fans were most welcomed in them. There is an upside bathroom with a large shower, but no bath.
The kitchen is well equipped and benefits from a utility room with a washing machine and downstairs toilet. Great to eat meals at the dining table, and then relax on chairs and sofa in living room.
The Birdie was generally clean when we arrived, but paintwork needs a bit of freshening up. Last year, it wasn't so noticeable. The back door didn't open and Stays York came out to look promptly, with maintenance due to look at, but this didn't happen. Not a major issue as bifold doors opened from dining area to give rear access. Might not be so good when weather gets wetter.
We really like the location of the house and the space it offers. It is in a pleasant residential road with a Co-op a 5 minute walk away. We will certainly return again as love York and the surrounding area.

Beautiful house and location, open aspect within, modern facilities all round, nice garden with views onto golf course where deer and foxes can be seen, only one issue was noise from water pipes upstairs, may need some valves tweaking, all in all a very nice stay , thankyou

We had a wonderful week at The Birdie. The house was clean, light and spacious with plenty of equipment available to use. The fans were a great addition. Enjoyed the shower every day and sitting at the breakfast bar to eat or do my puzzle. Parking was good for 2 largish vehicles and the location was very quiet and well cared for. Sitting in the garden was lovely, listening to people playing golf and avoiding the apples falling off the tree! Our dog loved it. It was a very private garden and we enjoyed the time we sat out there. Again, lots of space. The beds were huge and very comfortable and there was plenty of storage. The walk into York City Centre took 20 minutes and is flat and accessible to all. York has an abundance of pubs, restaurants and cafes as well as so much history. We are used to having more information about recycling collection days and felt that more general information may have been helpful, although a folder with basic information was at the house. We would certainly recommend the house for a holiday and hope to return in the near future.

We booked this property as our daughter was graduating and needed a comfortable place to stay - it did not disappoint! The location is in a nice quiet cul de sac with ample parking and only took about 20 min walk to get to the city centre. The Asda a few mins drive down the road was perfect to stock up on all the essentials on our arrival.
The garden backs onto a golf course so there was no noise/disruption other than the very distant sound of traffic the other side of the golf course. Enjoyed sitting watching the birds in the garden.

On arrival the house was very clean and comfortable. Having only one shower meant a bit of pre-planning amongst us to all get ready but did not cause any issue. The lounge/kitchen/diner/reception are very spacious, light and airy. A fan might come in handy as during summer the kitchen can get quite hot with the big bi-fold doors/windows. The beds were comfortable - we all slept well.

In all we had a lovely stay and would definitely come back again. Stays York are very responsive to any questions you may have. Many thanks!

Thank you for leaving such a positive review! We’re so pleased to hear that you had an enjoyable stay with us at The Birdie and we hope to welcome you back in the future. Following your feedback regarding the lack of fans in the kitchen area, we’ve now purchased two tower fans to help improve comfort so thank you for bringing this to our attention. We really appreciate your input as it helps us continue to improve guest experience. Many thanks, Elizabeth

Super location for walking or getting the No 9 bus from the next road (every 12 minutes) into the centre of York.
Very spacious property with super comfy huge beds in both double rooms. Really appreciated the cleanliness of the whole of the house and the lovely shower room.
The garden backing onto the golf course was great outside space, much appreciated by us and the dogs.
Bit of road noise from the main road the other side of the course, and we would have appreciated fans or air con as, with all the glass, it can get very warm.
I’d also say, although it states a car can go in the garage, it would have to be extremely small.
Overall a beautiful house, clean, comfy and a great location for visiting York and forgetting about the car.

Thank you for your feedback on the property - it's very helpful for future guests! Following your comments about the heat in the kitchen area due to the large bi-fold doors, we’ve now added two tall tower fans to improve comfort. We've also updated the property details to remove the note about parking in the garage space as there is plenty of parking available in front of the property and on the gravel area for guests to use. We really appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back in the future! Kind regards, Elizabeth

A wonderful home to enjoy.

We had a fabulous family weekend in The Birdie. 4 adults and 2 toddlers. Very well equipped for us all to eat in. Fantastic enclosed garden for the kids to run around in and lovely to see the golfers playing at the bottom of the garden. Very comfortable beds and masses of hot water. Lots of extras to make up easy picnics etc. and enough space for 2 cars off street. Would definitely be back.

The Birdie was the perfect stay for a family of 6 (2 adults, 3 teens and family dog!)
The kitchen and dining area was fabulous and well equipped, the lounge was comfortable and the garden was great, we where lucky with the weather and managed to eat in the garden on both evenings.
The Birdie is within perfect walking distance of the city of York - which meant we could leave the car at the house and explore on foot.
I would recommend staying here and would definitely come back!

The house is absolutely stunning. Immaculately clean and well presented. All the information was well presented and we had everything we needed. Unfortunately the sofa collapsed within minutes of arrival, simply because our elderly relatives sat on it. Stays York were quick and friendly in their response, but there was little that could be done in our short stay. It was disappointing to hear this had happened before and the repair clearly hadn't been successful. It was a shame as it meant we couldn't relax as a family as intended. We were told to stack books under the sofa for our stay, which we managed as we had able-bodied people in our party, but it would not have been an option if it had just been our elderly relatives. We also couldn't pull the second child bed out fully due to the doorstop in the room. We made it work well enough for our family, but the room isn't big enough for two single beds side by side. Bunkbeds would be a more practical solution in the space. The second child bed had not been made up for us. The adult bedrooms were well presented and equipped, and the beds were very comfortable. The neighbourhood is quiet, with shops in easy reach, and it was a simple walk into York. It's so close to being 5 stars across the board, and it really has the wow factor, but the practical elements need addressing.
