The River Waveney marks the border between Norfolk and Suffolk and Mendham Mill sits astride the river, surrounded by hundreds of acres of beautiful water meadows. Four award-winning cottages which include the stunning Georgian Miller’s House have been created from houses, a granary, and other estate buildings. The owners are on hand assisting visitors who wish to fish or make use of the canoes or rowing boat in the sparkling private waters of the river. With places like Southwold, Aldeburgh and Norwich all within easy reach Mendham Mill is ideally located.
Our holiday at Mendham Mill was a delight. At the risk of repeating other reviews, the grounds were a haven, the facilities excellent and the warmth and generosity of James and Nick so appreciated.
Our family of five stayed at Miller's House which always felt light and spacious and despite our stay coinciding with a heatwave, the house was comfortably cool.
Highlights for us were cooling off in the river swimming spot, exploring the river by canoe and just enjoying the gardens. Even spotted a kingfisher right by the mill!
We would definitely recommend Mendham Mill and hope to stay aga...more
We had a lovely week here in the beautiful surroundings of Mendham Mill. North Meadow Cottage was excellent - well equipped and accessible with everything we could possibly need. Accessibility was most important to us as we had a wheelchair user. Nick and James were friendly and helpful and always available if needed. We loved the garden area, river and idyllic surrounding countryside. We hope to return.
Really enjoyed our week’s stay in Mill Race cottage. The first floor living area was very spacious, well equipped and gave good views of the mill grounds and gardens. Nick and James were great hosts, very welcoming and happy to share their knowledge, the app was very useful too. Loved having the options of canoeing and wild swimming in the grounds, along with outdoor shower. Games room and gym were popular with our teenagers too. Great base for exploring Suffolk.
Mendham Mill is a beautiful and tranquil place to stay with the river meandering through the gardens. The Nest is a reasonable size for two people and has a lovely view up the river from the outside terrace. We found it incredibly peaceful and Nick and James were very helpful and friendly. Hope to return sometime.
Not our first time staying at the Lodge and we were not dissapointed. The property has everything we needed. Our french bulldog Louie loved the walled garden and could run around whilst be safe. Had a few great days fishing and managed a few nice sized chub. The setting of the mill is stunning and so peaceful. Nick and James are superb hosts and very helpful with any requests. Obviously will be looking to book again can't wait to return.
