This is a comfortable house in a stunning location with a private sheltered garden. The living room faces the Loch, so has wonderful views. The owners were very helpful and responded quickly when we couldn’t get the coffee machine to work (our own fault). It would have benefited from a more modern and smart television, but otherwise we were very comfortable.

Our first time visiting Scotland and the house was first class. Wonderful location with the most amazing views from the living room window. Great garden for our dog fully enclosed and safe. Lovely decor and very comfortable beds, spotless clean, the conservatory overlooking the garden a great place to eat our meals and nice to sit in when it rained.
10 minute drive to Oban, 2 minute drive to Falls of Lora hotel, good lunches and dinner. 10 minute drive to Lochnell Arms hotel, good lunch and views. Oyster Inn next door, good dinner and views.
Communication with West Coast cottages was very good, overall we had an amazing time in this lovely house.

This is our second time staying at An Cala. We have Walter our 6 year old lab so having a dog friendly property is necessary. The location of this property is amazing from the comfy arm chair you can see countless otters and seals on each tide. Walk out the back of the property over the cattle grid and you’re in the middle of no where. Stags, owls you name its on your doorstep. We had great weather whilst there and ate outside at Locknell hotel looking back across the bridge to An Cala or a few hundred metres from the property is the Glue Pot and Oyster Inn, dog friendly in the pub. 21 seals were the most we had in one day. 5 miles into Oban if you want a port or large supermarket but from An Cala just walk in a different direction each time and just be amazed with stunning scenery.

An Cala gets a sunset right into the front window over the water and the layout is ideal for the perfect break. Everything in the property is high end even little things like the extractor in the bathroom, if you not seen it this wouldn’t mean anything. Good wifi, great garden, peaceful and stunning location.

This is the second year we have stayed at An Cala and this year was as exceptional as last. Beautiful house, stunning views, a real home from home with everything you need and more! Such a greag base for some great activities in the area - Inveraray Jail, horse riding at Achnalarig stables, Nevis Range cable cars, Glenfinnan viaduct, Beinn Lora (a challenging walk but worth it!) We look forward to returning again next year!

We all loved our stay here. My mum normally gets homesick and she did not here.
It was extremely well equipped. Providing dishwasher tablets and washing tablets. The garden was secure enough for our terrier, though I did stay out with her as she would find the smallest of holes.
The beds were comfy and the showers had enough pressure and were hot.
The sofas didn’t feel as comfy as we would have liked..but that is a totally minor issue.
I couldn’t stop staring at the view from the living room window and my camera roll may be full from all the stunning sunsets.

I would definitely come again and use west coast cottages again. Also highly recommend the stay

Superb location & lovely weather meant that we had a wonderful stay. Handrail banister bit sticky & double bed on small side. But the garden & wildlife made up for these minor issues. Thank you.

Location is good; on a busy road but not really a problem. Gateway can be a bit tight . Well thought out house with lots of things to make it very comfortable - underfloor heating, blackout blinds, automatic blind , good quality beds , good range of extras in kitchen etc. Fabulous views . Would definitely recommend

We had a wonderful stay at An Cala this Spring. The cottage was faultless - very clean, warm, spacious, views to die for, a safe enclosed rear garden and ample parking. The kitchen was really well equipped with everything you could think of, there were plenty of reading material on the local area with books of local walks and a selection of board games to keep everyone entertained in the evening. We loved watching the wildlife from the windows- saw otters and seals from the comfort of our armchairs. The area was a perfect base for exploring the beautiful countryside, our highlights from the week were climbing Beinn Lora, taking the ferry to Mull and pony trekking at Achnalarig near Oban. Also the children's play park at Atlantis Leisure in Oban, is a must for young kids. We would highly recommend a stay here.

The cottage is in a wonderful location, spacious, spotlessly clean, very comfortable, there was nothing lacking. A well provisioned kitchen, a warm and comfortable living area and a very well maintained garden. The beds were so comfortable, we all slept very well.
There was a welcome message from the owner and a good fire burning when we arrived. Two of our group had not visited Scotland before and it was a marvelous introduction for them to see real Scottish hospitality and generosity.
Waking up to the views across the road and coming home to An Cala each evening was a delight.
The locals were all very friendly, helpful and generous too.
We had a wonderful week at An Cala cottage and would recommend this cottage to others visiting the area.
If our schedule next year takes us to the area we will definitely look to booking An Cala.

This was a great property with a view across Loch Etive to die for. Easy access to Oban and also a stunning drive north to Fort William. The house itself was well equipped with modern appliances and accoutrements. Huge front drive and great back garden which was a bit of a sun trap.

When we arrived at An Cala we were surprised at how small it looked but when we went inside it was deceptively large. Great views, a good size garden and a lovely conservatory for us all to eat breakfast. The pub up the road was perfect for evening meals and the Lochnell Arms a bit further away but walkable was also very good. We managed to cram lots of things into our week and luckily we were blessed with great weather. Our dog, who came with us, really appreciated the long walks we did and although it’s a long way from home (9hours in the car) it was well worth it. The only slight downside is the house is on the main road leading to Oban. Whilst the traffic noise wasn’t an issue due to double glazing, if you have small children or a dog that’s not that well behaved it might be something to consider. Otherwise we all had a fantastic time and we have lots of photos and memories of our week.

Pleased with our choice of self catering property. The property was very well equipped, comfortable and warm. Easy to access and communication with the Agent was excellent. The situation of the house allows for numerous walks from the property as well as within a short drive. It is possible to walk to Oban avoiding the main road along tracks and minor roads and a few shorter walks locally on tracks. Unfortunately Covid restrictions impacted on local amenities available but did not detract too much from a very nice break.
The only comments I would make in relation to the house are:
the temperature in the downstairs shower was at times inconsistent;
the lack of outdoor seating which would be great for the summer but not an issue for a November stay.
Would not hesitate to re-book this property.

There is lots to commend this property. Nice, spacious, well equipped kitchen with a full size fridge/freezer and underfloor heating. It was great to have more than one each of all the crockery. The lounge and dining area is fairly small but perfectly adequate. The lounge area has a fantastic view of Loch Etive. Good area for coats and shoes. Upstairs bedrooms and bathroom are lovely. Downstairs bedroom and bathroom are good but tired looking. Really comfortable beds which is a huge positive. My criticism of many holiday accommodation is the lack of thought about socket positioning in relation to mirrors and it is the same for this property. Take an extension cable! The garden was great. Young children and dogs need to be supervised in the garden at all times as there is no gate preventing access to the busy road outside. I was really disappointed that the log burner was charged additionally on arrival - there was no prior notification of this before arrival. The property was warm just on the central heating though but being able use the log burner would have made some of evenings cosier. The property information on arrival was topnotch. So, on the whole good choice of accommodation.

Hi Ruth, We thank you for your review and taking the time to give us your feedback, we want all guests to have the best experience and holiday they can here. Regards the firewood, I am sorry you were disappointed about the charge in firewood, we do specify this on the website in FAQ, please see below; "All our prices are inclusive of the reasonable use of utilities. Where a bio-ethanol stove or log burner is a feature, we provide the initial supply of fuel/logs to welcome you on your first evening. For subsequent evening supplies are readily available locally. The fire in Tigh Beg Croft & An Cala will be laid ready to use on arrival- this is included in the price, additional supplies of coal, logs and firelighters are charged as used, recorded on payment sheet and monies left at the end of the stay" We only charge a small standard fee for extra wood/firelighters and coal being used as there is a full sheds worth left for use and we have had guests in the past use a large amount of this that would usually do for a full season, so unfortunately we had to start a small fee of excess use, sorry hope you can understand. We have taken note of your points and will definitely be looking into getting these addressed asap. Thanks again for choosing West Coast Cottages for your holiday and happy you had a good overall stay :-) All the best, Gemma

We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage. It is very comfortable, spacious and well thought out. Great view over Connel bay from the lounge window. The kitchen is very well equipped for self catering. This is a good place to stay as it is near Oban and ferries to the islands. There are many walks with great views from Connel itself or a short car drive away.

This house is extremely clean and comfortable with an incredible view should the sun shine. The house is extremely well equipped . On arrival it felt a little out of date but it soon became home in, what turned out to be, really bad weather. We enjoyed the log fire in very bad weather but were surprised that it carried extra cost although understandable. If unfamiliar with the area, the busy road and junction beside the house is off putting and traffic can be disturbing in the early hours, but the view from this property in the early hours of the morning is hard to beat. West Coast cottages were attentive and we felt confident that they had really attended to our safety at this frightening time

Really enjoyed our stay in An Cala. Lovely house in a great location right on the edge of the sea leading into loch etive. Only short distance from Oban and with good access up to Glencoe and fort William. The house had all the facilities we needed although could have done with an outdoor table to eat outside with the exceptional weather we were fortunate to have. What a beautiful and comfortable house, we felt right at home!

The 6 of us walked up Ben Lora which was a easy 5 minute drive from the house. After our walk we went for a well deserved meal at the restaurant & pub along from the house. We were delighted with eveything we ordered!

We would definitely love to come back, hopefully for longer next time!

Myself and my husband just had the most amazing stay at An Cala. We both needed a break from the city and this was just perfect! The views from the lounge were incredible, overlooking Connel bridge and bay. The accommodation was clean, spacious and had everything we needed - the log stove was a huge plus, especially in January!

The booking process was also very easy and we received great customer service throughout. We are already planning our next visit back to An Cala and will most likely mix it up with the other properties listed with West Coast Cottages!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in An Cala; it was our perfect holiday home from home.

The house was spotless, warm, comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. The ever-changing views of Loch Etive out of the large front window were mesmerising. By the warmth of the log burner we watched kayakers, boats, sea life and sunsets. The kitchen was perfect for self-catering but would equally recommend a meal in the nearby pub.

There is do much to do locally. An Cala was ideally situated to give us easy access to Oban and it’s amenities, beaches, ferries to the Isles, hikes up Beinn Lora and a Trip to the Cruachan visitor centre on a wet afternoon. We loved our stay and hope to return before too long!
