We found the Retreat at Gitcombe as described online and first found on Instagram .Beautifully appointed & very spacious . Set amongst well maintained peaceful gardens. Everything was well thought out from the beautiful large sofas, to a cupboard full of all you needs for a baby or toddler. The views from the wrap around balcony across the estate were stunning and far reaching across the surrounding countryside . During our stay all of us including the baby made use of the two pools. This was a return visit for us, a three generation family staying at wonderful Gitcombe House. All the family were excited to return and had the most amazing time. The house is perfect in every way with luxurious beds, beautiful bathrooms and top quality furnishings and appliances. The Estate facilities are brilliant, we all enjoyed the tennis court, pools and hot tub, which are very well maintained, and also the immaculate gardens and amazing views; perfect for relaxation! We had a brilliant stay in Garden House, Gitcombe. The facilities are really excellent, both pools were exactly the right temperature and the views from the hot tub were just beautiful. The local countryside is lovely, so much birdlife (I heard bunting, skylarks, buzzards, ravens and linnet for example). We even saw some glow worms which was very exciting! The owners were so friendly and helpful with suggestions for the local area. Our stay at Gitcombe was practically perfect in every way. Lovely facilities (tennis, swimming, walks etc), a well thought-out activity shed (crabbing kits, beach bits, balls and raquets), responsive hosts, convenient location (Dartmouth and Totnes 15mins away), a well stocked kitchen in terms of utensils and equipment (a bugbear of mine in rental properties), and best of all.....Peace and quiet. Superb family holiday - beautiful setting, high quality accommodation and so many resources on site for all ages to enjoy. Not cheap but well worth it.
An idyllic location with immaculately cared for properties. Swimming pools playground and lots of safe open space makes it perfect for a relaxing family holiday. Lovely hosts.
We had such an enjoyable stay at The Coach House on the Gitcombe Estate! The accommodation was exceptionally well equipped, with everything we needed from appliances and kitchen utensils to all the little extras in between. A special mention goes to the fantastic provisions for toddlers, which were incredibly helpful and saved us from having to bring so much with us. The facilities were excellent and never felt overcrowded, making it easy to relax and enjoy our stay. Lovely place to stay with the family. Houses are properly equipped with anything you need, even for toddlers.
We had a fabulous family holiday here in Gitcombe staying in the Haytor cottage. We were extremely lucky with the weather and so were able to make use of all the exceptional facilities including the outdoor pool, tennis courts, jacuzzi and children's play park. The indoor pool was also excellent especially when the sun was too hot at midday. Peter and his team keep the grounds impeccably. The facilities are very good.
