Woodsman’s Cottage is a Grade II listed building dating back to the 1800s and was the home the woodcutter of Blean woods. Now beautifully restored and decorated by the owners, it is an elegant country holiday home with all the comforts of a modern house and all the character of an historic building.

The cottage is set in a third of an acre of garden, with a side and back patio, lawns and a hot tub. Close by you can enjoy a walk through ancient woodland, and there are five trails to explore, including an eight mile wander through mature oak trees, and the historic Crab & Winkle Way which runs from Whitstable to Canterbury and passes close to the cottage.

Woodman’s Cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay, including two sitting rooms, one with a dining table, and both with wood burners. A lovely kitchen overlooking the garden, and large downstairs shower room. Upstairs are two good sized bedrooms both with Kingsize beds and a Jack and Jill bathroom. There is also a double sofa bed within the second King size bedroom, perfect for teens or children.

The location of the house is also perfect as it is between the vibrant coastal town of Whitstable with its working harbour, art galleries, cafes and restaurants; and the medieval City of Canterbury with its iconic cathedral, cobbled streets, museums and modern shopping centre. Nearer to home – there is a pub, The Royal Oak is a few hundred yards away and a Morrisons about half a mile away.

We loved the cottage and location, the bus stop was nearby and we didn’t have to use our car. The seating in garden was great but we could have done with a parasol as the sun was very strong. We were not keen on the Jack and Jill bathroom and the roll top bath was a waste of space as it was too deep for older people to use. The seating area in the dining room was good but in the lounge only 2 people could sit comfortably to watch tv. The kitchen was well equipped but the plates etc were too thick and awkward to fit in dishwasher. More everyday plates etc are needed. None of the glasses matched. The downstairs shower room was very good but needed a non slip plastic mat in shower as the shower base was very slippery. Lisa was a very good host and could be contacted easily.

A thoroughly enjoyable week spent at Woodmans’s Cottage. A great location to explore the area and transport links are excellent. A bit of a dodgy road to get out on to but we had no issues. If you like a hot tub then you’ll love this one. The garden is incredible! Cottage has everything you need even Sky Sports. Lisa our host couldn’t have been better and cared for every need. We would certainly recommend. A great week thank you.

it is probably one of the most fully equipped holiday homes we have ever rented. You lack nothing and it exceeds expectations. It’s more than the pictures tell. On positive the positive as wel as the negative though. Because one disadvantage must be mentioned. The house is located near a busy road. That road is not visible in any photo and you only find out upon arrival (or on Google after getting the address). I understand that the location of that road is kept out of the pictures but it is a pity that you have different expectations of the location.
