Designed for maximum comfort and relaxation, four of our cabins have their own en-suite bathrooms, with Roost and Gaggle using our shared garden washhouse. All come with a sumptuous double bed with luxury linens.

The Barn set up was amazing and provided everything we needed for our work retreat. I knew when I booked Gaggle cabin that there were no en suite facilities but I would have preferred to have en suite. As long as you know when booking it shouldn't impact your stay too much. The share bathroom facilities were fine.

A beautiful tranquil place to stay to get away from everything lovely walks will visit in the summer as the cafe and swimming pool was not open when we visited
Great to get away from everything and just relax owner was very nice and helpful nothing was too much

Despite not being someone who likes camping at all, I had a brilliant time with my three children. Everything was there and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and looked after. My boys had a great time in the pool and on the river with the provided paddle boards and boat. We’re already booking for next summer. The only thing I needed was a tea towel, otherwise everything was there.

The bad bits:
Noise pollution from low flying jets, they fly at around 500ft and the noise ricochets off the ground. It vibrated the cabin and was deafening. They start at 10:20 every morning and are almost continuous. About every half hour to an hour. They stop at around 4.30. Then from 18:30 to 20:00 on the Tuesday there was continuous gun fire, whether it was the military training or people shooting I don’t know. I had to make a complaint to the RAF for the low flying. The next day was a bit better they flew higher and the noise wasn’t so bad.
Furthermore, the ‘kitchen area’ is very poor. Everything is crammed up in one small area, plus there was a broken vase just sitting on the counter top for about a day and half. Dangerous, as there is children around.
The cafe is useless. It’s open from Wednesday to Friday and what they do serve is extremely limited and poor quality.
Plus there is no where to sit and eat your meal if there is a downpour, as when the cafe is closed everything is shut.
Plus they only seem to cater for large groups.

The lake is in not a good condition, there is loose weeds on the surface all over the lake, they provided rowing boats, but when I took the boat out, I just kept getting tangled up. I have been to west Lexham before, and it was better than this, I actually swam in the lake, now I wouldn’t want to because of all that weed.

The pool is not heated.
It was freezing.

The cabins and tents are squashed into a small area

The good bits:
The cabin was cosey and comfortable
The cabin had tea and coffee making facilities
The showers and toilets were spotless.

I came here for tranquility and peace and quiet and I got the opposite.

I loved West Lexham itself and the beautiful cabin we stayed in. I also loved the eco-friendly ethos of the place and the beautiful grounds, naturally filtered swimming pool, and the lake with a boat and two paddle boards to have fun with. It really is an idyllic place and deeply relaxing being amongst the wildlife and hearing all the birdsong. My entire family (eighteen of us in total), stayed here for five nights in various tents and cabins, and in many ways it was perfect for such a big group with babies, children and adults.

However, what really let it down was the customer service in the kitchen garden and the general cleanliness / amenities of the communal kitchen and bathrooms. We arrived on a Thursday afternoon and booked dinner for all of us in the kitchen garden for 6pm, and when we walked in the staff didn't even look up or welcome us, the waitress was openly impatient having to repeat options to a large group of people, started clearing plates away before we had all finished, and then when my sister asked if her meal was the same price (as she is on a special diet so instead of having flatbread pizza she had a salad, and instead of the chocolate cake she had strawberries and cream), the answer was a blunt "Yes". If the waitress had been a little apologetic about it and explained it was a set menu for £25 then we would have gladly accepted it, but her manner was so unnecessarily rude and unfriendly. I have worked in kitchens and cafes for many years and was shocked at how poor her customer service was, as it is in complete contrast with the ethos of the place. This didn't give us a good impression on our first night there, and we all agreed the dinner was exceptionally poor value for money.

The communal kitchen was tiny with two very small fridges, a single hotplate, no mugs and hardly any cups. We are a big family who can't afford to eat out every night so need self-catering facilities. And the cafe wasn't open in any case (as it was only open for dinner the evening we arrived). We did ask the people working in the cafe if we could have more cups, which they did bring out, but then took them back into the cafe, which was closed after 12:30pm.

Although the kitchen area had a compost, general rubbish, and recycling bin, they weren't emptied from the time we arrived (Thursday afternoon) until Monday, and two of them got so full I had to empty them myself and left them by the side of the kitchen. The communal bathroom facilities weren't cleaned Saturday or Sunday, when it was very busy, and ran out of toilet roll, which I had to mention to the cleaners on Monday morning when I saw them.

I didn't expect such a poor communal kitchen and poor cleanliness from somewhere so beautiful and expensive, and we all found this disappointing, which is why I wanted to pass this on.

I would like to add that Henry, who showed us round when we arrived, was absolutely lovely, friendly, and helpful, as was Lucy, the gardener, who gladly showed us around the gardens and was a shining example of excellent customer service.

Great environment, facilities and grounds.
The bbq we had access too was absolutely filthy and I wouldn't cook on it and the staff didn't know how to operate the bbq. Staff could be abit more friendly.

Shower, toilet etc was nice and clean as was the cabin.

We loved our stay in West Lexham. The cabin was clean, comfortable and welcoming. The setting was idyllic, with wonderful grounds, swimming in the lake and easy access to the countryside and the coast. Thank you for a perfect - we would definitely recommend!

I wanted a family get away in a new environment and was specifically looking up tree house accommodation. West Lexham came as one of the good places but I think it is underrated and should get more publicity than it currently has. We were a group of 9 staying in Quercus tree house and Gaggle cabin with children. the place is absolutely amazing and the atmosphere is far relaxing and comfortable than expected. Very friendly staff and the facilities in suite and around the place (restaurant, bathrooms, play areas etc.) are all very good and well maintained. The accommodation is very comfortable and the stay is just very relaxing and satisfying. Shared bathroom facilities are high standard and very well maintained which was wrongly thought to be a downside of not having ensuite bathroom. It turned out great.

From my initial email regarding availability to checking out after our stay this place & its staff were AMAZING. I emailed on the off chance just 3 days before I wanted to stay to find that there was availability. Emails back & fourth with questions & then a link that was so easy to follow to make our payment.

We were upgraded from a bell tent to a cabin the day before arriving… another bonus to our trip .. although after seeing the bell tents we would have enjoyed our stay equally as much.

The whole place has such good energy, our cabin was spotless & comfortable. The shared bathrooms were better than our bathroom at home, we even made use of the bath … I mean when do you ever get to do that whilst glamping!!! We took our own food for lunch & dinner, but the food at the cafe looked so good.

We swam in the pool & the lake & just enjoyed lazing around on our blanket in the most beautiful environment. It was pure bliss.

We didn’t choose the breakfast option but made our own tea & coffee in our cabin, bought 2 freshly cooked pastries from the cafe & made our way down to the lake to enjoy a perfect setting.

I have raved about this place to all of my friends & will be returning!!

Booked relatively last minute for a weekened getaway with my son. I didn’t really know what to expect as never really visited a ‘campsite’ but i’m sure this has to be at the luxury end! The grounds are stunning; lawns and flowerbeds immaculate and the cabin i stayed in was absolutely fine. I’m glad i brought a fan though as it was a 28degree weekend and not much breeze. The pool was the highlight for us - super clean, quiet, warm enough and in a really lovely setting. Not to add - you can order drinks/food to have by the pool (breakfast pancakes very good!). Communal shower facilites also well kept and always free. Will visit again.
