The Old Post Office is a sustainably renovated former post office in Leverburgh, Isle of Harris, transformed into a contemporary one-bedroom holiday cottage. The original 1970s structure has been preserved and reinforced, with the addition of a super-insulated timber-framed upper storey and distinctive rust-red cladding.
The accommodation centres on a bright, open-plan living space with expansive glazing overlooking the village mill pond and the Sound of Harris beyond. A private deck and garden offer mountain views and direct access to local walking routes and the lochs of the Obbe system.
Inside, guests enjoy a king-size bedroom with en-suite rain shower, a Japanese-style soaking tub and handcrafted plywood kitchen with quality appliances. Solar thermal hot water and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery enhance sustainability. There is a 7 kW EV charger for guests’ exclusive use.
Interiors feature bespoke HARRIS TWEED® fabrics, woven by the owners, and carefully selected mid-century furniture. Open year-round with flexible check-in, it provides an ideal base for exploring Harris, nearby beaches, hills, and island connections.
