We had a delightful 4-night stay at Daisy Byre. Very comfortable cottage, clean and modern, with everything you need for an enjoyable, relaxing break. We received a very warm welcome from the owners and were made to feel at home right from the start. Lovely hospitality by all, including the staff working on the adjacent farm. The complimentary passes to the farm were a bonus (as was a delightful evening in the theatre located on the farm watching a production of 'The Wind in the Willows'). A thoroughly enjoyable stay. The village of Wisborough Green and the surrounding West Sussex area has ...more
A clean and comfortable apartment in an excellent location in the town centre and near historic attractions.
Our four week stay over Christmas 2020 and New Year 2021 at Harding's Barn was much better than it had any right to be in the midst of a pandemic and national lockdown! Amberley House Cottage Holidays staff were very helpful when making our booking. The owners at Harding's Barn were fabulous when our flights were delayed and even provided some essential supplies for us (along with a Christmas hamper!). When considering the crisis gripping the UK it turned out to be a delightful stay, picturesque place with plenty of walking areas in close driving distance. Harding's Barn itself was very co...more
We cannot recommend this place enough. Brilliant accomodation, thoughtful touches & friendly owner .
Warm welcome on arrival with fresh homemade cakes on the table in the kitchen. The owners and staff were very kind and helpful throughout my stay. Plenty to do and see and well located for visits out. I definitely want to go back it’s such a good place to be. Many thanks to Mandy persuading me to see the animals even though I had my dog with me, just loved it. Thank you everyone.
The House is very clean and great equipped, except for a stove there is everything you need to feel comfortable. The Landlords are very nice. I highly recommend this property.
It is a beautiful and well equipped cottage in a great location - an easy walk to the lovely shops, restaurants and, of course, the castle. The cottage is clean, comfortable and elegantly styled - combining the best of traditional and modern decor. We appreciated the sociable layout with the lounge, dining area and kitchen on the one floor, The bedrooms are bright and comfortable with modern en-suite facilities. In the good weather it was great to be able to eat outdoors and enjoy the garden. A great location for exploring Arundel by foot - with the surrounding countryside and coast only a s...more
We arrived the day before the 2nd lockdown, from overseas to spend our 14 day quarantine. The house was perfect for us, our 2 children who had to continue their online Distance Learning were able to do so easily, with plenty of room to stay away from each other! Beautiful view from the kitchen window, I loved sitting there in the morning with my espresso watching the horses in the field. The children thoroughly enjoyed the trampoline and we loved walking in the woods behind the house and spotting deer. We all enjoyed the Wii. In fact we loved out stay so much that we extended our stay several ...more
Beautiful straw house in a beautiful surrounding. Our dog loved it walks are amazing. Spent Christmas week here would highly recommended it. The owners are lovely very helpfully. It is a working farm and if you ask the owners you can look around the farm. Would love to visit. Again.
Our stay at Jubilee House was perfect and there was nothing to find fault with. The house was beautifully presented, clean, homely and welcoming. The garden was lovely and was a lovely place to sit and for the children to play in. This was the best holiday let we've ever stayed in!
An extremely comfortable property equipped with high quality furnishings, appliances and bathroom fittings in a quiet location. Very clean, warm and well maintained. Excellently situated for walking some of the South Downs Way.
We loved our stay in Rye, and Cinque Port View was perfect in every way. Beautifully decorated, very clean and comfortable and every detail had been thought about, especially for those staying with a baby as we were. Thank you!
A peaceful setting and equipped to a very high standard whilst conveniently located for many local destinations. The owners were welcoming and helpful but not obtrusive.
This cottage exceeded our expectations in every way. Clean , bright, warm and luxurious. The owner left a Welcome basket which was very much appreciated. Highly recommend a stay at Mill Barn , the surrounding area is beautiful with superb scenery - perfect for long walks. Not too far to the coast. Ideal setting for the perfect R&R.
Oak Cottage was the perfect base to explore the coastline from Brighton to Hastings. Spotlessly clean, warm (it was winter) and comfortable in an ideal quiet location away from the usual tourist haunts. Excellent service from the agents and the owners. Would have no hesitation in booking the cottage again when in the area..
We thought that the layout of the property was good with bedrooms and bathrooms at either end and living space in the middle. The kitchen was well equiped but we didn't like the vegetable peeler. The property was comfortable and the heating was excellent-very toasty, even without the log burner. As an asthma sufferer, I am not a fan of polluting log burners. The joining instructions and directions to get there were very good. The location is excellent for those in search of peace and quiet. There is a path a few metres from the gate which goes up onto the South Downs and joins many other pat...more
We consider this “our” house. Having stayed there before and planning on coming back. The best contact with the owner. He provided very useful information on the surroundings. What to write about a perfect stay? If you like staying in a beautiful little city, being quite close to a pub this is the place for you.
This is a lovely cottage. Much thought has gone into making a newish build look 300years old. Clever quirky bits inside and out, even in the brickwork. It showed the thoughtfulness of the owners even as they were renovating. There are mod cons where you want them in the kitchen and bathroom, but they were tastefully done to fit the building. Beds were very comfortable. Heather was very friendly and attentive to our needs even though Roger was very ill. The courtyard planting encouraged butterflies. There were wrens just outside the window, and a cleverly placed mirror meant I coul...more
The reading rooms combined history with comfort & modern facilities. The rooms are an excellent size. Wisborough Green is a lovely village with all you need on your doorstop (church, pub, shop, tea rooms). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay again.
The stay at Oakwood was outstanding. The owners had thought of absolutely everything to make our stay perfect. There were 10 of us as a family ranging from 29 years old to 71 and it met everything’s holiday needs. The location was perfect, only a 20 minute stroll into the village where all the local shops, cafes and pubs were including a supermarket. The house itself gave us all enough room to not feel on top of each other. The outside space was fantastic including the several outdoor eating areas which made the most of the amazing sunrise and sunset and views over the South Downs. The poo...more
Beautiful location and property. 20 minute walk through peaceful countryside to reach the Griffin pub..really good pint of Sussex ale. The owners were very welcoming and helpful and gave us some good pointers. We went to Burling Gap on their recommendation and as a family who aren’t keen on crowds, really enjoyed this part of the coast. My family and i found this property very relaxing to stay in and would definitely stay again.
Had a lovely break during this extremely difficult time of COVID. Property was excellent and hosts were very helpful. Ideal base and would defo recommend!
We had a lovely stay at Owl Cottage. The cottage was very well equipped. Very clean and comfortable. There was a very generous welcome pack provided. The village had a shop and two pubs. We would certainly recommend Owl cottage as a place to stay.
Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Our first stay away from home since March. Loads of interesting gardens close by. A great weekend.
A lovely house in a beautiful location. The house was warm and comfortable. It was well equipped. The owners are delightful hosts, helpful and friendly but not at all intrusive.
It was lovely discovering this part of the world, so pretty and so much to do. We so enjoyed coming back to the warm comfortable barn after our adventures. It was immaculate and had everything we needed. The welcome gifts were so enjoyed especially the homemade cheese biscuits!!
Lovely accommodation and welcoming hosts. Large bedroom and bed! Comfortable sitting room. A pity that we missed the deer and peacock in the garden! Hiding, obviously...
Down Under provided the perfect holiday cottage ,it was bright ,spotlessly clean ,well equipped and wonderfully situated for walks and bike rides on the South Downs , We will definitely book again .
We loved the house and thought it worked perfectly for small children. We were all very happy with our stay and would definitely book again. Many thanks
Great place to stay right in the centre of Rye with everything in walking distance. So comfortable too!
We had a great stay in this dog-friendly house which is conveniently close to shops, the park and 15 minutes from the seafront. The accommodation was warm and comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped.
Great little property that was not very little. Whilst only set up for two, with just the one bedroom, there was plenty of room for us and it felt almost spacious. Very tastefully fitted out with decent quality furniture and an excellent bed. Pippa was a delightful host and made us very welcome. Location good in a lovely part of the country. We had a great week.
Spacious lodge set in the grounds of the owners property. Privacy is guaranteed as there is a large allotment and hedge seperating the buildings. The lodge is very clean and all the necessities are included, as well as a welcome tray and a tasty jar of homemade preserve. A large balcony which is great when evening draws in, bats fly around the garden and owls hoot in the distance. Very tranquil surroundings. Lymington is only a short distance away for all basic needs, and the ferry to the Isle of Wight is even closer to pop over for lunch.
We arrived at Lavender Cottage to be greeted by the owners Sandra and Glen, who made us feel immediately welcome, showing us our accommodation and then inviting us to share home made cream scones and tea. The accommodation is like a high quality hotel suite, but more homely with a kitchen equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The village location is beautiful, remote but within easy reach of Arundel. The Gastro Pub is nearby and serves great food, with friendly and efficient staff. The shared garden is beautiful, although the weather prevented us from enjoying the views, however we ...more
A delightful, quiet, and spacious cottage. Great location within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the South Downs Way. Beautiful countryside all around. Shona was very helpful and welcoming. We hope to return.
Welcoming hosts, modern style of appartment with everything you need. Great location for accessing the south downs, ashdown forest and the coast. Was a lovely surprise to receive some food supplies which were very much appreciated. Thank you!
Amberley is a beautiful village to stay in the South Downs and we’ve found Little Barn to be perfect for what we look for in a holiday home. It is a spacious barn conversion for two people with lovely views over the surrounding countryside at the rear. Enclosed within the walls of the main house it also provides privacy and quiet whilst allowing access to walks over the Downs from the front door. Our first visit was pre Covid but we didn’t have any qualms about staying for the second time. Suffice it to say we have booked again for next May.
The Woodland Cottage is beautiful. The accommodation is extremely comfortable and well presented. It lacks nothing that you might need, having a very well equipped kitchen and large, spotlessly clean rooms throughout, with great views over the garden. The garden has a large pond and we saw from our window deer, rabbits, a heron, sparrow hawks and squirrels. It is a delightful property that I would not hesitate to recommend. There is an excellent pub at the end of the lane (a 5 minute walk - take a good torch) and the owners of the cottage are warm and friendly characters for whom nothing is to...more
Lovely neat comfortable cottage. Adjacent owners helpful but not obtrusive. A quiet hideaway location with great walks from the door. No local facilities, but walk to pub across fields possible.
The ultimate place for your stay in Arundel. Great riverside location and only two minutes walk to town centre and all local amenities and attractions. The house is spacious, extremely well equipped and feels like a “beloved home” rather than just a “holiday let”. Highly recommended.
Really good. We will return - in better weather! The immediate locality had footpaths and lanes, which got us closer to an area that we already knew well.
Very lovely location and very welcoming and helpful hosts. Arrangements under the current situation very comprehensive and re-assuring.
The cottage is in an amazing location with such a spectacular view from the living room couch! The property had everything we needed for a short stay and was very clean and well laid-out. The owner was super friendly and helpful and made sure we felt at home in the cottage. Even though the cottage is in the middle of beautiful countryside with incredible views, it is still easy to access with it only being a couple of miles up wide country lanes from the A27. Arundel is a short drive away and has plenty to see and do, including Arundel cathedral and castle which I would highly recommend visiti...more
I can't rate this place highly enough and have sent the property link to many of our friends since our return. It is a stunning property with 5* facilities and grounds. The owners were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely return.
Property has be completed to a very high standard with good facilities. Plenty of space and is kept very clean and tidy. Perfect for country get away but is also only 15-20min car journey away from Brighton / Hove. Would highly recommend.
We loved almost everything about our Christmas stay at this beautiful lodge. It was the cleanest we think we have ever stayed in, there are some beautiful touches that make you feel very comfortable and we would highly recommend. (These two very small things should be known to future bookers - consider carefully if you need reliable WiFi (we had to reboot the router regularly and couldn’t get WiFi downstairs in the bedrooms) and be aware that the owner is overlooking you (mainly in the main bedroom and the lounge) as the property is attached to the main house through quite a thin connecting do...more
We really enjoyed our stay in 76 The Mint. The location was perfect - in the historic town centre in easy walking distance of all the sights, shops, pubs, transport. The house fronts directly onto the street and is across the road from The Old Bell pub. The rear of the house is very quiet and has lovely views of higgledy piggledy rooftops. The house itself is beautifully arranged with a comfy living room fronting onto the street and at the back very light, elegant and practical kitchen/dining area with attached small conservatory. There is also a small courtyard which we didn't use (it was...more
We have enjoyed a very relaxing stay in this cottage which is only a few minutes drive from Crawley, thus easily accessible. The cottage is warm and fully equipped (with baby/children equipment such as one high chair, a stair gate, play equipment in the garden), and surrounded by a lovely garden and birds. The hosts Ricky and Marilyn, as well as their son Stephen, were incredibly nice and helpful throughout our stay.
This was the perfect break for our annual family trip away. A beautiful house with everything you could possibly need.
Honeysuckle is a lovely cottage in an interesting village with Petworth House and Deer Park a few metres away. The Owner was very helpful in ensuring that we had a good holiday despite the 'lockdown' conditions.
The Poolhouse is a lovely cottage: self contained, spacious, well-equipped and immaculately clean. We really liked its situation in the heart of Petworth, with lots of interesting shops and just over the road from the grounds of NT Petworth House. We hope to return in the summer months to take advantage of the pool.
I had a lovely restful week, Library Cottage is a very beautiful and peaceful place. Liz and Chris Williams, the owners, were very welcoming, friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed staying in the Nest, it was warm and cosy for evenings in. The Owner checked that we were ok with everything and the Nest was made very Covid safe. There are many good walks easily accessible from The Nest. The storm waves along the cliffs at Pett Level made one of our walks very memorable and invigorating.
The owner, Paul, took care to make contact in advance, providing extra information and offered to provide further help plus advice on the locality should we need it. The house was in perfect order and the garden was attractive and tidy. A plus for our teenage sons was the table tennis table in the log cabin and for all of us, availability of broadband, Netflix and a DVD player. Thoroughly recommended.
This converted garage has everything two people may ask for: it is quiet, spacious and sparkling clean. The owners are delightfully friendly and helpful. It has a kitchenette with two bar stools - while we did not use it, it is equipped for i.e. breakfast or simple cooking. Good bed, though not too large. The bathroom is somewhat on the small side and there is not much space for your cosmetics, no shelves apart from the mirror's. Decent towels. However, the shower is large. No bathtub. WIFI is stable and fast enough. There is a sofa and a large enough TV, but we did not use these.
It was a real pleasure coming back to the cottage each day while exploring Sussex. Our 16-month daughter loved the walled garden and was fascinated by all the art. It was great being able to borrow a high chair as well. We hope to come back again next year.
Excellent property run by very helpful and thoughtful family - thanks for the Lemon cake! Great location to explore West Sussex, with an abundance of nearby vineyards, quality pubs and historic towns all on walking routes.
We stayed at Longwall House over October half term, based on a recommendation from friends (who had stayed over the summer). We were not disappointed. The house and garden are just as lovely as the photos show, and it is probably the best equipped holiday rental that we have stayed in. From the fluffy towels to the fantastic internet and TV options, from the kitchen equipment to the spacious bedrooms and funky bathroom. I could go on! We also fell in love with Chichester. Despite it being a wet and windy week, we explored the city, made it into the beautiful Cathedral, stomped around the...more
My wife and I had the pleasure of staying in this very appealing holiday accommodation at the end of September. Our dual purpose was to visit an elderly parent and to explore the surrounding countryside on foot. We found the property to be ideal for our needs. It was immaculately clean and very tastefully furnished. Everything worked perfectly and we had the pleasure in chatting to the kind and considerate owner who lives in the main house. We enjoyed exploring the acre or so which comprised the back garden with its large pond. There is fantastic walking to be had both from the propert...more
Loved the accommodation and location. Would recommend and definitely come back again and visit. Thank you
We had a lovely week, the cottage was lovely, the kitchen well fitted and the welcome pack very well received. Hilary was very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday
On arriving I was shocked, I knew the house would be beautiful but it was far beyond my expectations! We had fabulous weather so spent alot of time in the charming pool. The gardens are gorgeous with speaking hills for miles and the house interia is full of amazing art. The perfect house for a large group with lovely kitchen and lots of compfy nooks to relax in. Could not have enjoyed our stay more, would love to come back! X
We were a party of 8 - 4 adults and 4 children so had plenty of room. The house has real character with the themed rooms and furniture and has amazing views. Close proximity to a small town, as well as being within half an hour drive of bognor, littlehampton and worthing. Michelle was great in helping and answering all our queries. We had an absolutely wonderful stay here and would return in a heartbeat.
So good to be back again- thanks for all the help and advice Paul & Leslie. everything we needed- and more. Thanks also for all your efforts to keep people safe with the Pandemic- we felt very safe. Thank you!
I’ve had the delight of staying at Candle Cottage for a good 4 weeks, and I have loved it. It has everything I need, it’s very very clean and very spacious The position is fabulous right amongst the hills of the beautiful South Downs, with a walk right outside the front door, leading within minutes to stunning views Within walking distance of The George Pub which serves great food, I really couldn’t ask for more .
Everything about the cottage was excellent. However the fact that the private parking opposite the cottage could be used to unload luggage was not advised in the instructions. It was noted in the information papers in the cottage -too late to be used on arrival.
Our stay at the Pig Barn in October was a delightful and tranquil break. Comfortable, very clean and warm, the cottage is tastefully decorated with a comfy, king-size bed, a bathroom with plenty of hot water and a cosy kitchen living room for two. The idyllic setting of West Dean means that it is very quiet, with excellent walks straight from the cottage and a welcoming host who led us on an informed historical tour of the old manor grounds. If you are seeking silence, rural seclusion and comfort you will love the Pig Barn. It is perfectly situated for walks on the stunning Sussex coast, in Fr...more
We loved staying at this cottage. A lovely welcoming cottage with owner to match. Dogs were welcomed not just tolerated. Thank you. We will definitely visit again. A great location for walking the South Downs.
We had a weeks stay at the end of July (2 adults, 2 children 8 & 13 the apartment had all that we needed. A comfortable bed, fully equipped self catering facilities and good wifi connection to keep the kids happy. The location is 5 minutes from town, beach, shops and opposite a great park for kicking a football around on a sunny evening. Overall a really lovely stay.
We stayed 7 nights and absolutely loved this cottage! It's well-sized, well-equipped and the hosts who live next door are very friendly and helpful. There are several excellent walks from this cottage, going on public pathways which are well signposted. The location is peaceful, the fields surrounding the area are full of grazing sheep and horses, you can reach the Arlington Reservoir by foot, as well as the Long Man of Wilmington. For the trips to the beach there's a range of options - Seven Sisters Cliffs, Seaford beach, Birling Gap are all within a short drive. We loved our stay and would h...more
Rose Cottage is an absolute delight. It retains many original features, enhanced by antique and vintage accessories, but it has been enlarged and modernised in a sympathetic way, to a very high standard of finish. The Cottage is located in a very pretty hamlet, with a beautiful village green, surrounded by traditional English countryside, with the South Downs National Park and the south coast within easy reach. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Rose Cottage, and although the cottage is always warm and cosy, we couldn't resist getting a lovely fire going in the wood-burner as well, making the ...more
An enjoyable stay in an attractive, comfortable, well-equipped cottage. We liked the outside equipment which meant we could sit outside with a drink. The Bull's Box was well-placed for visiting Arundel and Lewes and walking on the beautiful South Downs.
I had a lovely stay in Little Lock Cottage. The cottage is comfortable, cosy and well equipped. A real home from home when exploring the Sussex countryside, which is right on your doorstep. The patio garden and the wildlife were a real bonus even on a rainy November day. In these Covid times the cottage was also very clean and came provided with all the products (mostly as natural as possible) that you could need to ensure it stayed that way during your stay.
A very peaceful location with wonderful views of the lake and surrounding countryside. The property was well equipped and really comfortable and cosy. It would be a wonderful summer property and we are hoping to return then. It is ideally situated for exploring many of the National Trust properties in the area. Although it sleeps 2 people there was ample room for us to have our daughter, son in law and 4 year old grandson for dinner. He loved the animals in the surrounding fields. My only comment would be that food was left in the cupboard presumably from the previous occupant. The brea...more
We had a lovely few days in this pretty cottage for my dad's 60th. The instructions beforehand were clear and helpful and arriving was easy. We found the house exceptionally clean and welcoming and well located, a 2 minute walk from the centre of Arundel. The kitchen was well equipped, the living room comfy and warm, especially with the fire going. The bedrooms were a good size and the beds comfortable and clean. The ceilings are quite low but those parts most likely to be whacked by an unsuspecting head are protected which is a nice touch. A lovely place to escape during these difficult ti...more
We had 10 days here and it’s a real gem. The cottage is picturesque and cosy. It has a comfortable bed, a large sofa and a well equipped kitchen - the three most important things for us. A real highlight was that we were able to see the Kingfisher from our window - very special indeed. Just watch out for that flash of blue! Tony, the host, was fantastic too. He was really helpful and responsive when we needed anything. A very nice guy. I would happily recommend this cottage.
We really enjoyed our stay at Vane Cottage. Our hosts have obviously doing this a while and understand what makes a relaxing place to stay (both inside and out). Our children really enjoyed the playroom and the huge garden as well as the surrounding countryside. We really appreciated the peace and quiet as well as the proximity to a lovely country pub (just a short walk across the field) and lots of delightful Sussex things a short car journey away.
Both my partner and I thought that the apartment was wonderful. We both enjoyed staying there. It is very well laid out.
The house was very clean and fresh on arrival. There was also a tea, coffee etc. It is in an ideal location to visit the South Coast.
An excellent week at this lovely cottage. We used it as a base whilst walking the South Downs Way.Very peaceful and quiet and the owners were extremely helpful.
The cottage is perfect for a short break or longer stay. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. The cottage was supplied with essential foods and drinks plus some delicious extra snacks. The cottage is fully fitted out like a home would be. Cooker, microwave, washing machine,tv and if remember right, sky, etc. There are plenty of walks in the area which only 5 miles away (approx) is Devils Dyke. So an adventurous walk or a short drive. Highly recommended and would definitely stay there again.
We stayed at Tail End cottage for three night. The location of the cottage is excellent being right in the centre of Rye where one can just step out the door for everything. The cottage itself is very nice and cosy. The enclosed garden was safe for our dog and so nice for an afternoon cup of tea or evening drink. The fireplace really added to a cosy evening in front of the fire. Already planning of when we can return.
We had a very nice stay at Harold Rise, the location next to the Old Town was great and the apartment was definitely kitted out with everything we needed. The communication was great with the owner and any small issues resolved. The only feedback I would give would be to suggest a new mattress and sofa as we found these a bit uncomfortable.
Very pleasant stay in a lovely location. Property was very clean and well equipped. The rooms are large and spacious so plenty of space. There is only one bathroom although there is a downstairs toilet with a sink. This could be an issue for larger groups. House itself is rather tired and in need of some loving care. However nothing spoilt our stay.
We enjoyed a lovely week at Paines Oast. The cottage was extremely clean, comfortable and very well heated with plenty of hot water. A lot of detail has gone into servicing the cottage and even a mending kit.notepaper and pens etc. Were provided. The cottage is near an excellent village shop and pub with very good food and is also on a bus route providing an hourly bus service to Uckfield and Eastbourne. As we were without a car these facilities were very useful. We did feel though that the cottage is better suited to two persons rather than four. A toaster would be a help as it would avoid ...more
We were made to feel really welcome, as we found wine chocolates, and apple juice waiting for us! Brian, and I had a lovely few days, that has stayed in my memory during these days of isolation! We hope that, one day, we may all three of us spend some time in that lovely bungalow!
My husband and I were very happy with our stay at Calceto. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and recommended some good local restaurants and pubs. The apartment was very comfortable, clean, quiet and well-equipped. It is also conveniently located, a short walk from Arundel station and just a 5 minute walk from the centre of Arundel, which made it easy for us to explore the town. There are also some nice walks close by along the River Arun.
Wonderful cottage that sleeps 10 comfortably with lots of space inside and out for a family occasion.
Lovely cottage in a quiet, rural location. Everything was pristine and we were extremely comfortable to the extent we have already booked again! Warm and attentive welcome from the host but not at all intrusive during our stay: a perfect balance. A pleasure to watch the animals on the estate. An excellent property: highly recommended. Also beautiful hamper, a lovely Christmas treat, thank you!
This was our 3rd visit to Quail cottage so we feel quite at home there now. The location suits us perfectly as we love the peace & quiet. It’s ideally situated for visiting many of the lovely gardens in the area. I’m sure we will return again, still so much to see & it’s great to have somewhere comfortable to return to at the end of the day.
We had a wonderful stay at the Mouse house - it was very clean and comfortable with a welcoming atmosphere. We were glad of the peace and tranquility during our stay - that’s what we came for and we got exactly that. Lots to do in the area - we visited the RSPB nature reserve and Petworth house where we walked alongside the deer! Val is a lovely host and makes you feel very welcome - we will definitely book in for a long weekend again.
We had a happy 6-week stay between "permanent" homes. The location, accommodation and welcome were perfect for us. We were very grateful for the friendly, flexible but unintrusive approach taken by the owners and housekeeper. Only downside: the potholes in the approach road!
Brilliant stay at Regency House. Lots of character and comfort in a great location! Great space easily catering to a large group. A little worried about parking but we all found a space just outside. Definitely recommend!
We reccomend this beautiful place in UK ! Very nice Place to spend holiday time and Ideal place for artist !
The property is spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the bench outside, watching the world go by. The hosts very quick to respond to requests, lovely touch of a vase of flowers on dining table. Property outside looked a little tired and garden furniture needed a wash down before we used it, this did not detract from an enjoyable stay however. Property well located for the pretty town of Petersfield, which has a decent sized Waitrose. Good dog walking on the door-step. We would recommend a stay here.
The cottage wad lovely very clean and homely I always love coming to Arundel and it was as beautiful as ever would recomend this cottage for an enjoyable stay
Despite the Covid restrictions we were able to enjoy our stay; the only downside was intermittent wifi connection which would frustrate anyone who needed to maintain reliable business meeting contact whilst on vacation.
The house was lovely. It was very comfortable and warm. Plenty of space but also cosy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Lovely flat in East Gristead. Landlords were very accommodating and The Amberley House Cottage Holidays Group were very helpful.
Excellent accommodation well furnished, good location, comfortable and secure. Really caring and attentive host.
Although just off an A road the premises felt as if we were in a lovely remote setting ideal for a quite rexlaxing week. A lovely place to return to after a day's walking on the Sussex downs
The property is ideally located for exploring Ashdown Forest and the surrounding area. 5 minutes from Uckfield for amenities yet quietly situated in a generous plot with gardens, decking and a stream. The inside has almost everything you could want for your stay - even Alexa to keep you company if you are that way inclined! Modern appliances for cooking and heating and in spite of the cold evenings and nights it was quite comfortable. The property has been very tastefully restored and has vaulted ceilings to the living and kitchen area. The bedroom is well appointed as is the generous shower r...more
We enjoyed our stay at Tarante. It is a comfortable and spacious flat with easy parking. Well placed for enjoying Arundel, and all the town offers. The owner was very helpful and considerate. We make regular family visits to this part is sussex and will be very happy to return to Tarante again.
Little Willow is a gem of a place. The owner really seems to care that you have everything you need (and even left us some essentials like tea and coffee AND luxuries like biscuits, chocolates and cosy bathrobes to prove it). The layout of the place is cosy yet provides opportunities for privacy and the location, with its valuable parking spot, is the perfect distance for a gentle stroll into town or a 5 min drive to the fabulous local nature reserve. I can highly recommend this place and will definitely be back!
Walnut tree cottage is a comfortable holiday home in a peaceful location. Was our second visit and hopefully not the last.
We really enjoyed our stay at the clearing. Although it is right next to the owners house it feels very private once you're inside. There are lots of walks on the South Downs right on the doorstep and the local town which is around a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive. The owners were very helpful, as the boiler was playing up so they made sure to show us how to use it. They also left milk in the fridge for us and tea and coffee was provided which was a nice touch.
We had a very nice stay at Groom's cottage. It was convenient for shops and the town of Arundel. We found the country walks nearby very invigorating especially during the pandemic. The owner was very friendly and obliging to the needs of her guests. I would highly recommend it.
We had a comfortable 8 day stay in the studio. We used the maps supplied to explore the local area including Chichester Marina and Harbour.
We had a really lovely stay at the Brambles for October half term and to celebrate our son’s first birthday. It was ideal for our family of 5 (2 adults and children aged 6, 4 and 1): really spacious, comfortable, well equipped, great location and super friendly / helpful owners. Although the weather was pretty rubbish for most of the week, it wasn’t too bad spending some of the time indoors as the Brambles is really cosy and our children loved all the floor space for playing with their Lego! My husband and I even managed some quiet time to each read a couple of the many books lining the sh...more
Lovely spacious house for family of 6 adults in an ideal location. Only downside was the uncomfortable mismatched wooden chairs around the dining table and the lack of decent sized glasses. We had to go to the local charity shop to get some large enough for wine and a nice G&T. Some wardrobes with hanging space and larger mirrors in the bedrooms would also be an improvement. Otherwise a great rental and we would all certainly return.
We had a very relaxing and enjoyable week. The cottage was comfortable, spacious and warm in a beautiful setting. We felt confident that all the Covid procedures had been put in place and everything looked spotless. Our host Clare checked that we were ok and kindly provided us with a highchair. We were lucky enough to see deer in the field including a stag, woodpeckers at the birdfeeder and even heard an owl at night. We went for several walks from the door and also drove up onto Bignor Hill and found the remains of the Roman road, Stane Street, and walked a little on the South Downs Way,...more
River cottage was perfect for us, the property is set within the grounds of a farmhouse, The cottage had everything required for a great break and the owners had kindly left a welcome pack to get us started. Lovely and warm & wood burning fire ready to use if needed. Henfield was a lovely village with great countryside & walks , We unfortunately needed to leave early due to Goverment restriction but can't wait to return.
The cottage was well presented and the key handover using keybox approach worked perfectly. The owner was very approachable and helpful to talk to if needed for help with any of the appliances and heating system. Location was good for local area, albeit parking a bit tight in front of the cottage. Perfectly suited for a weeks holiday, and I think we will be back sometime in the future!
A delightful homely cottage, clean, light and spacious and very well equipped. Would highly recommend this cottage which is ideally situated in the beautiful South Downs.
The cottage is perfectly situated for seeing many of the beautiful sights in the area. Stunning location with fruit tree's and fields all around. Had everything you could need, microwave, sandwich toaster and very full cupboards of cutlery and crockery. Plenty of space and very comfortable. Great layout and very comfy bed. Owner very friendly and helpful with great knowledge of local area, places to eat and visit. Overall facilities and location are a ten out of ten. Would stay again without hesitation.
Generally very clean and well presented, beds very comfortable, sofas not so much. Heating worked well when it was on, unfortunately arriving on a chilly October day to find out from the owner that the heating didn't come on until two hours after we arrived, so we entered the property which is quite cavernous and was quite chilly and was a bit disappointing, not very welcoming; it also unfortunately went off during the day, OK if your out but not so good if your in.The main entry door could do with some draft proofing However we enjoyed our stay and would probably return at some future date.
Directions received were excellent, including OS grid ref (we still use maps not sat navs). Two suggested improvements: a handrail on stairs and hand-grips in bath.
Really lovely, cosy cottage with a friendly and helpful owner. We would definitely come back. Highly recommended.
We had a fantastic stay and the location was perfect for what we wanted to see and do. The hosts were extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. There were 2 pubs within walking distance which served great food. I would totally recommend this accommodation as it is exceptional value for money and set within beautiful surroundings.
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Beth had anticipated all our needs and more. The 'goodies' awaiting us were much appreciated, the shortbread biscuits especially so by David!
This cosy cottage was perfect for a short stay and Sally was a friendly host. It was really well appointed, spotlessly clean and the enclosed garden was perfect for the dog. The location was close to everything and we enjoyed exploring Pagham nature reserve, West Wittering and the walk between Chichester Marina and Dell Quay.
A really characterful and embracing place to stay. Ten minutes' walk from Chichester centre, and good walks out into country too: excellent for non-drivers. All the lighting and decoration beautifully done and looked after.
My sister and I stayed at The Salts for a week in July. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped and we had a very enjoyable week. Rye is a lovely town and there are lots of places to visit near by. Would definitely recommend.
This was our 3rd stay here. The cottage is set in a peaceful village with easy access to the South Downs Way and local towns are within a short drive. The garden is perfect for enjoying your morning coffee. It's well-equpped and beautifully decorated with parking nearby. It may be worth noting that, in the nature of an old cottage, (and not as a criticism) there are low beams in the hallway and the stairs are uneven.
We had an enjoyable holiday partly due to the accommodation which was first class and very comfortable. Located close to the seafront it was ideal for spending time on the beach. Highly recommendable.
A pleasant stay in a quiet street, few minutes walk into Arundel. On street parking, got a space at the top of the road. Heating needed switching on when we arrived then warmed up quickly. Very clean.
The cottage is fine for a couple but a third person would have to sleep in the studio across the back yard. We had hoped to use the studio to work on some projects but there was insufficient room there and no table. Nevertheless we had a good week and enjoyed our stay.
This is the second time we have used this cottage. As previously, the owners have been very friendly and helpful. The cottage the is the ideal place to come for a quiet relaxing break. There are plenty of places of interest to visit in the vicinity. All in all we highly recommend this cottage.
We were given a very warm welcome from the owners of this lovely clean and cosy cottage. There are so many walks and places to visit that our only regret was not to be staying longer..
We had a very enjoyable stay in the Granary. The accommodation was perfect for our requirements and an excellent base for exploring this area of Sussex. Within 30 miles we were able to visit NT properties, gardens, the coast and to visit numerous vineyards and partake of tastings and winery visits. We were certainly not short of things to do.Emma is the perfect host; unobtrusive, but on hand should you need any advice or help.
My partner and I had a pleasant three nights stay here. It's a two bedroom cottage attached to the side of a large house, where the helpful owner lives. All spotlessly clean - especially important in these challenging times. In pretty good condition generally - lovely sitting room and light bedrooms. Good TV with Netflix etc. Kitchen and bathroom ok, if a tad outdated - the water flow is a bit iffy when you're showering. There are a couple of other cottages nearby and a busy road but we weren't disturbed by noise. Apparently we were staying on a particularly expensive weekend and it seemed h...more
This is our second pre-Christmas stay and hopefully we shall be returning in 2021. The property is warm and comfortable with a very well equipped kitchen. We particularly liked the fire in the kitchen, which apart from being cheerful saved turning on the central heating if we happened to be in during the day. We met the gardener, who certainly does a good job though wouldn't be persuaded to take on the 500 mile round trip to get our garden under control!!.
We had a very enjoyable family Christmas at this lovely property. It is very comfortable, warm and well equipped. The location is fantastic and we'd love to stay when the weather is warmer to appreciate the stunning beach a bit more. The views from every window are amazing and we had some lovely walks. Our little dog really enjoyed herself as did our 3 year old grandson. He didn't want to leave. Thank you for the prosseco in the fridge on arrival and the chocolates, much appreciated. Beds were very comfortable and bed linen, towels and bathroom products were good quality. We hope to come aga...more
Spacious property, with exceptional grounds. All facilities needed provided. Very friendly manager.
Beautiful cottage in a really tranquil setting. Wonderful for walks and solitude. Information about the cottage came through promptly and was extremely easy to follow as well as being accurate.
Harbinger's large, airy living space with its Eames armchairs, its B&O tv and beautifully designed log burner make relaxing, after enjoying the many delights of the South Downs, a real pleasure. The property is placed within easy reach of the many seaside resorts, not to mention Petworth, Arundel, Chichester, Goodwood etc. There is so much to see and do that I found that a week is no where near long enough to fully appreciate this astounding area.
Enjoyed our week at the cottage. Loved the beams. Everywhere clean and well equipped. The Aga temperature wasn’t very high and took time to work out the other cooking devise. Quite disappointing bearing in mind the quality of the rest of the cottage. Great location to get out and about and such a pretty village.
A modern and well appointed flat. The owners had thought carefully about Covid protection and we felt safe. Wine and nibbles greeted us on arrival, another nice touch. Julian was most welcoming and told us a lot about the history of the area. West Dean is a lovely little village, very quiet but also close to Cuckmere Haven and Eastbourne/ Brighton. Nestled in Friston Forest, a haven for walkers.
Lovely accommodation, great location lots of good pubs cafes etc nearby and good walks with our dogs.
Very good
Everything was perfect. Very happy with our stay. I will highly recommend this place. Ideal for family
The house is very comfortable and fully equipped, but unfortunately was very dirty when we arrived and wasn't rectified during our stay. Fantastic location for great beaches, walking and visiting local villages like Alfriston.
Hope to return to this wonderful barn. Thank you for thinking of everything we needed for our comfort!
It is a great space for a family. The sound of the weir was lovely and relaxing to listen to and there is a peacock in the garden. Convenient for beaches and the surrounding areas. The place really needs a clothes airer, a bigger bin and some recycling instructions, and I thought it was rather mean to leave 4 dishwasher tabs for a 7 night stay.
Pebble house had everything needed for a family holiday and the location was fantastic. The area is lovely and it is convenient for visiting the general area. I'm sure it would be brilliant in the summer months as there is an enclosed patio to use and it is so close to the beach. As we were there in stormy weather we were warm, dry and comfortable, plenty of room for drying coats etc!
We thought the cottage was wonderful and being in walking distance to Arundel was great. I felt that the TV (for those rainy days) was a bit small for the size of the living room area. Otherwise it was great and the hospitality was superb.
This was a really nice place to find, we enjoyed getting back each day, it transported us Through it’s History, peaceful setting and to be able to look out onto the sea for breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Stunning views and daily visits to our bedroom door by hundreds of goats. Young and old our party was full of gratitude for the experience.
My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Shephard's Cottage. The place was just perfect for us, so cozy and comfortable. The conservatory was the best, as well as the back garden. And to open the back gate and be on the sports green and then immediately into the hills of the South Downs was definitely our favorite part. And out the front door, right into the adorable village of Steyning. The bed was comfy, the bathtub was amazing, the kitchen had everything we could need. We were sad to have to leave. Highly recommend!
Thank you for a lovely short break at Roo cottage. Cottage was really pretty and very comfortable. Loved the outlook over the garden - private and secluded. Woodburner with wood was a much appreciated touch. The kitchen had everything you’d need. The bed very comfy. Warm and cosy living area. Couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you!
A spacious house with direct access to a wonderful beach, a great holiday for three generations. Comfortable beds with lovely fresh, clean bedding and well equipped kitchen. Perhaps a few of the smaller items throughout the property could be renewed, however the house, decking and magical gate to the beach were everything our family needed at this time. Excellent service from Amberley House Cottage Holidays and the owner of the property.
Booking process efficient. The property itself was comfortable, warm and well equipped. A lovely place in a lovely area for walking. The nearby White Horse served good beer and food.
Booked this delightful terraced cottage to enjoy a week exploring Sussex. Ideal location in Arundel (parking a little tight) with everything in walking distance. The owners left a comprehensive guide to local amenities which was a great help. The cottage was clean and had all the essential amenities. A lounge diner with comfy sofas and space to sit and eat for four. Galley kitchen has it's pros and cons - I love cooking so it worked for me, my partner doesn't so ideal for her too! I now want a Neff cooker though. There were just the two of us - and Daisy the cockapoo - so it was ideal for u...more
We had a great time at the Farthings for a late summer getaway. The property is in a fantastic location near to West Wittering beach. The pool and games room are hidden gems in the cottage and we enjoyed the garden and outdoor living.
The location is wonderful. Views of the sea with wind surfers out in all weathers and even a few hardy swimmers. A short walk to the shops. I felt the sitting area would be too crowded with ten guests but worked well with six. Lovely, spotless bed linen and towels but only having 2ft 6in single beds was a distinct disadvantage for adults. The kitchen was very well equipped and a delight to cook in. Maybe add some pasta bowls? Bathroom and shower room were excellent. The house was warm and comfortable during a very wet and windy half term week. I would love to stay again. Maybe...more
Rose Mullion Cottage was convenient for the coast and exploring the area. It is cosy and warm And well equipped. It is quiet, peaceful and we enjoyed our stay there.
We enjoyed our stay in Lavender Cottage despite some pretty wet weather. It is located in the middle of the village and is a beautifully modernised period cottage. The kitchen was very well equipped and the utility room and sun room extensions made all the difference in terms of space and light. Having two showers and toilets in a property of this size and age was also an unexpected bonus. There are low beams but we were expecting those in a period cottage so that wasn't an issue. Be aware though that you need to park quite a walk away from the cottage and we found it impossible to park outsi...more
An enjoyable stay in a good property which had a comfortable lounge and sitting area. The kitchen and cooking facilities were very good and helped present us with the holiday we were expecting.
we had booked a long stay while building work was being done at home. This cottage was perfect for the 2 of us and our dog, Jasper. Beautiful setting and lovely walks from the door. Several NT properties very close which we used avidly! Really cosy cottage with big log fire every evening and it was always warm (despite several pretty cold, wet days!). Working farm was a constant interest to us all and out 2 little granddaughters (who stayed a few nights). Liz and Bob (farmer/owners) were brilliant. A fantastic stay! Thoroughly recommended
Sara welcomed us on arrival and when storm Dennis filled the front garden with rain, she waded over in her wellies to assure us the flood would get no higher! Very reassuring and generous of our hostess's time. In spite of the weather we enjoyed our few days' stay and wanted to discover more of the local walks.
Cottage is very nice and well equipped, excellent location Only negative was the heating which did not function in the living room and on the last day did not function at all , fortunately quite mild for time of year but in winter would be very cold
If you like quirky places with a bit of character, this is a place for you. The details describe the house well. It was warm and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped. We had no problems with the hot water. It is also in a quiet location and well situated for exploring the surrounding areas.
We booked Little House as it was near our son's home, we live in Cornwall and our other children live in Essex and Hong Kong. We all wanted to be together for Christmas and so the location was ideal. It was spacious downstairs with two bedrooms and a bathroom all of a good size and a further ensuite bedroom upstairs (couldn't work the heating upstairs so it tended to be cold). The open plan kitchen and living room allowed a very sociable space. The games room is a great addition when you have a lot of people around and is equipped with a table tennis equipment and a few board games. Al...more
One of the best showers we've come across in a cottage. A great kitchen too. The TV in each room and Wifi available were also nice touches. The customer service was very friendly and helpful, when we had questions there was always someone available. The location next to Fishers Farm Park, plus nearby pubs and towns was perfect for our family.
We had the most wonderful time at Quebec cottage. Julian was a lovely host and my family and I enjoyed staying at the cottage which is lovely and in a pictureque village.
Stunning house a real cosy family home to enjoy in the beautiful countryside with the most unbelievable enormous swimming pool.
This lovely cottage is set in a wonderful peaceful place & it’s happy house.. My only criticism is the bath/shower arrangement which may not be practical for everyone to use safely. Both owner & housekeeper were very prompt in responding to us. In the times of COVID the cleaning regime was needed however taking some of the ornaments away may have reduced the time we spent cleaning on the last day.. We had lots of animals about & an episode of rescuing a squirrel from the water feature. Seeing the deer in the plantation from the bed room window was magical. Thank you for a lovely 10 nig...more
What a brilliant find! Shannon Cottage is a lovely place, tucked away and definitely off the beaten track. We found it absolutely spotless and extremely comfortable. Little touches like a box of mince pies and the poinsethis really made it. We will be back!
A charming and pretty cottage in the centre of Rye. The cottage was just as expected, with all the delightful quirks one would expect with such an old building. Unfortunately there was a problem with hairs in the bed. We contacted Amberley Cottages who in turn contacted one of the owners, who was a little defensive. We can supply photographs. The bedding was then changed. We were very pleased that the heating was efficient as we had a baby with us. We did not know we had to bring our own bedding for the travel cot, it would have been helpful to know that in advance.
Saxons was in a pleasant location and there was a nice patio area to sit outside on the whole the rooms were clean and comfortable. However I felt bedding and towels had been well used/washed and the towels particularly were 'thin' and needed renewing.
This cottage is a delightful gem hidden away in the woods. Relaxing and magical. It’s old and clunky at times but has personality and we loved it.
The garden was great, we played croquet on the lawn and pool provided by the cottage and it was really good fun, there's plenty of space inside, however the beds weren't very comfortable and the water came out slowly, which for flushing was a pain
A delightful, quirky and comfortable little cottage in which to enjoy the local area. Lovely and warm with everything you need on hand, even down to salt, pepper and washing up liquid! We had a thoroughly wonderful time and particularly enjoyed the apples which could be picked without leaving the garden.
We had a nice stay at Whitebeam Cottage. The location is great but the house needs some attention to it and not worth what we paid. The double bed (which was 2 single beds together) was so uncomfortable and you felt the springs through it. Not acceptable for what we paid and a very uncomfortable nights sleep whilst on holiday. The shower up stairs was blocked with hair, the plugs didn’t work in any of the sinks/bath. The oven hob was dirty & old. The sideboard in the kitchen had a draw front fallen off. The settees & carpets need cleaning as lots of stains. It was a real shame and a disappoin...more
This cottage was lovely and felt brand new. it was clean and well appointed. It had good space and also secure parking. It’s a short walk into the village centre of Hurstpierpoint and there are some lovely walks on your doorstep which afford views of the Southdown hills. My only criticism was that the pillows on the beds were as hard as nails and each bed had two of them which you simply couldn’t sleep on because they were too high and hard. However, would definitely recommend the place as a comfortable, quiet and relaxing place to stay whilst visiting the area,
The cottage is in a great location 2 minutes from the beach and regular buses into Chichester. However, anyone with a mobility issue would struggle to climb over the foot high wall at the front to get the the front door and this is the only access and the stairs are very steep and narrow.
I went there with my mum, daughter and one of my granddaughters, and the setting was beautiful, and just set back from the road. It has a lovely big garden, and everything you need inside the cottage. What else can I say, apart from wonderful.
Lovely quirky looking interior however we didn't sleep very well through the whole stay. First night we tried the steps up to mezimen bedroom but the noise from the fridge freezer which is so very close starting up all night was too much so we tried making up the sofa bed for the rest of the stay but that wasn't very comfy on one side so apart from lack of sleep we did enjoy the surroundings and the quiet privacy that The Well House has to offer.
Some niggles but the charming and helpful staff remedied these where possible. The shower screen and lavatory seat need replacing but otherwise we enjoyed the general feel of the property and its situation.
We spent 6 days at the end of October at Beach Reach. 4 adults and 2 children. The location is fantastic and even in October, access to the beach from the back door is fantastic. Waking up in the 1st floor bedroom to the amazing view is a real treat. There is loads to do in the area and we can highly recommend the English Heritage sites of Battle Abbey and Dover Castle as well as the fantastic bike tracks around Bedgebury Pinetum. The house had everything we needed and was a comfortable and cozy retreat each evening. Having a real fire was a treat. The only observation I would make is that ...more
Storrington is a lovely little village, has everything you need, some nice shops, excellent takeaways, several pubs (we only used The Moon a couple of times) and very friendly people. I had a week stay and it's a nice little cottage but the parking is awkward for a larger vehicle. We stayed during the covid restrictions and were provided with lots of instructions on what to do during our stay. I don't think the cleaning was much of a deep clean between visitors, as you would expect, more of a surface clean, lots of cobwebs and dust around, the grill still had crumbs in it from previous vis...more
The owner was most helpful and lives next door. Everything you would expect to find in the ground floor apartment. Good protection against current Covid-19, thorough sanitisation and cleaning. So guests need to bring their own food, soap, etc.
Cosy, comfortable little cottage in an excellent location for a dog friendly break.Very quiet and fantastic walks nearby
Kitchen equipment, (pots, pans, crockery) needs updating and sorting, too many bits and pieces, Minor maintenance before a let. shower head came apart, toilet seat moved on the pan. Otherwise the accommodation and our stay was OK.
Our first impressions when entering Middle House was that we were in someone's home who had just popped out. Lots of personal items around , however , very comfortable, warm cosy & interesting.!! Everything you need in the kitchen for S/C apart from an ice cube tray for our G & T's !!!. Lovely comfortable beds with quality linen. Slight plumbing problem dealt with promptly & professionally by Callum. Thank you ....We will be back.!
great location although parking is tough. The property was not cleaned properly and had someones hair in almost all the drawers. Ok
Modern house well equipped. Shame about the limited parking. In general house style suits only 2 adults and kids due to only one shower and small kitchen/dining area. Office/lounge extension was a plus.
