Spread across the beautiful 22-acre estate and tucked amongst the trees, our cabins are the perfect escape for those of you who want to step back from the intensity of life and unplug. Designed for maximum comfort and relaxation, four of our cabins have their own en-suite bathrooms, with Roost and Gaggle using our shared garden washhouse. All come with a sumptuous double bed with luxury linens.

I’ve always wanted to try camping but I’m not ready for it yet so I thought, why not try glamping instead? I found West Lexham on one of my Google searches and I immediately fell in love with the place. How you see it in pictures is 10x greater in actuality. I booked a 3-night stay in one of the cabins, which by the way is very warm and cozy!

I love how I had to make my meals outdoors and get that slight feel of “camping”. One thing I could probably suggest is that they provide some chairs in the outdoor kitchen or open the cafe so as to provide temporary warmth and seating. I was standing, eating in the cold. I’m from the Philippines and I’m not built for the cold, but I still had the best time despite the freezing temperatures during my visit.

I would recommend for guests to watch the sunrise by the fire pit near where the boat is, and walk a bit further to reach the Zen Garden.

Overall, I still loved the whole experience. I would definitely be coming back, probably when it’s warmer and I could try swimming in the lake.

Lovely location, basic, clean accommodation but fabulously dog friendly.

There were just a few things that could have been improved on our stay which may just have been unfortunate. The cafe was closed for our stay and on the first night there were no lights on so to be able to eat at tables we had to use lamps and iphones. (Some accommodation has tables but the smaller ones do not.) It was lovely to have dogs with us but they would bring dirt into the room so a way to sweep/clean would have been useful (as would a dog washing station as they jumped into a few stagnant ponds!). There was broken glass near the cafe the first day which was moved but still there on our last day along with dirty towels that stayed for a night or two so more care to the general, shared areas would be good. The wild swimming lake was a little stagnant but perhaps this was the time of year.

The open air pool is fabulous but perhaps some chairs or sunbeds could be made available?
The stay is not inexpensive and there are few facilities on site so attention to detail needs to be on point.

Overall, I would return to the site but not in the smaller cabins (or tents) but that is probably a lesson learned about myself! It would also be lovely to be able to try the cafe food which looks amazing on the website.

After searching for somewhere to relax for my 30th birthday I stumbled across West lexham and how glad am I that I did! The drift cabin was absolutely spotlessly clean. The grounds are absolutely stunning & what a lovely little bonus being able to use the boat/paddle boards/bbq's at your own leasure. The pool was idyllic. We were so sad to leave...2 nights wasnt long enough, cannot wait to return....10/10

A beautiful location and really enjoyed the relaxing walks in nature. The pool was fantastic and so good that chlorine was not used. Plenty of activities to entertain our family also. It would have been nice to have inside access to the garden kitchen area in the evenings - we would have treated it with respect and are trustworthy. Also more cooking hobs would have been helpful as one was not enough. The arrival greeting was friendly and much appreciated.

We eat once at the garden kitchen and the food was disappointing and much too costly for what we received. Also the customer service could have been much better. The option of paying by cash would have been helpful too.

What an amazing place, beautiful setting and a clean and comfortable cabin. I'd recommend this place for anyone wanting to be close to nature. But still liking some creature comforts. Cabins were lovely, windows onto beautiful views all around. Bed was very comfortable. Shower was good. Kettle with tea and coffee. Tasteful decor. The only thing I wasn't keen on was the lights. The bathroom was on a sensor so came on whether you wanted it to or not, getting up to the loo in the night meant being blinded, we had to put a towel across to dim it, it would be nice to have a switch to turn this off or a dimmer setting. And the light on the heater was extremely bright, also had to put something in front of this as it lit the room too much. If you are the sort of person who needs constant Internet access or TV, forget it, this isn't for you. For me this was great, time to catch up on reading, although, one of the ways to contact the owner was by email. No good if you are out of data or can't get a signal. But there was a phone number with someone on the end at all times. We couldn't fault anything else. Will definitely consider going back.

The first away treat for over two years! Couldn't have been better. Delightful and comfy accommodation, kind and courteous staff who felt like friends, the most delicious and healthy meals, and a very beautiful and unspoiled rural location with a large number of ancient and truly wonderful trees. Glorious birdsong morning and evening. What more can I say? Thank you West Lexham Manor.

A great place to stay, away from any towns or even villages. Quiet and peaceful, with birds in the trees right outside your window. For a small, compact cabin, we were provided with everything we needed, and there was a communal kitchen with ‘very limited facilities’, but none of these actually worked. We bought food to warm in the microwave but despite trying all plug sockets - no dice and the fridge didn’t work either. This wasn’t too big a problem as we had other food to keep us going but if not, could have been in a situation as no shops are nearby.
Despite this, a lovely place to stay and we would definitely stay again if visiting the area.

My only couple of comments would be as follows:

The pool was out of order which was very disappointing. I know it wasn't the staff's fault but we were very much looking forward to using the pool.

The Cafe was a bit slow and the staff kept changing the prices on the bill. We had to correct them a few times when paying the bill which we felt was slightly unprofessional. When totting the bill up it almost felt like they were making the prices up as they went.

The food was very good though.

I had a wonderful time at West Lexham. It’s clear that a lot of love and care goes into making this a place for people to feel relaxed and welcome and at home. I’ve never experienced something so welcoming. West Lexham is stunning, the grounds, the plants, trees, the lake and the amazing kitchen and other gardens. It was fascinating to learn about these. The staff are very professional, friendly, welcoming and informative.

My only recommendation is that you don’t allow paddle boards in the pool and parents supervise their children more in the pool. Thank you! What a wonderful place! I will be back!

We have decided to try glamping and booked stay in Drift Cabin, the place is absolutely breath taking, beautiful! The cabin was clean however the floor hasn't been swept or moped before our arrival so little minus for this, considering our daughter slept on mattress on the floor.
The food in the afternoon was great, Amy the cook lady was fantastic, we had good chat with her and she was very informative, however when it came to breakfast, massive disappointment for £10 per person to only offer toast and pastry, no cooked breakfast.... that's definitely not worth the money. Our daughter wanted fresh pancakes with fruit, she was only offered pancakes from toaster which I can give her at home. I do not recommend the breakfast. Now we know that we should pack our own food especially breakfast and consider taking friends next time. Overall good stay but food could be better.

I loved my little cabin aside the lake. Drift allows plenty of light through its 5 windows & doors unlike some others which are buried further in the woods. I appreciated the ensuite which was luxurious. The tea making facilities were a bonus. The bed was comfy & warm enough. The host who showed me round seemed unsure which cabin was which & advised mine didn't have an ensuite! Perhaps this could be improved upon. The grounds were expansive & glorious especially the water areas. I felt relaxed in the secluded Sanctuary Garden. The pool looked inviting & was kept clean. I noticed one aeea where building work was taking place & wondered whether this should have been mentioned to visitors booking. My cabin suffered from no WiFi or Internet connection.at all but perhaps that's no bad thing for a break away from it all. The shower & toilet block was vast & looked sparkling. By contrast the self catering facilities outside the cafe were limited & grubby, sadly. All in all I enjoyed a wonderful retreat, thank you.
