Once again Melfort Village delivered a wonderful relaxing holiday. Plenty for the children to do and relaxing for parents as they are perfectly safe. The new take away service from the Shower of herring was great, so handy after a busy day doing nothing.
As it says on the title. First class accommodation +staff + restaurant. Kat the manageress was ace! All good.
Melfort cottage was clean and cosy and perfect for 2. It was great to find such good accommodation which was also dog friendly. The welcome was excellent and everyone was so helpful. Meals at the Shower if Herrings were delicious home cooked bar food. The only addition I would make in the cottage would be a footstool to get the feet up at night infront of the fire. We moved the large coffee table as it took us too much room. Remember to take your own groceries. Ideal place for families and dog owners.
Really high standard. Very well equipped and comfortable. Staff very friendly and gave great advice regarding local information.
This was a great place to spend a week with the family. Our boys (10,11,13) loved it. Enough activities on site for the rainier moments and great access to the outdoors all around and good attractions within 30 minutes so great as a base. The staff were extremely helpful and helped us book excursions and the great local village hall for badminton. Beechwood House itself was great. Set apart from the main buildings in the village but only just so perfect location for us.
Beautiful place to experience quiet and peace in excellent accommodation - especially if weather good. It is remote and roads are full of bends so take care!
We have just returned from a very relaxing week at Melfort. We stayed in the Quarry Cottage which was charming, clean, very well equipped and maintained to a high standard as was all of the grounds and amenities. This was our second visit and we are going again in November. Staff are very helpful & pleasant. Thank You
All excellent as expected. We have stayed often in Walled Garden and Quarry Cottage with my sister-in-law Marie Bell. This was our booking and just as good.
Once again Melfort takes first prize. The attention to care, service and standards ensured that our stay was wholly enjoyable. The appointment of Kat and her husband for the Restaurant was great with her personality, efficiency and qualitative food at reasonable prices adding to the already qualitative package. A big thank you to Linda and all her colleagues. Ian & Marilyn
beautiful location and great customer service
After staying in the walled garden the week before this we felt that the farm cott was a little tied, but we had a nice time and staff were very nice. Again we would have liked to use the restaurant, which was closed and the bar had it been open on more than one occasion.
3 day stay in warm modern cottage. Great place for family with kids. Pool, tennis court, playpark and games rooms. Bedroom could do with some modernisation and perhaps a new mattress.
We had a lovely break despite the weather, with jigsaws and games provided in the lodge as well as TV and DVD in lounge and bedroom and CD player. Kitchen was well stocked and beds very comfortable. Above all it was peaceful, friendly and staff were very helpful. Good food is available, but remember to book, even for a takeaway on busy nights. And there were lots of birds to watch which delighted our twitcher!
Enjoyed our week at Melfort Village. Beautiful, quiet resort. A car is essential to enjoy the surrounding area. Would definitely recommend.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Weighbridge Cottage was well maintained and perfect for 2 adults. We like separate beds and the sofa bed was reasonably comfortable and the main bed was very comfortable. If we'd wanted a Christmas tree the resort would have provided one for £10. We took our own decorations. The on site restaurant, The Shower of Herring let everyone down in November and cancelled Christmas lunch (they aren't run by the resort) so we went to the Melfort Hotel, 5 miles down the road, and had a lovely meal in a restaurant with fabulous views of the loch. It's a really beauti...more
Been coming to Melfort for over 20 years Children are now older and the quiet of Melfort not so much their thing now. We enjoyed our four nights at the Walled Garden and my husband and I will continue to come back.
Having stayed at Melfort village on a number of occasions we were again extremely satisfied with our Spring break. The staff at the resort were extremely helpful and friendly, as they always have been. The new team in the restaurant provided a friendly pleasant atmosphere in which to have a meal and the food was enjoyable and well presented. We are looking forward to our next visit to Melfort.
Having stayed in Oban area before we thought we knew what we were coming to. We were wrong. Melfort Village is idyllic and very family friendly. Not only that but it is situated in a beautiful and relatively quiet part of Argyll which felt quite undiscovered. In fact, it would probably have remained undiscovered by us if it were not for Melfort's treasure, Olwen who works at the village. She welcomed us so warmly and gave us some great hints and tips about where to go for wildlife spotting even before we had our first night's sleep! I heartily recommend the morning welcome meeting - there was ...more
We enjoyed a lovely week . Melfort is a great location for country walks ,exploring the many islands and beautiful scenery. It is quite a remote setting so you need to be prepared with groceries for your stay, you can't just pop to the shops for a forgotten item. We enjoyed some of the many sports that are on offer, we played snooker, table tennis , pool & air hockey. The staff are very helpful and can tell you about the local area. Alwyn is very knowledgeable and gave us lots of ideas which we enjoyed seeking out. The Restaurant is very friendly and we enjoyed our meal on Monday night fol...more
Yet again relaxing stay at Melfort, staying in walled garden. I noticed that website has been upgraded and is not so informative as previous version. Overall availablity of each cottage is not easily visible and floor plans not displayed for every cottage. There is also a shortage of photos of the interior of each cottage.
Stayed in Pier House 2 overlooking the Loch. Cottage was well equipped and enjoyed good weather on the whole particularly for the time of year.Staff were very helpful and the welcome meeting very informative.
Excellent cottage, cosy, warm, well fitted. Good local walks and places to see. Very good surroundings and helpful staff.
As owners of two separate weeks we are never disappointed in our stay. We hope the Shower of Herring will prosper as it is very important to have a good restaurant on site. Kat was charming but some refinements are required in due course ie. no need for sauce bottles on every table!
Blacksmiths cottage 30 December 2016. This was our first visit to this site and all I can say was everything was excellent from the welcome we got on arrival from the reception staff, the Cottage its self was very clean and well kept probably the best Rci Exchange we have had, the evening entertainment was first class and well organised. I would recommend this venue to anyone.
Excellent setting beautiful views comfortable accommodation. Very friendly and efficient staff. Loved our stay.
Thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay at Melfort Village. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The restaurant was excellent both for food and service. Would highly recommend a visit here.
Our stay was made all the more enjoyable by friendly staff at reception and at the pool. The Monday night music was a bonus.
Meltfort Village is fairly remote and the only slight downside of our visit was that at this time the restaurant was not open due to a change in franchise at this time. There are some lovely hotels within a few miles, most are dog friendly so it was an opportunity to try out the delicious local seafood which was amazing. It was a beautiful drive up and back from Glasgow along the lochs, (Lomond and Fyne), we were blessed with some gorgeous days and a stay in this area is a great opportunity to visit and explore the many coastal ports and towns from Inverary right up to Fort William. At Melt...more
We enjoyed our recent stay at Melfort Village very much. The cottage was very spacious & clean. The kitchen was very well stocked with every utensil we needed. The shower in the shower room was poor, very little water pressure which should be resolved as we had to use the shower over the bath. We didn't use the on site amenities at Melfort so cannot rate them. We were very disappointed there was not a restaurant on site due to closure. You definitely need somewhere on site to eat as the resort is miles away from anything. We had been told prior to our arrival of the closure of the restauran...more
We were captivated by the location and the wall to wall sunshine, followed closely by the luxurious level of accommodation. Plenty of space, very good beds, good quality furnishings and equipment. We went for a relaxing break, which was exactly what we got.
We had another enjoyable week at Melfort and an excellent dinner at Melfort House. We also had dinner in the Shower of Herring Restaurant, which was very nice. The music evening on Monday is to be recommended.
