An isolated house with a glorious view. Very well maintained and comfortable inside. The access track is rough.
Lovely appartment in good location. Clean, well equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge and lovely big bedrooms. Loved walking around the gardens and very close to beautiful beaches. Definitely want to return!
The best week of weather we have ever enjoyed in Baleromindubh House. Our 7th(?) year and we will be back. Full marks to Will for helping us through the water situation. Nothing could have spoilt this week. Even Calmac delivered us safely with their legendary good humour.... and this despite the Tiree Music Festival
We have known Colonsay for years and Garvard is our favourite house. We enjoyed the upgrades in the house…it’s a bit smarter than before. It’s a beautiful island with lots to explore and enjoy. The islanders are all relaxed and friendly…recommend it to families. We took our grandchildren 20 yrs ago and it was them who initiated our return this time. They enjoyed it just as much!
We really enjoyed staying in the apartment. It had everything we needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful both before and during our stay.
If you like solitude, surrounded by nature, in a stunning location, in a older property that could do with some updating and a few tweaks here and then but is comfortable and well equipped and have a car suitable for the half mile of rough track to reach it then Baliromindubh Cottage is a great choice. Scalisaig is a quaint harbour town with the ferry terminal, The Colonsay Pantry for good coffee, delicious cakes and dinner and the Colonsay Shop is well stocked for everyday essentials. All a 15 minute drive or about a 30/40 minute walk away. We will be back!
We really enjoyed our stay at Nursery Apartment; in fact it was real highlight of the holiday, rather then just somewhere to sleep. Although we thought it looked nice in the photographs, we were still wowed when we arrived. Delightfully comfortable (shower, bed, and blackout curtains all get top marks), well-equipped, and with beautiful views over the gardens, a rainy morning felt like a lovely chance to relax, rather than wasted time (although we were lucky with the weather overall). It was a real treat to stay in this historic property.
We loved the apartment set in beautiful grounds on a beautiful island. The apartment had everything we needed. Beds were comfy, kitchen well equipped. Only minor suggestion would be another chopping board (to share preparation!). We loved Colonsay and will be back one day.
Returned to Drumclach yet another year. Love the flat with the view of the beautiful garden. Excellently equipped, cosy and very comfortable. Thank you again.
Wonderful location good solid house all rather old-fashioned. Equipment limited but this really doesn’t matter when viewed against the backdrop of Colonsay. Paying £60 for two bags of coal when they can be bought atthe service point for £13 each hurt rather.
Machrins Farmhouse is a generous, spacious and comfortable house, right in the heart of the island. It has masses of space for friends and cousins to pile in, and to spend a rainy day together. All the doubles are really comfortable and generous in size with great views. The house is in the centre of the isalnd so really quick to get to any beach and to Scalasaig 'city'.
The cottage is very sweet and in the most perfect situation on the island – close to the shop, bookshop, pier. There is a lot of activity when the ferry arrives, so it is a fun place to be! The cottage itself could do with a bit more thought in terms of the layout. The tiny kitchen doesn't have a single cupboard for food, yet there is a wine rack! I would suggest an under-counter fridge/freezer so that there is more work surface, and a half-dishwasher so that there was a cupboard for cereal, rice etc. We had to move all the items we weren't going to use during our stay (weighing scales, gravy ...more
Excellent location. Clean cottage with everything we needed. It is a good size for four people. The kitchen and dining table are large. It was nice to have two bathrooms. There is plenty of storage space inside and out. The Avenue has a damp smell and would benefit from more ventilation. Windows can be opened depending on the weather and midges. This would not however put us off stopping here again.
We really enjoyed our stay at Pondside. The cottage was clean and pleasant and the kitchen was well stocked with everything that we needed. The beds and bedding were very comfortable and the garden lovely and enjoyable. We would definitely stay there again on another visit.
The Kennels is pretty and well placed, the kitchen well equipped and the beds confortable. A couple of things disappointed, considering the rental cost there eere only two loo rolls for two for a week...nothing in the kitchen such as salt, pepper etc. There was a surcharge of about 8p per unit on the electricity and oil, which is already not included in the rental cost... Otherwise, the instructions to find the cottage are very clear exceot for the last turn...there is a large sign saying 'no cars beyond this point', which must confuse many holidaymakers, as it does not mention ,except for ...more
The house is in an excellent position for Kiloran Bay which is a 5 minute walk away however there are no views of the beach from the house or the garden. The house is small for 6 people and the stairs are essentially a ladder so if 4 people were to sleep upstairs they would have to be very agile and not be young kids. The is no TV (which was great) but there is excellent wifi. When we visited we were blessed with the heatwave so didn't spend much time in the living room, but again its small with possibly too much furniture squashed in there. Cosy house in a fantastic location just up hill from beach. A mile to Colonsay House. Steep ladder staircase unsuitable for those with mobility issues.
