Stylishly well-appointed, characterful and intimate; three newly-converted holiday cottages on a friendly, family-run private farming estate in the heart of the Shropshire countryside, just 20-minutes from the beautiful medieval county town of Shrewsbury.
From the moment your first welcomed with complimentary home-made cake or biscuits by Rachel and Gerry, the on-site owners, Burlton Cottages offer idyllic, unspoilt escapism - a perfect rural retreat. Open all year (arrive and leave on dates of your choice), bring the kids (cots, high chair and games available) and bring the dog (enjoy stunning country walks right from your door, with abundant wildlife every step of the way). There is ample safe car parking too.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the cottages are just beautiful, very contemporary and immaculate. The owners are wonderful people, Rachel could not have been more helpful and even went to the trouble of baking a vegan welcome cake for us - which was delicious. I have already recommended the cottages to friends/colleagues, you won't go wrong with this property. There is a lovely pub within a 5 min walking distance too, who also were happy to provide a vegan meal for us. We would definitely stay here again, if we are in the area.
The Granary at Burlton Cottages is a very well-appointed cottage with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The bed is comfortable and the shower very efficient. The cottage is warm and the water is very hot.
The owners are friendly and provided a warm welcome and a Victoria Sponge.
Burlton is a quiet village, handy for Shrewsbury and for the Shropshire countryside. The pub in the village has been recently refurbished and serves very good food.
Rachel was very welcoming even giving us a home made cake on arrival. Very dog friendly and the property is of a high standard of equipment actually matching the description for once. Slight blip when the hot water went off due to an electrician turning the power off to the boiler but apologies given and soon rectified. I think Rachel was more bothered than us about it which is good.
Lovely local pub dog friendly within walking distance as described. Lovely area of the country. One of the very few places we would consider a return trip.
